Do you read Sutter Cane? Really? Name three albums! Sorry? He's a fictional novelist who is in contact with the Elder Gods who wish to retake the Earth and subject us to their dark dominion? Someone should make a movie about that. They did?! It's called IN THE MOUTH OF MADNESS, and it's a stone-cold John Carpenter classic that we're covering this week with the help of TikTok's own Mandi Bossard! Along the way, we dig into the extremely Hollywood backstory of the script, explore what Sutter Cane's actual pathway to a Second Coming is, consider the astronomical cigarette budget for the movie, and dig into whether we're watching the movie or if we're watching the movie-within-the-movie! All this, plus Poison bassists, woman-written-by-man, spoil Backrooms hallways, H.P. Lovecraft roasts, ball-and-chains, and a very tentacle-filled edition of Choose Your Own Deathventure! Some science fiction and fantasy books have incredible titles. Others have titles that leave you wondering if the author lost a dare, a bet, or perhaps a small amount of their sanity. In this episode of Fantasy for the Ages, I'm handing out twenty completely unofficial, thoroughly unimportant, and highly prestigious awards to some of the strangest, funniest, most baffling book titles in SFF history. From John Dies at the End and Dungeon Crawler Carl to The Hollow Chocolate Bunnies of the Apocalypse and Space Raptor Butt Invasion, we're celebrating the wonderfully weird side of speculative fiction.Along the way, we'll determine which title sounds most like a threat, which one would most confuse a librarian, which one might accidentally summon an Elder God, and which one should probably never be recommended in polite company. Whether you've read these books or are just here for the laughs, this is a celebration of the creativity—and occasional madness—of SFF publishing. What are the weirdest, funniest, or most unforgettable science fiction and fantasy book titles you've ever encountered? Let me know in the comments!

Ja! (ojo, épica), no amig@s. Finalmente Travol se atreve con Call of the Elder Gods.

Donkey Kong Bananza. Pokémon Legends: Z-A. Kirby Air Riders. Pokopia. No hubo tráiler, no hubo imágenes y no hubo fecha nueva.

Join Tod and Congressional Candidate Claire as they discuss H.P. Lovecraft's "The Silver Key," first published in the January, 1929 issue of Weird Tales. Please note: while this story is largely fanciful, this is ultimately a horror podcast, and so it may not be suitable for all audiences. In particular, this discussiojn involves the horrors of growing old, the siren's song of nostalgia bordering on retromania, grotesque packaging, and the utter meaningless of life in a blind and uncaring cosmos. If this subject matter is likely to disturb or offend you, you may wish to skip this episode. You can catch Claire on CombatVetPaul's channel, live streamed (or recorded if it's after April 29, which is almost certainly is when you read this): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8z_si0s8YO8You can follow along with Tod's adventures with "The Lovecraft Conference" here: https://lovecraft-conference.podsothoth.clubHey, it's registration and travel planning time for NecronomiCON Providence! SUMMER CROSSOVER SPECTACULAR CONTINUES! Comic book annuals are a remnant of the newsstand distribution era, when Marvel and DC tried to get some extra-sized product on the rack for the summer. With the advent of the direct market, annuals lost a bit of their luster, so Marvel began using them as a vehicle for linewide crossovers. “Atlantis Attacks” from 1989 sprawled across 14 annuals, contriving a way for the Silver Surfer, the Punisher, and three non-consecutive Spider-Man annuals to somehow participate in the same story as the Avengers and Fantastic Four. While Atlantis does indeed attack the surface world (eventually), the main focus of this story is actually the Deviant villain Ghaur, seeking to bring Set the Elder God to Earth. We also take a snapshot of the Marvel Universe circa 1989, learn the history of the Serpent Crown (it involves, canonically and inextricably, Conan the Barbarian) and celebrate Namor the Sub-Mariner's 50th anniversary (largely by sidelining him from the story).Discussed in this episode: Silver Surfer Annual #2, Iron Man Annual #10, X-Men Annual #13, Amazing Spider-Man Annual #23, Punisher Annual #2, Spectacular Spider-Man Annual #9, Daredevil Annual #4 (...or is it #5?), Avengers Annual #18, New Mutants Annual #5, X-Factor Annual #4, Web of Spider-Man Annual #5, Avengers West Coast Annual #4, Thor Annual #14, Fantastic Four Annual #22, plus New Mutants #76 and selected material from Marvel Comics Presents #26 and Avengers West Coast #56.Support the show at patreon.com/ironageofcomics
