Transcript:   Introduction Pictures from Apple Annies 1.    Jesus Feeds the Five Thousand, Matthew 14:13-21 13 When Jesus heard what had happened, he withdrew by boat privately to a solitary place. Hearing of this, the crowds followed him on foot from the towns. 14 When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them and healed their sick. 15 As evening approached, the disciples came to him and said, “This is a remote place, and it's already getting late. Send the crowds away, so they can go to the villages and buy themselves some food.” 16 Jesus replied, “They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.” 17 “We have here only five loaves of bread and two fish,” they answered. 18 “Bring them here to me,” he said. 19 And he directed the people to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people. 20 They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over. 21 The number of those who ate was about five thousand men, besides women and children. The Prophet Like Moses.  ·       Here is the second “banquet” in this chapter.  This is not as lavish as Herod's but it was much better spiritually.  All four of the gospels record this feeding.  This reveals the importance of the event.  They are in a lonely place or desert on the northeast side of the lake.  There are Old Testament parallels to this event: o  Elisha's feeding 100 men with 30 loaves in 2 Kings 4:42-44 o  Moses feeding the Israelites with the manna in Exodus 16:11, “11 The Lord said to Moses, 12 “I have heard the grumbling of the Israelites. Tell them, ‘At twilight you will eat meat, and in the morning you will be filled with bread. Then you will know that I am the Lord your God.'” §  This is Jesus' way of pointing to himself as the New Moses or as the Prophet Moses predicted would come.  In Deuteron0my 18:15 it says, “15 The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your fellow Israelites. You must listen to him… 17 The Lord said to me: “What they say is good. 18 I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their fellow Israelites, and I will put my words in his mouth. He will tell them everything I command him. 19 I myself will call to account anyone who does not listen to my words that the prophet speaks in my name. 13  Jesus' Compassion 13 When Jesus heard what had happened, he withdrew by boat privately to a solitary place. Hearing of this, the crowds followed him on foot from the towns. 14 When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them and healed their sick. ·       Jesus withdrew in order to deal with the loss of his relative and also to escape the potential political pressure or persecution coming from Herod Antipas.  Jesus is seeking solitude in his grief.  However, when he sees the crowds waiting for him, Jesus' compassion is triggered and he puts aside any thoughts of “me-time” and instead he heals, helps and feeds the crowd.  Jesus reveals how when tough times hit, we want solitude and we also want people around us to comfort us.  His motives rise to the surface as he reveals compassion to the crowds and heals, teaches and feeds them.  Jesus' ministry was a combination of preaching, healing and teaching.  What can we apply here? o  There is a time for solitude and recovery o  There are times when we are called to serve even in the midst of difficulty, persecution, tiredness and sadness. o  Compassion needs to drive our behavior.  It's easy to get cold and clinical when we see people in need.  We let ourselves off the hook by pointing out people's mistakes and failures that led to their problems.  Jesus could have done that with every one of us.  He still has compassion on each one of us.  Don't get to the point where you are driving away people from you because there is no compassion in your heart.  15-18  “Give and it will be given to you.”  15 As evening approached, the disciples came to him and said, “This is a remote place, and it's already getting late. Send the crowds away, so they can go to the villages and buy themselves some food.”16 Jesus replied, “They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.”17 “We have here only five loaves of bread and two fish,” they answered. 18 “Bring them here to me,” he said.  ·       The disciples are tired.  Jesus is tired and grieving.  They want to send the people away.  Jesus says they don't need to.  They don't even have enough food to feed themselves and Jesus asks for that. Jesus follows an Old Testament Pattern when he asks his disciples to give him what they do have.  This follows a pattern seen in 1 Kings 17:10 in a story about Elijah, “10 So he went to Zarephath. When he came to the town gate, a widow was there gathering sticks. He called to her and asked, “Would you bring me a little water in a jar so I may have a drink?” 11 As she was going to get it, he called, “And bring me, please, a piece of bread.”12 “As surely as the Lord your God lives,” she replied, “I don't have any bread—only a handful of flour in a jar and a little olive oil in a jug. I am gathering a few sticks to take home and make a meal for myself and my son, that we may eat it—and die.”13 Elijah said to her, “Don't be afraid. Go home and do as you have said. But first make a small loaf of bread for me from what you have and bring it to me, and then make something for yourself and your son. 14 For this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘The jar of flour will not be used up and the jug of oil will not run dry until the day the Lord sends rain on the land.'”15 She went away and did as Elijah had told her. So there was food every day for Elijah and for the woman and her family. 16 For the jar of flour was not used up and the jug of oil did not run dry, in keeping with the word of the Lord spoken by Elijah. Keep the bread and skip the miracle o  The lady only has a handful of flour, she's about to die of starvation and the prophet says, I know that, but feed me first.  If you want to see amazing things happen, it starts with giving up everything you currently have.  You have to sacrifice.  You have to take that first step of faith.  You have to let go of what you are counting on, worshipping or putting your trust in.  Jesus said in Matthew 9:29, “According to your faith will it be done.”  You have to make that initial investment of faith, even if it's really small.  Like the woman in the story, who only had a little flour and oil, she sacrificed it and gave it to Elijah.  God saw the faith and multiplied the little she had.  Miracles start with faith.  Jesus will often ask you to “prime the pump” by sacrificing something important to you before he opens up the blessings. §  Financial blessing:  “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse and see if I won't open the floodgates of blessings.”  Malachi §  Spiritual growth:  Let go of the sin in repentance and God will open the door to heaven for you. §  Relational blessings:  Give up the bad relationship and allow God to bring you someone or something better §  Example 19-21  The Original Lord's Supper. ·       The verbs used here, “take, gave thanks, broke, gave” all are replicated at the last supper and when he had a meal with the two disciples on the way to Emmaus in Luke 24:30, “30 When he was at the table with them, he took bread, gave thanks, broke it and began to give it to them. 31 Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him, and he disappeared from their sight.”    Paul repeats this format in 1 Corinthians 11:23-24, “The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, 24 and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.” 25 In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.”   This is a foreshadowing of the LORD's supper.  Scholars consider this a foretaste of the Messianic Banquet in Matthew 26:29.  The Miracle ·       Simple food.  Have you ever tasted “Ezekiel” bread?  It's pretty plain.  The bread these people were eating was like that, barley bread and plain fish.  That was it.  It wasn't like Herod's delicious dinner.  Jesus offered very plain fare.  Sometimes we don't serve people because we feel like it has to be super fancy.  It has to come straight out of Pinterest or Better Homes and Gardens.  This keeps us from serving people and connecting with people more often.  We are overshooting it.  Next time, just serve your basic food, that's all that's needed. o  Pictures of James' dinner ·       God works through people.  Who gave out the bread?  The disciples.  God works through imperfect people to do miracles.  ·       Mystery Miracle.  How did the miracle happen?  We don't know.  What did it look like?  It must have been amazing, but only God knows. ·       The miraculous power of a full stomach.  All ate and had their fill.  12 baskets get picked up afterward.  This isn't like the communion bread we are “snacking” on Sundays.  Everyone had a full stomach and there is much more food left over than there was when the disciples handed Jesus the little they had.  They were satisfied.  Food brings people together and provides temporary satisfaction and contentment.  That's the power of food, fellowship and Bible teaching, it builds unity, joy and satisfaction.  It's a powerful combination.  It's how you build a church.  You build it on brotherhood, the Bible and breaking bread together.  There were five thousand men plus women and children.  Jesus said, let nothing be wasted.  They picked it up and used it later.   Conclusion: We've seen two banquets, one fancy and one plain.  One brought destruction and one brought life, healing and deeper faith.  ·       Jesus has the power to provide in abundance, to amaze us with his miracles. ·       He works through people to help others ·       His compassion is what drives him and us ·       Push through tiredness and resistance to give ·       Give what you have.  You can keep your bread but you'll skip the miracle ·       Serve people don't send them away ·       Believe Jesus has the capacity to multiply and meet our needs   Next Steps: ·       Grow in compassion.  Learn to serve and give even when you are tired, grieving and running low on resources.  Jesus sets the example. ·       Bring people to Jesus, don't send them away.  In a couple of weeks we are going to have a neighbor day.  This is a small recreation of this meal in the desert.  We bring people to hear Jesus' words and then we feed them.  Let's bring people because we feel compassion for them.  Let's not imitate the disciples who said, “send them away.”  Let's bring people to Jesus and serve them.  Let's have the heart of Jesus in his desire to meet people's spiritual and physical needs.

Al-Ḍuḥā ( الضحى, "The Morning Hours", "Morning Bright", "The Early Hours") is the ninety-third chapter of the Qur'an, with 11 or verses. Qur'an 93 takes its name from Arabic its opening word, al-ḍuḥā, "the morning" The chapter begins with oaths. It is often coupled with sura al-Inshirah, sometimes without the basmala between them. It should be taken into consideration that according to many narrations, it is said that surah Ad -Dhuha and surah Al-Inshirah are one surah and should be recited in prayers (salah) together. One can also see the close relation between the subject matter of both the surahs.[1] Summary 1-3 Muhammad comforted by the assurance that God is with him 4-5 The life to come to be preferred to the present life 6-11 Muhammad exhorted to care for the orphan and beggar [2] Theme and Subject Matter Its theme is to console the Holy Prophet (upon whom be peace) and its object to remove his anxiety and distress, which he had been caused by the suspension of Revelation. First of all, swearing an oath by the bright morning and the stillness of night, he has been reassured, so as to say: "Your Lord has not at all forsaken you, nor is he displeased with you." Then, he has been given the good news that the hardships that he was experiencing in the initial stage of his mission, would not last long, for every later period of life for him would be better than the former period, and before long Allah would bless him so abundantly that he would be well pleased. This is one of the express prophecies of the Quran, which proved literally true, afterwards, whereas when this prophecy was made there seemed not to be the remotest chance that the helpless and powerless man who had come out to wage a war against the ignorance and paganism of the entire nation, would ever achieve such wonderful success. Then, addressing His Holy Prophet (upon whom be peace) Allah says:"O My dear Prophet, what has caused you the anxiety and distress that your Lord has forsaken you, and that We are displeased with you? Whereas the fact is that We have been good to you with kindness after kindness ever since the day of your birth. You were born an orphan, We made the best arrangement for your upbringing and care: you were unaware of the Way, We showed you the Way; you were indigent, We made you rich. All this shows that you have been favored by Us from the very beginning and Our grace and bounty has been constantly focused on you."Here, one should also keep in view vv. 37-42 of Surah Ta Ha, where Allah, while sending the Prophet Moses to confront a tyrant like Pharaoh, encouraged and consoled him, saying: "We have been looking after you with kindness ever since your birth; therefore, you should be satisfied that you will not be left alone in this dreadful mission. Our bounty will constantly be with you." In conclusion, Allah has instructed His Prophet (upon whom be peace) telling him how he should treat the creatures of God to repay for the favors He has done him and how he should render thanks for the blessings He has bestowed on him

The Theme for this show is ‘Jesus and Islam'. The prophet Jesus (peace be upon him) is mentioned at numerous places throughout the Holy Quran, so, if you really love Jesus, and want to know more about him, then you need to read about him in the Holy Quran, as without reading about him in this most widely read book on Earth, you can never really say that you know him. The first poem come from the inspiring words of sister Faiza Kiran with her poem titled ‘The Game of Trinity', and share the true teachings of Jesus and his belief in the one God. The second poem is actually a Christian hymn, and a Hymn for that matter which happens also to be the most famous Hymn of all times. "Amazing Grace" was published in 1779 by the English Anglican clergyman and poet John Newton and is without a doubt the most famous of all the Christian and secular folk hymns, with a message that forgiveness and redemption are possible regardless of sins committed and that the soul can be delivered from despair through the mercy of God. The Third poem is from the acclaimed poet Furqan Mehmud from Fitchburg, Massachusetts in the USA with his poem on the Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him) titled - Eli Eli Lama Sabakh thani. And just by way of introduction, this poem is based around his final whilst words on the cross, where he cried with a loud voice ““Eli, Eli, lama sabakh thani” which means, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” (Mark 15:34) The fourth poem may come to many as a bit of a shock. Why? Because there is quite a lot to take on, and the evidence quoted stands on solid rock. Eloquently written and presented by the acclaimed poet Dr Bushra Khan with her poem titled: “Jesus Christ, son of Mary”. The final poem was written by Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, the Promised Messiah. The Messiah that was expected to follow the messenger of Allah, the Holy Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and that would revive Islam, and to bring back the lost teachings of the pure Islam, just as Jesus's mission was to bring back the lost teachings of the Prophet Moses (peace be upon him). This poem was originally written in Urdu, and the English translation is presented which provides just an essence of the original poetical gems. The poem is titled: “Death of Jesus of Nazareth”.

Battle Array الصف, aṣ-Ṣaff, aka "The Ranks" is the 61st chapter of the Quran, with 14 verses. This sura is an Al-Musabbihat sura because it begins with the glorification of Allah. 1 All things in the universe praise God 2-4 Muslims exhorted to be faithful and to fight for Islam 5 This exhortation enforced by the example of Moses 6 Jesus foretells a Messenger named Ahmad 7-8 Jesus was rejected as a sorcerer notwithstanding his miracles 9 Islam to be exalted above every other religion 10-11 Muslims exhorted to seek forgiveness by striving in the cause of Allah 12-13 The rewards of those who fight for the faith 14 Muslims exhorted to follow the example of the apostles of Jesus[2] The believers are instructed to strive in Allāh's cause in solid battle formations (verse 4), hence the name of this Medinian sûrah. The disciples of Jesus, who stood up for Allāh, are cited as an example for the believers to emulate. The believers are reassured that the truth will prevail despite the disbelievers' unrelenting plots against it. Those who stand up for Allāh are promised great rewards in both worlds. The next sûrah provides more instructions to the believers. At the outset the believers have been warned to the effect; "Allāh indeed hates those people who say one thing and do another, and He indeed loves those who fight in the cause of the Truth, standing like a solid structure, against the enemies of Allāh."' In vv. 5-7 the people of the Holy Prophet's community have been warned that their attitude towards their Messenger and their Religion should not be like the attitude that the Israelites had adopted towards the Prophets Moses and Jesus (peace be upon them). In spite of acknowledging the Prophet Moses as a Messenger of God they continued to malign him as long as he lived, and in spite of witnessing clear signs from the Prophet Jesus they denied him without any hesitation. Consequently, the Israelites became perverse, incapable of benefiting from divine guidance. This is certainly not an enviable state which another nation should imitate Then, in vv. 8-9 a proclamation has been made with the challenge: "The Jews and the Christians, and the hypocrites, who are conspiring with them, may try however hard they may to extinguish this Light of Allāh, it will shine forth and spread in the world in all its fullness, and the Religion brought by the true Messenger of Allāh shall prevail over every other religion however hateful it may be to the pagans and polytheists In vv. 10-13, the believers have been told that the way to success both here and in the Hereafter is only one: that they should believe in Allāh and His Messenger sincerely and should exert their utmost in Allāh's Way with their selves and their wealth. As a reward for this they will earn immunity from Allāh's punishment, forgiveness of their sins and the eternal Paradise in the Hereafter, and will be blessed with Allāh's good pleasure, succour and victory in the world In conclusion, the believers have been exhorted to the effect that just as the disciples of the Prophet Jesus had helped him in the cause of Allāh, so should they also become "helpers of Allāh", so that they too are blessed with the same kind of good pleasure and approval of Allāh as had been the believers before them against the disbelievers NameThe Surah derives its name from the sentence yuqatiluna fi sabil-i-hi saff-an of verse 4; thereby implying that it is a Surah in which the word saff occurred. Theme and Subject MatterIts theme is to exhort the Muslims to adopt sincerity in Faith and to struggle with their lives in the cause of Allāh. It is addressed to the Muslims with weak faith as well as those who had entered Islam with a false profession of the Faith and also those who were sincere in their profession. Some verses are addressed to the first two groups, some only to the hypocrites, and some only to the sincere Muslims. The style itself shows where one particular group has been addressed and where the other.

Believers must always exhibit trust in God and submit to His will, no matter what the situation. This is exemplified through the stories of prophets such as Moses, Joseph and Abraham (peace be upon them all) whose seemingly unfavorable circumstances turned out for the best. Person must recognize that their life is within a destiny set out by God, and that all of their words, attitudes and thoughts are known and will be judged in the afterlife. This judgement will result in either eternal salvation or everlasting suffering, depending on how a person has lived their life in accordance with God's moral values. Believers will be rewarded for living a life of good conscience and faith. God has promised His faithful and patient servants the highest of rewards, lodging them in lofty chambers in the garden with rivers flowing under them, remaining in them timelessly, forever. Such is the excellent reward of those who do right actions and are steadfast in their trust in the Lord. The Prophet Moses (pbuh) was a role model for believers, displaying a powerful submission to God in the face of troubles. When faced with the pagans, he reminded his companion to submit to God if He did not help them. Prophet Moses' (pbuh) struggle with Pharaoh showed how even an unfavorable situation can suddenly be turned around by God's will. When Pharaoh and his army chased after Prophet Moses (pbuh) and the believers, Prophet Moses (pbuh) expressed his trust that God would guide them and they were able to cross the sea safely. The life of Prophet Joseph (pbuh) provides another example of how believers should interpret events as auspicious and submit to God. Lastly, Prophet Abraham's (pbuh) experience with the unbelievers who wanted to throw him into the fire, and God's command to the fire to be peaceful for him, show that all events are tests and work to the benefit of believers. The Prophet Moses (pbuh) taught us that faith in God and living according to the moral values desired by Him is the path to a good life. Believers who stay steadfast and trust in their Lord will be rewarded with a lofty chamber in the Garden, with rivers flowing beneath it, and they will remain there timelessly and forever.

In our latest podcast, we dissect the events of May 9, 2023, in Pakistan and the infamous Capitol Hill incident in the U.S. Tune in as we explore the dangerous parallels between these seemingly disparate events, sparked by populism, that threaten to undermine democracy in both nations. In Pakistan, we witnessed the alarming rage of the populist political party, PTI, as workers vandalized government and military installations, reminiscent of the aggressive scenes at the U.S Capitol Hill earlier. We discuss how the bitter results of the U.S election spurred Trump's supporters to breach Capitol Hill, highlighting the power of misinformation and the perilous potential of a polarized public. The podcast delves into the dangerous mindset being nurtured, one that transcends borders and can have catastrophic consequences. We discuss Pakistan's military establishment's history of political engineering, from General Saul Haq to President Musharraf, and its current experiment with the charismatic cricket-star-turned-politician. We liken this to the rise of a celebrity leader in the U.S, leading us to question the potential risks of such populist experiments. Drawing parallels with historical events, we refer to Samiri's exploitation of the people in Prophet Moses's absence, as mentioned in the Quran. This serves as a warning that history can repeat itself if the public remains gullible to political manipulation. The episode sheds light on the perils of populism, examining how it can potentially foster a dangerous form of modern fascism. We highlight how social media can amplify these risks by blowing minor issues out of proportion, thereby contributing to the problem. Our conversation extends to the broader context of the ongoing tussle between old and new establishments in Pakistan and the international forces intent on destabilizing the region. However, we also recognize the diverse stakeholders in Pakistan, from Shia Muslims and Urdu speakers to the Baloch and Pashtun tribal belts, who, despite their grievances, have resisted resorting to violent protests. Join us as we navigate this complex political landscape, advocating for rational protest and dialogue over destruction. Let's learn from our past to build a more resilient future.

Members of Palestine's Muslim community have long honored al-Nabi Musa, or the Prophet Moses. Since the thirteenth century, they have celebrated at a shrine near Jericho believed to be the location of Moses's tomb; in the mid-nineteenth century, they organized a civic festival in Jerusalem to honor this prophet. Considered one of the most important occasions for Muslim pilgrims in Palestine, the Prophet Moses festival yearly attracted thousands of people who assembled to pray, conduct mystical forms of worship, and hold folk celebrations. Palestinian Rituals of Identity: The Prophet Moses Festival in Jerusalem, 1850-1948 (U Texas Press, 2023) takes an innovative approach to the study of Palestine's modern history by focusing on the Prophet Moses festival from the late Ottoman period through the era of British rule. Halabi explores how the festival served as an arena of competing discourses, with various social groups attempting to control its symbols. Tackling questions about modernity, colonialism, gender relations, and identity, Halabi recounts how peasants, Bedouins, rural women, and Sufis sought to influence the festival even as Ottoman authorities, British colonists, Muslim clerics, and Palestinian national leaders did the same. Drawing on extensive research in Arabic newspapers and Islamic and colonial archives, Halabi reveals how the festival has encapsulated Palestinians' responses to modernity, colonialism, and the nation's growing national identity. But the people were hesitant, and their doubts and questions led to further instructions and tests from Allah.

Prophet Muhammad PBUH received the text of the Holy Quran from Angel Gabriel, who, in turn, received it directly from God. The Holy Quran was not revealed to Prophet Muhammad PBUH at one time, nor were they revealed to him in order. Instead, the Verses of the Holy Quran were revealed to Prophet Muhammad PBUH over the course of 23 years and often would be delivered in the wake of a current event happening in the time of Prophet Muhammad PBUH and his early Muslim companions.  Angel Gabriel instructed Prophet Muhammad PBUH where Verses and Chapters belonged so that he could sequence the Holy Quran correctly. Prophet Muhammad PBUH instructed scribes to write verbatim as he dictated them orally. The scribes of the Prophet PBUH would write the Verses of the Holy Quran as dictated on whatever surface they had available, whether it took the form of leather, white stones, bones, animal skin, pieces of bark, etc. His main scribe was named Zaid bin Thabit R.A.  Whereas Quranic Verses were composed in fragments, the Holy Quran was compiled into a Book--one developed within two years after the passing of the Prophet PBUH when his major companions were still alive. During a battle, many Quranic memorizers were killed, so the scribe of Prophet Muhammad PBUH, Zaid bin Thabit, was asked to compile the Holy Quran into a published Book.  Whereas Zaid bin Thabit memorized the whole Quran by heart, he did not submit any Verses to the formed Book unless he had acquired two witnesses for each Verse-- their testimonies were in written form and memorization--to confirm the Verses were exactly like how they were revealed ensuring no words or letters were added or subtracted from the text.  It's important to stress that the Prophet's main scribe, Zayd bin Thabit, did not rely on himself, or for that matter, a single companion, to compile the Holy Quran. Instead, he called upon the services of the many memorizers of the Holy Quran to ensure and confirm that they possessed the exact Verses of the Holy Quran, as sent down and Revealed to Prophet Muhammad PBUH with no additions or subtractions. Many companions of the Prophet PHUH memorized the Holy Quran during the life of the Prophet, word for word. The companions knew that past Scriptures, such as the Torah sent with Prophet Moses and the Gospel sent with Jesus Christ, were rendered lost, so they took the necessary steps to protect the Holy Quran from any additions, enhancements, or subtractions; doing so through the devices of word for word memorization.  No parts of the Holy Quran were lost when Zaid bin Thabit compiled the Quran into book form; this owing to the fact that the companions had written copies of the Holy Quran, and the Holy Quran as a whole was memorized by many of the companions. The oral tradition has always been the primary means of preserving the Holy Quran; even today, millions of people worldwide have memorized the Quran by heart. This more than 600-page document is memorized word for word, letter for letter, even by children that do not speak Arabic. Even if every single copy of the Quran were to be burnt today, it would not matter--because many people worldwide have the Holy Quran memorized by heart.  This complete Book of the Holy Quran remained with the first Caliph, Abu Bakr, until his death, then was passed down to the second Caliph, Umar ibn Al Khattab. After his death, it was entrusted to his daughter, Hafsa, also a wife of the Prophet PBUH.

You are obligated to believe in all inspired Books that God has sent to humanity, as delivered through His Prophets. Every Prophet received Inspiration from God. The Arabic word for Inspiration or Revelation is "Wahi" which has several meanings. Wahi means an idea or something revealed or written, commandment, suggestion, to point out something, or to send a message. Inspiration or Revelation comes to God's Human Prophets directly or through an intermediary of the Angel, Gabriel, who brings Revelation to them.God's Books contain His Speech, His Message to you and to humanity, which include His commandments, prohibitions, exhortations, stories, parables, reminders, descriptions of Himself and His Attributes, descriptions of the afterlife, Heaven and Hell, the purpose of life, the creation of the Universe, Worship, Piety, morals, manners, the importance of being kind to one's parents, and much more. These Books seek to guide you through every aspect of your life. God's Books act as a guide, an instructional manual on how to live your life. God, in a high manifestation of His Mercy, Compassion, and Love, sent Books to teach and guide humanity. "...Your Lord is the possessor of vast Mercy..."  (Qur'an 6:147)Islam counts as an article of faith, the belief in all of God's Books in their original, pure form."Say, [O believers], 'We have believed in Allah and what has been revealed to us and what has been revealed to Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac and Jacob and the Descendants and what was given to Moses and Jesus and what was given to the prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and we are Muslims [in submission] to Him.'"              (Quran 2:136)The Old and New Testaments present today are not the Revelations sent with Prophet Moses and Prophet Jesus, peace be upon them. The present-day Old and New Testaments have been altered by men and contain mixtures of human-made ideas and innovations that have corrupted their current state. Whereas these Books may still contain some remaining traces of truth, they do not stand in their original revealed form. God warns in his final Testament, the Holy Quran:"So, woe to those who write the 'scripture' with their own hands, then say,' This is from Allah,' to exchange it for a small price. Woe to them for  what their hands have written and woe to them for what they earn." (Quran 2:79) When previous Holy Scriptures were altered and corrupted by human hands, God in his Mercy, enlisted his last Revelation, the Holy Quran. God has taken it upon Himself to safeguard and protect his final Book to humanity from human-made alterations or corruption. The Holy Quran is the only scripture in its original language and words today. Not one letter of the Holy Quran has been changed since its Revelation. The Holy Quran is meant to serve and teach all people until the end of time. Everything in the Holy Quran is truth, with no evidence of contradictions or falseness, and it will remain so for eternity.Muslims believe that the Holy Quran abrogates all previous Scriptures before it, meaning it cancels the rulings of earlier scriptures and renders them inapplicable going forward since the preceding scriptures were meant for earlier nations and not for us. In his infinite wisdom, God did not feel fit to send down the Holy Quran for previous nations. As the Creator of the World and everything it contains, God knows who would understand and who would not. Although different revelations came down to various Prophets and nations, the general Message had always remained the same: To worship God Alone and to follow his Commandments.

S13E7: Satan and Magic: Unpacking the Complex Relationship

The Light of Reflection

Magic has been a part of human society for centuries, and it has been referenced in different religious texts, including the Quran. The sequence of events surrounding magic can be traced back to when Qabeel (Cain) killed Habeel (Able). The people of Cain were misled and supported by Shayateen, who were corrupt. The Prophet Nuh's Flood wiped out everyone, but people soon went astray again and Satan started pushing them towards magic. Whenever people sought help, Allah sent prophets and angels, including Harut and Marut, to teach them the science of magic. However, instead of using it to protect themselves, people started using it for the wrong things, as Satan whispered and deceived them. This pattern repeated itself throughout history, with Satan and his followers using magic to challenge the prophets and their miracles. For example, at the time of Moses, Satan and his followers used magic to compete with Moses, but the magicians of Pharaoh eventually realized that Moses was not using magic but the truth from their Lord. Similarly, after the death of Prophet Soleman, Satan deceived the nation by claiming that Prophet Soleman was a magician and had used magical formulae. There are several additional questions to consider One question that arises is why magic has been present throughout history, even at the time of Prophet Moses. It seems that magic has always been a part of human experience and has never gone away. Another question is why people continue to follow the science of magic or saharology, despite the clear message in Islam that whoever accepts magic is a Kafir. Is magic one of the weapons of Satan that it uses to deceive people? If so, what is the context in which magic works? Finally, is magic part of nature itself? Where does it come from, and why does it work? Some might see magic as simply a way of playing tricks on the eye, but there are other forms of magic that are much more complex and intriguing. In conclusion, the relationship between Satan and magic is a complex and fascinating topic that has been depicted in various religious traditions throughout history. While magic is often associated with evil, it is important to understand the context in which it is used and the means by which we can protect ourselves from its negative effects.

For additional notes and resources check out Douglas' website.32 The Pharisees heard the crowd muttering such things about him, and the chief priests and Pharisees sent temple police to arrest him.The dispatch of the Temple Police to arrest Jesus would have spoken clearly to the early Christians, as to disciples today in countries where it is not easy or safe to be a disciple. For they were used to arrests of Christian leaders, a practice that continued all the way until the early 4th century. The tension is mounting. Finally, the Pharisees, in collaboration with the upper-echelon priests, send the arrest party to bring Jesus in (v.32).33 Jesus then said, “I will be with you a little while longer, and then I am going to him who sent me. 34You will search for me, but you will not find me; and where I am, you cannot come.” 35 The Jews said to one another, “Where does this man intend to go that we will not find him? Does he intend to go to the Dispersion among the Greeks and teach the Greeks? 36 What does he mean by saying, ‘You will search for me and you will not find me' and ‘Where I am, you cannot come'?”Jesus remarks that soon they will be unable to find him (vv.33-36). (He will have returned to heaven.)As usual, they misread him. They presume he may depart the country to preach in the diaspora. They are saying, in effect, that since Christ had so little success among his own people in his own land, he was mad to think he would enjoy more success among diaspora Jews.Like Caiaphas' unwitting words in 11:49-50, their insight reached beyond their understanding! They are on the earthly "channel 2." Jesus is broadcasting on the heavenly "channel 1."37 On the last day of the festival, the great day, while Jesus was standing there, he cried out, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me, 38 and let the one who believes in me drink. As the scripture has said, ‘Out of the believer's heart shall flow rivers of living water.'” 39 Now he said this about the Spirit, which believers in him were to receive; for as yet there was no Spirit, because Jesus was not yet glorified.Strategically, Jesus waits until the final day of the celebration of the Feast of Tabernacles (v.37). The celebration was marked by camping under shelters ("tabernacles"), rejoicing at night in the light of the huge candelabras set up in the Court of the Women, and the daily drawing of water from the Pool of Siloam. In regard to vv.37-38, read about Simchat Beit HaSho'eivah. Jesus is playing off the Jewish custom of the outpouring of water.Sukk. 5:1 says, "He who has not seen the joy of the water-drawing has not seen joy in his whole lifetime."For the O.T. background, see also Isaiah 12:3 and Joel 3:18.The phrase "from deep within him" (v.38), or "out of his belly" (KJV), may be explained by the Aramaic original. Guph / gupha' originally meant "cavity," them "body" or "person," and could even on occasion substitute for the personal pronoun. The priests poured out water to symbolize Yahweh's blessing on the crops through rainfall; Jesus speaks of a different, deeper, and more important water. The living water harks back to his promise to the Samaritan woman in chapter 4.See also Zechariah 14 and Ezekiel 47, for the deeper Messianic meaning of the flowing waters. These passages depict the outpouring of the Holy Spirit (from Pentecost onward). Thus the gospel writer notes that Jesus is really speaking of the Holy Spirit (v.39).The Spirit was not available to all believers until Jesus had been glorified (v.39). ("There was no Spirit" doesn't mean the Spirit didn't exist, but that it was not part of the lives of true believers.)Does the Spirit continue to well up within me? What am I doing to make sure I'm not blocking the flow of the life-giving Holy Spirit?40 When they heard these words, some in the crowd said, “This is really the prophet.” 41 Others said, “This is the Messiah.” But some asked, “Surely the Messiah does not come from Galilee, does he? 42Has not the scripture said that the Messiah is descended from David and comes from Bethlehem, the village where David lived?” 43 So there was a division in the crowd because of him. 44 Some of them wanted to arrest him, but no one laid hands on him.The crowd is divided (v.40ff).Some say he is the Prophet (see Deuteronomy 18).Others said he is the Messiah, perhaps not understanding that the Prophet Moses spoke of was the Messiah. (They falsely distinguished between Prophet and Messiah.)Yet others questioned whether he was the Messiah, since Bethlehem (the city of David), very close to southern Jerusalem, is far from northern Galilee.45 Then the temple police went back to the chief priests and Pharisees, who asked them, “Why did you not arrest him?” 46 The police answered, “Never has anyone spoken like this!” 47 Then the Pharisees replied, “Surely you have not been deceived too, have you? 48 Has any one of the authorities or of the Pharisees believed in him? 49 But this crowd, which does not know the law—they are accursed.” 50 Nicodemus, who had gone to Jesus before, and who was one of them, asked, 51 “Our law does not judge people without first giving them a hearing to find out what they are doing, does it?” 52 They replied, “Surely you are not also from Galilee, are you? Search and you will see that no prophet is to arise from Galilee.”The police, mesmerized by Jesus and his message, report back (v.45) empty-handed.Oudépote elálēsen hoútōs ánthrōpos (Never spoke so [a] person). It is possible that these temple servants were told to arrest Jesus discreetly, without causing a civil disturbance. (See Mark 14:1-2.) If that is the case, it would illuminate why they failed to bring him in.The Jewish leaders deeply resent Jesus' influence over even their own police force (v.47). After all, the police are hardly the authorized interpreters of the Torah! And yet the Pharisees are relying on a sort of circular logic:(Unstated premise:) If Christ were who he said he is, the leaders would believe in him.None of the leaders believes in Christ. (This is untrue! See 3:2.)Therefore he must not be who he says he is.Moreover, they are quick to dismiss the crowd as ignorant (of the law) and accursed (v.49).As the police rightly observed, in words as true today as they were two millennia ago, "No man ever spoke this way."In connection with verse 49, the rabbis assumed that those who did not know the law could not obey the law. While there is some truth to this viewpoint, there is also error. Were even the Gentiles wholly without redeeming qualities? See Romans 2:12ff.Does it follow that the scribes were de facto better people than the common people?"It is forbidden to have mercy on one who has no knowledge" (Midr. Sam. 5:9)."An uneducated man is not slow to sin, and no people of the land ['am ha'arets] is righteous" (Hillel, in 'Aboth 2:5).Nicodemus takes his stand (v.50).His faith seems to have grown since the night encounter in chapter 3.His mind and his heart are working together.Nicodemus' faith will be demonstrated a third and final time in chapter 19.Nicodemus (v.50) argues for due process. He is dismissed on the basis of a specious argument:Jesus is from Galilee. The prophet (see Deuteronomy 18) is not a Galilean. (This assumption is unsubstantiated.)Therefore Jesus is not the Messiah.(Additionally) Only another Galilean would be deceived by a Galilean. In effect, they are reasoning:The ignorant Galileans are careless in their observance of Torah. The law nowhere specifies Galilee as the origin of the Prophet. Therefore it is highly unlikely that the Messiah is Galilean.Yet Jonah son of Amittai was from Galilee (2 Kings 14:25), and certainly the Jewish leaders knew this. In fact, the rabbis admitted that there were Galilean prophets:"You have no single tribe in Israel from which a prophet has not come forth" (Sukk 27b)."You have no city in the land of Israel in which there has not been a prophet" (S. 'Olam Rab. 2.1).I have amended the translation of v.52, based on the evidence of p66 and p75, to the Prophet, as opposed to a prophet. The Greek can support either; keep in mind also that this is the translation of the original Semitic conversations. We will deal with v.53 ("Then each of them went home") in tomorrow's study, since it is part of a larger section (7:53-8:11) and doesn't properly belong in chapter 7.

Modern Christianity and Christians today do not follow the actual teachings of Jesus Christ, despite their assumption that they do. They are following the teachings of Paul and the early church fathers who came with many innovative ideas that Jesus Christ never taught and was fighting during his lifetime to stop. Modern Christianity teaches the exact opposite of what Jesus Christ was preaching and teaching, such as the belief in the Trinity, which is the worship of more than one God (even though they think they worship one God) - Jesus Christ's divinity, and the belief that it is acceptable to disobey the law of God as long as one believes that Jesus Christ died for their sins. Jesus Christ taught and preached the Oneness of God referenced throughout the Old Testament. Never once does the Old Testament talk about the Trinity because it is an innovative concept that came much later after the departure of Jesus Christ. 'The most important one,' answered Jesus, is this, Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is One. (Mark 12:29). Muslims believe in and worship One Creator.  If modern Christianity is the religion taught by Jesus Christ, why aren't Christians following the laws of the Old Testament? Jesus Christ stated he did not come to abolish the law but to fulfill them. Jesus Christ followed the law of the previous Prophet, Moses, PBUH, and commanded others to follow this law, as referenced in the Bible. Today, the Church has abolished all laws and passes out free tickets to Paradise as long as recipients believe that Jesus Christ died for their sins with no action required to get to Heaven! These were the strange teachings of Paul and the early Church fathers, not Jesus Christ himself.  Why aren't Christians observing Kosher laws when Jesus Christ observed a Kosher lifestyle? Jesus Christ was circumcised. Why are few Christians today circumcised? Why aren't Christians following the second commandment, which forbids statues? Instead, you see statues in churches even though Leviticus 26:1 clearly states: ‘Do not make idols or set up an image or a sacred stone for yourselves, and do not place a carved stone in your land to bow down before it. I am the Lord your God.' One sees so many statues of saints and Jesus Christ throughout most churches! Jesus Christ did not eat pork, while many Christians do!  On the other hand, Muslims are faithful followers of the teachings of Jesus Christ. When Muslims pray, they prostrate themselves to God by placing their foreheads on the ground in total submission, in the same fashion that Jesus Christ did: Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, 'My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.' (Matthew 26:39).  Muslims pray in the same fashion that the Bible demonstrated for Prophet Abraham PBUH: Then Abram fell on his face [in worship], and God spoke with him, saying. (Genesis 17:3) Muslims pray in the same fashion that the Bible demonstrated for Prophet Moses and Prophet Aaron PBUT: The Lord said to Moses and Aaron, 'separate yourselves from this assembly so I can put an end to them at once.' But Moses and Aaron fell face down and cried out, 'O God, the God who gives breath to all living things, will you be angry with the entire assembly when only one man sins?' (Numbers 16:20-22) Prophets Moses, Aron, and Jesus Christ, used to wash and purify themselves before prayer just as Muslims do. (Exodus 40:31-32)  Muslims do not eat pork, just like Jesus Christ did not. Muslims fast for a month, and Jesus Christ fasted for over a month (Matthew 4:2). Muslims are circumcised just as Jesus Christ was. Jesus Christ had a beard, as many Muslims wear today. Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ, covered her hair as Muslim women do. The Bible states that women w

Prophet Muhammad PBUH Prophesied in The Bible and Other Scriptures

God appoints a Messenger to carry His Message to the people. The message that the Messenger brings is known as Revelation, the Divinely-inspired words of God. God's Revelation consists of information about God and his Attributes, including His guidelines, teachings, miracles, stores of past prophets, nations, lessons, and more. God's Revelation also includes prophecies of future events that will happen before Judgment Day, occurring as signs for us to know that Judgment Day is near and that the Revelation came from God. Some Revelation includes prophecies of new Prophets yet to come. Prophet Muhammad PBUH is prophesied in the Scriptures of most if not all major world religions, including the Old Testament and the New Testament.  Before the arrival of Prophet Muhammad PBUH, the Jews and Christians of Arabia were awaiting an unlettered Prophet to revive Prophet Abraham PBUH's religion. Early records of Jews and Christians, from rabbis to monks, witnessed and recognized that Prophet Muhammad PBUH represented the fulfillment of a prophecy stated in their Book.  "And when there came to them a Book from Allah, which confirms what was with them- while earlier, they used to seek help against those who disbelieved - yet when there came to them that which they did recognize, they denied it. So the curse of Allah is upon the disbelievers" (Quran 2:89) The coming of Prophet Muhammad PBUH is prophesied in the Old Testament in several passages. God, the Almighty, speaks to Prophet Moses PBUH: I will raise up for them a Prophet like you from among their brethren; I will put my words in his mouth, and he will tell them everything I command him. (Deuteronomy 18:18) This verse states that God will send down another Prophet similar to Prophet Moses PBUH. Who is this Prophet to which this verse is referencing? Christians mistakenly believe that this prophecy refers to Jesus Christ because of his similarity to the Prophet Moses PBUH. They were both Jews and Prophets. However, if one looks at only these two criteria, then all of the Prophets of the Bible who came after the Prophet Moses PBUH, such as Prophet Isiah, Daniel, Joel, etc., would fulfill this prophecy since they reigned as both Jews and Prophets.  In actuality, this verse references Prophet Muhammad PBUH, who came after Prophet Moses and Prophet Jesus PBUT. As the verse states, Prophet Muhammad PBUH is like Prophet Moses PBUH because both had fathers and mothers. Of course, Prophet Jesus PBUH had no father. According to the Bible, both Prophets were married and had children, whereas Prophet Jesus PBUH did not marry nor have offspring. Both Prophet Mahammad and Moses PBUT died natural deaths, whereas Prophet Jesus PBUH was raised to the Heavens by God.  Both Prophet Muhammad and Moses PBUT were accepted as Prophets by their people in their lifetimes, while Prophet Jesus PBUH was rejected and not accepted by his people. Both Prophet Muhammad and Prophet Moses PBUT were statesmen who governed their people, wielding power to inflict capital punishment. They were political and military leaders, whereas Prophet Jesus PBUH was not. Both Prophet Muhammad and Prophet Moses PBUT came with new laws and regulations for their people, while Prophet Jesus PBUH did not come with a new law. He came only to confirm and renew the law of the previous Prophet, Moses PBUH, according to Mathew 5:17. Both Prophet Muhammad and Prophet Moses PBUT began their prophethood at the age of forty, while Jesus Christ initiated his at thirty. These are only a few similarities between Prophet Muhammad and Prophet Moses PBUT. They have a lot more in common than Prophet Jesus and Prophet Moses PBUH.  The same verse also states that the Prophet shall be among their brethren to come. Deuteronomy 34:10 says the awaited Prophet will not be a Jew of ethnic origin and will come fr

Proofs that Islam is the Only True Religion of God?

Many proofs exist that Islam is the true religion of God. Among the many proofs of Islam's truthfulness is that it is the only religion whose message and teachings have been preserved and never tampered with or changed over time. As for Christianity and other religions, we do not have their original Revelation and teachings preserved for our perusal. If you look at Christianity, for instance, since Jesus Christ and the disciples spoke Aramaic, Jesus Christ's Message and teachings were in this language. Today, we do not have copies of Jesus Christ's teachings in the language he taught them. We have manuscripts in Koine Greek, which was not Jesus Christ's language. It was not until 300 years later, in the 4th century, that manuscripts were cherry-picked and compiled into books from various unknown sources and authors. Then these manuscripts were translated again years later into English and other languages spoken today. The same can be said with the Revelation and teachings sent with Prophet Moses and Prophet David PBUT. Their Revelations were never preserved. God did not preserve their Revelations because they were meant for previous nations and not for us today. Islam, on the other hand — its Scripture, the Holy Quran — stands the same today as when it was first revealed 1400 plus years ago, word for word, letter by letter. God taught it to Angel Gabriel, who taught it to the Prophet Muhammad PBUH, who taught it to his companions, who wrote it down in the role of scribes and memorized it letter for letter. Millions of people of every generation have memorized the Holy Quran. Hundreds of thousands of people worldwide have this 600+ page Holy Book memorized by heart. Amongst the many proofs of Islam's truthfulness is that Islam speaks to the predisposition and innate belief that God has put in the hearts of every human. Take the concept of God, for instance. The idea of God is simple, understandable, and not complex as in other religions. Islam teaches the existence of only One Supreme Being, who is All-Mighty, All-Powerful, All-Knowing, All-Loving, who created the whole universe and everything in it. All other beings are creations of God and not the actual Creator. All the great religious disputes of the past pointed to One God, including Judaism. If there were more than one God, there would be chaos of gods fighting each other for control. If the gods did not fight each other for power and control, that would mean that these gods were dependent on and submissive to each other — in other words, not gods. All past prophets of God mentioned in the Old Testament stressed the teachings of One Creator. Islam acknowledges the historical progression of these great prophets sent by God to humanity, starting with Prophet Adam, Abraham, Noah, Jesus, and Prophet Muhammad PBUT. Islam acknowledges the continuation of these great Prophets of God, all who came with the same general message. Prophet Muhammad, PBUH, is part of this family of prophets, like Jesus Christ and the rest. While all Prophets came down with the same general message and theology, the laws they came with were fine-tuned based on the time, place, and circumstances of their existence. Muslims believe in all the past Prophets and Messengers that God continually sent, and Prophet Muhammad's Message was no different! The Prophets of God that Islam teaches were all holy, righteous men. None ever did anything immoral or questionable, as other religions such as Christianity wrongfully claimed. For those who think that the Prophet Muhammad PBUH might have fabricated his Prophethood for worldly gain, it is imperative to realize that the Prophet, believers from his family, and his companions went through many years of persecution, hardship, and lost kinship because they believed in and spread

Jesus Christ came to affirm, teach, and preach the previous law of the Prophet Moses PBUH. Jesus Christ, like the Prophet Moses PBUH, prayed, fasted, and observed the Sabbath as all Jews did. He never ate pork and was circumcised as Jews should be. The word Christianity was not invented until long after the departure of Christ. Neither Jesus Christ nor the Prophet Moses PBUH ever used or heard of the word Christianity, nor is it mentioned anywhere in the Bible. Because Christianity is a religion based on the teachings of Jesus Christ, it could not have been the religion that God prescribed to past Prophets and humanity, as Jesus Christ was born and came after the previous Prophets of God. He was the second-to-last Prophet of God! How can one think that Christianity is the religion that God prescribed for all humanity from the start?   If Christianity was not the religion that God prescribed to all previous Prophets, then what was it? Was the religion that God prescribed to humanity Judaism? While the Prophet Moses and the Prophet Jesus PBUT were Jews, both Prophets never called their religion Judaism, nor is the word Judaism found anywhere in the Old or New Testaments. Nor had both Prophets of God heard of the term Judaism. This term comes from Judah, who resided in the land of Judea. He was the Son of the Prophet Jacob PBUH (also called Israel) and the grandson of the Prophet Abraham PBUH. Before Judah, the previous Prophets of God, including the Prophet Abraham PBUH, could not have been Jews, as Judah had not been born at that point.    Then the question arises: What was the religion of Prophet Abraham and all the previous Messengers and Prophets of God until the Prophet Adam PBUT if it could not have been Christianity or Judaism? It was Islam! Islam, by definition, means the act of submitting fully to God. Islam is the voluntary "submission" or "surrender" to the Will of God. Islam, or submitting fully to God, was the way of life that God prescribed to all previous Messengers, Prophets, and humanity.    All the previous Messengers and Prophets of God were Muslim. A Muslim, by definition, is someone who submits to God. Islam truly is the oldest and only religion and way of life God commanded humankind to follow. Islam, therefore, is the only religion acceptable to and ordained by God. Islam and God's final Book to humanity, the Holy Quran, abrogates all previous scriptures and becomes the Book of guidance for all humankind until the end.

Understanding the Concept of God Sending Messengers to Relay His Message

How would one know their role and life purpose unless one received clear and practical instructions as to what God wants and expects of them? Thus comes the need for Prophethood. God has sent thousands of Messengers and Prophets to humanity to convey His Message and communicate to us. Every nation on Earth has received a Prophet. They all preached the same general message that there is only one deity worthy of worship, and we should follow His commandments. He is the One and Only God, without a partner, son, daughter, or equal. God sent Messengers and Prophets to guide humanity away from worshipping created beings and toward worshipping Him, the Creator of all things. Prophets came to teach their people who their Creator is, how to build a relationship with Him, and how to love Him. These Prophets taught their people that life is only a test; the successful will enter Paradise eternally, while the unsuccessful will undergo the ultimate punishment in the Hereafter.  God sent Messengers with Revelation to humanity to guide them, starting with the Prophet Adam, including Noah, Abraham, Ishmael, Jacob, Moses, Jesus, and Muhammad PBUT. Due to God's Love and Mercy, He began to guide humanity as soon as He created Adam and Eve PBUH. He instructed them to worship Him alone, the one and only God, and not worship His creation. He ordered them to submit fully to Him. Later, this message was given to the rest of the Messengers and Prophets of God to deliver to their people. The practice of fully submitting to God, which the Prophets taught, is Islam. Islam, by definition, means the act of submitting to God. A Muslim, by definition, is "someone who submits himself to God." Anyone who submits to God is called a Muslim. "He has ordained for you of religion what He enjoined upon Noah and that which We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], and what We enjoined upon Abraham and Moses and Jesus - to establish the religion and not be divided therein..." (Quran 42:13) Many of the Prophets are found in the Jewish and Christian traditions. Whenever God sent Messengers with Revelation, people distorted and changed the Revelation of God after they passed. What was once pure Revelation from God was polluted with the words of historians, scholars, random people, superstitions, irrational philosophical ideologies, and idol worship and included many malicious inserts and deletions throughout time, done for the person's own agenda and political and financial gain.  Whenever people distorted the Message of God and His Revelation, God sent another Messenger or Prophet to reform or renew His Message out of His infinite Mercy. Jesus Christ was sent to reform the previous message sent by the Prophet before him, Prophet Moses PBUH, as Prophet Moses' Message was distorted after his departure. Jesus Christ is quoted in the Bible as saying, Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. (Matthew 5:17).  Just like how Jesus Christ was sent to reform the message of the Prophet before him, Prophet Muhammad PBUH came to reform Prophet Jesus' Message because it had been too distorted by people after his departure and did not survive in its original form. Because God will not be sending any more Revelations and Messengers to humanity, Prophet Muhammad PBUH and God's final Revelation, the Holy Quran, is meant for all humanity until the last day.  All previous Messengers and Books other than the Holy Quran and the Prophet Muhammad PBUH were sent to only a specific group of people and were meant to be followed for a particular period; they had expiration dates. For example, Prophet Jesus PBUH was one of God's mightiest Messengers, sent down with the same general Message of all previous Prophets but only to the Children of Israel—the nati

The Nabi Musa festival dates back centuries, an Islamic celebration of the Prophet Moses that started at the end of the Crusader period. While the festival was abolished by the British during the Mandate it had been revived later under the Jordanians and more recently under the umbrella of the Palestinian Authority. The festival is deeply connected with Nabi Musa, the alleged tomb of Moses and developed through the centuries as a display of local Islamic and then civic identity of Palestine. In this episode Awad Alaby tells us everything about Nabi Musa and the festival, its origin, development and sadly its end. With Awad, we also discussed his family history and how important will be in the future to develop a strong family history of Palestine, a way of preserving Palestinian heritage and celebrate life. Al-Qasas (Arabic: القصص‎, 'al-qaṣaṣ; meaning: The Story) is the 28th chapter of the Qur'an with 88 verses According to Ibn Kathir's commentary, the chapter takes its name from verse 25 in which the word Al-Qasas occurs. Lexically, qasas means to relate events in their proper sequence. Thus, from the viewpoint of the meaning too, this word can be a suitable title for this Surah, for in it the detailed story of the Prophet Moses has been related, also it includes story of Qarun from verse 76 to verse 83 explaining how Qarun was proud of himself thinking that his huge wealth earned by his own science, denying the grace of God on him and latter God destroyed him with his wealth underground. 1-2 Muhammad receives the story of Moses for the benefit of believers 3 Pharaoh oppresses the Israelites 4-5 God determines to befriend the weak and to destroy oppressors 6 Moses's mother directed to commit her child to the river 7-8 Pharaoh's family take up the infant Moses 9-10 The anxiety of Moses's mother—his sister watches him 11-12 Moses refuses the Egyptian nurse, and his mother is employed 13 God bestows on him wisdom and strength 14-20 He slays an Egyptian and flies to Madian 21-22 By divine direction he reaches the wells of Madian 23-24 He waters the flocks of the daughters of Shuaib (Jethro) 25 Meeting Shuaib, he relates his history 26-28 Shuaib gives him one of his daughters in marriage 29 Fulfilling the marriage contract, Moses journeys towards Egypt 29-32 He sees the burning bush, and receives prophetic commission and power to perform miracles 33-35 Moses, fearing Pharaoh, asks the help of Aaron 36 Egyptians regard Moses and Aaron as sorcerers 37 Moses threatens them with God's judgment 38 Pharaoh, claiming to be a god, asks Hámán to build a tower up to heaven 38-39 Pharaoh and his princes blaspheme God 40 God drowns Pharaoh and his princes in the sea 41-42 They shall be rejected of God in the resurrection 43 Moses receives the Pentateuch for a direction to his people 44-46 Muhammad inspired to preach to the Arabs 47 His preaching renders unbelievers inexcusable 48 The Quraish reject both Pentateuch and Quran 49 They are challenged to produce a better book than these 50-53 The Makkans warned by the faith of certain Jews 54 Reward of converted Jews and Christians 55 Character of true converts to Islam 56 Allah guides whomever he wills 57 The Quraish fear to follow Muhammad lest they be expelled from Makkah 58-59 Cities destroyed for unbelief in, and persecution of, God's true prophets 60-61 Present prosperity no sign of God's favour 62-64 False gods will desert their votaries in judgment-day 65-67 The idolaters shall be speechless then, but penitents shall be saved 70-73 God, the only true God, produces the recurrence of day and night 74-75 God shall produce a witness against every nation at the judgment 76-82 The story of Qárún 83-85 Pardon granted to the humble and obedient 86 Muhammad received the Quran unexpectedly 86-88 Muhammad exhorted to steadfastness in the faith of Islam

The Hermit/Mystic is the one who distances himself from the masses in order to retreat to the Silence, & revel in the Sanctuary. It is likely a series of introspective questions that sets him off: “WHO AM I??” “WHAT IS MY PURPOSE?” “WHY AM I HERE?” “WHY AM I ON EARTH?” I believe all good Hermits arrive at the point of no return, where the Retreat to the Cave or the Mountain, the Desert or the Cabin in the Woods, to search for the answers becomes paramount. Sometimes it takes a lifetime to receive their answers, and they are lost to the rest of the world. In other cases, the hermit re-emerges and serves as a Beacon, carrying the Lantern, shining their light, which in actuality is the outer manifestation of their inner Light Quotient, and of Wisdom Remembered. Solitude is very underrated in our Modern World, so I'll leave you with a quote from Mystical Poet Kahlil Gibran: “Solitude is a silent storm that breaks down all our dead branches. Yet it sends our living roots deeper into the living heart of the living earth.” ***This episode we are exploring the Tarot Archetype of the Hermit. I use my own personal experiences as a Cancer Sun Sign (The Hermit Crab), and share about that SOUL CALLING to retreat and discover/remember who you are. I talk about SOUL RETRIEVAL, and share about how the SOLITARY phases of life are so needed, and serve as a haven for transformational and transcendent experiences. For instance, did you know that many Shamans, Medicine People & Healers are often Hermits, living on the outskirts of the Village? That's how they thrive, by living for a time in SOLITUDE, and yet IN COMMUNION with land, spirits, plants, animals, & really with the ALL (SOURCE). Definition of a MYSTIC: a person who seeks by contemplation and self-surrender to obtain unity with or absorption into the Deity or the absolute, or who believes in the spiritual apprehension of truths that are beyond the intellect.
