Enter... if you dare. It's squealing martial arts and ninja death mayhem as Ali joins us to discuss Enter the Dragon (1973), directed by Robert Clouse and Enter the Ninja (1981), directed by Menahem Golan. Each of these films were seminal in their own way, the first as a tragically premature end-point for Bruce Lee's career, and the second as a statement of intent for the then-new Cannon Films Group. But we also address such existential questions as: IS "wait... what?" the new buzz-phrase of the decade? IS there any greater joy than watching a very small man beat up a very tall man? And of course, the age old conundrum: NINJA or NO NINJA? We will be announcing a Spoiler Territory section for both films, so if you haven't seen them before you listen, you can nevertheless avoid spoilers for Enter the Dragon by skipping ahead to the 1:01:41 mark, and for Enter the Ninja by skipping ahead to 1:45:14. This week on THE BIG 4-0, Ron and Peter celebrate the end of the ENTER THE NINJA trilogy with NINJA III: THE DOMINATION and wish a Happy BIG 4-0 to Cannon Films' ultraviolent DEATH WISH riff sequel EXTERMINATOR 2, reviewing its 1980 predecessor THE EXTERMINATOR as well. Please remember to Rate, Like, and Subscribe; and we'll be back next week to rock Oscar-winner AMADEUS and Charles Bronson as he investigates THE EVIL MEN DO on their BIG 4-0's.
S.F.A. 80s heads to the Phillipines via Japan and gets all ninja up in your ears. You know it's going to be a fun ep when the film covered is from The Cannon Group. Listen In!
It's January 13th, and there are no movies worthy of celebrating their BIG 4-0's at the 1984 box office, so even though it's only our second episode of the new year/season, we're already doing a bonus episode. Last September we celebrated the BIG 4-0's of DEATHSTALKER and REVENGE OF THE NINJA, the sequel to 1981's ENTER THE NINJA. So, this week we're taking a look at that first NINJA film and DEATHSTALKER's sequel, 1987's DEATHSTALKER II. Please remember to Rate, Like, and Subscribe; and we'll be back next week to celebrate the BIG 4-0's of Steve Martin in THE LONELY GUY and Woody Allen's BROADWAY DANNY ROSE. Happy New Year, Everybody! Happy Season Two of THE BIG 4-0!! And Happy BIG 4-0 to our first two films of 1984: The "high school student by day/hooker at night" thriller ANGEL, and the ski-resort-set sex comedy HOT DOG... THE MOVIE; both of which opened on January 13, 1984. It's a new year, but the same Ron and Peter (for better or worse...); and the same request that you guys all please remember to Like, Comment, and Subscribe! Maybe we'll get some theme music in the new season... Stay tuned! We'll be back next week with a BONUS EPISODE. Already?! Yeah; even 40 years ago January was a tough month for quality theatrical releases; so we're piggy backing off an episode we did last fall where we reviewed their 1983 counterparts and looking at ENTER THE NINJA (1981) and DEATHSTALKER II (1987)!
82. "They hadn't found gold for ages." Bang! Ninja kick to the face! Happy new year dunge heads! Welcome once again to our creepy ass bowels. We've got another bumper episode for you, to keep you warm in the winter months. First up, the dungeon duo discuss their favourite movies of 2023, and for the main feature they take a trip back to the early 80s ninja craze to watch Cannon film's Enter the Ninja from 1981. As ever, contains swearing and drunken opinions that could offend, hope you gain some kind of enjoyment from all this, if you do, why not like and share this podcast? Thanks awesome listener! #entertheninja #reviewof2023
On this episode of the podcast, Cannon time! Enter the Ninja is a silly 80s exploitation/martial arts filmed in, where else? The Philippines! Because of course it is. That was a very cheap place to film back in the day, and is the geographical backdrop for many a cult classic. And there's a fun genre cast including Django's Franco Nero, but also the Italian horror staple, Christopher George. When a couple of plantation landowners are harassed by a wealthy developer, the male half enlists an old war buddy to help - a man trained in the deadly arts of the ninja! Soon, the white ninja is beating the holy tar out of every village barfly, and even kicking the crap out of a man with a hook for a hand, a very Bond-esque villain. Tune in!
Our heroes get inside of a ninja.
I'm in a great mood tonight so I'm releasing three of the Cannon Group's films! First is the classic Enter the Ninja which we had so much fun going through that it really shouldn't be allowed. Second is the follow up (although not a sequel), Revenge of the Ninja, which scared the shit out of both Chad and me in the 80's. Still a tremendously good time to watch AND you get Keith Vitali! Bonus! Last for this week is the classic of all classics, American Ninja with Michael Dudikoff and the great Steve James! So buckle in and go for a Cannon ride with us this week! It might just give you an insight into what movie we're recording next!Hey, if you're listening anyway, please subscribe wherever you're getting your podcasts and tell some people who also might enjoy foul-mouthed, ass-kicking movie talk throughs! We'd be in your debt...and you know what THAT means in martial arts movies.More episodes coming next week and new episodes being released as soon as we get a few more recorded!Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/you-have-offended-this-podcast-1. Episode 81 is stealthily creeping up on us. This Saturday, we're bringing the 1980s ninja sub genre to the podcast, with 1981s Enter the Ninja, paired up with Mediator Doppelbock, which the good people at @heaterallenbeer were kind enough to provide. Franco Nero stars as Cole, a white dude trained in the arts of the ninja, who helps his friends defend their farm from some bad dudes. Don't let the fact Nero doesn't know martial arts stop you from enjoying this action movie. We let the smooth, caramelly Doppelbock mediate the episode, and leave the shuriken at home. In this week's episode of the AIPT Movies podcast, Alex, Tim, and Matt discuss the latest attempt to capture a new audience while simultaneously feeding on the nostalgia of an older audience, Ghostbusters: Afterlife! Is this the “Force Awakens” of the Ghostbusters franchise? Exactly how much time do we spend gushing over Paul Rudd? Ninjas were just as much a part of 80s pop culture as big hair, neon, and growing economic disparity, but why? Enter The Ninja, that's why! While not solely responsible for the ninja craze of the 80s, this flick had a lot to do with it! I'm joined by Anthony Abatte to talk about this utterly mediocre flick, and its bizarre influence on pop culture.

Just a bunch of ninjas doing ninja stuff! That's right. The Cannon Bros (Frank and Geoff) are finally covering the 1981 Cannon Ninja classic "Enter The Ninja". And, literally, this is where it all started. Most of the ninja stuff you love in movies came from this and Cannon's complete misunderstanding of ninjas! We talk shirtless nunchuck practice! Ole blueyes himself, Franco Nero, layering one-liner after one-liner! Using his old war buddy's drunken impotence as a green light to play "enter the ninja" with his wife! Is it practical to have an office in a pool? And oh yeah, ninja fighting! You'll question the ethics of the TWO separate cockfighting scenes, but by the end, you'll be joining us in a toast proclaiming, "COMPAI"! Follow us on the socials! We’re moving into the new year by throwing a massive audio party here on the action movie podcast. New Year means new theme, and we’ve decided to throw a New Year’s Ninja Party for the next little while here. That means a non-stop cavalcade of ninja movies until either we get sick of it or the calendar turns over into a new month. First up on our list of ninja canon is the Canon Films movie that started the entire ninja craze of the 1980s, ENTER THE NINJA (1981). It stars Italian actor Franco Nero, the guy who stole Elvis’ wife, and some other dude who did the voice acting as the thickest mustachioed ninja you’ve ever seen in your life.
welcome to the show, this episode is about the movie enter the ninja, a crazy romp through the Philippines full of cockfighting and punches that clearly don't connect. it is our problematic king. please make sure to leave us a review and check out the instagrams: @ypwtpod @cian_beatty @ihatebrad
For years Cannon Films has been celebrated for the mad movies they brought to the big screen in the 1980's. The company's focus on action films made that decade a crazed series of ever escalating, over the top adventures that often seemed uninterested in coherence and mostly concerned with creating a parade of stunts, violence and explosions. They had great success for a while but nearly every time they stepped away from fistfights, gunfights and car crashes they tended to lose a lot money. One of the biggest financial winners for Cannon was the trio of ninja films they produced from 1981 to 1984 starring Japanese martial artist Sho Kosugi as either the bad guy or the hero and sometimes both! Is there anything a ninja can't do? To discuss Cannon's epic ninja trilogy, I'm joined by an old work buddy who I don't get to see as often as I'd like. Brian Smith is a naturally funny guy with a love of exploitation films from the 1980's and a previously hidden childhood history of wishing he could be a ninja. Luckily for us his creative side has allowed him to focus some of that childhood longing into comedy and we end this episode with his hilarious song about the joys of the ninja arts. You have been warned! Brian and I relate our history with ninja films and our mutual love of the more insane aspects of these strange cinematic messes. With REVENGE OF THE NINJA (1983) as our jumping off point Brian tells of his parent's bad reaction to the opening sequence's violence. I think we've all been there. It can be difficult to move past ‘slaughter your whole family ninja violence' and allow a young lad the joys of seeing the drowning of scantily clad women in hot tubs. It's not really a ‘family movie night' kind of film. We have a good time digging deep into the madness of this mess of a movie that seems only barely held together by racial stereotypes, random action scenes and bad ideas. Thank goodness that some of those bad ideas involve turning the stuntmen loose with the camera crew to create some pretty fun stuff. It may not be a good film but it is an entertaining one. We also spend some time on ENTER THE NINJA (1981) and the even crazier NINJA III: THE DOMINATION (1984) to determine which is our favorite. There is even an unplanned sideroad discussion of Saturday morning cartoons in which we bond over the loss of the great Thundarr the Barbarian. There really should have been more episodes of that show made, dammit! You can email the podcast at thebloodypit@gmail.com or join us over on the FaceBook page. We'll be glad to hear from you!

We continue The Year of Cannon by gathering all of our throwing stars, blow guns, nunchucks, and mustaches as we discuss 1981's Enter the Ninja. We are joined by Kevin from the Strange Highways podcast as we all (mostly Paul) fawn over Franco Nero's Cole, an American who shortly after earning the right to be called a Ninja, goes and helps an old war buddy fight off an evil business man who spends most of his time standing by an indoor swimming pool/office berating those around him. Also, there is a surprising amount of cockfighting in a film about ninjas. Do we exit the film in one piece? Listen and find out!
This week on the Offensive, it’s another installment of Sincere Garbage!!! Host Justin Mallari brings in Nathan Schulz (Agents of GUARD, RPGeek Allegories) to help him break down the 1981 Canon Films Classic, Enter the Ninja! Nathan, Justin and the boys (David Armenta, David Boyd) try to make sense out of the insanity that started...

Loved my time with the one and only Jasmine Biala! Jasmine finds no greater joy than singing. From the tender age of 7, Jasmine has been heavily involved with the Filipino-Australian community, singing for various charity events and opening for international music acts. Since completing her Bachelor of Music, Jasmine has been involved in numerous musical contexts – from performing to big audiences, to recording original music. She prides herself on her versatility, growing up with a love for all types of music. Her greatest achievement in her career so far is performing to a sold out crowd with her original group, Enter The Ninja. One of Jasmine’s defining characteristics is her pursuit to make everyone smile through her music. In this episode Jasmine shares her personal story about her vocal health. How she overcame her vocal struggles and continues to wow audiences not only in Sydney but Internationally whilst sailing on the seas! WARNING: This episode contains spoilers. It's time to return to franchise territory as we're heading back to the early 1980's and a (not really) trilogy courtesy of one of our favourite 1980's companies Cannon Films. This time out we're looking at Enter the Ninja, Revenge of the Ninja and Ninja III: The Domination which are the main films responsible for bringing the Japanese art of Ninjutsu to the North American masses. It was also our first exposure to the ultra cool Sho Kosugi. These are three films that helped shape our love of those black clad, gadget wielding silent killers and all of the low brow action flicks from the duo of Golan-Globus. As usual, we start with what we've been watching including a handful of low-budget horror with varying results, a comedy that had Chris questioning just what the Hell was going on in 1987, some homosexual bees(?), and much more! Thanks for listening! Be sure to head to iTunes to subscribe and drop us a five star rating/review - every little bit helps! Links to all our web stuff at www.gbwpodcast.com
J. and Ron kick off Ninja-vember with our review of Enter the Ninja (1981).
Go Ninja Go Ninja Go! Join us as we talk about "Enter the Ninja" and the beginning of the Ninja craze.
One of the greatest exploitation movies ever made makes it's way to the Grindbin. The Cannon Group (Kinjite, Last American Virgin) brings the art of Ninjitsu to American audiences with a movie that was much more successful than it had any right to be. Franco Nero (dubbed and completely miscast) stars along martial arts legend Shô Kosugi and Christopher George (with a scene stealing role) in of the best bad movies ever made.
Get ready to enter action, get ready to enter danger, because we’re reviewing the Menahem Golan martial arts film, Enter the Ninja! In this episode, we talk about whether a ninja star to the head is truly fatal. Also, we question whether water is wet or if pigs can fly! Also on our minds, whether […] The post Enter the Ninja appeared first on Cult Film in Review.
Enter The Ninja (1981) is a Cannon classic from the inimitable Menahem Golan. Franco Nero plays the whitest ninja while Sho Kosugi plays the most kill-happy. We also get a healthy dose of crazy bosses and fun henchmen. After the break Harlo talks more Hardcore Henry, Chuck gives his verdict on HBO’s Confirmation and take more […]
FIRST OFF, THIS IS EPISODE 47 NOT 49, WHICH WILL MAKE SENSE WHEN YOU LISTEN TO THIS EPISODE!! It was a great pleasure to finally sit down with our friend Joe Hardcore (McKay) who you may know from the giant festival he runs, This Is Hardcore Fest, from the many shows he books in Philadelphia, or from some of the bands he has been in like SHATTERED REALM or PUNISHMENT. Regardless, we have known Joe for 20 years, and he has been an important part of the scene here in Philadelphia for even longer. In fact his first band, LTD played the first hardcore show I ever went to. Unlike a lot of folks, I came to hardcore from punk. When I was a freshman in highschool I was listening mostly to a combination of GREEN DAY, CRASS, THE CIRCLE JERKS, and COCKSPARRER thanks to the many weird punks who also went to Collingswood High School. However, that show at the Firenze which we discuss a tiny bit on the episode started me on a journey to where I am now, and I really appreciate that. Joe has been harassing us good naturedly for quite some time about not having him on the show, but the timing just never worked out until now. When we contact him about doing this episode, he knew IMMEDIATELY what he wanted to discuss: NINJA MOVIES! Not just any films either, specifically the work of Sho Kosugi, and mutually we decided to focus on perhaps the best of the Canon Films Group’s ninja trilogy, REVENGE OF THE NINJA!! Predictably, we end up ALL OVER THE DAMN PLACE, but in the best way possible. We covered a small part of many Ninja films, including PRAY FOR DEATH, ENTER THE NINJA, NINJA 3: THE DOMINATION, RAGE OF HONOR, and SUPER NINJAS ( 5 ELMENTS NINJA) It is a pretty great conversation! This was the kind of episode where we had so much we could talk about there was no way we could cover it all, so let us know if you wanna hear a part two sometime soon! We also mentioned a great deal of other films from the work of Takashi Miike to films like THE WITCH, ZOOTOPIA, and KINGDOM OF HEAVEN. SOUND NOTES: Towards the end of the first segment there is a weird buzz in the background. I have no idea why, and it seems to go away in the second segment. Sorry about that, hopefully it doesn’t bother you too much. Other then that episode went great! BIG THANKS TO JOE HARDCORE FOR RECORDING WITH US! BIG THANKS TO ALL OF YOU WHO SUPPORT US, AND TO FOLKS LIKE NICK SPACEK, PHIL SAYNISCH, EVAN VELLELA, SEAN BENNIS-SINE, JUSTIN HARLAN, ETHAN ANDERSON, JUSTIN MILLER, JOSEPH GERVASI, AND ANYONE ELSE WHO HAS POSTED ABOUT US AND SPREAD THE WORD! HUGE UPS TO MAD JOE FROM WISDOM IN CHAINS FOR WEARING OUR SHIRT AT THE JUDGE SHOW, AND TO JUSTIN LORE FOR REPPING US AT MONSTER MANIA!! This episode was a real reminder of how grateful we are to our friends and fans and collaborators who have helped make this thing possible. It is great to be a part of something so awesome. Mike Vanderbilt and Katie Rife of Daily Grindhouse and The A.V. Club sit down with sushi from Evergreen Park's Sesame Inn to discuss The Cannon Ninja Trilogy. While enjoying Sapporo and Horin Sake, Mike and Katie reflect on three popular films from Cannon Pictures: 1981's Enter The Ninja, 1983's Revenge Of The Ninja, and 1984's Ninja III: The Domination. Along the way, the hosts discuss the origins of ninjitsu, Japanese culture, and the best flea markets to find ninja weapons.
This week we continue our journey in the Cannon Ninja trilogy with Revenge Of The Ninja! This one is actually much better than the first and still holds up as a solid ninja action movie. This actually stars the bad ninja from Enter The Ninja, but this time in the role of the hero instead. Why this couldn’t just continue the story of Cole from the first movie? We have no idea! After his family is killed in Japan by ninjas, Cho and his son Kane come to America to start a new life. He opens a doll shop but is unwittingly importing heroin in the dolls. When he finds out that his friend has betrayed him, Cho must prepare for the ultimate battle he has ever been involved in. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/bmoviebreakdown/support
Ninjitsu, the darkest and deadliest of all the Martial Arts. Ninjitsu, a film genre that swept the nation in the early 80’s only to fade in the mid 90’s. So this week on the podcast we have the movie that is credited for starting this craze, 1981’s Enter The Ninja. As noted on last week, this is a true gem in the Cannon Film library. We’ve actually dove head first into the Cannon Film library way back on Episode 18 with Rockula and then again on Episode 32 with Breakin’ 2: Electric Boogaloo. We highly recommend watching the Cannon Films documentary that just hit Netflix, Electric Boogaloo: The Wild Untold Story Of Cannon Films, to see just how insane this production company actually was. It will give you a much better insight on how movies like this week’s Enter The Ninja came to life. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/bmoviebreakdown/support

Zack Hemsey starts off in an Hollywood blockbuster mood before Ninja and Yolandi drop the epicness with Enter The Ninja. Doomtree and Emancipator get heavy with big beats and rhymes. We do a throwback to the Bricolage era with Tobin's Easy Muffin before we slow things down with a little JJ. After the break things really slow down with Eleh's epic bass rumble of an Homage To The Pointed Waveform (proper stereo listening experience recommended). Alva Noto glitches us like no one else can off of Transform before he teams up with Opiate for Opto's lush glitchiness (yes those are birds mixed with sine waves). Raster labelmate Byetone brings some beats and then the mighty Raster Noton supergroup Signal takes us to the close with a heavy dose of Ermafa. www.HoweSoundSystem.com www.facebook.com/howesoundsystem Tracklist: Jack Hemsey - The Calling Die Antwoord - Enter The Ninja Doomtree - Bangarang Emancipator - Shutterbuggin' Remix Amon Tobin - Easy Muffin jj - High Summer Eleh - Reflection 2 Alva Noto - Module 7 Opto - 04.24pm Byetone - Rocky (soft) Signal - Ermafa
In this episode, Sean and I review Enter the Ninja -- quite possibly the Greatest Movie EVER!
2010 turned out to be a great year for independent music. This came as a surprise considering how fantastic last year was. Between Animal Collective, The xx, Phoenix and Dirty Projectors, 2009 looked like it would be hard year to beat. But, as this episode points out, 2010 gave us plenty of artistis that pushed musical boundaries and delivered new and exciting songs. In this episode Noise Pop invites our friends and colleagues to choose their favorite song of the year and give some context to their decision. Here is the guest list and their corresponding song choices: Intro - Tanlines, Real Life 2. Stacy Horne of Noise Pop & Treasure Island Music Festival - Die Antwoord, Enter The Ninja 3. Peter Arko of Ears of the Beholder - Wild Nothing, Golden Haze 4. Caleb Morairity of Yourstru.ly - Delorean, Stay Close 5. Will Abrahamson of Yourstru.ly - Big K.R.I.T., Something 6. Ben Van Houten and Nicole Browner of The Bay Bridged - The Fresh and Only's, Waterfall 7. Mona Dehghan of Domino Records - Beach House, Used to Be 8.
