Here, we get deep but don't worry Academicians*, Heather knows how to swim…As I read,“1997 Mother's Day,” I saw a woman who has lived through the trials, tribulations and challenges of transcending Mama Drama Trauma. In it, Heather exposes her vulnerability in dealing with the most excruciating parts of her journey. Well written, sure, but I wasn't expecting this bright little summer read to enlighten me so much about how MDT can develop empathy, what it takes to build courage for self-care, and the transformative power of reframing maternal burdens into blessings. A journey far from easy, I had to invite this authentically witty and unintentionally wise author (and person as you will hear), who gets it.Another author and speaker I adore is spiritual mystic and medical intuitive, Carolyn Myss who teaches about the difference between fate and destiny. She says fate is tied to “we” and survival which is taught by the family, but destiny is about “I” which is something we must define through individual soul alignment. MDT healing is a lifelong journey to the destiny of “I” which in my experience can take multiple lifetimes. In it, we eventually choose to align by integrating the experience as another form of love. This love is not the kind of we are or are not taught, but the countless internal actions we choose to transform it into the love we need.We hear a lot about brain plasticity and the power of changing our thoughts but that is impossible without stretching the heart from “we” to “I” and back to “we” after integrating or growing from the pain—every heroine's journey.That's the heart elasticity Heather Valentine shares.So, If you are on the brink of giving up on yourself, the uphill journey to personal peace or life in general listen to her story. SIA - I mean do I need to say more? Known for wearing crazy wigs and bows on her head, her vocals reach deep into our souls and give our minds a heart beat. In this episode of The Hollywood Dance Podcast, Tony Selznick invites Tessandra Chavez and Mark Meismer to speak about how teaching and education has changed in the commercial dance industry.                                                            Tessandra Chavez is an Emmy Award-winning choreographer, who has worked on shows such as So You Think You Can Dance, Dancing with the Stars, World of Dance, America’s Got Talent, and American Idol. In 2015 Chavez, along with Derek and Julianne Hough, won the Emmy for Outstanding Choreography for the season-finale routine on Dancing with the Stars to Sia’s “Elastic Heart.” Chavez has also worked with iconic band MUSE, Dancing with the Stars in China, Abby’s Ultimate Dance Competition, D-Trix’s Dance Showdown, Disney’s Dance Crew and the film Heartbeats directed by Duane Adler. Chavez is a world-renowned teacher – for six years she was head of Jazz dance at the Debbie Allen Dance Academy. Chavez continues to work with a new generation of dancers, and believes in making them both great people and performers. Mark Meismer has been dancing and teaching professionally for more than twenty years, and has worked with artists like Madonna, Britney Spears, Celine Dion, Ricky Martin, and Paula Abdul. On screen, Meismer has worked on Austin Powers 2 and 3, Starsky and Hutch and A Time For Dancing. Meismer has also worked on several TV shows, including Dancing With The Stars, Scrubs, Will and Grace, The MTV Video Music Awards, The American Music Awards and The VH1 Vogue Fashion Awards. Mark is also an original member of Mia Michaels’ NYC dance company RAW, and worked as Michaels’ assistant choreographer on Celine Dion’s A New Day in Las Vegas. As well as running his own dance company, Evolution, Meismer teaches master classes and workshops across the USA and internationally. Selznick, Hunt, Chavez and Meismer spend this episode discussing how teaching and education has changed in the commercial dance industry, and how today’s choreography requires a phenomenally high standard of dance from the performers in the pieces. It's recently come to my attention that a certain group of my friends didn't feel that they could play many of my recent podcasts in certain house party and mixed birthday situations because they've been too circuit-esque in the first hour or so. Moreover, I've wanted to make a pop podcast for a while now. Hence — Pop Muzik! — a 1-hour one-off 'cast for friends and family filled with radio edits and vocals… a podcast that gramma can listen to as well (if gramma's into Sia and Selena radio edits!) Perfect for the background of your next birthday soiree. Oh and that new deep house podcast is still on its way! I'm so excited about the bookings that I'm starting to line up for the spring and summer. I continue to feel so much love from the city of New Orleans, where I'll be headlining the Saturday night of their Pride weekend in June at the legendary Oz nightclub, along with Halloween night alongside the incomparably talented Joe Gauthreaux. And a dream come true -- this August I'll be playing the Crown & Anchor in Provincetown for the first time ever.... a place that's truly become my spiritual second home over the past 15 years.
