//The Wire//2300Z January 2, 2025////ROUTINE////BLUF: QUESTIONABLE DETAILS REMAIN FOLLOWING YESTERDAY'S TERROR ATTACKS.// -----BEGIN TEARLINE------International Events-                                                       Europe: Russia's GAZPROM has halted the flow of natural gas to Europe following the cessation of the long-standing trade deal involving the transportation of LNG through Ukraine to European customers. This development has been expected since at least 2014, when Europe was extremely reliant on Russian gas, yet in the predicament of the war developing in Crimea at the time. Since that time, most European customers of Russian LNG have either attempted to reduce or shift their demand for natural gas, or have shifted to other providers. AC: At the moment, this development doesn't appear to really change much with regards to Europe's energy crisis; this is more of the end of an era that has been a long time coming.-HomeFront-Louisiana: Many details abound surrounding the New Year's attack on Bourbon Street. Most pressingly, the FBI has taken the position that the attacker, Shamsud-din Jabbar, acted alone. Despite initial reports suggesting three men and one woman were observed planting explosives throughout the area, the FBI has corrected these reports and suggested that the persons observed were not involved with the placement of IEDs. AC: The knee-jerk reaction by the FBI to lie has reduced the trust and confidence the average citizen has in this assessment. For instance, during the FBI's press conference yesterday (in which a spokesperson stated that the event wasn't terrorism), the FBI had already recovered an ISIS flag at the scene. At the time of the press conference, the FBI knew this detail, confirming that the details conveyed to the American people at that moment were a lie. Trust is a concept that is easily lost, and very hard to regain. As such, if additional threats emerge following the now multiple terror attacks that have already occurred around the nation, it's unlikely that anyone will trust what the FBI has to say for some time.Nevada: Overnight, investigators have stated that the incident at Trump Tower in Las Vegas was a deliberate act of terrorism. The suspect, who authorities claim has been identified as Matthew Livelsberger, allegedly constructed a Vehicle-Borne IED, detonating the device at the hotel for (as of now) unknown reasons.-----END TEARLINE-----Analyst Comments: The details that have come to light regarding the Vegas bomber have largely been host to much suspicion. Allegedly, Livelsberger was killed in the attack. However, considering that Livelsberger was a Special Forces soldier, and an expert in sUAS systems and remotely-operated electronics, skepticism abounds as to whether or not the body recovered from the vehicle was actually him. DNA testing will be required to fully verify the driver's remains. Initially, authorities appear to have relied on tattoos and documents found in the vehicle to identify the driver of the Cybertruck. However, it's not clear as to how the driver's remains can be burned beyond recognition, yet his identity documents (to include his passport) survived the fire. It's also not clear as to why the driver would have sustained a gunshot wound to the head (as was stated by the Las Vegas Sheriff this afternoon), if the intent was for him to detonate a VBIED. This latter detail is completely at odds with the characteristics of most terror attacks; it is virtually unheard of for an attacker to take his own life before ensuring that their explosives are functional and/or the attack is complete. ANOTHER WAVE OF EXPLODING DEVICES STRIKES LEBANON.// -----BEGIN TEARLINE------International Events-Middle East: As expected, another wave of device explosions has struck Lebanon. This morning, hundreds of handheld radios reportedly exploded throughout Beirut, in a probable continuation of yesterday's targeting efforts by Israel. So far, handheld VHF/UHF radios have been targeted, along with sporadic reports of other consumer-grade electronics such as televisions, laptops, cellphones, etc.Russia: Overnight, Ukrainian forces conducted a substantial strike on an ammunition storage facility in Toropets, Russia. The resulting explosion was so substantial it was detected as an earthquake by local seismic sensors.-HomeFront-New York: This morning, reports circulated involving explosives being found the vicinity of President Trump's rally in Long Island. A suspicious vehicle reportedly breached the security perimeter, prompting closer investigation that revealed the possible explosives. However, after the initial notice of this incident, the Nassau County Police Commissioner stated that the reports were false, and that the incident involved mistaking a training incident for a real-world incident.AC: Details of this incident remain highly suspect, and contradict statements made by police. The driver of the vehicle initially fled from the scene on foot, taking cover in a wooded area adjacent to the site of the initial incident. It's also not entirely clear as to if the personnel involved in the alleged training scare were actually law enforcement entities, nor is It clear as to how a training scenario could be undertaken in such proximity to a real-world event such as this. Training exercises are usually not conducted in any situation where a fake IED threat could be confused with a real threat; smaller training opportunities at real world events can happen (especially with the use of K9s), however a VBIED training scenario being conducted in the vicinity of such a high-profile event, is highly suspect. One detail that lends to the suspicious nature of this incident is that authorities have confirmed that the individual with the K9 that initially reported the explosives, has been detained.Consequently, though entirely and completely speculative at this time, this event could have indeed been a real incident. Again, this is completely speculative, however the details of this event as presented to the public are highly suspicious and not in keeping with standard law enforcement practices involving training with explosive devices. Considering the lack of trust and confidence in the varying agencies assigned to protect Trump, the possibility (however speculative it may be) that there is more to this story than a simple training mistake, would be wise to consider.-----END TEARLINE-----Analyst Comments: After a second wave of Israeli clandestine targeting in Lebanon, it's extraordinarily likely that more Israeli IED attacks will continue, as previously stated. The continuance of this targeting vector also strengthens the assessment that Israel is preparing for future combat operations in Lebanon. This operation generally fits within the realm of “shaping fires”, and is doctrinally aligned with softening up an adversary before more substantial targeting takes place.The precedent of this continuing operation cannot be overstated. No Positive Identification (PID) criteria, Hostile Intent/Hostile Act, or Rules of Engagement criteria have been provided by Israel lending any sort of legitimacy to these latest targeting efforts in an entirely separate sovereign nation. Demonstrations in Sunderland, Nottingham, Southport, Portsmouth, Hull, Manchester, and Middlesbrough have been organized this weekend to protest PM Starmer's decision to launch a special task force to investigate protests of knife attacks, instead of the knife attacks themselves.Contributing to the palpable outrage, the media has routinely used photographs of the attacker from when he was a small child in the press coverage of the event, with some media outlets calling him a “quiet schoolboy” who “starred in a musical”. This factor alone has worsened the situation once locals discovered that the attacker was a full-grown man who was observed to be laughing in court when he appeared before the judge immediately after the attack. This deal allegedly removes the death penalty from being sought for Mohammad's role in the attacks.In Congress, Senator Graham has introduced S.J.Res.106, a joint resolution to preemptively declare war on Iran under the War Powers Resolution due to Iranian threats to Israel.Virginia: Two probable terrorists were released by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) after posting a combined $25,000 bail. Hasan Yousef Hamdan and Mohammad Khair Dabous were arrested in May for attempting to breach a gate at Marine Corps Base Quantico. Both men are Jordanian nationals who gained entry to the U.S. illegally. Though unconfirmed, at least one of them is allegedly on a terror watchlist. Nevertheless, ICE released these individuals despite both being in the U.S. illegally (one having overstayed a student visa, the other having crossed the southern border illegally).-----END TEARLINE-----Analyst Comments: The recent events taking place to highlight the vulnerabilities within the United States should probably be observed through the lens of normalcy as from a few years ago. IRAN INCREASES PRESENCE PATROLS IN RED SEA. -----BEGIN TEARLINE------International Events-Red Sea/HOA: Diplomatic tensions escalate as an Iranian warship transits into the Red Sea in response to the sinking of Houthi boats. AC: As Iranian forces become more actively involved in the region, the nomenclature of Iranian vessels will become confusing as Iranian Naval organization is like none other. The IRIS ALBORZ (72) is classified by Iran to be a Frigate, but in international terms is really more characteristic of a Destroyer (DD), or a Guided-Missile Destroyer (DDG), depending on the upgrades present onboard. This vessel has been in the area for weeks, but has taken a more direct patrolling profile following the escalation of combat operations in theater. It is also important to note that Iran has strategically placed several intelligence collection vessels in the region, who the U.S. has accused of providing targeting information to Yemen.-HomeFront-NY: An attempted VBIED attack was conducted at the Kodiak Center in Rochester on New Year's Eve. Details are extremely sketchy, but initial reporting indicates that a man attempted to carry out a possible Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED) attack on the crowd gathered in attendance of a holiday concert at the venue, timing the attack for the end of the concert so as to achieve maximum success. Allegedly, the attacker (who has been identified as Michael Avery) filled a rental vehicle with over a dozen containers of gasoline and attempted to conduct a vehicle-ramming attack at the entrance of the theater. An Uber driver (unaware of this plot) was inadvertently involved in a motor vehicle accident (MVA) with the assailant as he made his attack run, which ignited the gasoline prematurely. FBI Joint Terrorism Task Forces (JTTF) and Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) personnel have been observed investigating the hotel room where the attacker staged before the attack, suggesting more deliberate planning was involved in this attack. A suicide note was allegedly found at this location.So far, even the casualty count has been difficult to determine as official statements have not been forthcoming with information. However, piecing together what information is public, two people (possibly the people in the Uber vehicle) were killed, and the assailant also reportedly died of burns at a local hospital shortly after the attack. Three people were also injured in the attack.Analyst Comments:Details regarding the Rochester VBIED attack are few and far between as local authorities have likely been issued orders to conceal details of the investigation as it has become a cultural standard to conceal the mere occurrence of terror attacks from the general public. As such, eyewitness reports from locals are really the only sources for information. Much like the Rainbow Bridge Incident from a few weeks ago (the official story of which still has many intelligence gaps, and is generally dubious in nature), follow-on information will likely not be made public. There are additional details that may indicate that this incident was not isolated, and may have involved other crimes in the general vicinity before the attack. However, details are again too unreliable for any concrete links to be made at this time.However, much operational intelligence can still be gained from this incident. The attacker chose a soft target comprised of large groups of unarmed people, in a location where he knew vehicle barriers would not be emplaced.

Allegedly, two unidentified persons were attempting to enter the US when their vehicle exploded. So far, authorities indicate two occupants of the vehicle were killed, no word on an injuries among CBP personnel. Border crossings IVO Buffalo, NY have been closed ATT, and various agencies and critical infrastructure locations around NY have increased their security posture. The FBI has deployed Joint Terrorism Task Force personnel to all NY points of entry. Authorities are also allegedly searching for a second vehicle of interest involved with the blast earlier today.-Analyst Comments-As this is a developing situation, details are extremely unconfirmed and subject to change. No agency so far has described the incident as a deliberate VBIED attack, but all MSM reporting so far has claimed “unnamed sources” referring to the incident as a deliberate terror attack. However, early footage of the incident indicates this may have been a vehicle ramming attack that resulted in an explosion. ATT it is too early to determine what happened via open source methods.Considering the highly dynamic nature of this incident so far, and from a personal security and risk assessment standpoint, it would behoove citizens to assume this was a deliberate attack until proven otherwise.This incident follows multiple generalized warnings of elevated terrorism risks from multiple entities, but no specific indicators were present to the general public regarding this specific incident. Cris served with 1/8 marines in the Battle for Fallujah. He was a Navy Corpsman for 8yrs and when he served with 1/8 he was already in my second military order (Sea Duty). Cris also served in a Combined Action Platoon with 1/8 at the Haditha Police Station from June 2004 to about Sept 2004. He had jumped in with a Mobile Assault Platoon after the CAP platoon was disbanded due to threats to the city mayor and his family from the opposition. Wyatt Harper interviews his co-host Matt Schoenfeldt on several of his war stories. This will be the first in a series that we will dip into between hosting other guests through out the Army. Matt had six stories outlined out to tell this episode and the guys only managed to cover three of them. We hope you enjoy the details and the tie into what was happening in Baghdad in 2004-05. 141:  Tim Smith is an Operation Iraqi Freedom Veteran and served in the Army from 2003-2007.  He isArmy Operation Iraqi Freedom veteran that was in the Army from 2003-2007 and did a tour in Iraq in 2004. He was in the First Armored Division 4-27FA. His MOS was a 92G which was food service specialist. Because of KBR he did a lot of security for convoys, guard duty, log packs, and detainee guard. He was extended in April 2004 to FOB St. Michaels in Mummidyah right outside of Fallujah. April 29th 8 of his buddies were Killed in Action by a VBIED.  He had some difficulty dealing with that and in 2007 was diagnosed with PTSD, severe chronic conjunctivitis, and tinnitus from all the artillery fire. In 2011 he started cleaning 2 buildings by himself. He now employs over 40 veterans and 9 family members of veterans to clean commercial office space and schools. He was able to serve with some real Heroes that gave everything for our country. GRP 27-On this episode of the I interviewed Derek Pleimen who is an Army veteran, and a part of the Warfighter Foundation. We discussed Derek’s career in the Army, the mission of the Warfighter Foundation, and his recent deployment to Afghanistan as a security contractor. Below is an excerpt from the episode: John Hendricks: So you were in close proximity to Camp Integrity during the attack when Andrew McKenna was killed? Derek Pleimen: Yeah our base was actually right beside Camp Integrity where Sergeant McKenna was at. It was around 10 o clock at night and we were just watching TV, and the explosion went off. It was a VBIED that started it off. They went right into the gate. After that they had actual suicide bombers run in. It sucks being a security contractor sometimes because our main job is to make sure our clients are safe. When that happened we were standing on HESCOS watching the entire fight unfold. We really couldn’t do anything about it unfortunately. We wanted to help, but our bosses wouldn’t let us go, plus we had no comms with the base. We were expecting to be attacked next but it never came. It was a pretty rough night. It was an intense firefight that lasted a few hours unfortunately a great man was killed in Master Sgt. Andrew McKenna.
