For some who had been following The Fall since 'Live At The Witch Trials' and 'Dragnet', 1988's 'The Frenz Experiment' with its more polished and slightly commercial sound might have seemed to be a bit of a sellout. Not so for this week's guest, Manchester record shop co-owner and bass player (The Suncharms) Richard Farnell. Catching them live at a record shop in-store appearance while playing hooky during a school trip into London may have sealed the deal for him, but he contends there's more to this era of The Fall than the unlikely chart success of their covers of 'Victoria' and 'There's A Ghost In My House' might attest. Songs discussed in this episode: There's A Ghost In My House - The Fall; Time Will Tell - The Suncharms; Mr Pharmacist, Totally Wired, Rebellious Jukebox, Fol De Rol, Frenz, Carry Bag Man, Get A Hotel - The Fall; Victoria - The Kinks; All Day and All of the Night - The Stranglers; Victoria - The Fall; Tonight I'm Gonna Rock You Tonight - Spinal Tap; Athlete Cured, In These Times, The Steak Place, Bremen Nacht, Guest Informant, Oswald Defence Lawyer - The Fall; Distant Lights - The Suncharms

Saul was looking at Reddit and found a post about how the person didn't like playing "Lighter" RPGs because they were more work for him in roleplaying than a crunchier systems like Pathfinder. Others also agreed and added comments about why they didn't like RPGs. Saul and Jolene have tried a few "Light RPGs". "If my child needs a gene therapy to live, they should get it and anyone's child should. So let's figure out how to pay for it." - Jake Frenz On the final of four podcasts filmed at a recent healthcare thinktank I hosted in Frisco, Texas, Jake Frenz, the founder and CEO of SmithRx, joined me to share his journey from the Marine Corps to Pharmacy Benefit Management, and what makes him so passionate about ending prescription drug price gouging. Jake and I discussed what some of the core challenges are in the PBM space, why he was so inspired by Mark Cuban's venture Cost Plus Drugs, and what the “watershed” moment in US healthcare will look like. I have got a lot of work to do. I have got a lot of work to do./aiv GAH duh LAH duv WURK tuh DOO/ ①of (機能語で /uv/ )It's one of the best./its WAH nuv the BEST/ ②have (機能語で /uv/ )You have been through a lot./yu(v) bin THROO uh LAH(t)/ ③at (機能語で /ut/ )He's good at playing tennis./hiz GOO du(t) PLE in TE nis/ ④to (機能語で /tuh/ )I need to do that./uh NEE duh DOO thut/(T-flapping) ⑤as (機能語で /us/ )As soon as possible/uz SOO nuz PAH si bol/ ⑥and (機能語で /un(d)/ )You and I are friends./YOO uh NAI er FRENz/ ⑦can (機能後は /kun/ )I can do that/ai kun DOO thu(t)/ ⑧should (機能語で /shu(d)/ )I should keep that./ai shuh KEEP thu(t)/ 今日の練習を通して、機能語はボトムエリアで短くぼそっと曖昧に発音されるために、ほとんどの場合においてuh という音に変わってしまうということがおわかりいただけたのではないかと思います。 --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/drdenglish/message

Was will Martin Sonntag anders machen?

Dan and Erik Talk to Luke Tweedy about his music with Sinner Frenz and running Flat Black Studios in Lone Tree, Iowa. It's an awesome conversation, even if we talk way too much about synthesizers.
It's another Local Round Up! This time we talk about music from Moon Rabbit, Ill Omen, Murnau, Early Girl, Sinner Frenz and Hayes Noble. We also talk a little about posthumous releases and the original ancient alien, Eddie from Iron Maiden.
Kekuhi, Noa, and Kaleiheana all join Drew and Lei in this fun filled episode about backyard manu friends that can be found right outside.
In our knowledge segment, we talk a little bit about a big expense – pharmaceuticals. Many employers don't know that drugs make up 25-30% of their total healthcare spend. In fact, these numbers are projected to get more dramatic, reaching 50% in the next few years. Then we talk with Jake Frenz of SmithRx about the ways that we can continue creating value in the pharmaceutical space, his history of serving in the Marines, and a short digression into… classical music? In between Andrew Clayton's prospects as a classical pianist, ski trips, and some shots taken at golf, we discussed the specific levers that can fix the problems of outsize pharmaceutical prices. Finally, in the “you know they're a knucklehead when…” section, we discussed the role of people skills versus strategic vision in relationship-based businesses. It turns out – who knew? – that if you're giving advice to someone, you need more than a good golf swing and a box of donuts.

Frenz, as promised, here is Carl Phillips' reading our first-ever haiku on The Poet Salon, Kobayashi Issa's "[The world of dew]" or "On the Death of a Child." CARL PHILLIPS is the author of fourteen books of poetry, most recently Pale Colors in a Tall Field (Farrar, Straus and Giroux, 2020). He has won the Kingsley Tufts Award and been a finalist for the National Book Award. He currently teaches at Washington University in St. Louis. Japanese poet KOBAYASHI ISSA, also known as Kobayashi Yataro and Kobayashi Nobuyuki, was born in Kashiwabara, Shinanao province. He eventually took the pen name Issa, which means “cup of tea” or, according to poet Robert Hass, “a single bubble in steeping tea.” Issa's haiku are as attentive to the small creatures of the world—mosquitoes, bats, cats—as they are tinged with sorrow and an awareness of the nuances of human behavior. In addition to haiku, Issa wrote pieces that intertwined prose and poetry, including Journal of My Father's Last Days and The Year of My Life.
