When a human body is discovered in the United States, there is a person who takes on the role of eyes and ears of the dead: the death investigator. There is a whole chain of officials from the police, to forensic pathologists, to families and loved ones that depend on these specialists to unlock stories the dead can no longer tell. No one knows this role like Joseph Scott Morgan. In this episode, host Kathryn Fox and Joseph peel back the layers of this hidden world: the science, the secrets, and the sacrifices of those who witness the grim reality of death day in and day out.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The BLM Movement has been taking the world by storm. From the murder of Travon Martin to George Floyd, they have had such a powerful presence. However, I want to have a heart to heart with the Black Community and say the change has to start amongst our community. There's many problems we have to fix before we can fix the world that see's us. If we don't have a solid foundation, our empire will crumble. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/princeoffreshair/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/princeoffreshair/support
George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Travon Martin these are just a few people who were killed by white men simply because they were black. This episode speaks about the black lives matter movement and creating change. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
While the deaths of Travon Martin, Michael Brown, Eric Garner, and Sandra Bland galvanized the #BlackLivesMatter movement, the killings of Rayshard Brooks, George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Arbery have forced America to reckon with centuries of racial injustice and police brutality in unprecedented ways. Not only have protests demanding change been widespread, but major corporations — which, until now, have been largely silent and hesitant to embrace Black Lives Matter — are pledging to fight racial injustice and declaring their support of the nearly seven-year-old movement. We discuss the significance of those corporate responses, as well as new challenges these companies face to commit to righting past wrongs.
A confronting - and deeply personal - look at the roots of racial division in the US. --- “We still live under the long shadow of the plantation. Indeed, freedoms have been spread to a larger group of people over time, but that spread has been at the cost of ongoing oppression of black people in ways that have become very apparent thanks to video cams and cell phones that betray the brutality of the police state that we sometimes live in as black people.” With the events of recent weeks – the Death of George Floyd, the Black lives matter protests all over the U.S. and around the world, including here in Australia, we felt this episode would be a good one to revisit. When we first posted it, we were reflecting on the death of black teenager Travon Martin at the hands of George Zimmerman and the fallout from that tragedy. Sadly, it seems not much has changed. In this episode of Life & Faith, Professor Albert J. Raboteau from Princeton University, an expert in the African-American religious experience, walks us through the history of race relations in the US, and the deep roots of racial division – from the plantations to the Black Lives Matter movement today. But he’s not just an expert – Professor Raboteau has lived the reality of racism as well: “My father was killed by a white man in Mississippi, three months before I was born. The white man who killed him was never tried. He claimed self-defence and he wasn’t indicted even. … When I was 17 and getting ready to go off to college, [my mother and stepfather] sat me down and, for the first time, explained to me what had happened. They said, ‘The reason we didn’t tell you before was we didn’t want you to grow up hating white people’.” — For The Love of God: How the church is better and worse than you ever imagined is available here: https://www.publicchristianity.org/fortheloveofgod/

Dutch and Hass discuss racism and bias on the podcast where politics and pop culture collide! This week we talk, and disagree, about whether Michael Brown and Travon Martin should be talked about in the same breath as Philando Castille, Eric Garner, Sandra Bland and others. Dutch has a conversation with a most likely racist woman at a bar, while Hass defends a white woman on Facebook. In the news, a man body-slams a young boy for not removing his hat during the National Anthem, then says Trump told him to do it and thousands are stranded in the Hong Kong airport. On the lighter side of things, the duo talk about some of the advantages and dangers of Ketogenic diets, on the request of a listener, we read some reviews from listeners, including one telling VFU they are useless, discuss our ongoing suspension from Twitter, and talk about our favorite Saturday morning cartoons. On the Humidor, Hass reviews a Hoyo de Monterrey no 1 Maduro Presidente cigar and pairs it with an unlikely food... Red Vines! Last, we play a clip from Ben Shapiro and play a new game, "Hold your Horses", which lampoons comedian Terrence K Williams, who appears via recording to tell us about the Clinton crime family and Jeffrey Epstein. That battle for freedom is not always where we think it is. In the 1860's it was on the battlefields of the South. In 1960;s there were the streets of major US cities. Now the battlefields are in the classrooms and even medical clinics. It has been said that the most dangerous place for a black child to be in the womb of their mother standing in a Planned Parthood clinic. According to www.blackgenocide.org 1000's of Black children are murdered by doctors each day to silence. We know the names of Travon Martin, Sandra Bland, Eric Garner, Mike Brown, but what about all of those that never got to have a name?

A year ago we spoke with a few high school students and ask them about their thoughts about dress and image. How Black youths are perceived by others within the community and outside. A year after Trayvon Martin the nation is discussingMichael Brown & Eric Gardener again we see various media sources attempt to paint a different image of the unarmed young man the same as we saw during the Zimmerman trial. Check out our past show where young people shared their ideas about images of Black youths and how sometimes perceptions of their language, dress and social media images can be misinterpreted. (Link is at the bottom of page). How is an unrelated incident of robbery become relevant in discovering if the shooting of an unarmed person (Michael Brown) was justified? http://www.nbcnews.com/storyline/michael-brown-shooting/feds-urged-police-not-release-michael-brown-robbery-video-n182346 What is it that the various policing agencies want the public to think about Mike Brown after releasing the video? A) The nation should not be spending this amount of social capital on a criminal B) He was not close to being the gentle giant as friends and family have claimed C) The officer was responding to a dangerous individual that posed a real threat to the officer D) The shooting was justified the state did not execute a saint but rather a thug Any thoughts?
The media sure has a way of shaping the way we view criminals & their victims. As in the case of Travon Martin a Black person can be perceived as the criminal when they are the victim ! Our society is obsessed with Al Capone, Bonnie & Clyde, Billy the Kid, etc. Is it because they were White ? If they were Black would the perception be different ? Am I right ? Am I wrong ? Call me at (347) 996-5369 & bring your opinion. See ya Friday ! :o)

Gary, Becky, & Micah talk to Joe Newby about Travon Martin, the New Black Panthers, and how the story is being used by the far left to cause racial division.
In this particular show we will be discussing the killing of 17 year old Travon Martin and the entire incident leadng up to his death. Also, we will discuss the recent shootings that took place in downtown Indianapolis on the canal and what we in the community should be doing to reach the youth of this cit and address the issues of teen violence and killing. We will also tackle what the meaning of a true "ratchet" female is..
The Middle Men will be disuccesing the injustice of being black in America. Over our past history and in recent news, we have seen several incidents where either african americans were sentenced to prison, murdered, or beaten. Racism continues to be an issue in our justice but authority figures continue to state that it does not. We have witnessed the Rodney King beating, the murder of Emmett Till, murder of Oscar Grant, and countless others. We have seen Michael Vick sentenced to 26 months in prison for dogfighting but have seen George Zimmerman still free to live in his home after the murder of Travon Martin. Is our justice system flawed? Of course!! Punishments do not fit the crimes, and punishments of crimes are swfit enough for the victims. With being black in America, has society shaped us with the injustice of being black ? Compared to the days of the Jim Crow laws, has any thing changed within our society being black in America? Should we as black people starting joining organizations such as the Black Panther Party? Should we hold our gangs more responsible for their neighborhoods and convince them to turn their image around to go back to their original purpose? Why is it that we view white on black crime as unacceptable, but view black on black crime as entertainment via sites like worldstar hiphop? We also discuss the murders of Trayvon Martin, Rekia Boyd, and James Craig Anderson.
