Abubaker Abed and Ali Abunimah speak from Dublin, where pressure is mounting for the government to act against Israel's genocide. Lawyer Franck Magennis talks about Zionism's end, and much more.
Rania Khalek hosts a special live episode of Dispatches with Ali Abunimah, executive director of The Electronic Intifada and author of The Battle for Justice in Palestine. They dive into Israel's genocidal war on Gaza, the global silence enabling it, and why this brutal new phase was always Zionism's endgame. From U.S.-funded fascism abroad to rising repression at home, nothing is off the table.
On the Livestream, we spoke with historian Ilan Pappé, learned the latest on Ali Abunimah's Swiss arrest, the sixth prisoner exchange and much more.
Max Blumenthal and Aaron Mate discuss Donald Trump's unraveling of the Ukraine proxy war and the apoplectic reactions from his domestic foes and European leaders as Volodymyr Zelensky is cast aside. They will then be joined by Ali Abunimah of Electronic Intifada, who will discuss his detention in Switzerland in the context of the wider assault on Palestine solidarity and antiwar activism in the West.
In this episode of Going Underground, Grayzone Editor-in-Chief Max Blumenthal dissects Donald Trump's call for greater independent media access to White House press briefings and the broader implications of his media strategy. Blumenthal breaks down his viral confrontation with former Secretary of State Antony Blinken over the U.S. role in Israel's assault on Gaza, as well as Trump's move to cut USAID grants to Ukraine—leading to the swift collapse of Ukrainian media outlets reliant on Western funding. He also exposes the Ukrainian Myrotvorets kill list, detailing the threats he and other journalists have faced for reporting inconvenient truths about NATO's proxy war. The conversation turns to the arrests of The Electronic Intifada's Ali Abunimah in Switzerland and Grayzone journalist Jeremy Loffredo in Israel, underscoring the global crackdown on independent reporting.Blumenthal further unpacks the Biden administration's political maneuvering, including an alleged pardon for Anthony Fauci to shield him from accountability over COVID policies, and how Trump's potential return to the White House could see the most overtly pro-Israel administration in U.S. history. He analyzes Trump's role in advancing Israel's expansionist agenda, including his tacit approval of West Bank annexation and Netanyahu's expectation that a second Trump presidency would back Israel in a regional war against Iran.Check out this no-holds-barred discussion of stories the establishment media won't touch. For more info on Afshin Rattansi's Going Underground: linktree.com/goingundergroundtv

They've arrested another pro-Palestinian journalist, this time in Switzerland. The Electronic Intifada's executive director Ali Abunimah has reportedly been detained by Swiss police in Zurich, after having been interrogated for an hour and released the previous day when entering the country. Abunimah, who is Palestinian-American, has played a leading role in exposing and critiquing the apartheid abuses of Israel for many years. Reading by Tim Foley.
Rania Khalek hosts a special live episode of Dispatches w/ Ali Abunimah, executive director of the Electronic Intifada and author of “The Battle for Justice in Palestine.”
"How can our electorate be informed if we are blocking - intentionally blocking access to information about such a crucial issue?" - Lesley WilliamsJust north of Chicago, in Evanston Illinois, 20-year veteran librarian Lesley Williams became the center of a controversy that involved an invitation to Palestinian author and scholar Ali Abunimeh to speak at a series at the Evanston Public Library. Lesley was then told to "postpone" the reading by her boss. What ensued was a series of public-facing PR gaffes and political maneuvers that eventually brought the author to the library for an engagement, but not before the damage had been done.In the current world of censorship and job separations based on the genocide in Gaza and suppression of Palestinian voices, this might come across your feed as something as a sad "new normal," but the Evanston library incident happened in 2014, and culminated with Lesley's departure from the library three years later.Ten years later, Lesley joins Arabs in Media to share not only the personal side and timeline of what happened at the Evanston Public Library, but exposes in a fascinating talk how the "innocent ol' library" - the original medium for accessing knowledge intellectual freedom - are not just hotspots for book banning the ways we may or may not understand it, but are places where open discussions and knowledge exchanges are also being essentially doxxed. If you followed the story when it first happened, you'll get more depth and perspective on the details surrounding the controversy from that time.As an active member of Jewish Voices for Peace and champion for justice, Leslie shares great insights on everything from the library ethos and Bill of Rights, to why it's so hard to find books about Palestine by Palestinian authors, to how big chain bookstores do a disservice on how they hide the few Palestinian stories they do carry. How are your books placed? How are your community programs programmed? How does this relate to library censorship, the one place you expect information to be accessible? How can you re-think what free-thinking is in this world where people get fired for standing up against genocide? Finally, if you are a book lover and/or someone interested in reading some recommended works, you can't miss this episode. BrownTown invites Rabbi Brant Rosen and Lesley Williams of Tzedek Chicago, a proudly anti-Zionist intentional Jewish congregation based on core values of justice, equity, and solidarity. In this installment, they discuss this current moment in the struggle to Free Palestine with special regards to Brant and Lesley's positionality as Jewish faith leaders and scholars. The gang distinguishes "anti-Zionism" from "anti-Semitism", discusses AIPAC's consistent meddling in US elections, the strategy behind ceasefire resolutions, the work of Palestinian and other scholars writing in solidarity, and more! Ultimately, BrownTown and guests uplift the work in the past 11 months (and beyond) while trying to answer what real solidarity looks like and how to reclaim Judaism from Zionism. #FreePalestine. Ali walks us through last week's report by UN Special Representative of the Secretary-General Pramila Patten, which claims to hold "convincing information" that Hamas raped Israeli hostages. But with no interviews with alleged victims, and no identifying information about alleged witnesses, does the report tell us anything new? And if the most conclusive findings of the report are to cast doubt several rape claims, why was it reported by the New York Times as uncovering new "evidence" -- at least before they walked back their headline? And if Patten admits she did not conduct an "investigation," what does it claim to prove? But first, Ali gives an update on what's been happening this last week in Gaza, including an update on the horrific flour massacre. Subscribe to Bad Faith on YouTube to access our full video library. In this episode of Locust Radio, we read excerpts from Bertolt Brecht's War Primer (1950); listen to readings from Locust Review (2022-2023) — R. Faze's “My Body's Portal to Another Dimension;” Adam Marks' “Rites of Obodena;” and Tish Turl's “Immortality Beaver” (Stink Ape Resurrection Primer). We also listen to music from Pet Mosquito, Omnia Sol, and Shrvg. Laura, Tish, and Adam discuss Project 2025, Agenda 47, and other far-right plans to roll back democratic norms, target trans persons, and implement other reactionary-to-fascist policies in the United States. We also discuss how this is related to Israel's genocidal war on Palestine, and the general authoritarian trajectory of mainstream politics — as expressed in the prosecution of the Cop City organizers in Atlanta, increasing prison sentences for climate protesters, and the recent attempts to ban Palestine solidarity in France, Germany, and the United Kingdom. It's a new era of global power dynamics where countries sometimes have the option to say no to the U.S. Nowhere is this more apparent than in the Middle East. Almost 12 years after being kicked out of the Arab League, Syria has been welcomed back into the fold by many of the U.S.-allied countries that tried to destroy it. All this time Israel was banking on normalization with Saudi Arabia and the opposite happened, with China overseeing a Saudi peace deal with Iran. Why? What does this multipolarity mean for the region? And how might it impact Palestine and the broader resistance axis? To discuss this and more Rania Khalek was joined by Ali Abunimah, executive director of the Electronic Intifada and author of The Battle for Justice in PalestineAli's article discussed in this episode: https://electronicintifada.net/content/why-saudis-have-called-their-israeli-wedding/37561 This is just the first half of this episode. At least nine Palestinians were killed and dozens more wounded by Israeli troops in the Jenin refugee camp on Thursday. On this show, we hear voices of Palestinians, including Electronic Intifada editor Ali Abunimah, speaking out against the apartheid regime and the billions in U.S. support that allows Israel to kill with impunity. Also on the show, a conversation between members of Black Alliance for Peace about their opposition to a call made by the organization Ukrainian Solidarity Network for more arms and military support for Ukraine. With Jacquie L'uqman and Ajamu Baraka. The show is made possible only by our volunteer energy, our resolve to keep the people's voices on the air, and by support from our listeners. It's springtime for fascists in Israel as the secular war criminals are being replaced by an alliance of the far-right, with religious extremists and organizers of racist mob violence. The head of America's Union for Reform Judaism called the appointment of Itamar Ben Gvir as public security minister akin to “appointing David Duke, one of the heads of the KKK, as attorney general.” To discuss this and more, Rania Khalek was joined by Ali Abunimah, director of The Electronic Intifada and author of “The Battle for Justice In Palestine.”Follow Ali on Twitter: https://twitter.com/AliAbunimah?s=20&t=ioocS-46SPCvVtScMCkY1Q Follow The Electronic Intifada on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/user/electronicintifada
As the U.S. pours a seemingly endless amount of weapons into Ukraine to weaken Russia, Western officials and pundits are very casually setting us up for a potential nuclear war that would be catastrophic for humanity. Meanwhile European hardship continues to skyrocket as sanctions on Russia destroy its economy and cause gas shortages while European leaders and media demonstrate shocking levels of racism and hypocrisy. To help make sense of it all Rania Khalek is joined by Ali Abunimah, director of The Electronic Intifada and author of “The Battle for Justice In Palestine.”Follow The Electronic Intifada on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/electronicintifadaListen to every episode of Rania Khalek Dispatches anywhere you get podcasts.Apple: https://apple.co/3zeYpeW Spotify: https://spoti.fi/3za9DRK

The occupation of Palestine continues with no end in sight, and this remains the primary political struggle in the region as America's client states normalize with Israel. But now there's a new backdrop: the war in Ukraine exposing Western double standards alongside the US-China New Cold War. Fundamental to US geostrategic aims in the region is taming the “axis of resistance” stretching from Iraq to Iran to Syria to Lebanon and Palestine. This played out in yet another Israeli bombing campaign against the besieged Gaza Strip. Here to help us understand the state of the resistance in Palestine and beyond, and the shifting regional alliances in the Middle East is Ali Abunimah, executive director of the Electronic Intifada and author of “The Battle for Justice in Palestine.”Follow the Electronic Intifada on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/user/electronicintifadaListen to every episode of Rania Khalek Dispatches anywhere you get podcasts.Apple: https://apple.co/3zeYpeW Spotify: https://spoti.fi/3za9DRKTIME CODES0:00 Intro2:11 Palestine as central to anti-imperialist resistance 5:15 Why does Israel keep killing Palestinians? “Mowing the lawn” 15:33 Why is Israel attacking the West Bank?23:49 Armed resistance & Ukraine double standards34:26 What is the right to resist? 45:06 Iran backs the resistance Resistance Axis stronger than ever 47:54 Potential war? Become a Useful Idiot for extended interviews and bonus content at http://usefulidiots.substack.com After another Israeli murder of a Palestinian journalist, The Electronic Intifada's Ali Abunimah shares a scary truth: “The message Israel drove home with the killing of Shireen Abu Akleh was that no matter who you are, how famous you are, or what religion you are, no Palestinian is safe from Israel.” With US backing, Israel has been free to kill with impunity. But seeing the Palestinian people unite in protest after each massacre, Ali has hope. “Palestinians are coming back together with every Israeli atrocity, and that is really terrifying for Israel because divide-and-rule has always been their strongest and most successful tactic.” They don't have the US government on their side, or deadly US weapons, or any truth from US corporate media, but their growing anger and spirit is creating a stronger, unified Palestine. And subscribe for the extended interview, where Ali discusses Israel's sickening actions at Shireen Abu Akleh's funeral, racist and violent flag marches, the Biden administration's hypocritical policies, and the collapsing support for Israel around the world. Plus, Biden's getting smothered, Marjorie Taylor Greene in a peach tree dish, and 15,000 pounds of hot dog paste. It's all this, and more, on this week's episode of Useful Idiots. Check it out. One year after Zionist extremists in Jerusalem provoked a defiant response from Palestinians in occupied Gaza, the same scenario is now repeating. Israelis are attacking Palestinian worshippers at Al Aqsa mosque during Ramadan, executing Palestinians in the occupied West Bank and once again bombing Gaza, but without any of the Western sympathy expressed for Ukrainian victims or condemnation against their aggressors. In fact, the very nations most zealously supporting the Ukrainains are the ones supporting the Israeli oppressors of the Palestinians. To contextualize the latest Israeli escalation and expose the double standards, Rania Khalek was joined by Ali Abunimah, executive director of the Electronic Intifada and author of “The Battle for Justice in Palestine”.Ali's article that was discussed in this episode: https://electronicintifada.net/content/israel-lobby-group-adl-rehabilitates-hitlers-accomplices-ukraine/35021 Follow the Electronic Intifada on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/user/electronicintifadaTIME CODES0:00 Intro3:22 What's going on in Palestine?7:47 Why does Israel attack Al Aqsa Mosque?19:26 Repeat of last year?23:18 Native collaborators32:07 Israeli policy in Gaza: “kill and kill and kill”37:41 Ukraine, Palestine and weaponizing religion43:11 Whitewashing Nazis50:37 Right-wing diaspora1:00:51 EU hypocrisy 1:06:10 Invisible war crimes, invisible victims1:10:43 Malcolm Nance becomes a foreign fighter1:15:27 Blowback
