The Wyness Shuffle is back! Andrew Moffat, Sandy Sutherland, Andrew Young and Lee Tarling are joined by guest panellist, the SPFL's number one emergency assistant referee Jamie MacKinnon for a mammoth pod of ICTFC stuff. On this pod: We talk about all the football: all the draws, and a lesser spotted win, an update from the Supporter's Trust, league lookahead, famous interruptions, team selection, tactics, opportunities for young players, plus finances and the dreaded ‘A-word.' And above all we have an exclusive two-part interview with the man, the myth, the legend Alan Savage. 02:10 Headlines: Since last we did a podcast a lot has happened in the world. We talk about the big headlines: Trump, Oasis tickets, sausages and strictly. 05:20 Game by Game: Stenny and Cove: The boos rang out after the home draw with Stenny. We talk about what was one of the poorest showings this season, Lee tells us why he's had enough, before we move on to Cove and a slightly better performance the week previous but the same result.    24:00 The Emergency Linesman/Assistant Referee: We are joined by the brilliant Jamie MacKinnon, who answered the call in the recent Cove home game and ended up running the line for 30 minutes! He gives us the lowdown on his experience. 33:43 Game by Game: Alloa, Stirling, and Queen of the South: A couple of wins in here but it feels like long ago. Alloa wasn't too bad but we discuss how the points were thrown away. 40:38 Talk to Me: The Consultant Part 1: Savage in name but pragmatic in nature, Chairman of Inverness-based engineering recruitment business, Orion Group, former Chairman of ICTFC and now The Consultant talks about Investment, legal issues, crowds, the fan experience, land, and the council. 01:14:35 The Disruptors: The Cove game was interrupted by an injured ref, which put Jamie in an entirely unexpected position, but what other interruptions have there been in the beautiful game over the years or where have people popped up unexpectedly? Richie hart's dog, Yogi Hughes naked, Darren Jackson, big holes, locusts, Tory politicians, Alsatians, injured pigeons, dead racoons, Gerard Butler, Nacho Novo, Rottweiler care, Henri Anier's chat up lines, a big bag of condoms, and Jamie's Uncle. 01:24:00 The Supporter's Trust: The Supporter's Trust have had a long summer, having been heavily involved one way or another in the changes at the club, they've gained record membership numbers, been more public facing than any ICT fan group has ever been and are now running the bar at the ground. We caught up with Trust Vice-Chair Laura Grant. 01:47:17 Talk 2 Me: The Consultant Part 2: In this part Alan focuses on the Youth Academy, the return of old players, going to war, the club's debt, his expectations on the football front, and ‘a reset.' We then go off on a tangent and moan about the manager. 02:17.00 THE A-WORD: We discuss Alan Savage's recommendations to the board and take a very prophetic guess as to what they may be: administration, and what that might mean. What does ‘a reset' mean in reality? Could we claw back a 15-point deduction?  We thought ‘something big is on the table' and it looks like we were right. 02:23:18 Game by Game: We discuss who has the heating on before looking forward to Arbroath, Livingston, Annan, and Dumbarton 02:35.41 Competition Time! The return of Competition time, in which you can win a kid's 30th anniversary shirt. Courtesy of Mr Savage. 02:37:42 Final thoughts and bye for now

In this episode, The Annuity Man and Terry Savage discuss:  What is “chicken money”? Considering future crises in your financial plan  Seeking trusted advisors  Building an income floor    Key Takeaways:  Your “chicken money” is money that you can't afford to lose. CDs, treasury bills, money markets, AAA municipal bonds, and MYGAs are suitable options. MYGAs and CDs are great for principal protection and tax deferral benefits. Focus on having an income floor and principal protection in retirement plans.  It's important to consider possible future financial crises and plan for them, regardless of political outcomes. Social Security is a primary source of retirement income.  Seek trusted financial advice from fiduciaries who fully disclose costs and operate on a fee-only basis. See to it personally that you are able to customize your financial plan according to your goals.  Have an income floor to protect yourself against market fluctuations and ensure financial stability. Social Security is a strong foundation for retirement income. Build on it with guaranteed products. Consider both the short-term and the long-term in your financial plan.    "Chicken money, by definition, is money you cannot afford to lose, and as such, it belongs in things like short-term CDs, treasury bills." —  Terry Savage   Connect with Terry Savage: Website: https://www.terrysavage.com/  YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/TerryTalksMoney  LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/thesavagetruth/  Twitter: https://twitter.com/Terrytalksmoney  Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/The-Savage-Truth-190870517609983/  New Book Link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1119645441/ref=pe_2313400_441222210_em_1p_0_lm   Connect with The Annuity Man:  Website: http://theannuityman.com/  Email: Stan@TheAnnuityMan.com  Book: Owner's Manuals: https://www.stantheannuityman.com/how-do-annuities-work YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCCXKKxvVslbeGAlEc5sra2g  Get a Quote Today: https://www.stantheannuityman.com/annuity-calculator!

In this episode, The Annuity Man and Terry Savage discuss:  401k and annuities  What does it mean to be a fiduciary?  Annuities are commodity products Always have some chicken money   Key Takeaways:  When you are in the accumulation phase, there should be no limitations at all on the upside. You're better off focusing on accumulation during the 401k time period and then at the end pivoting to an immediate annuity for a lifetime income stream.  Being a fiduciary means more than just having a plaque on the wall. Anyone in the financial business should be putting their client's best interests ahead of themselves every single time.  People need to realize annuities are commodity products. Not one company is better than the other. Not one product is better than the other. These quotes change like a gallon of milk every seven to 10 days so you have to quote for the highest contractual guarantee. Everybody should have some chicken money. The top four chickens are treasuries, CDs, money market, and MYGAs which are the annuity industry's version of a CD. These are all for principal protection, no annual fee, guaranteed interest rates for your chicken money.    "There is one annuity that you might have that will keep up with inflation and it's called Social Security." —  Terry Savage   Connect with Terry Savage: Website: https://www.terrysavage.com/  YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/TerryTalksMoney  LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/thesavagetruth/  Twitter: https://twitter.com/Terrytalksmoney  Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/The-Savage-Truth-190870517609983/  New Book Link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1119645441/ref=pe_2313400_441222210_em_1p_0_lm   Connect with The Annuity Man:  Website: http://theannuityman.com/  Email: Stan@TheAnnuityMan.com  Book: Owner's Manuals: https://www.stantheannuityman.com/how-do-annuities-work YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCCXKKxvVslbeGAlEc5sra2g  Get a Quote Today: https://www.stantheannuityman.com/annuity-calculator!

The Resilient Recruiter

Is implementing KPIs and measuring metrics the same as micromanagement?  Measuring activities is fundamental to evaluating how effective your strategies are in running your recruitment business. However, there are some recruiters and business owners who are apprehensive about implementing metrics measurements and KPIs. Is that the same for your recruitment business?  What are the metrics and KPIs that we should measure? How do we implement a KPI and data-driven environment without giving the vibe that team members are being micromanaged? How do you communicate the intent and purpose of your KPIs to your team members?  In this episode, Greg Savage explained why it is not about micromanaging and discusses metrics that empower talents. On top of this, you will also hear insightful takes on critical trends in AI and technology, and why your mindset is the key in your recruitment career success.   I am delighted to welcome the legendary Greg Savage to give us a reality check and revisit the pillars leading to recruitment success. Greg has four decades of experience owning, managing, and growing staffing businesses across the world. He's the founder of four highly successful businesses; Recruitment Solutions (took to IPO). Firebrand Talent Search (trade sale), Eloquent Staffing (trade sale), and People2People.   Greg still takes an active interest in founding and growing recruitment businesses, investing in recruitment start-ups in Australia and the UK. He's a LinkedIn Top Voices and has been inducted into the Recruiter International Hall of Fame. He's founder of The Savage Recruitment Academy, and author of the best-selling book, The Savage Truth, and has recently published a new book called Recruit The Savage Way.   Episode Outline and Highlights [03:06] Greg and I delved into the essence of authentic leadership. [05:44] Exploring the four key factors for achieving success in the recruitment field. [11:01] Strategies for overcoming complacency and avoiding contentment with the status quo. [15:00] Greg shared his insights on the importance of continuous learning and how he benefits from nano degrees. [18:40] Greg's valuable insights into the impact of AI on the recruitment industry. [29:41] Technological innovations that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of recruitment. [32:08] Conversation about activities and key performance indicators (KPIs) and their role in achieving success in recruitment. [39:08] Exploring the best practices for effectively managing KPIs in recruitment. [47:52] Greg shared his perspectives on career development opportunities for recruiters. [57:00] Analysis of the economic landscape in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic.   The Mindset, Attitude, and Resilience to Become a Successful Recruiter   I have always valued Greg as a mentor all these years. With over four decades of phenomenal success in the recruitment industry, he is an established authority when it comes to sharing wisdom with aspiring recruiters and business owners. He has recently published a book, Recruit the Savage Way, which offers “practical advice, skills, and attitudes and will give rookies an excellent grounding to thrive in their new career and help veterans brush up and add new competencies.”   We have talked about the first section which is on mindset and attitude. Greg said that one of the big reasons for the high turnover in the staffing and recruitment industry is because of the wrong attitude and mindset towards the industry. He mentioned the fallacy of believing that “recruitment is not rocket science,” because it is a complex, sophisticated job.    Greg believes that the mindset and attitude factors are something that can be corrected early on. Like skills and competencies, mindset and attitude can also be honed and trained. He emphasized four factors:   Believe in your value as a recruiter Believe in the value that you can deliver to your stakeholders Having that true resilience - which he refers to as the bounce-back ability Overcoming the threat of complacency   Greg also shared insightful principles on what true resilience looks like for recruiters. He elaborated on the value of emotions and moving on with positivity. You will also appreciate how he defines complacency in the recruitment field.    Activities and KPIs are Critical For Recruitment Success There is a section in Greg's new book about the reality check on the importance of activities and KPIs to recruitment success. Greg elaborated on the two fundamental things to be successful in the business:   “The first thing is if you don't do enough stuff in this business, you will fail.”  “You cannot get better at something unless you measure it.”   Greg and I talked about the myth that measuring your metrics and KPIs is synonymous with micromanagement. As Greg said, “There is no sports person or academic or anyone who doesn't measure their outputs and then try to work on improving them. So I mean, the problem with... most KPIs is that they are foisted on people with no consideration to where those people are up to, not explained why they're important.”   Greg shared his advice to recruitment business owners on how to implement KPIs in a healthy working environment.   Insightful Take on Career Development for Recruiters   Greg also discussed a topic that deeply resonated with me: career development for recruiters and recruitment business owners. You will hear his thoughts on the threat of complacency. As he simply puts it, 10 years of experience is just 1 year of recruitment experience repeated 10 times if you are complacent. How do we overcome the trap of complacency and move forward with development?   Continuous Learning. Greg is an advocate of continuous learning. He shared how he benefits from taking “nano degrees” to stay up to date with recent trades, such as AI.   Owning Your Development. This is how Greg wittily describes it, “There is no one, nobody having sleepless nights about your career. Okay, maybe your mom, but nobody else is having sleepless nights about your career. Even a company that is going to help develop you, you've got to be dreaming if you think they're worried about where you're going to be in 15 years. And nor should they. You've got to worry about your career and you've got to take ownership of your career.”   Do Not Only Think of Your Career as a Hierarchical One. Greg shared successful recruiters who have had satisfying careers by focusing on and growing the career of becoming a recruiter by itself. My takeaway from this is that appreciating the sense of progress honing your craft and seeing your results increase is extremely satisfying.   Greg Savage Bio and Contact Info   With a career spanning four decades, Greg is a founder of 4 highly successful businesses, a trusted advisor and respected voice across the global recruitment and professional services industries, and a regular keynote speaker at conferences around the world.   Throughout his fascinating career, Greg has learned countless lessons in leadership, business, and life. One of his greatest achievements is his success as a communicator.  An early adopter of social media for recruiters, Greg's industry blog, The Savage Truth, is a must-read in the recruitment industry. In this episode, The Annuity Man and Terry Savage discuss:  Responding to current financial issues  The bulls, the bears, and the chickens  Should you wait before taking social security?  The biggest legacy you can leave    Key Takeaways:  Don't panic at every scary event that you hear from the news. Recognize America's history of resiliency and the crises the country has gotten through. Also, check for yourself if and how current financial issues affect you personally before reacting to them.  In every stage of your life, you should divide the markets into the bulls, the bears, and the chickens. You should always have chicken money, it is the alternative to risk. Having discretionary funds that help you sleep at night is nothing to be ashamed of.  If you have the financial ability to do so, consider waiting before taking Social Security until age 70. That's because there's roughly an 8% increase in your benefit per year in the years after your full retirement age.  Your biggest responsibility isn't the decisions you make or who you vote for, though those are really important. Your biggest responsibility is to pass down real history and to share the value of the American free enterprise capitalistic system to the younger generation.    "Self-discipline is the essence of all decision-making. You don't want to be making decisions out of panic. You need to set money aside and decide where it's going. Peace of mind is priceless." —  Terry Savage.      Connect with Terry Savage: Website: https://www.terrysavage.com/  YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/TerryTalksMoney  LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/thesavagetruth/  Twitter: https://twitter.com/Terrytalksmoney  Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/The-Savage-Truth-190870517609983/  New Book Link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1119645441/ref=pe_2313400_441222210_em_1p_0_lm     Connect with The Annuity Man:  Website: http://theannuityman.com/  Email: Stan@TheAnnuityMan.com  YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCCXKKxvVslbeGAlEc5sra2g  Get a Quote Today: https://www.stantheannuityman.com/annuity-calculator!

In this episode, The Annuity Man and Terry Savage discuss:  The national debt will not default  Speculating on bitcoin  Inflation, debt, and layoffs  An annuity is not an investment   Key Takeaways:  Stop panicking. The national debt will not default. Think rationally about this instead of listening to bad opinions on television. There's no financial strategy for the end of the world, so it's not really worth thinking about. Live your life.  If you want to be a speculator, you might as well speculate on soybean futures or go to a casino and find your game of choice. A lot of people get burned by betting on bitcoin. Invest legitimately and rationally.  When there are huge layoffs, two things happen. First, companies discover how they can do things more efficiently. Second, those laid off realize they can compete with the company that just fired them. That's the beauty of capitalism. Do not make the mistake of thinking that an annuity is an investment. In this episode, The Annuity Man and Terry Savage discuss:  Preparing for recession  The wildcard in economy  The two most interest things in the market  Living off of the interest    Key Takeaways:  People are not prepared for the kind of recession we might be facing. The Feds will not let the government buy us out of this recession, even though it's a political year because of the mounting national debt.  The wildcard in all of this is in employment. We haven't seen unemployment go up yet, but there is a greater amount of people either quitting or soft-quitting, which is when people don't quit but aren't working that hard.  The two most interesting things about the market are Bitcoin and gold. Blockchain, the technology behind cryptocurrencies, is going to revolutionize our lives but it's not going to be a refuge from the U.S. dollar.  The goal is for you to never have to touch the principal and just live off of the interest. That's the dream. Establish your income floor and see if you can buy products that will create interest.    "The problem is it's not just financial inflation. It's emotional. It's in the DNA; it's in the cells. And you don't have to be a Ph.D. economist; you can be an ordinary person to understand the impact. That inflation mentality is what has to get broken." —  Terry Savage   Connect with Terry Savage: Website: https://www.terrysavage.com/  YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/TerryTalksMoney  LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/thesavagetruth/  Twitter: https://twitter.com/Terrytalksmoney  Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/The-Savage-Truth-190870517609983/      Connect with The Annuity Man:  Website: http://theannuityman.com/  Email: Stan@TheAnnuityMan.com  Book: Owner's Manuals: https://www.stantheannuityman.com/how-do-annuities-work YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCCXKKxvVslbeGAlEc5sra2g  Get a Quote Today: https://www.stantheannuityman.com/annuity-calculator!

Just be patient; your refund from last year will come eventually with 3% interest. Go to IRS.GOV and look for "sign in to my account," even if you don't have one yet. Scroll down until you see "create an account" and take it from there.  Take time to manage the beneficiaries of your IRA, insurance policy, and other funds. Make sure that your money goes to whoever you want it to go to when you die. Imagine that you get hit by the proverbial bus, think about all the things you wanted people to know or take care of. Who would take care of your dogs? Does anyone else have a key to your house? Where do you store your important passwords?  Create your will and your revocable living trust. Think about all the what-ifs while you still can. Set an example for your family so that they'll be encouraged to practice being responsible with their affairs and finances.      "Consider the what-ifs… think about the possibilities. As many parts of the economy open up again, recruiters are starting to see a surge in demand for talent.  But don't make the mistake of thinking this is a return to “business as usual.” There are lessons to be learned from the pandemic, and important steps you must take to ensure you thrive in the coming hiring boom. If you go back to doing things exactly the same way you did before, we'll miss out on the greatest opportunity in our lifetime to change some of the things we don't like about recruitment. That's according to my special guest, Greg Savage who is making a repeat appearance on The Resilient Recruiter. Greg is of the most respected voices across the global recruitment industry, hear his insights on the pandemic, leadership, and reconfiguring the way you do your business. With 40 years in recruitment, Greg is also the author of the Savage Truth which was published only about a year ago selling more than 10,000 copies - highlighting the loyal following he has built. If you have not been exposed to Greg's no-nonsense approach to recruitment before, then you are in for a treat. Episode Outline and Highlights 3:00 Greg shares his perspective on the pandemic - who are those that dealt with it best?  13:06 The best lockdown marketing idea - “flipping the dynamics.” 22:44 Enduring lessons from the pandemic that recruiters must adopt as standard practice. 33:08 Are KPIs outdated? 38:30 What are the key characteristics and values that owners should be looking for in potential new hires recruiting now compared to what they looked for in the past? 47:25 Thoughts on reconfiguring the profile you look for when hiring rookie recruiters. 55:28 Greg revealed one very important element out of his 14 business pillars, “Leadership Style.” Some Exemplary Performances From Recruitment Businesses in the Pandemic When I launched this podcast in December 2019, I was very fortunate to have interviewed Greg in episode #1.  Following up with him after more than a year, I am really keen to hear his perspectives on dealing with this crisis.  In particular, I hoped he would be able to share examples of people or businesses rising to the occasion.  Greg has a unique vantage point as an advisor to and sitting on the board of, 14 different recruitment companies. How businesses reacted is comparable to the five stages of grief. Here are some key takeaways from him on how some businesses thrived during the pandemic: leadership behaviour played a key factor - those who reached the acceptance stage first were the most successful. understanding the concept of goodwill equity made a big difference. transparency, communication, becoming visible and valuable was really critical. Best to hear directly from Greg both best and bad examples on how some leaders behaved when the pandemic and lockdowns took place. What We Should Have Learned From the Pandemic What are the enduring lessons we should learn from the pandemic as an industry? This is how Greg put it: “Well let me start with a rather cynical, but unfortunately true comment… Owners of recruitment companies will come out of this situation, so relieved that they have survived, so grateful that the markets are peaking up, but they will go back, Mark, and do everything exactly the way they did it before.” This is where it gets more interesting, Greg continues: “Any second article you read on LinkedIn is about how the pandemic has changed recruitment. Absolute bullsh*t! It will not change it. But, the opportunity to reconfigure the way you do things, is HUGE. You can change, and I've got some great stories.”  Question from Our Listener Prior to recording this episode, I asked connections on LinkedIn for questions I should be putting in to ask Greg. A very interesting question came from Greg Benadiba, who is the CEO of Bilingual Source. Now that we are entering a phase of renewed growth in the industry and owners are going to be hiring again, “What are the key characteristics and values that owners should be looking for on potential new hires in recruiting now, and how is that different to candidates they've hired in the past?” Greg answered this question and very insightful pointers were shared. Here his response to our conversation. Greg Savage Bio and Contact Info After graduating with Honours in Psychology, Greg started his career in Executive Search in Australia, before he went on to manage the London office of the United Kingdom's largest accounting recruiter for two years. In the early 1980s, he returned to Australia to run the Sydney office of Accountancy Placements (now the Hays Group), where he was invited to join the Board of Directors at age 27. Greg founded Recruitment Solutions in 1987, and rapidly built the start-up across Australia and New Zealand, culminating in eight offices, 200 staff, and annual sales of $60,000,000. Such was Recruitment Solutions' success that, in July 1998, the company was successfully listed on the Australian Stock Exchange, with Greg at its helm as both Executive Director and COO. In April 2001, Greg joined Aquent as Asia-Pacific CEO. In 2005, he was promoted to Aquent International CEO and assumed responsibility for all Aquent businesses outside of North America, which then comprised over 25 offices across Europe, Asia, Australia and New Zealand. In 2010 Greg acquired the Permanent and Search business of Aquent in Europe, Asia and Australasia, via a management buy-out, and founded Firebrand Talent Search. He quickly created a global brand for this specialist Digital and Marketing recruiter, and successfully sold the business, in 7 countries, in January 2013. An active investor in recruitment businesses, Greg is a Founder and shareholder of people2people, one of Australia's fastest growing recruitment companies, and also a Director and Chairman of New Zealand specialist Consult Recruitment. He also has involvement with many HR Tech related businesses including VideoMyJob  and JobAdder In recognition of his contribution to the Australian recruitment industry, Greg was made an Honorary Life Member of the Recruitment and Consulting Services Association (RCSA) in 2004. He was subsequently elevated to Fellow (FRCA). In addition, Greg was the inaugural winner of the highly prestigious RCSA “Outstanding Contribution to the Recruitment Industry” Award 2011. Recruitment Hall of Fame In April 2018 Greg was inducted into the Recruitment International ‘Hall of Fame' for his contribution and services to the recruitment industry LinkedIn ‘Top Voices ‘2018. Greg Savage On The Future of Recruitment: Strategies To Stay Relevant and Effective, Ep #1

The Resilient Recruiter

Play Episode Listen Later Nov 27, 2019 53:16

The future of recruitment is a topic being bandied about quite a lot these days - and rightly so. There's a lot of fear about what technological changes mean for the industry and for recruiting as a profession. But a powerful, optimistic voice in that conversation is Greg Savage. Greg is one of the most highly respected figures in the recruitment industry, speaking worldwide at recruitment events and forums. He is a LinkedIn “Top Voice' and an early adopter of social media use for recruiting. This conversation focuses on the future of recruitment and how the widespread changes we're seeing are changing the way we work as recruiters. Greg shares his opinion about the things future-forward recruiters need to be doing to be of service to clients in days ahead as well as the tasks they should happily delegate to automation and AI. You'll hear why we recruiters MUST evolve to truly serve clients in the future.  Outline of This Episode [1:17] Why Greg took the time and effort to write a book [5:18] The things that are changing the job of the recruiter in modern times [13:21] What recruiters should not be doing these days - and what they should be doing instead [17:02] Skills needed by agency recruiters of the future [24:49] The most important places to start for social/digital selling [35:30] The IMPACT model of consistent action as a recruiter [38:38] What does it mean to engage in social selling? [44:21] One of the biggest social selling mistakes The future of recruitment will look different than anything we've known so far Greg is hesitant to position himself as a Nostradamus for the recruiting industry, but he can make some significant and likely predictions about the industry based on his years of experience and the changes he's already seen take place. Consider where he's come from... In his time in the industry, Greg has seen the advent of fax machines, the internet, job boards, mobile devices, and more. The recruitment industry he began working in looks entirely different than the one we all know now. Looking ahead, Greg believes AI, machine learning, and automation will change the industry more than anything we've seen thus far. Automation will remove the drudgery of recruitment and free up recruiters to do the part of the job that human beings will always do better than machines - and by that, he specifically means the sales process  Listen to hear how Greg expects selling to look in the future of recruiting and to learn how you can develop the skills that have value to your customers in the future. How A.I. and automation change recruitment for the better The typical way of doing business as a recruiter is to spend hours finding candidates, screening them, taking inquiry phone calls, evaluating applications, scraping LinkedIn and other websites, and more. It's a head-down grind we are very familiar with. In this model, recruiters fill their days with these activities and finish the day feeling like they've done good work. But they haven't. They've busied themselves with activities that are soon to be replaced by A.I and machine learning. Greg insists that engaging in these activities is nothing less than competing with technology - and in those areas, technology will always win.  The smart recruiters of the future won't kick against that reality, they will embrace it and make the technology serve them through automating those processes in their workflow. This will provide a type of time-freedom unheard of in the industry, which will, in turn, allow recruiters to do what they do best - build relationships and foster engagement with future clients. Greg's insights into how to go about doing that are invaluable. Listen to this episode to learn more and be sure to download the action sheet for to plan your road to a better recruiting future. Recruiters should become experts at the HUMAN aspects of their role Even though we deal with a lot of minutia and detail in the administrative side of what we do, the better we can serve clients at their exact point of need, the more we will be seen as an in-demand expert in the field. That point of need boils down to the human aspects of what we do. The future of recruiting is going to belong to those who specialize in understanding their clients' needs, developing relationships with candidates from outside the typical sources, and becoming an “agent” of those candidates by owning their search process from A to Z. Why is this important? Because the people you deal with at companies and as candidates will always want and appreciate a human touch from you. Resist the urge to commoditize what you do and instead, become a relational expert. You'll make the entire process more enjoyable for everyone involved and be more effective at truly serving your clients. All of that leaves an impression about you and your recruiting approach that money can't buy. Greg's got great advice about how you can do the things that only you can do, so be sure you listen. Recruiters of the future must be consistent digital brands The recruiter of the future is not only going to be differentiated by the human elements of what he/she does they will also be noticed by the generosity with which they do it. Greg says that the day of being effective with cold calls and unsolicited emails is quickly fading. The era of relationship building and helpfulness is here. His recommendation to those wanting to remain relevant in the future days of recruiting is to develop and implement a strategy that leans heavily on the social part of social media. His advice? Spend 25 minutes every day creating content that is truly helpful to those you hope to serve. This isn't about adding more work to your already-full plate. It's about leveraging the technological solutions available to take care of the minutia so that you can free up your time for what makes the most difference in your business.  Approach social media from the perspective of finding ways you can serve, rather than finding ways you can profit. Spend your time on social building relationships. That means… reaching out to people in relevant, helpful ways posting or sharing resources that make a difference to your industry connecting people answering questions (even if the person asking is not a potential client) being kind and polite, and engaging in conversations. These simple practices, done consistently WILL build your brand, attract fans, and generate inbound inquiries.  The advice Greg shares about this aspect of what we should be doing as recruiters is much more than I can cover here.
