A very special edition of the show, with features on Robbie Burns Day, freedom for Malian singer Rokia Traoré, and tributes to Garth Hudson - the last surviving member of The Band - and to French folk singer Gabriel Yacoub, both of whom died this week. There were also a few concert previews, and some exciting new releases on this auspicious date: 25 25 - with a tune called "25%" thrown in for good measure! (The show started 12 minutes late for no apparent reason. Just some sort of computer glitch, I think. So if you missed anything, you can always tune in to the podcast any time. As long as I can figure out how to record the show when it started at the wrong time!)

I had the pleasure of meeting Nash at a dinner party I went to recently with a beautiful room full of amazing women. We sat next to each other and instantly connected. She's warm, funny, engaging and super driven! I immediately followed up so that I could have her share her story on this podcast. We recorded at her store, Milk Money in Wellesley, MA. It's filled with jewelry, clothing, accessories and fun home items! When we sat down Nash explained what she was trying to achieve with the store, just one of the many businesses she's run since her 20's. She's been a publisher, publicist, store owner and more. When faced with any new opportunity/challenge it's like she says "oh I can do this" and she does! Cute Clothing Online | Popular Women's Clothing at Milk Money
In this episode, Peter Bandettini hosts Jon Polimeni, Renzo Huber, Nikola Stikov, Luca Vizioli, and Essa Yacoub. They talk about the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM) and Organization for Human Brain Mapping (OHBM) conferences where they have attended both over many years. The conversation revolves around what each meeting offers, how they differ, how we might increase cross-talk, and why that would be a good thing. They also highlight some of the exciting work and developments gleaned from ISMRM that might not appear at OHBM. Enjoy! This is the final episode of Neurosalience Season 4! See you in the next season :) Episode producers: Omer Faruk Gulban

Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis or Bd is one of the most infamous agents of amphibian disease world wide. But did you know that there are multiple lineages other than the Global Panzootic Lineage and that the fungus can be affected by a virus? New research involving the fungus and mycoviruses has shed a fresh light on the virulence of chyrid. In this episode I am joined by researchers Mark Yacoub and Jason Stajich to discuss it. We talk about mycology (the study of fungi) in general, as well as the specifics of what we have learned from the mapping of the Bd genome. We also go on to discuss what can be learned about fungi and other microfauna living within the guts of wild and captive amphibians and how it can potentially help with their survival.Exo Terra is our sponsor this week. Atheer Yacoub has survived starting in and coming up through the NYC comedy scene over the last 15 years, which is a daunting feat unto itself. Yacoub also happens to be Palestinian and has survived living in Palestine under the shadow of an ever-encroaching Israel as well as, of all places, Alabama, bringing her comedy to the forefront at this current moment. As one of the headliners of the upcoming 20th Arab American Comedy Festival, Yacoub talks, on this week's TCB Field Report how the Arab visibility brought about by that very festival (where she now is on the bill) was a big turning point for her comedy and how the last year has galvanized her Palestinian identity in her stand-up. Widad Taleb Yacoub is a Lebanese journalist and a political activist. Presently, she lives in Dubai with her new husband and works as a Senior Reporter for CNN Business Arabic. She became interested in journalism while living in Lebanon and documenting political turmoil on Instagram. She witnessed gruesome horror on August ,4 2020, during the Beirut explosion, prompting her to start over in Saudi. Before that, her family tried to gain German citizenship. Tricked by a family friend into asylum, they lost everything and endured six months in a refugee camp with limited funds and no means to return home. This, coupled with the Beirut blast, led to her developing PTSD. Widad loves her family and advocates for social awareness, particularly for children, in politically unstable regions.
