The result is a childhood imagined against a backdrop that, like the sea, is as serene as it is wild; ever- changing, yet resolute. Co-produced by McAll and renowned producer Kramer (Low, Galaxie 500, Will Oldham), their debut album ‘Neither Is, Nor Ever Was', was released on the legendary Shimmy Disc imprint on October 1st 2021, and has been championed by KEXP, WFMU, BBC 6 Music and BBC Radio Scotland.Learn more about Lyte.

Ida Mae moved to the USA with nothing but Chris' National Steel guitar, a tin tambourine, a broken major record deal and their debut record under our arms.It was at huge personal risk they made this decision. After years of sleepless nights on the road, saying yes to every show offer we had, driving ourselves 15 hours to the next show after 6.5 weeks on the road, sleeping in dilapidated Motel's, playing in Casino bars, falling asleep in hotel lobby's, losing guitars across Europe, writing songs in the backs of cars swamped with our equipment, traveling 100,000's of miles to play shows we'll make a loss on, to then eventually meeting and playing with some of their musical heroes and being invited to play some incredible venues with artists such as Greta Van Fleet, Willie Nelson, Blackberry Smoke and Marcus King. On their upcoming album Click Click Domino the pair have pushed themselves to break new ground both as artists and producers, leaning on everything they'd learned collaborating with producer Ethan Johns on Chasing Lights as well as other top-shelf producers over the years likeT Bone Burnett (Elvis Costello, Robert Plant & Alison Krauss), M. Sima is joined today by Steve Wagner, a Senior Marketing Manager, to chat about email hygiene and enhancing data lists. Steve Wagner leads the strategic marketing function for Webbula. He has over 15 years of experience in demand generation, digital marketing, and account-based marketing programs. He's previously led these efforts across several organizations, including Sales Performance International, ShowClix, and Ariba. Isn't Email Dead? Webbula assists with email list hygiene by driving the best marketing performance possible in such categories as deliverability and open rates and helps to enrich the organization’s data by finding missing parts of their information. Year after year, email marketing proves to be one of the top revenue drivers for businesses, despite proclamations that email is dead. Although there are certainly trends in digital these last couple of years, each year circles back to having a solid email address in order for people to validate their accounts or to drive certain messaging to. What is Email Hygiene, Anyway? When looking at an email list with a million names, most marketers tend to stop by wondering how many of those email addresses are valid, and how they might be identified. However, that is not enough. There are a lot of threats out there, and they do deliver. Webbula breaks these threats into four major categories: 1) reputation threats; 2) fraud threats; 3) delivery threats; and 4) conversion threats. Steve relates examples for each and how his company mitigates these risks. Actual Data vs. Model Data Webbula also has a data-enrichment side that will append additional information or missing gaps for people on their customer lists. 100% of Webbula data is self-reported, deterministic, and individually linked so each piece of data they collect can be traced back to the individual who self-reported it. This information often comes from publisher partners, transactional events, social media surveys, and other data providers that rely on that same level of data to apply to their third-party data. Steve shares some benefits of using self-reported data. Looking Ahead Google is phasing out the third-party cookies over the next couple of years and this has really shaken a lot of marketers who have relied heavily on digital. Thankfully, Google is aware of the potential fallout and have applied a grace period. Steve discloses what he sees for the future of marketing and Webbula. _______________________________ Sima loves to hear from her listeners with input, questions, suggestions and just to connect! Today we are going to weed and feed our act, business and relationships. Spring is a time of fresh rain, budding flowers and horrific, crippling allergies. Ahh, soak it in. Don’t look now but I see some weeds popping up. Daggone it! My beautiful yard is all covered with chickweed, ribwort and quack grass. THIS EPISODE IS SPONSORED BY PATREON SUPPORTER SEAN SELLERS AND THE CLEAN COMEDY CHALLENGE. As I walked around the year this year I thought, enough is enough. Time to weed and feed. In the past I tolerated the weeds because green is green and honestly, they dominated a good portion of the lawn. But, they kept spreading and now there is more weed than grass. And, uhm, this ain’t COLORADO. Within a week of application I saw the weeds starting to turn yellow. By the second week (after a little rain and ninety degree temperatures) the fertilizer kicked in and boosted the grass noticeably. The weeds we now dead and brown. As I wandered around the yard it occurred to me that this would be a great metaphor for shoring up my act. Clean out the junk and let the good stuff grow deep. The lawn product directions said to "apply to lawn while wet". I advise you think about your act soon after a performance. When you do, here are some things to consider: WEED AND FEED - TIPS FOR A STRONGER ACT SHOW NOTES Take a long look at your opening and closing bits Search out any wordy or unnecessarily long stories Be objective and pull any "hacky" or "entry level" jokes Ask yourself, would I write this joke today? If not, YANK IT! Spend more time on bits and see if you can "deepen the roots" If you have trouble, do this exercise with another comedian Now apply this "weeding" to your business approach Use the PARETO PRINCIPLE to direct your focus Shine the sun on what's delivering the biggest payoff Rid your business of time consuming / low return practices When in a rut, help someone else Weed and feed your relationships End toxic relationships and focus on solid mutually beneficial friends Episode Sponsors ...
