I have a fun episode to share with you today, and it's a little different than normal! I was a guest on my friend Sarah Zastrow's podcast, Throwing Wrenches Mending Fences, and it was a really powerful conversation that left me feeling so uplifted when I was done. I decided to share that interview with you this week, so you'll still get to hear from me, but also, you'll get to meet and learn from Sarah too (spoiler-she's amazing)! In this episode, we cover: My story of stepping into the farm/rural life + my discovery of the world of personal development, and all that has evolved since then How the pandemic was like an awakening for so many people, and really challenged us to take a closer look at our lives Finding joy, intentionality, and purpose in whatever season of life you're in + still pursuing your unique goals and dreams Taking time to be reflective and ask yourself the hard questions, even when it's uncomfortable Learning to operate from a place of peace and contentment instead of constant stress and chaos Finding balance in the day-to-day life (and why this doesn't mean everything is getting equal parts of your energy and focus) Why workaholism shouldn't be celebrated in agriculture + why it's SO necessary for farming families to set boundaries when it comes to work and family Bringing together the personal growth + business development for yourself with your farm, instead of keeping them totally separate Resources & Links: Download the Farm Stress Bundle The Gap and the Gain by Dan Sullivan & Dr. Benjamin Hardy [affiliate link] Learn more about ASCEND retreats and get on my email list to get all the updates! In this new series on the Driven by DCKAP podcast, we turn the spotlight on the books that have inspired us, as well as undoubtedly thousands of readers, many of which have come up during past interviews with guests here on this podcast. Each month, Founder & CEO of DCKAP and the host of the Driven podcast, Karthik Chidambaram, will highlight an important text in his own library that has the profound ability to help shape your business growth strategy, stoke your entrepreneurial spirit, or inspire your personal journey. In this episode, we review “10x Is Easier Than 2x: How World-Class Entrepreneurs Achieve More by Doing Less” written by Dan Sullivan and Dr. Benjamin Hardy. This book offers tips and strategies for entrepreneurs who want to achieve more by doing less, with the proposition that working harder and longer can help you achieve more by focusing on the unique strengths you have and focusing on the best ways to amplify your impact. Why is it more important to focus on strengths instead of trying to improve weaknesses? How does celebrating your accomplishments, big or small, and taking the time to reflect on how far you've come help to increase your growth? Who is this book really for, and why should you read it? We answer these questions and more in this episode, so be sure to tune in!
Hello Loves, Let me dial you back in time a bit… my birthday is May 25. I woke up this year and thought, “I don't want to live and work this way anymore.” Who's got cake?! I'd fallen into a pretty classic trap of working FOR my business instead of the business working for my LIFE. I needed to get out of the tasky tasks (read: draining) and back to my deep creativity. Because If I'm not living from my full, lit up heart center, I'm not serving at full capacity. So. I made a leap. Quantum. I got super clear on: My zone of genius––doing what only *I* can do. Where we're going to have the most impact in the world, not “maybe” but CLEARLY. Investing in my purpose-driven company. And then I went allllll in. And there was some shaking it up. Happy Birthday. Fast forward to the present… My 10 year business is now a start up. High enthusiasm. Agility as a superpower. A gorgeous chaos. A LOT OF CREATIVE DEEPENING. Doubling down on a heart centered way of doing business = more freedom + more REACH AND IMPACT — for everyone involved. In this very special episode of WITH LOVE, DANIELLE, I am pulling back the curtain on: How I took my business (and life) down to the studs Why it's one of the most heart centered moves I've ever made How we turned alignment into action, organizational + business model changes, AND saved $30,000 (almost) overnight All the details on our (long asked for!) “When it is obvious that the goals cannot be reached, don't adjust the goals, adjust the action steps.” – Confucius What does it take to go from good to great? We often think about achieving more as a long, incremental process. But what if you could grow exponentially and achieve more by doing less? On today's show, you're going to learn about how to achieve 10x growth. Our guest today is Dr. Benjamin Hardy. He is an organizational psychologist, keynote speaker and best-selling author who focuses on the psychology of exponential growth and transformation, future self science, and entrepreneurship. Two things you need to determine when setting a goal. How setting impossible goals can help you seek new solutions. An exercise you can use to reframe your identity. What psychological flexibility is and how to develop it. How operating as your future self can help you gain clarity. Five questions you can ask yourself to solidify your goals and identity. The importance of having clear and concise priorities. How reframing your past can help you transform your identity. The reason you should practice gratitude at the end of the day. In this episode, Dan Sullivan and Dr. Benjamin Hardy discuss the concept of 10x thinking. They explain that 10x thinking frees you from doing things that you're not a genius at and requires finding people who can do things even better than you. This results in increased freedom of time, which can be used to transform yourself, your thinking, and your future. Here's a glance at what you'll discover from Dan, Ben, and Joe in this episode: How 10x thinking increases your freedom of time and transforms your future Where the idea of "10x Is Easier Than 2x" came from and how it expanded Why 2x thinking can lead to a lot of pain and a loss of your freedom of time How you can more easily bring about 10x growth in your professional life Why focusing on WHAT and WHO (not HOW) is one of the keys to going 10x How to reduce complexities and multiply your capabilities and freedom If you'd like to join world-renowned Entrepreneurs at the next Genius Network Event or want to learn more about Genius Network, go to www.GeniusNetwork.com.
In today's episode, I'm going to dive into a topic that has come up NUMEROUS times lately for both myself and amongst many other women in my life. Today is an opportunity for me to ask you, “are your goals what you actually want?” So often we latch onto a goal because we think it sounds good or we think it's something we should achieve. But does that goal actually align with your values and what you want your everyday reality to look like? In this episode, we cover: What is your definition of success? As we approach the new year, I want to encourage you and remind you that nothing magically changes on January 1st. In today's episode, I walk you through a process of reflection and action planning to approach 2023 with intentionality. The thing is… this is the same advice I'd give you whether it was April or September or anytime throughout the year. You're the same person on the first day of January as you are on the last day of December. You don't need a fresh new year to wake up and decide to make changes to your life. BUT, since this topic is fresh on everyone's mind, I'll share my two cents on setting intentions for the new year! In this episode, we cover: Things to consider: What are you most proud of from 2022? Every win - big and small - deserves celebrating What do you want to carry into the new year? What would you like to create more of in the coming year? What do you need to release? Steps to take: Once you've identified the above things, write them down as if they're already true Narrow down your list to top 5 or top 10 - too many things to focus on at once is overwhelming! I'm a big believer in ending the year by creating a vision for the new year ahead. BUT, before we jump the gun and dive into 2023, let's take a moment to reflect back on 2022. Not just reflect, but to really live in the gain of what we've accomplished, what we've learned, and just how far we've come. In this episode, we'll chat about: The 8 questions to ask yourself to reflect on 2022 Looking back instead of only looking forward Everyone has problems in their life, but we have a choice how we see them A better way to measure progress Measuring your current self vs. your former self Encouragement to create a “celebration board” Resources & Links: The Gap and the Gain by Dan Sullivan & Dr. Benjamin Hardy [affiliate link] Guest episode on Discover Ag podcast Shop Spark*l Bands (Use Code Kiah10 for 10% off) [affiliate link] SparklBands - Luxury Hand Crafted Bands for your Apple Watch – Spark*l Sign up for my email newsletter! Last week, we heard from Tower Water's Russell Baskin. He talked about the letter he received from FedEx with the Legionella Legislation from the Commissioner of New York City that forever changed how he does business. He set the scene for what he is about to tell us today: ways we can all start scaling up our Legionella knowledge BEFORE Legionella Legislation pushes us to make hasty adjustments to the ways we treat water in our local communities. Russell is an expert in water treatment, waterborne diseases, and Legionella compliance. He holds a number of certifications including a NY and NJ Pesticide Applicator License, a Certified Water Technologies (CWT) accreditation from the Association of Water Technologies (AWT), and an OSHA 30 Certification. If you haven't listened to episode 265 yet, I suggest you listen to that episode first before listening to this one. My hope is that you learn not only about Legionella but also what you can do as a Water Treater to spread awareness about this bacteria with your customers and team Bottom line: Russell Baskin is going to give you the best advice on what to do before Legionella Legislation is passed in your area. Your roadside friend, as you travel from client to client. -Trace Timestamps: Upcoming Events and Thinking On Water With James [02:14] Continuing the conversation about Legionella and a FedEx package with Russell Baskin [7:00] Top things to start recording today before Legionella Legislation passes in your area [10:30] What is it like to have an account in New York, NY right now? Back in March, we thought about how to calculate the Cycles of Concentration in this series. Now, let's think about how we choose the set point. What will limit how high we can concentrate water in a cooling tower or boiler? What is the basis for these limits? How do you know what the limits are? What guidelines do you use? How does the chemistry you apply to a system impact what the upper limits may be? What water analysis should you run on a system in the future to ensure you are staying within your limits with no problems? Take this week to think about choosing the set point for Cycles of Concentration or Concentration Ratio. Quotes: “You need to get your resources in order. You need to start up things today so you are ready for an emergency tomorrow.” - Russell Baskin “Start recording: model numbers, serial numbers, number of cells, operational data, volume, recirculation rate, filtration vs. no filtration, how it backwashes, any kind of areas that would cause stagnation, what floors the cooling towers are on, and what floors the machinery and pumps are on because inevitably you'll need to a drawing of those systems before laws are passed in our area so you are prepared.” - Russell Baskin “It's (ASHRAE 188) forcing Water Treatment companies to go up and look at the cooling tower, fix alarms on Water Treatment equipment, and test that pumps and controls are working, Legionella testing every 90 days, a full inspection of the tower, and a twice-a-year cleaning.” - Russell Baskin “Water treatment is as much an art as it is a science, and what may work here might not work properly across the street.” - Russell Baskin “You should have an ASSE-12080 Certification in order to write water management plans. It puts a practical spin on Legionella management. I recommend it for any professional water treater.” - Russell Baskin “You want to be an expert in your field because if you are not going to be, one of the major companies out there is going to be.”- Russell Baskin “We need to prove to our clients that we're doing best practices all the time.” - Russell Baskin “The best advice I can give all water treaters: There could be talk about Legionella Legislation right now being worked on by your state legislator. You might not even be aware of it. If there is a draft- get a copy, take it to an attorney, and figure out what you should do about it.” - Russell Baskin “ASHRAE 188 is not just for cooling towers, it is for the entire building.” - Russell Baskin Connect with Russell M. Last week in our goal-setting episode, we mentioned that we'd bring a guest on to talk about finances. Today, that guest is joining us. Moshe Amsel is the host of the Profit with Law Podcast, the founder of the Law Firm Growth summit, a certified Profit First Professional, and a business coach to many law firms. He's also a dad of 6, a paramedic, and a former accountant and IT professional. We truly couldn't ask for a better guest to talk about revenues, financial numbers, and goals related to finances for law firms. Throughout our discussion, Moshe explained all about the problem with goal setting and just leaving it at that. He helped us understand the importance of having a system for making sure we're on track with our goals and course-correcting. Today's episode is part one of this conversation. In it, we revisit goal-setting from a numbers perspective. We dive deeper into setting revenue goals based on our take-home needs. We also talk all about investing vs. spending when we are first building our business. Moshe teaches how much we should be spending, what profit we need for that, and how to shape our mindset around all of this. Next week we will share the second half of the conversation but, for now, tune in to learn all about revenue and profit. Show Highlights: Goal-setting in regards to revenue. How to reverse engineer your revenue goal to reach your profit goal. The profit matrix for any healthy business. Why we need to set big visions. How to translate the profit matrix into a revenue goal. Where our revenue should be going in our law firms. How to shift your perspective from that of a technician to that of a business owner. How to treat investments into your business as sprints. Subscribe and Review We'd appreciate you subscribing to this podcast and leaving an Apple Podcasts review. Functional Medicine Providers: What You Will Learn: Why so many functional medicine providers struggle to achieve growth and prosperity in their practices Why ‘certainty' is such a critical ingredient to the sales and communication process How to develop certainty that leads to boldness and confidence as a practitioner How to use your sense of certainty to connect with patients on a deeper level What FM providers can do to connect their foundational knowledge with biological knowledge under one umbrella of certainty Why connecting with your patients has a more profound effect than presenting them with research The neurophysiology that influences sales and conversions Functional Medicine Providers Need Certainty Dr. Dan Sullivan is a keynote speaker, coach, and entrepreneur with three successful natural health clinics. He also runs a high-level mastermind for functional medicine providers and natural health practitioners that want to take their practices to the next level. Dr. Sullivan's focus is on helping mission-based entrepreneurs create greater influence and conversion in the new economy using results-driven neuroscience strategies. In this episode of The FM Shift, Dr. Sullivan explains how he helps entrepreneurs influence with certainty for greater income and impact. The Key Ingredient I think we can all agree that as natural health care practitioners and functional medicine providers of all disciplines, we are primarily operating our practices on a cash basis. One of the limiting factors in growing our practice and achieving financial freedom is our ability to communicate with our audience and sell. ‘Certainty' is a very critical ingredient in the sales and communication game, and it seeds the ground that we will be able to walk on. Certainty comes from our ability to ask ourselves the difficult questions so we don't ever get stumped. It gives us the confidence and boldness we need to grow as functional medicine providers and build our practices Certainty Sells What do I believe? What do I stand for? What is the philosophy and vision my practice is built on? These are the questions we need to ask ourselves to develop certainty and move the people we encounter. Certainty creates a sense of inspiration, and when you are centered, calm, and confident in your expertise, nothing can shake you. That aura is what draws people to you. It is a powerful source of connection, and ultimately, certainty is what sells.
