In this week's episode while we talk about interesting run-ins with the law, from cash grabbers being arrested for being in the right place at the right time, and the story of that time we got pulled over in a U-Haul for going 0-60 in 35 minutes. We then delve into the age old debate on what has more pull in our lives, nature or nurture. This week's canned inspiration is a German Maibock from Rogue called Dead Guy Ale. We want your recommendations! What is your favorite canned beverage? We‘d love to have a taste and feature it on a future episode. No half stars, we commit and stand by the full level we award. 5-Star: We love it so much, we rave about it to anyone who will listen, and actively hand them out to friends and family to try! 4-Star: We really like it, will proactively get more, and will keep some on hand to enjoy at our next social gathering. 3-Star: It's good, we like it, and equate it to our standard weekend selection. We won't go out of our way to acquire more, but will certainly have it again should the situation arise. 2-Star: It's not great. We will finish this can, but will part ways after, and will likely not meet again in the future. 1-Star: It's terrible. We won't be finishing the can, and will need another, better can, to wash the awful taste out of our mouths. 0-Star: It's so bad, it caused a visceral reaction that made us physically reject it's contents.

Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, which is a sequel to the 2007 original, is so insane it almost works. Nicolas Cage, the Rider or Johnny Blaze, goes full Cage. It's equal parts glorious and dumbfounding. That is the movie in a nutshell. For everything that works—such as the Rider possessing humongous construction equipment—there are far too many other elements that do not. From the dude from Empire Records overacting literally every piece of dialogue to Idris Elba's mindbogglingly bad French accent, there are just far too many palm face moments. That said, it is better than the first—despite what the reviews (18% on Rotten Tomatoes with 114 reviews) and the box office ($132.6 million) may indicate. And, it does feature a whole lot of the Rider murdering bad dudes in all sorts of fire-induced ways. As viewers, that's something we can all get behind. So, sit back, absolve your sins with a Dead Guy Ale from Rogue Brewing Co., and sign a blood-soaked deal with the Devil! I, the Thunderous Wizard (@WriterTLK), Capt. Cash, Chumpzilla, and Mayor McCheese are scraping at the door! This Week’s Segments: Introduction/Plot Breakdown – Was Spirit of Vengeance able to make amends for its disastrous 2007 predecessor? If you, too, have felt serial killer urges at any point while dealing with people in a grocery store... well, officially we have to tell you: you should seek counseling. Unofficially, you should know you're not alone and might find this episode where we read two serial killer books a little validating. "Darkly Dreaming Dexter" by Jeff Lindsay may have a ring of familiarity to it, as it serves as the basis for the Showtime show "Dexter". Trying to switch things up this week, the crew chose beers and reaffirmed, though it wasn't really in question, that we are just not really beer people. We tried, y'all. This book was paired with two brews from Rogue Brewing Company, the aptly named Dead Guy Ale and a Chocolate Nitro Stout.Rounding out our episode with a little grocery store rage, torture, and some other kinks and fetishes we just can't mention here, is "Cold Cole Heart" by K. Webster. You'll find our Flying Dog: Raging Bitch beer pairs perfectly with a few of the characters mentioned therein.Happy to see us, or is that just a book in your pocket? Happy Monday, everybody! This week, Ryan and Alex are trying Dead Guy Ale by Rogue Ales. Rogue Ales started brewing in 1988 in Ashland, Oregon. After the pub opened later that year, Jack (the owner) started looking to expand due to overwhelming success. In early February 1989, Jack wandered to Newport in search of the perfect place for another Rogue Pub. Legend has it that a terrible and unusual snow storm struck, and Jack found himself stranded on the Historic Bay Front, with no way up the hill. He was forced to walk the streets until he met up with Mohave Neimi, founder of the famous Mo’s Clam Chowder. She took him to the original Mo’s restaurant, gave him a bowl of hot clam chowder, and told him about her dream of living above a Bar and how she might just have the perfect spot for the next Rogue Brew Pub. The large building sported 3 full-time apartments upstairs, a sweater shop, art gallery and 1,100 square feet of empty storefront and an 800 square foot garage that was currently being used to store antique cars. Mo offered the vacant space and the garage to Jack, at a very generous price, under two stipulations; that a picture of Mo herself, naked in a bathtub, be forever displayed at the Pub (which is still there today just to the left of the bar) and that Rogue “feed the fishermen”, meaning that Rogue gives back to the local community. This building was known as the Front & Case Building. In Feb of 1989, construction began on the Bay Front Brew Pub. Making this a step up in the world by going from a basement in Ashland to a garage in Newport. Dead Guy Ale is a German Maibock full of rich caramel malts and herbal hop nuances, tied together with a balanced hop bitterness. This week on FDB - Florida Man strikes again! This time with cohort, Florida Woman. We also learn how not to handle a firearm, contemplate what it would be like to be a volcano, and more! Now please kick back, and enjoy another sit down with Friends Drink Beer. I stumbled upon the song "Was The Singing Bellowing" by Eli Keszler while listening to Spotify at work and I immediately knew I wanted to make a Halloween mix. The tune creates this great odd feeling without being too dark. As I have stated here before, I'm not a fan of dark ambient. Especially the dissonant, droney kind of dark ambient. So when I've made Halloween/dark mixes before they have tended to be more off kilter than straight up dark. This mix leans more towards acoustic arrangements than electronic. It also leans heavily on new music with all but 3 or 4 songs having been released in 2018. Grab a bowl of candy, a Dead Guy Ale and sit on the front porch with this mix blaring from the speakers as you wait for the trick-or-treaters to show up. Cheers!
