“Some people grumble that roses have thorns. I am grateful that thorns have roses.”- Alphone KerrIn this episode, Genny spoke about recently celebrating the Canadian Thanksgiving; a time to give thanks for the good in your life. She thought about whether we should offer thanks every day, perhaps in the form of affirmations of gratitude or writing down things that we are grateful for each day.She shared the story of how she asks her students at the University of Winnipeg PACE to share a rose (one thing they are grateful for that day) and a thorn (one challenge that the are experiencing that day). Her friend Natalie Suppes introduced her to that concept a few years ago.Sometimes, you need to stop and smell the roses, and appreciate the beauty and wonder in your life; and be mindful of the thorns and try to minimize the discomfort in your life.Follow Genny on Instagram at @coffeewithgennybIf you like this episode, buy Genny a coffee at https://www.buymeacoffee.com/coffeewithgennySee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Moment of Clarity With Rev. Lorrie Daly-Price

In the verses just before today's passage, Jesus has been up on a mountain praying all night. When the sun comes up he calls together twelve of his followers and makes them disciples. Then he comes down to a level place and starts to teach. He hasn't even had breakfast yet and people are gathering from all over the place to come hear him.   They are coming from as far away as Jerusalem in the south and Tyre and Sidon on the Mediterranean coast – several days worth of walking have brought Jews and Gentiles alike to listen to Jesus teach.     Those gathered looked forward in hope to the time when God would renew the level places and reveal God's glory and salvation in them. Jesus stands with us in our broken level world and teaches the ways of this renewal through the Kingdom of God. At first, it sounds like the very things that bring us woe – riches, good food, and prestige – are the same things that bring us blessings when they are scarce. But this week we look deeper at these blessings and woes.

As the dream of a “Hot Vax Summer” starts to look more and more like a Delta nightmare, Rieckhoff breaks down the historic, infuriating January 6th Congressional hearings. And, he rips into the haters attacking Olympic great Simon Biles' toughness and patriotism.  And we're taking a look back to the very first days of the pandemic. It's a fan favorite and one of ours too. We flash back to March 5, 2020 and come to you from deep in the heart of the legendary NBC 30 Rock building in New York as Paul joined the MSNBC's dynamic Stephanie Ruhle—as she took a quick break from between news segments and the markets began to react to the news of the pandemic. They also dig into the presidential race at the time, traffic, parenthood, and Stephanie's unlikely path into a life in the media. And there may have been some tequila.  If you've never heard this episode, you're in for a treat. And if you're a long time listener, you'll enjoy hearing this gem again.  From Episode 49 - March 5, 2020: With the 2020 race upended, the stock market disrupted, and the Fed drastically dropping interest rates, NBC News Senior Business Correspondent Stephanie Ruhle (@SRuhle) breaks it all down from the inside. And she sharply analyzes the spectacular collapse of Mike Bloomberg's campaign from the perspective of someone who worked for him. This candid and fun conversation gives you insights into the mind and life of a charismatic leader who overcame tremendous adversity to rise to the top of business and political media. Uncensored and unscripted, the former homecoming queen, turned Wall Street derivatives trader, turned cable TV anchor, shares how she juggles work as a mother of three, the values her mother taught her that fuel her success, and why she loves tequila.  Ruhle is a dedicated philanthropist, a media trailblazer, a champion for the underdog — and a fantastically fun person to hang out with. The former anchor of MSNBC Live with Stephanie Ruhle and Velshi & Ruhle, Ruhle was also managing editor and news anchor for Bloomberg Television and editor-at-large for Bloomberg News. She's an advocate for a number of important causes including the Corporate Investment Bank (CIB) Women's Network, Women on Wall Street (WOWS) and Girls, Inc--nonprofit organization that encourages all girls to be "Strong, Smart, and Bold" through direct service and advocacy.  Stephanie Ruhle is another important, inspiring and iconic American success story that embodies what this pod is all about. After earning a coveted spot on the trading floor of a male-dominated Wall Street firm, she used her wits and unstoppable determination to dominate the playing field -- eventually graduating to the forefront of broadcasting in cable network news. With the 2020 race upended, the stock market disrupted, and the Fed drastically dropping interest rates, NBC News Senior Business Correspondent Stephanie Ruhle (@SRuhle) breaks it all down from the inside. [1:07:05] And she sharply analyzes the spectacular collapse of Mike Bloomberg’s campaign from the perspective of someone who worked for him. She’s an advocate for a number of important causes including the Corporate Investment Bank (CIB) Women's Network, Women on Wall Street (WOWS) and Girls, Inc--nonprofit organization that encourages all girls to be "Strong, Smart, and Bold" through direct service and advocacy. This episode is a handbook on how she’s done it. Host Paul Rieckhoff (@PaulRieckhoff) gets you up to speed on the biggest political news of the week fast. The passionate political independent, Iraq veteran and renowned activist leads the fiery conversation with Stephanie—and breaks down Super Tuesday, the Coronavirus, why Bernie Sanders is falling, and how the 2020 race is like Game of Thrones. And as in every Episode of Angry Americans, Rieckhoff offers an inspiring way to turn your righteous anger into positive impact. It’s another powerful episode of the show that’s been rising on the news and political charts and featured in Variety, NPR, The New York Times and more.  Join the Angry Americans community for free now for news about upcoming show and events, and for behind-the-scenes video with guests like Rosie Perez, Henry Rollins, Meghan McCain, Ambassador Susan Rice, Mayor Pete Buttigieg, Bradley Whitford, Sarah Jessica Parker, Medal of Honor Recipient David Bellavia, Rachel Maddow, Samantha Bee and more.  Angry Americans is connecting, uniting and empowering independent people nationwide.
