Building a Bridge Between Two Worlds with Aaron Kendle In this riveting episode, we dive deep into the extraordinary journey of Aaron Kendle, who dedicated 16 years to the Navy SEALs, completing six deployments. Kendle began his career as a medic, advanced to become a sniper, and eventually served as a sky-diving instructor for the West Coast SEALs in San Diego. Transitioning from military to civilian life, Kendle embraced a new mission as the CEO of the SEAL Future Fund (SFF), an organization devoted to helping fellow SEALs transition into civilian life and careers, with the creation of tailored resumes, professional coaching, and networking opportunities. Despite a devastating accident that required hand amputation and the discovery and treatment of his life-threatening aortic aneurysm, Aaron proves firsthand that perspective, attitude and determination go a long way in life. Tune in to hear Aaron Kendle's full story and gain valuable insights on leadership, resilience, and the power of community in supporting life transitions. In this episode you will hear: • Q: So what was it that made you want to become a Navy SEAL? A: I started thinking about it before I graduated. 9-11 is what shifted my path. (7:37) • I still going to the VFW. I still love talking to those older guys. It's a different mindset. (11:14) • I heard my name going to Gold Team. As the classes get smaller and smaller, the guys get tighter. (44:33) • We were living in Morgan's house. Every Wednesday, if we were all together, we would go to Outback Steakhouse and get Chocolate Thunder. (50:48) • Aaron speaks about “Extortion,” when 30 servicemen were killed when a Chinook helicopter was shot down in Afghanistan. (57:25) • 2 days later when everything opened up, I remember calling my dad on a sat phone, saying “Hey, it's me. I'm alive. I'd love to stay and chat, but there's a bunch of stuff going on.” (61:59) • The older guys that did 20-30 years. Those are the guys trying to figure out what's the next step? (81:13) • Aaron tells the most ridiculous and compelling story of an accident that resulted in having his hand amputated, and the subsequent hilarious events that followed. (82:12) • “You have an Aortic aneurism. Your Aorta is way oversized.” (98:09) During Covid I'm out there skateboarding. Made this turn, hit a wet patch, and landed directly on my nub. (103:35) • I had a seizure. Out of nowhere. (104:18) If I don't have a goal for something, then I'm not doing anything. (109:16) • Starting running is the worst feeling of all time. To stand there and then begin to run is terrible. (110:13) • I think I owe it to people. 1 - I'm not dead. If I can go out there and suffer a little bit to help motivate people, and make ‘em better than I am, that's our goal. Louisiana was the location for the very first Tarzan movie, back in 1917 when actor Elmo Lincoln swung from the trees near Morgan City where the Atchafalaya Swamp played the role of Africa. Louisiana has produced many more settings including for the early burlesque comedians Abbott and Costello whose rocket flight to mars misfired and they landed in New Orleans where the day happened to be Mardi Gras and they mistook the street maskers for martians. Alfred Richard, a film critic whose gigs include a weekly appearance of WWL TV's morning news and frequent appearance on WYES TV's “Steppin' Out” joins Louisiana Life Executive Editor Errol Laborde, along with producer Kelly Massicot, to talk about the local movie scene. We will also hear the podcast staff's comments on "Barbie" and, as a bonus, Richard's experience in the role of “Chocolate Thunder” as one of the longtime member of the 610 Stompers. It is fun conversation worthy of a movie.

Can a podcast be canceled? Hell no, especially not ours! Bosco, Superman Steve, Isaac aka Chocolate Thunder and Alabama Joe are back at it, folks, kicking off the new year with a bang and proving that no matter the digital age drama, our voices can't be silenced. Get ready for an episode that's equal parts heated debate and belly laughs, as we tackle everything from the absurdity of comedian beefs to the Michigan water crisis, and a courtroom leap that had us thinking we've missed out on a sports star in the making.Strap in as we take a hard look at the complexities of domestic violence and racial bias, ignited by the firestorm of a recent viral couple's brawl. We don't shy away from the controversial – we're stirring the pot on gender norms and racial stereotypes, scrutinizing how the court of public opinion and the legal system handle these sensitive issues. On the flip side, we bring you behind the velvet rope of celebrity life, shining a spotlight on the pressures that stars face, from Katt Williams' comedy scene clashes to the high-stakes world of fame where every move is scrutinized.Wrapping this up with a little bit of everything, we're dishing out thoughts on the soaring prices of trendy food in the Black community, a dream featuring Katt Williams, and the perplexing world of Hollywood. Ever wondered about the curious rise in cost of turkey tails? Or the meaning behind certain terms of endearment? We've got all that plus a gamut of random topics, from the hilarity of pedicure adventures to the anticipation of upcoming movies. So, throw on those headphones, prepare for a wild ride, and join us for an unapologetic journey through laughter and candor, where fact-checking takes a backseat to pure entertainment. Thanks for listening to the Nobody's Talking Podcast. In the annals of NBA lore, former 76ers and Nets center Darryl Dawkins stands out as perhaps the most boisterous and active in perpetuating his own mythology. He was funny, confident, playful, clever, and articulate. Long before the NBA had seen the likes Shaquille O'Neal or even Charles Barkley, Dawkins was THE one-man quote machine. Not many players would name each of their dunks, let alone claim to be from the planet "Lovetron, a place where love is the only currency". Join Once Upon The Dribble as we dissect the man, the myth and the legend with a heart of gold, Chocolate Thunder. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/onceuponadribble/support

Full table for episode 11 when Zac Rankin and Joe Lobbezoo from the Battle Creek Cereal Killers join the boys for a fun night of hockey talk. The crew starts off the night with their final thoughts on the war in New York between the Rangers, the Capitals and the NHL. They then tip their lids to T.J. Oshie's (WAS) emotional and well deserved hat trick during the final game of the set; and Connor McDavid's (EDM) 100 point season and how impressive the feat was to accomplish. Just Chirpin' sends out their get well wishes to Tyler Bertuzzi of the Detroit Red Wings. Then the lights go down and the benders come out, as Joe and Zac talk about their beer league hockey experiences, learning the game, the hockey community and the up coming Silver Puck Challenge tournament. They wrap up this week's show with some hockey locker room hi-jinx; and a "kinda" answer to the question . . . What is "Chocolate Thunder?" In today’s episode we talk about Darryl "Chocolate Thunder" Dawkins and his incredible influence on pop culture because of two famous dunks that he had back in 1979. His influence was so great that his name was used as part of a punchline on Saturday Night Live in 1999. His fame stemmed from his time with the Philadelphia 76ers, but he also played for the New Jersey Nets, Utah Jazz, and Detroit Pistons. Hailing from the planet Lovetron, he was one of the first to perform what we now call a poster dunk. Local film critic, Alfred Richard, wears many hats in the city, but none is as meaningful as Richard’s membership in the 610 Stompers. Each member of this unique “marching” group chooses a nickname for himself. Eight years ago, when Richard joined the group, he was the first person of color in the Stompers. According to Richard, he wanted to choose a “subtle name”; hence, “Chocolate Thunder” was born. While the group’s slogan is “Ordinary men with extraordinary moves”, Richard and his fellow Stompers are anything but ordinary. In this podcast interview, Chocolate Thunder explains the audition process and describes the group’s rigorous practice and performance schedules. Where else but in New Orleans could a group of dancing men in red jackets, blue shorts, and gold shoes delight crowds?
