Send us a textKansas City-based post-metal duo Idle Heirs, featuring Coalesce frontman Sean Ingram and producer/musician Josh Barber, have announced the release of their debut album, Life Is Violence, dropping April 11th, 2025. The album will be celebrated with a record release show the same evening at Warehouse on Broadway in Kansas City, MO, alongside metal heavyweights Norma Jean.Born from necessity and personal upheaval, Life Is Violence is a searing, emotionally charged collection of eight tracks written and recorded in complete creative isolation at Ocean Sound Studio in Norway. The collaboration between Ingram and Barber—longtime friends and kindred spirits—came to fruition after years of false starts, catalyzed by Barber's self-imposed writing retreat in the Pacific Northwest. Surrounded by storms and solitude, he created the sonic foundation for what would become Idle Heirs. The band recently appeared on The Vulgar Display of Podcast, part of The Barn Podcast Network, in which Ingram and Barber discussed their intense creative process, the album's introspective themes of grief, generational trauma, and paternal legacy, and why they originally never intended for these songs to be shared publicly.Singles like Dead Ringer and Pillow Talk give a glimpse into the band's dynamic range—melding haunting atmosphere, crushing weight, and a raw vocal performance that sees Ingram pushing into new territory far beyond his hardcore roots. With Life Is Violence, Idle Heirs offer more than an album—they deliver a moment of vulnerability and defiance, shaped by isolation, purpose, and love.Catch Idle Heirs live on April 11 at Warehouse on Broadway for their official album release show.www.BetterHelp.com/TheBarnhttp://www.betterhelp.com/TheBarn http://www.betterhelp.com/TheBarnThis episode is sponsored by www.betterhelp.com/TheBarn and brought to you as always by The Barn Media Group. What do Donald Trump and Postman Pat have in common? Well Pat has grabbed Jess the cat a few times and Donald... well we won't finish that. What they REALLY have in common is they're both performed excellently by our guest - impressionist Lewis MacLeod. British listeners may know Lewis from his work on the BBC comedy Dead Ringers where he plays the voice of not just Donald Trump but also Boris Johnson and Nigel Farage. Imagine having to get inside those three characters! That's why Lewis is the perfect person to speak to about understanding your Earth leaders. If that's not enough he's also been in a Star Wars movie and you will not guess where George Lucas took him for lunch. Enjoy the 40th episode of Trash Talk... Hosted on Acast.
A new exhibition at London's National Gallery hopes to shed light on artists in 14th Century Siena, who have often been overshadowed by their Tuscan neighbours in Florence. Samira is joined in the studio by one of the curators, Imogen Tedbury, and by Maya Corry, a Renaissance expert from Oxford Brookes University to discuss the astonishing colours and use of gold by artists like Duccio, the Lorenzetti brothers and Simone Martini. The death has been announced of Bill Dare, the creator of Radio 4's The Now Show and Dead Ringers. He nurtured new writers and performers including David Baddiel, Rob Newman, Hugh Dennis and Steve Punt, of The Mary Whitehouse Experience as well as the comedian Jon Holmes, who explains how they first met. Haitian filmmaker Raoul Peck, best-known for his Oscar and BAFTA nominated documentary about James Baldwin 'I Am Not Your Negro', discusses his latest film 'Ernest Cole: Lost and Found', about the brief life of a young South African photographer who had to flee his homeland in 1968 to publish his book of photos which exposed the horrors of apartheid to the world. The Booker and Oscar-nominated writer Colum McCann discusses his thrilling new novel Twist, a dive in to the dark depths of the modern human condition set on board a ship repairing the fragile cables which connect us on the ocean floor. Greetings, audient!David Lynch passed away, and Sagi insisted on embarrassing his memory and us by making a tribute pod.Of course an oeuvre analysis is not Tossers style, but we found a nice angle in comparing his The Lost Highway with David Cronenberg's Dead Ringers. Both movies deal in the impasses and monstrosities of masculine desire, a shared theme that reveals a deep, informative, difference between the two directors, each using the literary device of the double in his own film, but in each director's own unique way, unique language. Jake saw this difference in the light of Nietzsche's old distinction, from The Birth of Tragedy, between the Apollonian and the Dionysian; Sagi suggests that Lynch to Cronenberg is like dream to trauma. We unpack this huge set of knots, and toss many more strands into the air besides. And there's a beautiful Nietzsche quote at the end! So......have a listen.Stars: Beast & Sovereign; Pervs 'R Us; Il vaut mieux Lyotard que jamais.
Nathan and Ryan dive into the eerie and unsettling world of David Cronenberg's Dead Ringers. Starring Jeremy Irons in a chilling dual role as twin gynecologists, this psychological thriller blends body horror with a deep character study of obsession, identity, and decay. The hosts discuss Cronenberg's signature style, Irons' mesmerizing performance, and the film's haunting atmosphere that lingers long after the credits roll. Tune in for a deep cut into one of Cronenberg's most disturbing and underappreciated masterpieces!

On today's podcast I chatted with the comedy actor Jon Culshaw who is known to us all for his many roles and TV appearances. From an early age Jon discovered he had the ability to make people laugh with his impersonations of big characters in his life such as his grandmother's housekeeper, Mrs Jump. From hospital radio to Spitting Image, from Deadringers to the Royal Variety Show, Jon has made us laugh for decades. There is also the serious side with the narration of David Bowie in The Final Take for the BBC World Service and playing the role of Boris Johnson in the Channel 4 docudrama, Partygate. Most of all Jon is a super nice man who is a great listener and has a lovely positive outlook on life. Enjoy the show.! David Cronenberg's “Dead Ringers” was an eye-opening film for Brad Ritter. He first saw the horror movie in 1988 alongside college friends — and he hasn't been able to bring himself to watch it since.“Dead Ringers” exposed Ritter to the world of immersive film, and although he didn't know it at the time, it would lead to his current role as the executive director of Charlotte's only arthouse theater and nonprofit, Independent Picture House, located in NoDa.On this episode of The Charlotte Ledger Podcast, Ritter shares his take on movie soundtracks, the closure of Charlotte's former arthouse theater called Manor Theatre, how Independent Picture House has found success and what's in the nonprofit's future.Ritter was a recipient of The Ledger's 40 Over 40 Award in 2024. The awards celebrate often unheralded people over the age of 40 who are making important contributions to Charlotte. This podcast was produced by Lindsey Banks. For more information about The Charlotte Ledger, or to sign up for our newsletters, visit TheCharlotteLedger.com. The Spoop Bois Derek and Aaron are joined by author V.P. Morris ("ShadowCast," "The Dead Letters Podcast," and "Dead Ringer") to discuss 2002's psychological horror film "May" written and directed by Lucky McKee. They talk about the duality of empathy and disgust for the May character, how underappreciated Anna Faris is as an actress, and the magic pairing of McKee directing and Angela Bettis acting. They also get into the early aughts influenced soundtrack, how the movie is a realistic portrayal of using others, the Frankenstein elements, and many other aspects of the flick. Derek wants to hang out and eat melons. Aaron is reading for fun. V.P. needs more parts. Please check out and order "Dead Ringer" by V.P.
