In this message, Pastor Jesse helps walk us through these kinds of difficult questions.Listen, and be challenged to think deeply on who Christ is. How can someone be both God and man at the same time? Is that even possible to comprehend? No, it's not possible. But that's part of the point. We need a Superhuman Savior: One who is like us and yet beyond us. In this message, Pastor Jesse unpacks the doctrine of the two natures of Christ. And in this deep and incomprehensible doctrine, witness the awesome wonder of our Lord and Savior who is both God and man - and fall before Him in humble worship.

When the United States astronauts landed on the Moon, President Richard Nixon said it was the greatest moment in history... But Billy Graham set the record straight by pointing out that the greatest moment of history was actually when God became man on Earth in the person of Jesus Christ. In this message, Pastor Jesse unpacks what Scripture teaches about the humanity of Christ. You'll see how although this doctrine has been perverted by many, it is an essential truth about Christ that is clearly taught in the New Testament. And you'll come away with a greater understanding of your Lord and Savior as fully God, yes - but also truly and fully man like us.

The 180 Church Podcast with Dr. Sammy and Friends

In the course of the Christian life or in one's investigation of faith, the thoughts and considerations for how we should live a life in Christ brings about the question of, “how?” Through the many voices, iterations, and interpretations of how we should live our lives, it's worth noting that the systems set in place through adherence to the truth in the scriptures and of the faith experience introduces a filter for gleaning value from a multitude of angles and perspectives. From introduction into the Christian community to how we exist in and through it, systematic theology offers a lens by which we can formulate an orderly, rational and coherent account of the doctrines of Christian faith in our own lives.

Building Bridges Through Faith, Good Will and ConversationsEnvy and coveting what others have can lead to a range of personal and societal problems. On an individual level, these emotions can breed discontent, erode self-esteem, and foster negative comparisons. I've seen so often how this can result in unhappiness and a constant sense of inadequacy. At a societal level, envy often contributes to a culture of competition and materialism, driving people to prioritize material possessions over meaningful connections and personal growth. So often, these feelings of economic inequality have led to social divisions. Some individuals relentlessly pursue what others have, often at the expense of ethics and empathy while others seek equality of outcome despite their lack of effort. So much of this unnecessary animosity can be cured by tuning out the polarizing forces and having the conversation. My guest this week is a master at building bridges through faith, good will, and conversations.Who is Rev. B. Keith Haney?Keith Haney is currently Assistant to the President of Missions, Stewardship, and Human Care at Iowa District West, a ministry in Northern Iowa. Keith is an accomplished podcaster and published author as well as being a facilitator with a demonstrated history of working in the religious institutions industry. Rev. Today on the Mushroom Hour we are honored to be joined by Dr. Andrew Wilson - Assistant Curator of Mycology in the Sam Mitchel Herbarium of Fungi at Denver Botanic Gardens. For Dr. Wilson the discovery of mycology began back in the late 90's at San Francisco State University in taking classes from world renown mushroom taxonomist, Dr. Dennis Desjardin. Working with Dennis, Andrew earned a Masters degree studying the mushroom genus Gymnopus from Java and Bali. He later went on to earn a PhD in the lab of Dr. David Hibbett at Clark University. His project took him back to Southeast Asia, this time to study the ecology and evolution enigmatic puffball genus Calostoma and their relatives. In 2009, Andrew graduated and began a postdoc with Dr. Gregory Mueller at the Chicago Botanic Garden where he explored the systematic evolution of the Cantharellales and the model ectomycorrhizal mushroom genus Laccaria. He also did a one-year postdoc at Purdue University, in the lab of Dr. Cathie Aime, teasing apart the complex evolution of plant pathogenic rust fungi. At Denver Botanic Gardens, Dr. Wilson is working on a regional contribution to the Fungal Diversity Survey (FunDiS) that encompasses the state of Colorado, with a focus on the Southern Rockies. In this effort he is training students on how to study biodiversity using natural history collection and DNA sequence analysis. He is also working on new tools in DNA sequencing to better sample and study fungal diversity.   TOPICS COVERED:   Formed in a Family of Biologists   Intellectual Explorations at San Francisco State University   Genus Gymnopus   Expeditions to Southeast Asia   What are Systematics?   Genus Calostoma   Role of Isotopes in Understanding Fungal Ecologies   Biogeographic Histories of Fungi   Interpreting Ancestry and Evolution in Phylogenetic Data    Gondwana Supercontinent   Finding a Living, Ancient Ancestor on the Lacarria Family Tree    Denver Botanic Gardens & Sam Mitchell Fungi Herbarium   New Methods of High-Throughput DNA Sequencing    Biodiversity & Evolutionary History of Southern Rocky Mountain Fungi   EPISODE RESOURCES:   Dr. Andrew Wilson - Denver Botanic Gardens: https://www.botanicgardens.org/team/profile/andrew-w-wilson-phd   Dr. Dennis Desjardin (Mentor): https://biology.sfsu.edu/faculty/desjardin   Dr. David Hibbet (Mentor): https://www2.clarku.edu/faculty/facultybio.cfm?id=355   Gymnopus (Genus): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gymnopus   Calostoma (Genus): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calostoma   Laccaria (Genus): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laccaria   Calostoma cinnabarinum: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calostoma_cinnabarinum   Colorado Mycological Society: https://cmsweb.org/   Colorado Mycoflora Project: https://coloradomycoflora.org/

What are women? Adult human females. What are adults, and humans, and females? Are we suffering a plague of sophistry? (Yes.) Must we turn this around? (Yes.) Are humans ever hermaphroditic? (No.) What about banana slugs? (Yes. What about them?) And clown fish? (Also yes—again, so? They're clown fish, not humans.) We discuss the evolution of sex and sex roles (aka gender). We talk about Genetic Sex Determination and Environmental Sex Determination. We discuss anisogamy and monoecious and dioecious plants, and it's interesting and not full of uninterpretable words. We do not discuss the paired hemipenes of snakes and lizards. Our apologies. ***** Blinkist: Learn big ideas fast from best-selling non-fiction.
