Taking a big bite out of life, brother/co-host Brian has returned from a birthday celebration trip to New York City and he's back and telling us all about it. He shares about his accessible travel and airport experiences at Toronto Pierson, JFK, and LaGuardia, the music show “An Evening With Ida and Tsunami” at Bowery Ballroom he attended with friend/Outlook guest Nefertiti Matos Olivares on Birthday Eve, and another round (after his experience in London, England) and again he set up an exploration of a city with greeter organisation Big Apple Greeters to be shown around by a local along with meeting up with friends from around the state, including sushi with an upcoming Outlook guest. His snapshot of NYC and most of its boroughs includes a tour of NYC transport including a tactile map of the subway system and its history (one puzzle pieced put together at a time) found Brian checking out the tactile further with an exhibit of subway station turnstyles through the years and an accessible touch tour of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. For us at Outlook though, it wouldn't be the same without audio to tell a fuller tale along with hearing about a few wild New York City encounters with security guards, allowing Brian to get a broader, more personalized feel of the place he's in. Check out audio from the live show he attended, his latest subway and other NYC transport and being live at Grand Central Terminal, and his special time spent on Roosevelt Island and The East River. And time in New York wouldn't be the same, especially a first visit, without stopping in Central Park to listen to some live saxophone music. Brian shares both audio and Be My AI image descriptions of some of the photos he took for sighted family and friends to see what he did, it's a full multi-sensory glimpse of the landmark New York City as we meet Brian beneath the big clock. At one point, he stands with his NYC local guide at FDR's statue there on Roosevelt Island, with The United Nations right there and the words of Roosevelt clearly underscoring some of the dangerous changes sweeping the States these days. Plus, also on The Island, they make a brief stop at the Accessibility Services booth to find out if they have any information for that spot available in braille. Stay tuned for the answer. Along with a sharing of some comforting cuisine prepared by a dear friend, plenty of King of the Hill watched, and a homestay at a Manhattan apartment, with the added benefit of getting to explore NYC with the blind leading the blind, he won't ever forget his first Big Apple experience shown to him by its locals. Daily News Brief by TRT World

US and Israel discuss Gaza, hostages at White House Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced fresh hostage release negotiations for besieged Gaza in a White House meeting with US President Donald Trump. Trump, on the other hand, reiterated his controversial idea of ethnic cleansing and US takeover of Palestinian territory during the same meeting. While acknowledging ongoing efforts, Trump called securing all hostages ""a long process"" and suggested the Gaza war's end wasn't far off. He also predicted Israel's war would end “not in the too-distant future.” Separately, hundreds of pro-Palestinian demonstrators in New York City halted Grand Central Terminal, demanding an end to the ""genocide"" and US support for Israel. Trump threatens 50 percent tariff hike on Chinese imports President Trump has threatened a staggering 50 percent hike in tariffs on Chinese imports unless Beijing backs off its retaliatory plans, raising total US duties to a sky-high 104 percent. The move builds on previous levies tied to fentanyl trafficking and alleged trade abuses. Trump declared talks with China are off the table while negotiations with other nations will begin immediately. The US President's latest move is seen as throwing gasoline on the fire. Beijing is set to retaliate with matching tariffs and export controls on rare earths. Global markets have plunged since Trump announced his tariff policy. Report accuses 10 Brits of war crimes in Gaza A legal bombshell drops in London. About 240-page war crimes dossier has been submitted to London's Metropolitan Police, accusing 10 British nationals of involvement in atrocities in Gaza. Spearheaded by famed barrister Michael Mansfield KC, the report cites crimes against humanity and demands urgent prosecutions. Filed by UK and Palestinian legal groups, the report arrives amid Israel's intense bombardment and violence in Gaza. Pro-Israel groups, including UK Lawyers for Israel, dismiss it as a “publicity stunt,” while supporters call it a bold bid for global justice. US-Iran diplomatic discussions set to take place in Oman Diplomatic channels have opened as Iran announces indirect high-level talks with the US in Oman this Saturday. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi confirmed the meeting, calling it a "test" for America. While US President Donald Trump suggested direct negotiations over Tehran's nuclear programme, Araghchi dismissed the notion, stating that the ball is in America's court. Trump, continuing his threats of military action, emphasised that the talks are in Iran's best interests but warned of ""great danger"" if an agreement fails. Both sides are now preparing for pivotal discussions. Three dire wolf pups bring back an ancient predator to the wild In an almost secluded 8-kilometre-square preserve, three dire wolf pups — Romulus, Remus and Khaleesi — roam once more, marking the revival of an ancient predator. After 13,000 years, the biotech firm Colossal Biosciences has successfully resurrected these Ice Age creatures, blending science with fantasy. This is the first successful de-extinction. Using ancient DNA, the pups serve as a powerful symbol of de-extinction and conservation. With Indigenous collaboration, the project could also help in saving other endangered species, like the red wolf.

What if The Beatles did reunite—and the world was never the same? In this special episode, Christy Alexander Hallberg welcomes acclaimed author, media scholar, and musician Paul Levinson to talk about his novel ‘It's Real Life: An Alternate History of The Beatles', based on his award-winning short story that reimagines a very different musical timeline. Set in 1996, the novel follows legendary New York DJ Pete Fornatale as he heads to Grand Central Terminal—only to discover the music world has shifted in strange and unexpected ways. From speculative “what-ifs” to cultural commentary, this episode explores the legacy of The Beatles through the lens of fiction, nostalgia, and imagination. Paul also reads a captivating excerpt from the novel, giving listeners a taste of this alternate universe where the Fab Four's story didn't end in 1970. Paul Levinson, Ph.D., is professor of communication and media studies at Fordham University in NYC. His nonfiction books, including ‘The Soft Edge', ‘Digital McLuhan', ‘Realspace', ‘Cellphone', and ‘New New Media', have been translated into fifteen languages. His science fiction novels include ‘The Silk Code' (winner of Locus Award for Best First Science Fiction Novel of 1999), ‘Borrowed Tides', ‘The Consciousness Plague', ‘The Pixel Eye', ‘The Plot to Save Socrates', ‘Unburning Alexandria', ‘Chronica', and ‘It's Real Life: An Alternate History of The Beatles'. CONGESTION PRICING

For those of us who live in New York, mass transit is the norm and traffic is a minor form of apocalypse. In response to this persistent issue, New York City implemented a new congestion pricing plan. https://youtu.be/TeObZEnjmv4?si=fQTxzRCe6b-sGH5F Besides the increased funds for badly-needed infrastructure improvements, the plan made other promises. These also include reduced commute times, better air-quality, and improved safety for all road users. https://www.amazon.com/Movement-Yorks-Long-Take-Streets-ebook/dp/B0CV9FNFWV/ Because the sample size is small, it is an open question of whether congestion pricing has delivered? Can it deliver? And how did we get from the horse and buggy, to the street car, to the train and automobile-based system we have now? Will it apply to other cities in the U.S.? Nicole Gelinas and I took some time to trace New York's transportation history in her new book and analyze the prospects for congestion pricing's effectiveness going forward. (*UPDATE: 20 minutes after we stopped recording on 2/19/25, President Trump announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation was pulling its approval of New York City's congestion pricing plan. Governor Holchul has met, apparently unsuccessfully, with President Trump on the topic. Litigation has already started. STAY TUNED.) NICOLE GELINAS, a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder, is a Manhattan Institute senior fellow and contributing editor to City Journal. She lives in New York City. She is the author of the recent book, Movement: New York's Long War to Take Back Its Streets From the Car. Outline How did you get interested in congestion pricing and the development of transportation in NYC? New York City's Transit History What are some of the "tragedies" (Cross Bronx Expressway / death of streetcar) and "near misses" (The Saving of Washington Square Park and Grand Central Terminal) that we don't know about? How much credit or blame should we give Robert Moses? Congestion pricing- what is it trying to do (and is it trying to do too much)? As a revenue raiser To reduce congestion Help environment Quality of Life What are the early returns on its effectiveness?  (Anecdotally, to me it seems like it is having a positive congestion effect in Manhattan)  Uber/Taxis?  Notwithstanding these initiatives, what about these often empty cars? E-Bikes? Now that the city has addressed cars, what about the safety concerns of motorized bikes? How is the program affecting Westchester, Long Island, New Jersey and Connecticut?   As a result of these changes, has the air quality shown any improvement? Meanwhile, is London a Success?  Because of its heady reputation of being one of the most forward cities on congestion control, urban planners trot out London as an example for others. Is this warranted? (However, having been there in November, I thought the traffic was insane! ) Did they do other things to screw up a good initiative? Congestion Pricing's Future (*Before Trump's Involvement) I never met an automatic tax that a politician didn't see to expand and the tax is automatically going up by law, Regarding government's growing addiction to revenue, Will the program expand? Will the borders go north? Brooklyn? Queens?  Or can it go backward under Trump? Regardless, does the MTA have the will to cut costs? Notwithstanding the controversy, is there any political will to enhance safety? Wish list: What would be your favorite next NYC transportation initiative? If we want to learn more, what's the best way to get the book and keep track of your work? On this week's podcast, Bret Thorn, senior food & beverage editor of Nation's Restaurant News and Restaurant Hospitality, said that the holiday season is actually a quiet time for him, with fewer media events as restaurants are busy serving paying customers, so the only party he went to this week was the holiday party of his own company, Informa, where he drank martinis and ate some interesting spring rolls — one topped with trendy chili crisp and another with Southeast Asian aromatics like makrut lime leaf.  Pat Cobe, senior menu editor of Restaurant Business, was at the party too, and noticed how many Espresso Martinis were being ordered. She also found other events to go to, including one at Meduza Mediterrania in NYC's Meatpacking District, which was, in fact, Yelp's top restaurant for 2024, based on reviews. It was very trend-forward with Eastern Mediterranean dips, seafood towers and passed lamb chops. She also checked out a new restaurant at Grand Central Terminal, Grand Brasserie, where she enjoyed a very French trout amandine.  Then Bret shared clips from an interview with Daniel Garwood, who is chef at Acru, a restaurant that opened in New York's West Village in October. Originally from Australia, Garwood arrived in the United States in 2022 and landed a job as sous chef of the popular modern Korean restaurant Atomix before being put in charge of Acru where, among other things, he is serving dry-aged steaks from dairy cows.

Hey, please share this podcast with your friends, family and neighbours or even write a review :). You can contact me on Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/slowgermanwithculture/) or write a mail to learngermanwithculture@web.de .

Here are 3 big things you need to know—   One — Hundreds of anti-Israel demonstrators set off smoke bombs at a protest in New York City this afternoon. They assembled at Union Square and began marching toward Grand Central Terminal.  The protesters demanded a ceasefire in the Israel/Hamas war in Gazas. Two ----  One person is in custody after four sleeping passengers were shot and killed on a Chicago-area train.  Authorities say three of the victims died at the scene, while the fourth was pronounced dead at the hospital.  Chicago Police were able to locate the suspect on a different train and said a firearm was recovered.  The case remains under investigation. And number three — San Francisco 49ers rookie wideout Ricky Pearsall will miss at least the first four games of the NFL season as he recovers from a gunshot wound.  The 23-year-old was released from the hospital on Sunday after he was shot in the chest over the weekend during a robbery attempt.  The 49ers placed him on the non-football injury list.

(soundcloud.com / andoryukesuta)@andoryukesuta The footage from a personal camcorder is recovered by the U.S. Department of Defense in the area "formerly known as Central Park", bearing a disclaimer stating multiple sightings of a case designated "Cloverfield". The camera contains two sets of recordings, mixed together. The earlier footage, recorded on April 27, 2008, shows Robert "Rob" Hawkins waking up with Elizabeth "Beth" McIntyre in her father's apartment above Columbus Circle before embarking on a date across New York City and Coney Island. On May 22, 2008, Rob's brother Jason and Jason's girlfriend Lily Ford, throw a farewell party, celebrating Rob's new job. Jason gets Rob's best friend, Hudson "Hud" Platt, to film testimonials for Rob during the party. Beth, whose feelings are hurt because Rob never called her back after their one night together, brings another man to the party. Beth and Rob argue, and she leaves shortly before a massive earthquake occurs, causing a brief citywide power outage; the local news reports a capsized oil tanker near Liberty Island. From the roof, the partygoers witness an explosion in the distance and flee as flaming debris flies in their direction. As the partygoers leave the building, the severed head of the Statue of Liberty is hurled into the street. In the chaos, Hud records an enormous creature several blocks away collapsing the Woolworth Building before taking cover in a convenience store. When the group attempts to evacuate Manhattan, the creature's tail destroys the Brooklyn Bridge, killing Jason. News reports show the Army National Guard's 42nd Infantry Division attacking the monster and smaller parasitic creatures that fall off its body. Rob receives a message from Beth, who is trapped in her apartment at the Time Warner Center. Rob, followed by Hud, Lily, and Marlena Diamond, venture into Midtown Manhattan to rescue her. They find themselves in a battle between the creature and military, run into the subway, and are attacked by the parasites. While saving Hud, Marlena is bitten by one of the creatures. The four escape the subway and enter an underground mall where they are found by soldiers and taken to a command center nearby. When Marlena begins to bleed from her eyes, she is forcibly taken to a field hospital and explodes. Rob, still intending to save Beth, persuades one of the military commanders to let them go. He is informed when the last evacuation helicopter will depart before the military executes its "Hammer Down Protocol", which will destroy Manhattan to kill the monster. The surviving group travels to Beth's apartment building leaning on a neighboring skyscraper. After crossing roofs from the other building, the group finds Beth impaled on exposed rebar. They free her and make their way to the evacuation site at Grand Central Terminal, where they encounter the creature again. Lily is first rushed into a first helicopter to escape before Rob, Beth, and Hud are taken away in a second helicopter and witness the creature being heavily bombed. The creature remains unfazed and lunges out of the smoke, hitting the second helicopter, and causing it to crash in Central Park, killing all the occupants except Rob, Beth, and Hud.

This week on CounterSpin: It was a big deal when Jewish Americans who oppose US support for Israel's genocidal war on Gaza filled New York's Grand Central Terminal. But not big enough to make the front page of the local paper, the New York Times. US journalists invoke the First Amendment a lot, but not so much when it extends to regular folks using their individual voices, sometimes at significant personal risk, to say NO to something the US government is doing in their name. Some listeners may remember marching with thousands of others in advance of the US war on Iraq, only to come home and find the paper or TV station ignored them utterly, or distorted their effort and their message — as when NBC's Tom Brokaw reported a Washington, DC, anti-war march of at least 100,000 people, met with a couple hundred pro-war counter-protesters, as: “Opponents and supporters of the war marched in cities across the nation on Saturday.” “Protest is the voice of the people,” our guest's organization states. We talk with Chip Gibbons, policy director at Defending Rights & Dissent, this week on CounterSpin. Defending Rights & Dissent aims to invigorate the Bill of Rights and, crucially, to protect our right to political expression.   The post Chip Gibbons on the Right to Protest appeared first on KPFA.

It's Monday, November 13th, A.D. 2023. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus Why Nigeria tops list of 2023 Worst Persecutors Appearing on Washington Watch, the Family Research Council radio show, Jeff King, president of International Christian Concern, explained that Nigeria, Africa now tops the list of the 2023 Worst Persecutors of countries worldwide, edging out North Korea. KING: “Well, North Korea can always be number one or two on the list. We wanted to move Nigeria to the top. “If you look at the last 20 years, imagine up to 100,000 Christians killed, 3.5 million farmers pushed off their lands their land stolen. And this is all from radical Islamists. The mindbender in all this is that, year after year, they come to Washington and they say, ‘Oh, my gosh, this is such a hard problem to tackle. We're doing our best. Maybe if you sent more money or arms, we could do a better job.' “To scale these numbers up to the United States, imagine if in the last 20 years, 400,000 Christians had been murdered, and 18 million people kicked out of their homes and the government never does anything. The reason is because the Islamists are embedded in the government and they control the security organs of the state -- that's Intel, that's police, army, etc. So, Washington, I think, is slowly waking up to this and saying this is actually a religious conflict. They didn't actually even see that before.” The 88-page report documenting the world's most oppressive countries for Christians. Between 200 and 300 million Christians live under persecution – attacks, arrests, forced conversions, denial of rights and more – fueled by radical Islam, communist regimes, discrimination, and plain evil.  Pro-Hamas mob shuts down NYC's Grand Central Station Christian talk show host Todd Starnes reports that New York City's Grand Central Terminal was shut down on Saturday after thousands of pro-Hamas demonstrators, wearing headscarves, stormed the historic building. PROTESTORS: (yelling) “Shut it down. Shut it down.” NEW YORK POLICE: “This is the New York City Police Department. You are unlawfully obstructing pedestrian traffic. You are ordered to disperse now to allow the safe flow of pedestrian traffic. If you do so voluntarily, no charges will be placed against you. If you refuse to disperse, you will be placed under arrest and charged with disorderly conduct.” Viral News NYC tweeted, “Pro-Hamas and pro-Palestinians rioters break windows, spit, and kick cops.” Elsewhere in New York City, violent demonstrators clashed with Jews in Times Square and Columbus Circle outside Central Park. An Israeli flag was set on fire and fake blood was thrown on the front doors of The New York Times. The Netherlands: Abortions up almost 15% in 2022 According to the Dutch Healthcare and Youth Inspectorate, the number of abortions in the Netherlands increased by almost 15% last year, reports Evangelical Focus. The rise in mothers between 25 and 35 years of age who kill their unborn babies was up by 23%. And 13% more teenage mothers chose to abort their children. Proverbs 24:11 says, “Rescue those who are being taken away to death; hold back those who are stumbling to the slaughter.” DeSantis remains number one challenger to Trump According to a RealClearPolitics.com average of polls of Republican presidential contenders between October 17th and November 5th, Donald Trump polled at 58.5% among likely GOP voters.  Florida Governor Ron DeSantis came in at 14.4%, former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley at 9%, and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy at 4.7%. Last Wednesday in Miami, NBC hosted the third Republican presidential debate which Trump chose not to attend.  DeSantis, who has been endorsed by Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds, spoke decisively on key issues like Bidenomics. DeSANTIS: “I'm going to take all the executive orders, the regulations, everything involving Bidenomics, and I'm going to rip it up and I'm going to throw it in the trashcan on Day One where it belongs.” The Florida governor spoke to our southern border. DeSANTIS: “I'm sending the U.S. military to the border. I'm going to stop the invasion cold. If someone in the drug cartels is sneaking fentanyl across the border when I'm president, that's going to be the last thing they do. We're going to shoot them stone cold dead.” DeSantis addressed Hamas-supporting students here in America on a student visa. DeSANTIS: “If you are here on a student visa, as a foreign national, and you're making common cause with Hamas, I'm canceling your visa and I'm sending you home.” And he appealed directly to the voter. DeSANTIS: “I will take the arrows. I will take the barbs because it's not about me. It's about you. It's not about the past. It's about your future. I will always put service above self as President. And, as your president, I will not let you down.” Sen. Joe Manchin not to seek re-election, possible presidential run Democrat Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia, age 76, announced Thursday that he will not seek re-election to the Senate in 2024, reports TheHill.com. MANCHIN: “After months of deliberation and long conversation with my family, I believe in my heart of hearts that I have accomplished what I set out to do for West Virginia. I have made one of the toughest decisions of my life and decided that I will not be running for re-election to the United States Senate.” He was staring down the toughest electoral challenge of his Senatorial career, as West Virginia Republican Governor Jim Justice has increasingly become the favorite to win next year. However, Manchin has long flirted with a 2024 presidential bid with an upstart centrist party, called No Labels, that has shown interest in fielding a bipartisan presidential ticket. Meet Charlie Todd - a professional prankster & also the founder of Improv Everywhere (a New York City-based prank collective with a twist!).Rather than pranks that embarrass people, Improv Everywhere organises large-scale pranks that create chaos & lots of joy in public. The kind of thing that'd make you go, “You'll never believe what just happened!”E.g. ✨ A bunch of strangers ride the subway - without pants!  ✨ 200 people freezing in place for 5 minutes in NYC's Grand Central Terminal - with 37 million views on YouTube! ✨ A man going to work in his socially distanced office - located in the middle of the East River in NYC! ✨ Thousands of people putting on headphones and following the narrator's every word: Walking backwards, freezing, slow dancing, wrapping themselves in toilet paper etc.  ✨ Turning the NYC subway into a spa, complete with complimentary water, sauna station, hot stone massage & a steam room misting station...You get the picture

HEY TENANT...WHAT DO YOU WANT?If you're a commercial office landlord with spaces to fill, that is the million-dollar question! For tenants, options in New York City (and most everywhere else) for office space abound from new construction A-level properties on down, with owners needing to offer a variety of concessions to lure companies in.How About An Office Innovation...MIROBGO, formerly known as BentallGreenOak, developed MIRO or move-in ready offices. It was designed 'to help the landlord commune with tenants to create offices that are ready to work for them from day one'.Do You Ever Wonder had the opportunity to speak with Rob Naso, a BGO managing partner and head of its U.S. asset management. We spoke about the issues faced by BGO by the work-from-home concept focused on work/lifestyle balance that has left many companies wanting to downsize. The competition office building owners face due to 14 million square feet of new modern office space soon to be on the market, but at the same time, the benefit of 1/2 the office space in New York City being obsolete. All of this in the face of an office vacancy rate in NYC of 22.7% in August.BGO has been using the concept of MIRO to deliver pre-builts that are “tech- and hybrid-enabled, emphasizing human-centric design to encourage adaptability, wellness, and collaboration.”'Suites range from 1,000 to 18,000 square feet. Tenants also share access to what BGO is calling “amenity centers” that would include town hall space and various perks such as a wellness center and food options. Lease lengths depend on tenant needs'. (Commercial Observer)BGO is in 14 countries across a variety of commercial property classes, but 685 Third Avenue, near Grand Central Terminal, is one of their properties in NYC where the MIRO concept can be seen and leased. To reach BGO with any inquiries, contact Sam Buckley, Executive Vice President, Leasing, at the information below...W: (212) 359-7835M: (201) 390-7559E: Sam.Buckley@BGO.com________________________________________________Please subscribe to Do You Ever Wonder using the two links below, and don't be shy about sharing the links with your friends.Subscribe on your favorite streaming platform here: https://areyouwondering.buzzsprout.com/shareSubscribe to Do You Ever Wonder on YouTube here:  https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCzmL4Yaump_9Q7tMSChDoUQBe Our Guest! Minute One Hundred Eighteen: From A Game of Follow-the-Arrow to Our Second Odd Mirror Shot of the FilmIn the one-hundred-eighteenth minute of The Avengers...It's the second half of our fantastic single shot traveling from hero to hero, and we're here for it. In this minute, we follow Hawkeye's arrow to the Chitauri it hits to the leviathan it crashes into to Hulk and Thor on the back of the beast. It's quite a ride! Unfortunately, this does lead to more devastating treatment of our dear sea cows of the skies – the leviathan. Hulk and Thor team up to take this poor beast down, and sadly, it crashes into Grand Central Terminal where it not only dies but its eyeball explodes. Who thought that was a good idea to depict? This film already had its fill of eyeball trauma with the ocular extraction instrument, but now this? It's just awful. It does lead to a great punch as Hulk pounds Thor. Before this, they seemed a bit antagonistic but this might just be the start of their love/hate relationship as they both learn they're comfortable beating on each other. Erik, on the other hand, is by himself and comes to on the roof of Stark Tower. We try to deduce why he doesn't go through the same pop art Warhol color trip that Clint went through and think we landed on something that works. We end the minute with a bit of Cap taking out a Chitauri and another funky mirror shot that may not be as cool as the filmmakers thought it was. Good Dirt: Conversations with Leaders in Real Estate & Beyond

Jessica Hughes joined Tishman Speyer in 2018 and is currently responsible for the company's operations in the Boston region including acquisitions, dispositions, asset management, and development. She joined Tishman Speyer from JLL, where she was a Managing Director in the Boston Capital Markets group and a member of JLL's International Capital Group. Previously, she was a Senior Vice President at Beacon Capital Partners, responsible for acquisitions and dispositions in major U.S. markets, as well as establishing Beacon's offshore offices in London and Paris. Jessica has a BA in History from Dartmouth College, where she captained the women's golf team. Having served as President of NAIOP Massachusetts in 2022, she currently serves as Board Chair for the organization. Jess also serves as a board member at the Boston Center for the Arts and is an active participant in many regional charitable endeavors. Our conversation with Jess begins in her hometown of Lowell, Mass where she had early exposure to the economic development activities and related real estate development which were pushing the city forward. Excelling as a student and as a golfer, Jess shares with us the circumstances around a serendipitous corporate recruiting visit which introduced her to an executive involved in the historic Grand Central Terminal redevelopment project. Jess secured a job with LaSalle Partners in New York working on the final ‘punch list' of Grand Central- an iconic project at the time that inspires her (and us) to this day. From there Jess shifted into an analyst role on the capital markets/ investment sales side of the business, a crash course which gave her the toolkit for a career as a ‘deal person'. Moving back to Boston, we discuss Jess' time with Colliers and Trammell Crow before being recruited to join Beacon Capital Partners, kicking off a transformative chapter in her career which brought Jess to London and other international markets, and finally back home and back to the brokerage side for a productive stint at JLL. The bulk of our discussion is appropriately centered Jess' move to Tishman Speyer, where she has done a tremendous job in building the firm's Boston regional platform with a number of the market's most exciting projects. We had a blast catching up with Jess and learned a lot about her path. While every path in this business is unique, Jessica's journey in CRE has been fascinating and we are excited to see what the next decade holds for Jess and Tishman Speyer.Tom Greeleytom.greeley@nmrk.comhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/thomasgreeley/Mike Greeleymichael.greeley@nmrk.comhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/michaelgreeley1/

Minute One Hundred Eleven: From Tony Forgetting Step Two to Bruce's Arrival on an Old MotorbikeEric Deutsch, co-host from Flash Gordon Minute and Escape From New York Minute, joins us in this episode! In the one-hundred-eleventh minute of The Avengers...Tony got the leviathan's attention and it pursues him, but when we cut to Clint and Natasha, we don't see him overhead. Weird, but not really bothersome. This minute focuses on the fight that our non-supers – Clint and Natasha – have with the Chitauri army in front of Grand Central Terminal. They're tough and they each have some great moves! Sure, they're less than super but they still hold their own!It does make us wonder why Cap shows up then. Did he think they needed help? Or does the fact that immediately after he arrives we get Thor and Bruce showing up too, that perhaps everyone thought he was calling for a team meeting? Perhaps. It does lead to a great moment of comedy in the eye of this Chitauri hurricane when Bruce arrives on that old motorcycle. So great.
