Fight Oligarchy rallies are setting attendance records in swing states and Republican-controlled Congressional districts across the country. Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Texas Congressman Greg Casar ... and Calexico rocked the house in Tucson on May 22, 2025.Event organizers estimated 3000 for the Tucson rally at Catalina High School. The Midtown neighborhood association warned residents that as many as 7000 people may attend the March 22, 2025 rally. More that 23,000 people filled the football field and bleachers. The beginning of the program was delayed because so many people were still in line, and still streaming in as AOC began to speak. The lines snaked around the neighborhood, and eventually everyone got in. What is an oligarchy, exactly? Is the US entering a period similar to post-Soviet Russia in the 1990s? What do Russian oligarchs have to do with proven interference in the 2016 US election? Julian digs into Russian history to explore parallels with modern-day America. Meet Vladislav Surkov, the architect of both Putin's 25-year rule over what Surkov has dubbed “sovereign democracy,” and the global propaganda strategies generating our post-truth ecosystem of disinformation and conspiracies. There's a reason why politics feels like theater these days, why democracy seems like a pipe dream. While MAGA has a fascism fetish, Putin's invasion of Ukraine might be a better match for Hitler on the verge, with Trump and Co acting as macho-clown versions of Neville Chamberlain. Mid-Atlantic - conversations about US, UK and world politics
The second Trump inauguration was more than just a political spectacle—it was a clear signal of Silicon Valley's growing entrenchment in American governance. Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg, and other tech moguls sat front and center, ahead of cabinet secretaries, embodying a stark new reality: the marriage of big tech and the state is no longer subtle, it's explicit. This week's Mid Atlantic dissects what this means for democracy, corporate power, and the growing rift within the American right.Host Roifield Brown is joined by an incisive panel: progressive strategist Aaron Fisher, political thinker Cory Bernard, campaign strategist Z Cohen Sanchez, and tech entrepreneur Michael Donoghue. Together, they explore whether this alignment is mere corporate pragmatism or a more sinister ideological shift. Fisher warns of the perils of unchecked billionaire influence, Sanchez underscores the Democratic Party's failure to counteract these forces, and Bernard highlights the distinct differences between U.S. and U.K. political structures. Donoghue, speaking from the tech world itself, offers a bleak outlook: billionaires are playing with power like a passing fad, but the systemic consequences are anything but temporary. As Trump's executive orders begin dismantling legal and regulatory frameworks at breakneck speed, the discussion pivots to how opposition forces—particularly the Democrats—should respond. Is it time to watch and wait for fractures in the new ruling class, or is immediate mobilization necessary? The panel is divided, but one thing is clear: the line between corporate control and state power has never been thinner.Five Notable Quotes from the Episode:"Billionaires have always owned America. The difference now is they aren't even pretending otherwise." – Aram Fischer"The Democratic Party treats its movements like inconveniences, while the Republicans elevate theirs into power." – Z Cohen Sanchez"Trump's second term isn't just dangerous—it's disciplined. That's what makes it terrifying." – Cory Bernard"Musk, Zuckerberg, Bezos—they're not just donors, they're shaping policy. That's the death of democracy in real time." – Michael Donoghue"This isn't the Gilded Age. It's the Gilded Age on steroids, with an algorithmic propaganda machine to match." – Roifield Brown Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

It's Hump Day! Emma speaks with Cole Stangler, France-based journalist covering politics, housing, and labor, author of the book Paris Is Not Dead: Surviving Hypergentrification In The City Of Light, to discuss the recent developments after the French elections, and the government's efforts to form a coalition. Then, she speaks with Michael Brenes, historian at Yale, author of the Warfare and Welfare newsletter on SubStack, author of the upcoming book The Rivalry Peril: How Great-Power Competition Threatens Peace And Weakens Democracy, co-authored with Van Jackson, to discuss his recent piece in the Boston Review entitled "The Harris Doctrine." First, Emma runs through updates on Jack Smith's newest indictment, Harris' first sitdown interview as Democratic candidate for President, GOP struggles in Georgia and North Carolina, Larry Hogan's gains in Maryland, the Trump campaign, polling, the RFK campaign, Israel's expansion of their genocidal offensive to the West Bank, Biden's heavy-handed pier mishap, Meta, and Nassau County's mask ban, before expanding on Jack Smith's updated Jan 6 indictment and the response from the Trump campaign. Cole Stangler then dives right into a background on France's recent snap elections, called by Emmanuel Macron in the face of the rising popularity of the far-right, resulting in a left-wing plurality in parliament unified by their anti-fascist aims, with the Macronist center-right coalition finishing in second and the far-right in third. From here, Stangler walks through Macron's astonishing decision over the weeks since to take a hardline stance on refusing to name a left-wing prime minister or allowing the establishment of a left-wing government, taking advantage of a lack of constitutional clarity in the period he is allowed to take in naming a successor. After expanding on how this maneuver is ideologically consistent with Macron's politics, Cole explores the overwhelmingly (and unsurprisingly) negative – but productive – response from the French left, unpacking their plan for pushing Macron to fulfill his constitutional duties, before wrapping up with an assessment of what Macron's failure to name a new PM means for the immediate-future of French governance. Emma is then joined by Michael Brenes, who jumps right into the central parallels in his comparison between the infamous Henry Kissinger and Biden's National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, touching on their expansive roles in administrations pushing foreign policy projects to maintain and strengthen American primacy with little-to-no moral limit, and walking through the particular role Sullivan has played in advancing Joe Biden's hyper-Zionist agenda despite overwhelming public disapproval. Shifting focus, Brenes then looks to Harris' recently named National Security Advisory, Philip Gordon, unpacking his record as Middle East coordinator in Obama's second administration, including his objections to US interventionism and regime change, stance on Israeli apartheid and Palestinian self-determination, and role in advancing the Iran deal, despite Israel's objections. After expanding on some more problematic (if predictable) elements of Gordon's background, Michael parses through the lines between Harris' critique of Biden's approach to Israel's genocide and real signs of a differing agenda, and why Biden's failures offer important lessons in the contradictions of US primacy and imperialism. And in the Fun Half: Emma is joined by RM Brown as they watch Trump call on the Lord to come down and count ballots in California, parse through Tulsi Gabbard's not-so-shocking endorsement of Donald Trump, and listen to Glenn Beck unpack the American Oligarchy. PBD gets some valuable ‘tainment out of Brett Weinstein's cuckoldry at the hands of Elon Musk, and a West Bank settler unpacks colonialism's bad rap, plus, your IMs! On this episode, Will sits down with New York Post Columnist and author of 'The War On The West' Douglas Murray, to discuss what Queen Elizabeth II's passing means for this moment in history. Douglas and Will discuss the historic moments the Queen has lived through and why her passing signals the end of what some may see as a better era. Plus, they look at the complicated history of the British empire but ultimately conclude that despite some drawbacks, England was a force for good in the world. After publishing two first rate essays this week on the need for Americans to resist tyranny, Dr. Lawrence Sellin joined the The Two Mikes to discuss them and the republic's future. Dr. Sellin started by explaining that the U.S. government is irretrievably corrupt and tyrannical, and cannot be reformed. It must be rebuilt from the ground up. He pointed to the intertwined corruption of the two parties, as in McConnell, McCarthy, other Republican Rinos supporting Democrat plans for red-flag laws, which have already been declared unconstitutional. Such bilateral cooperation can mean nothing other than both parties have agreed to ignore the Supreme Court's decisions. Those bipartisan creatures want to destroy constitutional government and leave Americans as serfs, valuable only as targets -- with their property -- for exploitation. Dr. Sellin said that Americans must keep voting, but they must expect that their vote will leave the kleptocracy in charge. In both of his most recent articles, Dr. Sellin contends that (a) Americans must stand up for themselves; (b) that Americans are already standing on the hill to die for; and (c) that everyday Americans must defend themselves against tyranny; and (d) there is no cavalry coming to their rescue. Dr. Sellin asserts that Americans must recall -- or learn for the first time -- that the 2nd Amendment is in the Constitution to allow them to defend their lives and family, their property, and their republic from either criminals or the criminal tyranny of elected politicians. That is why the 2nd Amendment exists, nothing in the Bill of Rights can be expected to survive if the people are not armed and willing to keep what is theirs against all comers. The time has come, Dr. Sellin argues, for communities -- especially rural ones -- to prepare their own defense by organizing militia groups than can ally themselves with and be trained by local pro-constitutional sheriffs and his or her officers. It's time for the American Oligarchy to end! Now you might think that I'm being hyperbolic by calling it an oligarchy. But an oligarchy is simply a small group of people who have control over a country, organization, or an institution. And as I will show in this video, that is the state that this country is in right now with a group of politicians, and wealthy elites who scratch each other's back. To enrich each other, and make sure they stay in power. No this isn't an issue of inequality, unfairness, and morality. If you stick to the end, I will show you that this is a matter of war, as well as life and death.

Welcome to the Peaceful Political Revolution in America Podcast If Bernie's regular castigation of the elites felt justified to you, you'll find this episode especially interesting. Today, I'm going to be talking about the people who gave us our constitution, the Framers. Who were they? What were their intentions? What kind of political system did they create? Does it explain the vast influence of the elites in our society today? In his book, The Hidden History of American Oligarchy, Thom Hartmann writes, "If you were looking for a date when the American Oligarchy started, it would be January 30, 1976. But our guest Jerry Fresia will explain to you why that's not quite true. It actually started on September 17, 1787. It was an overcast day in Philidelphia, the cool temperatures heralding the arrival of autumn as the Framers concluded their deliberations over the new Constitution.Jerry Fresia's rather astounding book, Toward an American Revolution, could be titled the people's history of the U.S. Constitution. It is filled with stunning details about the Framers. Most of those facts have been buried away or happily forgotten by the American public. To our detriment, Americans have never fully come to terms with our Framers. In many ways, we have replaced their legacy with a more convenient fiction. Who were the people who created our constitution and gave birth to the world's greatest superpower? There's a lot to unpack when it comes to the people who wrote our constitution, so let's get started with an intense discussion about the untold history of the Framer's Constitution. Jerry Fresia is a political scientist and renowned artist. He received a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He has taught at numerous US colleges and universities. He left academia in 1989 and settled in San Francisco to pursue a career in painting. What if we told you it's entirely possible that members of the American Ruling Class were mandating an experimental and massively-profitable vaccine for the people while they take cheap, accessible, and largely condemned treatments like Ivermectin and Hydroxychloroquine. Evidence is stacking up that this may be the case and Charlie offers a solution that's never been posed before in our public discourse on the virus. Later in the episode, Charlie's joined by one of the most scathing critics of our American Oligarchy, candidate for US Senate in Ohio and Friend of The Charlie Kirk Show, JD Vance, to talk education, mandates, and much, much more. As Joe Biden continues to find himself in a public polling free-fall, Charlie tries his best to make sense of why the Regime refuses to course correct despite a staggering number of Americans who are apparently appalled by his first 9 months in office. And it's only going to get worse if the latest bombshell exposé from Project Veritas gets the coverage it deserves. To unpack the suppression campaign from Pfizer which caused millions of Americans to be denied religious exemptions, Charlie is joined by Founder & CEO of Project Veritas—James O' Keefe. Listen to this episode in full for an exclusive insight into the next move from America's most effective journalists at PV. What James has to say will truly shock you. Sam and Emma host Ari Rabin-Havt, the former Legislative Director and Chief Policy Advisor to Senator Bernie Sanders, to discuss the prospects of the Senate bipartisan infrastructure bill, as well as the budget reconciliation bill that's supposed to follow it. Then, David Feldman (@David_Feldman_) joins the show in the fun half! Emma, Sam, and Ari discuss the continuous consternation among the Portman-Sinema gang of 10+5, why the timeline has pushed the reconciliation bill into the issue of the infrastructure package, and get into the numbers of it, how they might change, and why the CBO's role in setting the numbers will have to be worked around. They get into bipartisan fetish shaming, why the moderates are fighting an impossible game as Republicans continue to find new parameters and make-or-break issues, before rounding out the infrastructure discussion by touching on how democrats can ensure they spend what they need to, Schumer using last weeks vote to try to force Republican's hand and get their amendments into the bill, and what he's looking to do get into moving this process forwards. Lastly, they talk filibuster and the Sinema-Manchin shield that helps Dems avoid hard votes. Then, the ever emotionally intelligent David Feldman, of the David Feldman Show, joins to discuss the childish nature of marching for M4A, the importance of anonymous donation – such as his most recent gift to the Michael Brooks Legacy Foundation – and why Jimmy Dore, the true everyman moron that always gets it right, nailed his three-dimensional diarrhea on the American oligarchy, before Feldman connects this back to the march for M4A, and why the true oligarchs (AOC and the Squad) are the real reason M4A hasn't come to pass. And in the Fun Half: Emma and Sam cover the Biden Administration's bolstering of Cuban sanctions, and Mick Wallace's kick-ass speech at the EU on the hypocrisy of the West when it comes to Cuba. They also touch on Missouri's Supreme Court expansion of medicare, Mike Lindell's clear-cut data on election fraud, and Byron calls in from Seattle to take on Emma and Sam's stance on lobbying because of all those progressive corporations it would stymy from stopping climate change. In this episode, Dinesh argues that it's not about the woke corporations or the woke CIA or the woke media, because these are all the same people--the new American oligarchy. Kamala Harris insists South Americans want to come to America because of the effects of climate change; Dinesh envisions how a dialog might go between a poor Salvadoran farmer and the cackling Kamala. Also, Senator Josh Hawley joins Dinesh to talk about the best practical ways to fight digital censorship. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Paul Holden and Chris the Plumber sit down to discuss a number of issues around the American oligarchy. Including the failures of partisan leadership in the modern two-party system and historical anecdotes when the mass of humanity finally gets fed up with the happenings of their elites. The conversation then focuses around how globalization has led to an elite class that is no longer tied down by regionalism which affects transparancy and accountability. That and much more on today's episode of Southern Podcast Authority.
Thom Hartmann returns to The Great Battlefield podcast to talk about the latest book in his series "The Hidden History of American Oligarchy: Reclaiming Our Democracy from the Ruling Class".
What if I told you...that only rich people have the ability to affect public policy, and that America is NOT a democracy???? You'd probably laugh at me and say OK Boomer. We all know that already. You're right. But in 2014, two Princeton professors published a study that proved it with SCIENCE. Now you can roll it up and stick it in the eyes of condescending boomers who tell you that you need to vote so the orange man doesn't win. But we're not hopeless pessimists--we also discuss a few ways that you can actually make these old-timey oligarchs listen to us, the bewildered rabble, a.k.a. regular people. We also spend time on some news, both domestic and foreign policy. Some real stories this week. Not just ones about how Donald Trump is still rich even though he's not. Here's to taking the Red Pill, -Jim and Alex

The United States was born in a struggle against the oligarchs of the British aristocracy, and ever since then the history of America has been one of dynamic tension between democracy and oligarchy, asserts author Thom Hartmann. And much like the shock of the 1929 crash woke America up to glaring inequality and the ongoing theft of democracy by that generation’s oligarchs, Hartmann believes that the coronavirus pandemic of 2020 has laid bare how extensively oligarchs have looted our nation’s economic system, gutted governmental institutions, and stolen the wealth of the former middle class. Pulling from his book The Hidden History of American Oligarchy: Reclaiming Our Democracy from the Ruling Class, Hartmann joined us to trace the history of this struggle, from America’s founding to the United States’ war with the feudal Confederacy to President Franklin Roosevelt’s struggle against “economic royalists,” who wanted to block the New Deal. While the oligarchs lost the battle in all of those cases, Hartmann argued that increasing right-wing control of the media, unlimited campaign contributions, and a conservative takeover of the judicial system means we’re now at a crisis point. Hartmann layed out practical measures we can take that he contends will break up media monopolies, limit the influence of money in politics, reclaim the wealth stolen over decades by the oligarchy, and build a movement that will return control of America to “We the People.” Thom Hartmann is a progressive nationally and internationally syndicated talk show host. Talkers Magazine named him America’s most important progressive host and has named his show one of the top ten talk radio shows in the country every year for over a decade. Produced by KSQD90.7FM At what point then is the approach of danger to be expected? I answer, if it ever reach us, it must spring up amongst us. It cannot come from abroad. If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of freemen, we must live through all time, or die by suicide. —Abraham Lincoln, Lyceum Address, 1838 Thom Hartmann, the most popular progressive radio host in America and New York Times bestselling author will be visiting KSQD “Be Bold America!” to talk about his latest book in his Hidden History series, The Hidden History of American Oligarchy: Reclaiming Our Democracy from the Ruling Class. Billionaire oligarchs want to own our republic and they are nearly there thanks to legislation and Supreme Court decisions that they have essentially bought. They put Trump and his political allies into office and support a vast network of think tanks, publications, and social media that everyday pushes our nation closer and closer to police-state tyranny. With the increasing right-wing control of the media, unlimited campaign contributions, and a conservative takeover of the judicial system, we are at a crisis point. Thom will also share his views on the January 6 attack on the Capitol and what role the oligarchy played over the years that led to an insurrection against democracy. Detailing the crack down on Wall Street bets and the rise of the American Oligarchy.
In this episode, I discuss the real reason why the GameStop story horrifies government and big business elites. It’s not about stocks, there’s more behind this. News Picks: The Spectator article about the American Oligarchy, discussed in the show. The White House says they’re “monitoring” the GameStop situation. Ridiculous. Discord bans the wallstreetbets server. Tucker Carlson responds to the GameStop saga. An EMP attack would be catastrophic. The Hidden History of American Oligarchy: Reclaiming Our Democracy from the Ruling Class Paperback by Thom Hartmann Thomhartmann.com Thom Hartmann, the most popular progressive radio host in America and a New York Times bestselling author, looks at the history of the battle against oligarchy in America--and how we can win the latest round. Billionaire oligarchs want to own our republic, and they're nearly there thanks to legislation and Supreme Court decisions that they have essentially bought. They put Trump and his political allies into office and support a vast network of think tanks, publications, and social media that every day push our nation closer and closer to police-state tyranny. The United States was born in a struggle against the oligarchs of the British aristocracy, and ever since then the history of America has been one of dynamic tension between democracy and oligarchy. About Thom Hartmann Thom Hartmann is the four-time Project Censored Award-winning, New York Times best-selling author of 25 books currently in print in over a dozen languages on five continents. Hartmann is also an internationally known speaker on culture and communications, an author, and an innovator in the fields of psychiatry, ecology, and economics. The co-founder (with his wife, Louise) and former Executive Director of The New England Salem Children's Village (1978) and The Hunter School (1997), he has led national innovations in the areas of residential treatment for abused children and private/public education for learning-disabled children. In this episode, Seth Root and Cal Davenport had a conversation with Jay Cost, author of Price of Greatness: Alexander Hamilton, James Madison and the Creation of American Oligarchy, about the statesmanship of James Madison! Enjoy!
We start off today’s show with a look at Trump’s escalating war on immigrants and a recent incident of brutality in a working-class neighborhood in Brooklyn. Early this month, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents tasered and shot 26 year old Eric Diaz-Cruz during a deportation raid on the home of his mother and his mother’s boyfriend. Joining this discussion are Monica Cruz, an organizer with the Party for Socialism and Liberation, and Sophia Weissmann, a local teacher and housing organizer with the Justice Center en El Barrio. Later, we analyze the teachers’ strike in Ontario, Canada, in the context of the larger teacher’s movement that has led to the some of the largest teachers’ strikes across the United States in the past year. We discuss the public response to this movement, as popular media narratives blame teachers and unions for striking rather than finding fault with the lack of resources and funding allocated for public education. Finally, we discuss the Democratic presidential campaign of the billionaire, media mogul, longtime Republican and former NYC mayor, Michael Bloomberg, who has spent a record $676 million of his fortune on his campaign. Bloomberg has garnered criticism over this spending, being branded an “oligarch” by many who also point out the racist, sexist, and anti-worker policies that he enacted during his time in office.
The Oligarchy is scared of the metastasis of the grassroots movement to take back this country. Fear, lies, and misinformation are their tools we must fight to defy.

Jay Cost, author of The Price of Greatness, discusses the political and economic debates between Hamilton and Madison.
In the history of American politics, there are few stories as enigmatic as that of Alexander Hamilton and James Madison's bitterly personal falling out. Together they helped bring the Constitution into being, yet soon after the new republic was born they broke over the meaning of its founding document. Hamilton emphasized economic growth, Madison the importance of republican principles.Jay Cost is the first to argue that both men were right and that their quarrel reveals a fundamental paradox at the heart of the American experiment. He shows that each man in his own way came to accept corruption as a necessary cost of growth. The Price of Greatness reveals the trade-off that made the United States the richest nation in human history, and that continues to fracture our politics to this day.Jay Cost is a Visiting Scholar at the American Enterprise Institute, a columnist at National Review Online, a contributing editorial writer to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, and a contributing editor at the Weekly Standard. He is the author of three books, most recently The Price of Greatness: Alexander Hamilton, James Madison, and the Creation of American Oligarchy. He earned a B.A. with High Distinction in government and history from the University of Virginia, and a Ph.D. in political science from the University of Chicago.
