As of now, the case remains unsolved, with no new leads or evidence emerging, leaving Roberts' fate a mystery and serving as a stark reminder of the dangers associated with hiking in remote wilderness areas.(AI)(commercial at 10:18)to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.com

In today's midweek mini, I, Ky, bring you not one, but two true crime stories that are shrouded in mystery and begging for answers. The first case revolves around the tragic death of an 18-month-old toddler in Georgia and the arrest of 18-year-old former beauty queen Trinity Pogue. With details scarce and the relationship between Trinity and the child unclear, the case leaves us with more questions than answers. As the investigation unfolds, authorities urge anyone with information to step forward. The second story is even more chilling, featuring Jerri Lynn Roby, a mother with a murderous past, who is now accused of killing her own son, John Allen Gaither. With John's body discovered behind a false wall in a wooden box, and more boxes found on the property, we're left to wonder about Jerri's intentions and whether there are more victims yet to be uncovered. These cases are currently under active investigation, and we implore anyone with information to contact the authorities. If you have insights or updates contact the respective authorities.Join me for this episode as we navigate through the scarce details and the unknowns. And don't forget to weigh in on our latest poll: Did Jerri Roby commit more murders, or was this an isolated incident? Cast your vote on Spotify or in the show notes. As always, stay tuned for updates on these cases, and remember, in the world of Love and Murder, the truth is often stranger and more horrifying than fiction.

A Beginners Guide To DNA And How It Is Used By Investigators To Help Solve Crimes (8/23/23)

DNA (Deoxyribonucleic Acid) is a molecule found in the cells of all living organisms. It carries genetic instructions for the development, functioning, growth, and reproduction of these organisms. DNA is composed of four chemical bases: adenine (A), cytosine (C), guanine (G), and thymine (T), which are arranged in a double helix structure. Here's a summary of what DNA is and how it's used in investigations:1. DNA Structure: DNA is made up of two long chains (strands) of nucleotides twisted into a double helix. Each nucleotide consists of a phosphate group, a sugar molecule (deoxyribose), and one of the four nitrogenous bases (A, C, G, or T). The sequence of these bases along the DNA strand forms the genetic code.2. Genetic Information: DNA contains the genetic information necessary for an organism's traits and characteristics. The specific sequence of bases in DNA encodes the instructions for building proteins, which are essential for various biological functions.3. DNA Replication: Before a cell divides, its DNA is copied through a process called replication, ensuring that each new cell receives an identical set of genetic instructions. This process is crucial for growth, development, and repair in living organisms.4. DNA in Investigations: DNA plays a pivotal role in forensic investigations and various other scientific fields:Forensic DNA Analysis: In criminal investigations, DNA from crime scenes (such as blood, hair, or saliva) can be compared to DNA from suspects. This process, known as DNA profiling or DNA fingerprinting, helps identify suspects, establish paternity, and exonerate the innocent.Identification: DNA is used for identifying individuals in disaster victim identification, missing persons cases, and in immigration procedures.Genealogy: DNA testing is used in genealogy research to trace ancestry and discover family connections.Medical Diagnostics: DNA analysis aids in diagnosing genetic disorders, identifying disease risk factors, and personalizing medical treatments.Biological Research: DNA is a fundamental tool in biological research, helping scientists understand genetics, evolution, and diseases.5. Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR): PCR is a technique used to amplify (make copies of) specific DNA segments, even from small or degraded samples. This is crucial in forensic DNA analysis where limited or damaged DNA is often encountered.6. DNA Sequencing: DNA sequencing methods determine the exact order of bases in a DNA strand. This is important for understanding genetic variations, mutations, and the genetic basis of diseases.Considering how often we refer to DNA and DNA testing, I thought that it was time for us to have a bit of a guide as to what DNA testing is and how it is used by investigators to help them solve crimes. Summary of the Case and Victims:The discovery of Shannan Gilbert: The case came to light in May 2010 when 24-year-old Shannan Gilbert, an escort, disappeared in the Oak Beach area of Long Island. Her disappearance sparked an extensive search, and during that process, police discovered the remains of other bodies in the vicinity. The initial findings: In December 2010, the remains of four women were found along the remote stretch of Ocean Parkway near Gilgo Beach. All of them were wrapped in burlap sacks. These victims were later identified as:a. Maureen Brainard-Barnes (25): She had gone missing in July 2007. b. Melissa Barthelemy (24): She disappeared in July 2009. c. Amber Lynn Costello (27): She went missing in September 2010. d. Megan Waterman (22): She disappeared in June 2010.Additional victims: In April 2011, the remains of six more people were discovered along Ocean Parkway, including:a. Jessica Taylor (20): She had been missing since July 2003. b. Jane Doe #6: Unidentified victim. c. Jane Doe #7: Unidentified victim. d. Jane Doe #8: Unidentified victim.Disappearance of an escort: In March 2012, 22-year-old escort, Shannan Gilbert's remains were finally found in a marshy area near Oak Beach. Her death was ruled as an accidental drowning, but some believe she might have been connected to the killer.Other potential victims: The investigation also probed the possibility of additional victims connected to the Long Island Serial Killer. Among them was an unidentified Asian male found in Nassau County in 2000, and a dismembered female found in 1996 in Manorville, New York, which was also attributed to a potential serial killer. After years of inaction and ineptitude shown by the Suffolk County Police department, a new regime came into town and did something that we rarely see from politicians: They kept their word. In this episode, we hear from Commissioner Harrison who sat down with Newsday to talk about the arrest of Rex Heuermann and where things currently stand.(commercial at 9:37)to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:Rex Heuermann engaged in ‘disturbing' behavior up to arrest (nypost.com)This show is part of the Spreaker Prime Network, if you are interested in advertising on this podcast, contact us at https://www.spreaker.com/show/5080327/advertisement

She had done this drive many times before…On July 1st, 1989, 32-year-old Pamela Webb left her home after 4th of July family gathering in Withrop, Maine to set out on a road trip she was very familiar with. She packed up her favorite things, including her trusty pup, Thumper, a beagle/basset hound mix, and hit the road in her 1981 blue Chevy Pickup towards Mason, New Hampshire to see her boyfriend for the long weekend. Her family had no idea that night that Pamela would never make it to her destination. Later that night Pamela's blue Chevy was found on the side of the highway near Biddeford with a flat tire and signs of a struggle nearby, but Pamela was nowhere to be found. Almost two and a half weeks later, her body was found in the woods of New Hampshire three hours away from where her truck was stranded, and the medical examiner declared her cause of death “unspecified violent homicide.” To this day, Maine State Police are still trying to fill in the pieces of a still fuzzy timeline that will answer the question: What happened to Pamela Webb?Press play now to hear Pamela's story, the angles that police have investigated, and the theories internet sleuths have discovered while trying to come up with answers to this cold case mystery. This week's episode is short but it is a case I haven't seen on any other podcasts. On January 6, 1982, both Barbara Oberholtzer and Annette Schnee were kidnapped despite having never met each other. They both died from gunshot wounds very far from each other. Their assailant is thought to be a local but has never been convicted.
