In this episode, we talk a little about impulse purchases and 'retail therapy' as a coping mechanism to fill some void of discomfort, anxiety and stress. It's an interesting phenomenon as millions of dollars are invested into targeted marketing that psychologically encourages us to buy more and obtain more; that we constantly need a solution to our problems that we 'didn't know we needed'. So even knowing this, why DO we buy things we don't need? Why DO we give into these impulses? Holla at me on instagram; share with me your thoughts, feelings and questions if any. Why "Do what you love is bad advice" (and what to do instead)
What are Signs of Self Sabotage? Are you too hard on yourself? Are you a perfectionist? The fear of not being perfect enough stops you from doing anything because you fear you will not live up to your expectations? Are you consumed with negative self talk? Do you point out the negative in most any situation especially when referencing yourself?Do you wait until the last minute for most anything you do? To complete a project? To leave the house for a meeting? To prepare your kid’s lunches? Why Do you think we wait until the last minute? Too tired? Feeling overwhelmed? Lazy? Are you disorganized? Is your office, car, bedroom and complete disasterDo you have an imposter syndrome? Like you feel like a phoney or that someone might catch on that you’re not who you say you are?Have you stacked a mile high list of things to do and have taken on way too much than you can handle? Maybe because you can’t say No… or you love to start projects but you don’t finish them … now you’re feeling overwhelmed with the tasks? Are you burned out? Have you just reached a point that you’re just planned exhausted and you’re failing everything you set out to do?Let’s say you said YES to all of the above examples or at least the majority. Now what?So here are some survival tips that I would like to suggest. How badly do you want to fix these problems? What would changing your behaviour and thus the direction of your life truly look like if you took immediate action to make a change? If you truly want to leap over and fix these problems than you must focus heavily on riding yourself of your chemical addictions ( sugars, alcohol, processed foods )The 6 week program focuses heavily on this.Fasting, detoxing, reducing inflammation and recultivating your gut healthOnce you clean your pool, don’t pee in it.Find your Mentors. Your past is behind you. At the end of the day nothing will ever be solved there. Even if you get closure. Even if you have that “conversation” ...even if anything. The memories and how your external environment impacted you as a child will forever live in you. ONLY you can decide to choose 1. Get to a point of acceptance. 2. Have pattern shifting activities when these repetitive, non productive feelings surface. You MUST remove toxic people from your life. Blood or no blood. It is a world of survival of the fittest. Especially today. You have to fight for YOU and the people in your life that bring you value. We are women and we are wired to care… so this will not come naturally , in fact you can face a tremendous amount of guilt. But again, it will come back to …what do you want your future to look like? Much of the same? Or a new reality? So back to our list up at the top. What active steps can you take to reduce the habits of self sabotage?

Recently I purchased a new board for the podcast, they highly coveted and rated RODEcaster Pro. My previous board served me for 10+ years, I am super grateful for it and all the podcasts it recorded me. But it was time to not only upgrade but invest in myself. I found the RODEcaster pro for a significant discount on Facebook market place. When I met with the seller and asked her why she was getting rid of it she said "I was gonna do a podcast but I realized that I won't make as much money as I thought". After some more conversation I found out she never recorded an episodes. This got me thinking how often we cut ourselves short on something we want to try because of our own internal dialogue and the in impact of those around us More importantly to ask ourselves Why DO we do things? What is the motivation behind them? How do the people around us play a role?(Both positively and negatively) How does our internal narrative and dialogue convince us to do or not do things? If you ever wondered how to track clicks for free using Google Analytics you've come to the right place. She looked at me squarely in the face and said, "I didn't touch the skittles cookies at all." So, I asked her to stretch out her tongue. A few seconds went by and it seems as if the wheels in her head started turning rapidly. What happened next I'll explain in a bit... Have you ever had a situation where you wished that you had sufficient evidence as to exactly what brought you success in your business? If you've struggled with tracking clicks using Google Analytics then you'll love this. Many years ago when I first started in the online world I was told that success depended on my ability to track everything. Does hearing that make you feel lazy? Lol!! I know that I felt super lazy to put tracking in place for everything. However, I have learned that if I cannot track it I might as well not be in business at all. Ever wondered how to set up an effective system to track potential buyers in your business for free? In this post, you will learn how to use free tools to set a system or even several systems that will enable you to track your successes effectively. What is Google Analytics? There are effectively two systems set up by Google to track organic traffic to your website. One is called Google Search Console and the other is Google Analytics. The main difference between the two systems is that Google Search Console tracks the traffic from search engines. Whereas Google Analytics tracks search engines, social media, email, direct and referral traffic. Sometimes you may see one segment called 'Other' because Google has not yet determined a name for the source of that traffic. Google Analytics may not be 100% accurate. However, it is the only free tool that offers traffic statistics that is almost correct and it is trusted by everyone in the industry. Because Google is the number one search engine platform in the world it would be difficult to trust another provider. How to Set Up Google Analytics For the purposes of this blog post I will only be focusing on setting up Google Analytics on a WordPress.org website. These same instructions would apply to a WordPress.com environment as well as I set one up for a client in the last few weeks. Step 1 Head over to your WordPress dashboard and click on 'Plugins' then go to 'Add new'. Step 2 Search for the 'GA Google Analytics' plugin by typing in the name. You will notice that there are several plugins on the market that can do this job. However, this plugin by Jeff Star has been proven to be very lightweight and it would not slow down your website or blog. Next head over to the settings area of this Google Analytics plugin and you should see these options. If you don't already have your Google Analytics (GA) tracking ID then you will need to get one. Step 3 Head over to analytics.google.com and login using your existing Google account. If you don't already have a Google account then this is a great time to create one. You will need to create a new account and property. Be sure to follow the instructions that you see on the screen after logging into GA. Step 4 Click on tracking info and Google will automatically assign you with a GA tracking ID. Grab it and put it somewhere safe for now. Step 5 Enter your tracking ID into the section called GA tracking ID in the settings section of your GA Google Analytics plugin. You will need to wait 24-48 hours for the data to populate into the dashboards. Also, if you have not already done so, take the time to set up your Google Search Console as well. It would make sense to use the same Google account for both also be sure to submit your site map after setting this up. Why Do you Need to Track Clicks Once everything is set up in Google Analytics the cli...

Today I’m talking about why I don't stress about homeschooling and how I do that. There are some very practical tips and some thoughts that I have that help me not totally freak out. Key Points from this Episode: There are going to be interruptions, so plan for them! Make food accessible to all your kids that they can reach and take care of those needs on their own. Keep carrots on the bottom shelf in the fridge. Make triple batches of muffins and keep them in the freezer. Have special toys like play dough or animals from the dollar store that get pulled out for younger kids during the school hours so they can be happy while you work with the older kids. If you're using manipulatives with older kids, have enough for the youngers to play with the same kind. If your older kids are using notebooks, have one for your youngers to color in and use during the same time. This lets them feel included in what you are already doing. One of my favorite things about homeschooling is that it allows for the kids to be intentionally involved in the daily household life. I wanted them to have time to help with the dishes, laundry, food prep, etc. We work that into our day and it's part of school for us! It's hard to take the time to teach them the household tasks, but it's an investment in the future for all of us. Make a clipboard (see resources below) with the have-tos for your kids so you aren't the one always dictating what's happening next. Directing to the clipboard makes it one boundary to keep rather than needing to keep boundaries separately for math, and reading, and handwriting, and a chore, etc. Find a system for your papers and notebooks and pencils and pens. I like having one bucket just for notebooking (century and nature in resources below) with the notebooks and writing utensils for that activity that stays out of reach until we are notebooking again. We lock away a lot of our homeschool materials as a training tool to help kids understand that not everything is available all the time. Homeschool is not about school. It's about a lifestyle. Choose curriculum that fits the priorities you have for your kids! (see below for what I use with my kids) Trust that the child is a whole person! They have everything they need to be able to become who they are. Our job is to help cultivate the room to grow. We can't choose the timing. Take a breath and know it'll be okay! I don't feel responsible for creating all these activities that go with homeschooling or all of these amazing experiences. I create space that lets them play out and explore the things that really caught their attention. Trust that time is a great teacher. Trust that space is a great teacher. What do you love? Do more of that. What do you not love? Why? Do less of that. Problem solve! What can I do to make this easier on myself? It's going to be messy and that's okay! Build in some structure so the kids can help with the household stuff so you can have some time for things you want to do too.
What are you most afraid of doing right now? Think of something as it relates to the life you want to be living… Why DO you want to do it? How can you sell yourself on the benefits of doing. Make peace with the worst case scenario. Evaluate - learn from yourself all the way along. Have your own back & believe so deeply in yourself. Believe BEFORE you see it... This is what we cover in todays episode!
Despite the common stereotype of ‘older and crankier,’ psychologists suggest we become more positive as we age. Why? Do our aging brains become worse at detecting threats in the environment? Do we choose to focus on more positive aspects of our experience as we age? And what does the latest scientific research say about one of the major dangers of older age — Alzheimer’s disease? Mara Mather joins Igor and Charles to discuss the neuroscience of emotional aging, the role of the locus coeruleus in memory and attention, emotion-induced blindness, and the parallels between Cardiovascular disease and Alzheimer’s disease. Igor digs into the different roles of culture and the lack of good longitudinal studies of aging, Mara reveals how intense emotions can sharpen some aspects of our memories of an event while blunting others, and Charles learns that he and many others may be on the Alzheimer’s spectrum. Welcome to Episode 30. Special Guest: Mara Mather.
Have you ever gotten to the place of doubting or asking God, "Where are You?" It may be that you are measuring life against a temporal value system instead of eternity. Word of God Church presents…. Gratitude:UnFiltered “Committed to Caring” This is lesson 14 in the Power of Vision series and we are blessed to have you join this broadcast! Feel free to take notes, join in the conversation, and invite a friend! C5…Committed to Caring C5 stands for Committed to Caring. Once again, let’s look to Jesus as our example. Matthew 9:36 But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd. When you look at the multitudes who are weary and scattered, are you moved? Are you committed to caring about those who don’t know the Lord? When Jesus was moved by compassion for these people, what specifically was He moved to do? Matthew 9:37-38 Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. 38 Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.” It is the compassion of Jesus that moves the gospel toward the lost. Now you may not feel very compassionate toward sinners and ungodly people. But that is exactly the reason why you need to commit to the C5 vision. You need to envision the compassionate Savior so that you can become like Him in caring for others. Notice that this passage from the book of Matthew does not stop with the Lord’s prayer request for laborers. It goes on to say… Matthew 10:1 And when He had called His twelve disciples to Him, He gave them power over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease. Compassion is the foundation of the miraculous. Many people today are seeking after signs and wonders. Some seem almost desperate to see a demonstration of the miraculous. But the questions is, Why? Do they want it for the excitement? For the notoriety? For the sheer thrill of it? Or do they want it because they have been moved with compassion for those in need?

I think mostly everyone wants to be fit and healthy--it's the hard work that goes into it that makes it tough. Being a former athlete and a married man, I like to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle for myself but also to still be attractive to my wife. Is she going to leave me if I let myself go and get out of shape? Probably not. But I'd be lying if I said it didn't make me feel good when my wife checks me out and compliments me when I'm standing around naked at home... which is about 97% of the time. Although my wife is a small motivating factor behind why I like to stay fit and healthy, I also do it for myself because I want to reach the latter years of my life and hopefully still be able to be mobile and do some of the things I love to do... and I've got a little vanity, too. I admit it. Do you like to stay fit? Eat healthy? Why? Do you do it for yourself or do you do it for someone else? Do you do it because our society says that you're supposed to look a certain way? Finding out the answer to this question can be just as important as finding out what workout routine or what nutrition plan is the best for you. So many of us fall into the trap of achieving that "perfect" body that has us doing things--whether physically, mentally or nutritionally--that are doing us much more harm than they are good. Join me as I sit down with Sandra Avila (SAvila@Alliant.edu)to discuss an issue that is a lot more prevalent than you may realize: men with eating disorders. Sandra is a Clinical Psychology Doctoral candidate at Alliant University where she recently penned and defended her dissertation project titled "Disordered Eating in Males: An Unrecognized Health Crisis" which we dive into and discuss thoroughly. In her dissertation, she discusses what eating disorders in men can look like and investigates the factors that may cause them, as well as the factors that keep men from seeking help. Her goal is to help healthcare providers be able to better identify disordered eating in men and to validate their experiences in hopes of normalizing their emotional suffer gin and motivate them to take that critical first step in their healing process. This one was very informative and eye opening.

Why DO tyrants boast of wickedness against the godly all day long?
Shaq opens the show this week by declaring Michael Jordan as the best to ever play, and strongly declares that no one else is even close regardless of the names being thrown out. We also talk to new Falcons running back Todd Gurley about why he chose the number 21 in spite of protests from Deion Sanders and what he's doing about his owed money in Los Angeles. And we get a great laugh at Frank Caliendo's hilarious Shaq impression during his call of viral videos. We cut it up in another round of "Why Do", of course we get Borderline and John brings a hilarious round of Match Game. Do you think we are in recovery mode? What should an investor do now? Will the real estate market crash because of Covid-19? Any real estate or finance books you recommend? Ahhhhhh the trials and tribulations of travels.... vacations can either be the best of times.... or the worst!! Melinda and Gina share vacationers stories of hilarious disasters and that which makes up memorable family vacations. And of COURSE we share our own fun stories as well. Why DO we pack so much when we travel?!
Shaquille O'Neal talks a bit about the Kobe tribute in Los Angeles next week, and how he feels he needs to be there to pay tribute. That gets us right into "Dear Shaq", where we get Shaq's thoughts on making Kobe the new NBA logo, why he hasn't taken the advice of Bill Walton and the big man's favorite TV shows. We also attempt to build bridges (and have some laughs) with a new segment called "Why Do"... featuring questions from B-Dog and John about habits of the opposite race. Of course we get Borderline, and we bring back a Shaqcast classic as we play a round of "Who's Bigger".
