Artist Brenan Sharp tackles Pop Art and Fauvism with the whim of his brush, throwing in the occasional statement for good measure. He feels re-invention is the key to staying fresh, and tries to do so with every new show. Brenan's artistic pursuit has been described as a “delicate assault on popular culture” by the Nashville Scene, where he won Nashville's Best Local Visual Artist three times. After living in Chicago and being part of the art scene there, he has returned to Nashville where he is grateful to once again be showing his art.https://artbybrenan.com/https://www.instagram.com/artbybrenan/https://www.facebook.com/BrenanSharp/https://www.threads.net/@artbybrenan@thevillagerpeople.com (podcast)"Still on the Run" - https://www.fbrmusic.com/Host - Trey MitchellIG - treymitchellphotography IG - feeding_the_senses_unsensoredFB - facebook.com/profile.php?id=100074368084848Threads - www.threads.net/@treymitchellphotographySponsorship Information/Guest Suggestions  -  ftsunashville@gmail.com

Episode No. 648 features curator Dita Amory and artist Isabelle Frances McGuire. Along with Ann Dumas, Amory is the curator of "Vertigo of Color: Matisse, Derain and the Origins of Fauvism," which is at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston through May 27. The exhibition presents works Henri Matisse and André Derain made in Collioure, a fishing village in the south of France, in the summer of 1905. The work the two men made that summer was crucial to the development of fauvism, the first significant movement of twentieth-century art. The exhibition catalogue was published by the Met. Amazon and Bookshop offer it for $42-47. McGuire's work is on view at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago in "Descending the Staircase." The exhibition, which considers artists' approaches to the human body, was curated by Jadine Collingwood and Jack Schneider. It is on view through August 25. McGuire is a Chicago-based artist whose work considers the body and how our understanding of it can be filtered by video games, film, animatronics, and other technologies. This is their first inclusion in a museum exhibition; they will also be on view at Artist's Space, New York, next month.

Hello and welcome back this week we are talking all thing Faves and Fauvism with British artist Loïs Cordelia.  Fauvism  is a style of painting and an art movement that emerged in France at the beginning of the 20th century. It was the style of les Fauves (French for the wild beasts), a group of modern artists whose works emphasised painterly qualities and strong colour over the representational or realistic values retained by Impressionism. Traditional markets are trading relatively firm; we had a decent close on Friday with things unchanged on today's open. Crypto closed well going into the weekend but has sold off since along with $hitcoins, and it seems like the season is reaching a lull, but we likely haven't seen the end just yet. One of the major talking points has been the amount of Ethereum burned during all of the trading; It has been deflationary for a while now with all of this activity, and there are now concerns and speculation around the long term effects. We have the CPI number coming in this week. If the number misses then we could see a sell off, but if the number is lower than expectation it could be a less notable event. We are still in a tepid state with NFTs; some major sales have still happened with things like Azuki, and Cryptopunks are hanging out around 50 eth with Apes in the 47-48 range. There was a major headline going around where 14 apes were sold and immediately swapped for $PEPE, which is not doing well currently.@punk9059 talked about a difference from NFTs vs Stocks/bond trading, where the former plays into momentum and the trend of the moment. The strategy and practice may be similar but the foundation and influence are very different. Something like 80% of the loans that have gone out through BLEND have been recalled back already, take that as you will. If you are trading the $hitcoins, it's best to try and find something with a story at the very least. The action of these coins is rapid and unforgiving. Protect your funds and as always do not deploy capital that you cannot afford to lose. We were joined by @dannygreene & @meebstew to talk about everything @MeebitsNFTs. Turnon.meebits.app is the new site and has been one of the latest initiatives since they were assimilated into the Yuga ecosystem. The living PFP is the result of adding different expressions and emotes by animating the 3d characters. Giving life to the Meebs and making the animation accessible to users who aren't Blender experts is the mission.Today we announced our STUBS artist #7 @YAGAMIIIARTS to go over his singing in the rain piece that he is sharing with the GM Web3 listeners. He has done art for the past 10 years, and describes himself as "just an artist" and a late starter, although you might disagree looking at his beautiful work. The Rug Radio Membership Pass was one of his first mints ever, and now he is minting a piece for the Rug Radio audience. That is what we love to see and the type of story we hope to replicate. His style is NeoFauvism, which was also our code today for stubs and rewards. Fauvism was an early artistic movement that started in France and is attributed to the larger modern art category. Around the early 20th century people started experimenting by taking the realism out of the art and creating from their own views and perspectives with colors and livery. Fauvism sparked other movements like cubism and other really colorful styles; It broke the tendency of art to be naturalistic and represented in a true to life lens. Yagamii intends to combine modern contemporary art style with an appreciation for art history through his work. Yagami is also putting together a team to promote and contribute to the NeoFauvism style. It is set to be a curation in collaboration with Foundation that will highlight the style and the group of the artists that are creating using it!GM! Hosted on Acast. Matisse and Derain showed their work at the Salon de Automne in 1905, and at that salon, a critic Louis Vauxcelles was walking around looking at all the works when he saw a renaissance sculpture surrounded by the modern works of Matisse, Derain and their friends. Vaucelles was heard to remark “Donatello au milieu de fauves” meaning “Donatello among the wild beasts” Like the Impressionists, the fauvists took the term a critic used to insult their work and transformed it's meaning. They were considered to be wild because of their bold use of color. The fauvist style is a sort of extension of the post-impressionist movement further flattening the images, making things more abstract with bolder colors and more expressive, painterly styling. Often Matt's creations are critical of our virtual addictions, but moreover they are a return to what is needed in our humanity... something tangible and that will not make us have giant thumbs or craned necks. He is concerned with how it all affects our bodies, ecology, and what his creative brain can bring to the table. Matt's art is in the sketches and functional prototypes that he makes that are beautiful in design, but also in their function. He can't help but even imagine how to turn pandemic mask wearing into something that will benefit rather than intrude on nature. He imagines a mask that contains a plant that will feed off of the risky air we put out there. Matt shares his creative mind with us in this episode alongside his path of discovering a career that uses all of his skillsets as an industrial designer. Derain also designed the décor and costumes for the ballet. Ottorino Respighi wrote the music based on piano pieces by Gioachino Rossini. Its world premiere was at the Alhambra Theatre in London on 5 June 1919, performed by Sergei Diaghilev's Ballets Russes. La pentola magica, a glowing tribute to lesser-known Russian composers. Conor Tallon spoke to Michael Waldron about Spring being in the air!To mark Imbolc or St Brigid's Day, we're embracing a sense of joy and renewal with this WORK OF THE WEEK!The first day of February is the traditional beginning of spring in Ireland and finds us halfway between the winter solstice and spring equinox. Festival Scene (c.1960) by Sylvia Cooke-Collis may not specifically be about this new season, but we think its palette of soft bright colours and upbeat mood suits this time of year.Inspired by the style of Fauvism, Sylvia Cooke-Collis (1900-1973) composes a scene filled with people – and goats! Many of the figures wear wreaths of foliage on their heads, while in the background some form of ritual appears to play out under the trees. A figure in the foreground offers red flowers to a goat. A tasty treat perhaps? In 2018, Festival Scene underwent its own renewal and benefitted from much needed conservation. As part of a shared NGI-CAG-IMMA conservation internship, it was transported to the National Gallery of Ireland for treatment by Giulia Campagnari. The painting had become distorted over time and its paint layer was beginning to flake. Giulia conducted a full consolidation treatment with specialist solutions and equipment. Festival Scene was then re-stretched, cleaned, filled, and retouched where losses had occurred. Its original frame even got some love before the painting returned to Cork to be cherished once again. Certainly cause to celebrate! See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

It's 2018. It's Elne in Southern France, and the Mayor has just cut the ribbon on one of the the most worthless art collections since they closed the last Athena.   In what the Policeman from ‘Allo ‘Allo would have called “Zee dirty-tree epi-sod of the CB Wallop podcast Reneeeé” join Phil Jerrod and Phil Lucas as they discuss The Musee Etienne Terrus - the newly renovated French art museum, that was built to honour the great artist Etienne Terrus, then unwittingly filled with fake paintings.  Should you buy your art from a man in a brown mac calling himself Monsieur X ... no... no best not.  Trigger warning: This one's ART. So you know - painting, brushes, the quality of light ‘pon the water - that sort of thing. There is some gratuitous chat about Hitler - right from the start, and some very extreme French accents, for which, as always, we make no apology.   Written and Researched by Phil Lucas Edited by Phil Jerrod Music by Steve Adam The fake Etienne Terrus collection | Showcase TRT World https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bboYNiUOVT4&t=95s [No Copyright Music] Retro 80's Funky Jazz-Hop Instrumental (Copyright Free) Music - Sundance Remix Music Credit: SUNDANCE Track Name: "Perséphone - Retro Funky (SUNDANCE remix)" Music By: SUNDANCE @ https://soundcloud.com/sundancemusic The SUNDANCE Official Website is HERE - http://lefthandmusic.fr/ Follow SUNDANCE on BandCamp: https://sundancemusic.bandcamp.com/ License for commercial use: Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Unported (CC BY 3.0) https://creativecommons.org/licenses/... Peshi Haas is an established artist residing in Lawrence, New York. Since graduating from SVA in 2005, Peshi went on to have two solo shows in New York City. Her first show was an evening of success at Synagogue for the Arts, titled "Urban Synagogues." The second show was held at the Edmund J. Safra Synagogue and was titled "Architecture: Past and Present." Peshi has also been included in group shows and private galleries worldwide, in cities such as Brooklyn, New York, New Jersey, Miami, and Jerusalem. Peshi's subject matter consists of architecture from her travels around the globe. The composition that Peshi uses in her art is simple yet profound. Her color use is oft garish and her stroke is whimsical. She has been extremely influenced by Fauvism, German Expressionism, and Chagall's city-scapes over her painting career. While drawing and painting are vital to Peshi's growth as an artist, traveling to countries strong in architecture or walking the historical streets of New York are very crucial to the work she produces. The artist will, more often than not, travel with her camera and photograph on-site. Many times while traveling, she will create charcoal drawings on-site as well. Whether in California, Vienna, Prague, Monte Carlo, Rome, Tel Aviv or Miami, Peshi is always searching for perspective on a new winding road or a unique yet classic edifice that would appear most alluring to any art viewer. The artist constantly searches for new architecture in hopes of exploring it and expressing it via the medium of charcoal, eventually painting on canvas. She has become well known for her archway paintings of various ancient cities as the motif is a most calming subject matter for her to draw and paint. Peshi is an active member in various art groups and enjoys learning from other artists and historians. She remains in constant contact with her esteemed mentors who are well known artists of NYC and Europe. As Peshi paints in her Long Island studio, she combines her passion for architecture and, very often, her interest in Jewish history to create works of art that call out to a diverse art forum.    https://www.peshihaasfinearts.com/ Instagram: @PeshiHaasFineArts www.franciskamusic.com @franciskamusic

April Giblin experiments with portraiture by using colours to evoke emotion to tell a story. Her art style flirts and blurs the lines between Fauvism, Colour Field, Abstraction and Portraiture. Aprils’ work carries an underlying theme about reality and the human condition. In her recent work, April is exploring gender and sexuality by documenting people and their experiences in the 21st century. See more of April: http://houseconspiracy.org/april-giblin

The aim of this paper is to analyse the consequences of this change, in other words, the examination of the ways, the strategies, the semiotics and the social uses of the objects which conform the so-called camouflage for peace. Both World Wars in the 20th century testified the birth and evolution of military camouflage design and its main variants: Disruptive Pattern Material (hereinafter DPM), which aimed to make invisible land armies and army air corps, and Dazzle Painting, which was devoted to blur war ship shapes. This type of war design was probably inspired by pictorial innovations of artistic avant-gardes from the beginning of the 20th century, i.e. Cubism, Fauvism and Vorticism. Modernist painting provided military camouflage with a civic origin. DPM and Dazzle Painting attracted a wide audience imagination since they were invented and practised for the first time during the years of the Great War. There was a sudden transfer from war to peace scenarios, from military backgrounds to civil ones. The aim of this paper is to analyse the consequences of this change, in other words, the examination of the ways, the strategies, the semiotics and the social uses of the objects which conform the so-called camouflage for peace. In this manner, we will analyse recent examples (end of 20th and beginnings of 21st centuries) of DPM and Dazzle Painting applications to the following fields: fashion and textile design, interior design, industrial design, architecture and contemporary art. Such analytical revision will be done by exploring in what sense and to what extent the recontextualisation of this type of design entails its rethematisation.
