Leaving a rating, for example, on APPLE PODCASTS, helps new listeners find the show. Finally, if you have made it to this point in the show notes, here is a big THANK YOU from me, to you, for showing some interest in this silly little audio show in which I sit in front of a microphone and talk about comic books. I put a lot of work into these episodes each and every week, and I've spent many sleepless nights, and suffered from more than one attack of overwhelming anxiety, as I continuously worry over the show. Did I choose the right format? Should I have a cohost? Why aren't I producing more episodes this week? Why aren't I podcasting right now instead of typing up all of this? Are my choices in comics driving people away? Is it my voice? My humor? My passion? Do I need a better microphone? Am I wasting my time with all this? Should I start over? Why hasn't anyone downloaded the show today? What am I doing wrong? HAVE I MADE ALL THE WRONG CHOICES!? HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO KNOW!? These are just some of the questions that often buzz around in my head all day, everyday, and while I can often be quite skilled at ignoring it all, there are the rare moments when it all just shuts me down. Despite all of that, I do rather enjoy podcasting. It can be quite therapeutic in a whole lotta ways. But, to be fair, all of it would more than a little pointless without you: THE LISTENER. Without you, I might as well be standing in the middle of an empty field shouting nonsense to the sky, which, if I'm being completely honest, can actually be quite fun. It's just that, people tend to start looking at you differently when they catch you out there. So yes, while I enjoy podcasting, and for much of it, I podcast for me (because I have to talk about this stuff, I mean I just HAVE to), I do this for you as well. So once more, thank you. You, Dear Listener, are aces in my book.

Thirty years ago, Superman died. Then, he came back. We remember the event as a gimmick done to boost sales. Sure. Okay. However, the storyline had a massive impact on the readership, including our young Brad. Today,  DC Comics recalls the fictional catastrophe in The Death of Superman 30th Anniversary Special, exploring the lingering trauma of Kal-El's death. We chat with Dan Jurgens, the original Death of Superman co-architect, about what it was like to kill the Man of Steel, resurrect him, and revisit the narrative thirty years later through the eyes of Superman's son, Jon Kent. In his story, "The Life of Superman," Jurgens reveals how Superman's demise at the hands of Doomsday continues to affect Metropolis as well as Kal-El and his family. Jurgens recalls his earliest Superman memories, the George Reeves television icon of his youth. He considers the character's impact on the culture and the stress and joy it was to challenge such an image in 1992. We worm our way through his emotional experience, contemplating those long-ago feelings ignited while steering the splash page apocalypse that was Superman #75 (Volume 2). We work out our own fee-fees regarding the eradication of the Man of Tomorrow. The Death of Superman 30th Anniversary Special is now available wherever fine comic books are sold. Along with Dan Jurgens, the book features the work of Brett Breeding, Roger Stern, Butch Guice, Louise Simonson, Jon Bogdanove, Jerry Ordway, Tom Grummett, Glenn Whitmore, Doug Hazelwood, and more. It's a who's who of the Superman offices; and an incredibly thoughtful reflection on the nineties event to end all nineties events. Be sure to follow Dan Jurgens on Twitter and Instagram, and keep up to date on his work through his website. On this episode of And I "Quote": Ryan talks with independent fiction writer, Arrow J. Knight of the Jericho's Bane series.Bio: My name is Arrow J Knight, I'm 43 years old, currently residing in Joppa, Maryland. I currently am a master's level graduate from Bowie State University's Mental Health Counseling Program. I graduated with my Master's in Mental Health Counseling in Summer 2021. Where my future aspirations will take me into the clinical field of Therapeutic work. My main modality of study has been Existentialism and Adlerian where I enjoy to writing papers in the field of Imagination lore and sexology under topics considered taboo. I find there is more research to be done in such areas. I am a late bloomer to the world of education. I never thought myself college worthy till a sickness at the age of 34 robbed me of my hearing in my left ear. Working a public sector job, I was threatened with losing my job for the hearing impairment. No other options, I returned to school. All my classes started at the remedial level. Within 4 years I graduated undergraduate from UMUC with a B.A. Degree in English. Having accomplished what, I once thought was impossible, I challenged everything about myself and went on to write novels, screenplays and research articles. I am testament to what one can do when faced with adversity and crisis of existential proportions. I've always wanted to write a fiction novel. There were many reasons, but none stood out more than wanting to be a black author that rights fiction on par with other great fictional works. I didn't want to be thought of as stereotypical by writing the typical realness of society books. I wanted to give people escape from the real. Real is what we do all day every day. I write mainly in the genre of fiction. I like what if scenarios, and closer looks at people that may have been in pivotal moments of our history, but had made a decision other than what we know them for. I like to tell such stories. I have established a platform of fans overtime and will work and continue to build more as I get ready to release book 3. I was inspired to write after following the works of C.S. Lewis, Tolkien, Dwayne McDuffie, Brian Keene, and Brett Breeding. I write to the voice that I hear in my head when writing and creating a universe. I don't censor myself as it may stop the flow. I'll leave that for the editors of my finished product. I've never been the one to seek fame. I'm just looking to find a home to tell great stories. I also want to break the mold, and be a great African American fiction writer that gives escape into worlds where people don't have to be them, but look through the eyes of characters that they can only wish to be.Follow Arrow J.
