The event, part of the "Constituent Services in Your Community" initiative, aims to help people navigate federal bureaucracy and access benefits such as Social Security, Medicare, passports, visas, and VA and TRICARE benefits for servicemembers, veterans, and their families. Ossoff's team is dedicated to helping constituents overcome administrative hurdles and provide support in accessing the benefits they deserve. Similar events are scheduled in other locations across the state in November. STORY 2: Cherokee County Sport Shooting Range Building Burned Down in Fire A clay shooting range building near Waleska, Georgia, known as Garland Mountain Sporting Clays & Grill, was destroyed in an early morning fire. Firefighters responded to the scene at 4:17 a.m., but the building was already mostly destroyed when they arrived. The fire had also spread to nearby golf carts and ignited spot fires in the surrounding woods. Cherokee County firefighters, along with assistance from Pickens County Fire & Rescue and the Georgia Forestry, managed to extinguish the main fire by 6:34 a.m. No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation. The shooting range plans to rebuild and may establish a temporary structure for clay shooting in the meantime. STORY 3: Holly Springs Residents Invited to Weigh In On Proposed $62 Million Budget The Holly Springs City Council plans to hold a public hearing on November 6 to discuss the proposed budget for 2024, totaling $62.4 million. The budget includes funds for the Town Center and the Holly Springs Parkway widening project. Most of the budget increase is attributed to the Town Center Project, particularly the construction of a parking deck. The general fund budget is set at nearly $14 million, with a significant increase from the previous year. Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax funding, about $10 million, is allocated for the Holly Springs Parkway widening project. The budget also designates $15.3 million for the Town Center, with a portion transferred from Urban Redevelopment Agency funding. STORY 5: Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Office Gives Glimpse into Matthew Perry's Cause of Death Matthew Perry, the beloved actor best known for his role as Chandler Bing on the TV show "Friends," died of an apparent drowning at his Pacific Palisades home. A 911 call was made at 4:07 p.m. local time, treated as a water rescue. An autopsy has been completed, but the cause of death is "deferred" pending toxicology reports, and "other significant conditions" contributed to his death. Perry had reportedly engaged in physical activity, including playing pickleball on the morning of his death. His struggles with addiction were well-documented, but as of his last reported sobriety, the cause of death remains uncertain. Toxicology results are expected in the coming weeks. Authorities do not suspect foul play. Matthew Perry, who was 54 years old when he died on October 28, 2023, had a net worth estimated at $120 million at the time of his death. He faced numerous health issues due to his struggles with addiction, including pneumonia, an exploded colon, a coma, and multiple surgeries. However, his battle with addiction and his subsequent recovery led him to help others in their own journeys to sobriety. Commercial: THE MARKET - ELON – Cherokee Chamber STORY 7: Cherokee County and City Leaders Continue Work on I-575 and Sixes Road Interchange Plan Cherokee County, Holly Springs, and Woodstock are collaborating on an Interstate 575 and Sixes Road Interchange Area Plan to address land use and transportation improvements. Covering approximately 100 acres in the southeast quadrant of I-575 and Sixes Road, the plan will examine potential roadway and mobility enhancements. The area, with over 30 parcels, falls within the jurisdictions of Cherokee County, Woodstock, and Holly Springs. The goal is to develop this area as a regional center with employment opportunities and mitigate traffic congestion. An intergovernmental agreement, with Cherokee County responsible for 60% of the plan's cost and Holly Springs and Woodstock responsible for 20% each, has been approved to facilitate the project. The plan's implementation is expected to start in January 2024. STORY 8: 13-Year-Old From Cherokee County Reunited With Family The teenager who went missing in early October, Gladis Bautista Escobar, has been found and reunited with her parents. She had been reported missing from Cherokee County on October 7. Authorities, including the Canton Police Department and other agencies, collaborated on the investigation to locate her. Gladis had left a Creekview High School football game willingly with another student, and she posted to social media with a changed appearance during her absence. Sepsis in other words ‘life-threatening organ dysfunction' in response to infection is a leading cause of death worldwide and a global health priority recognised by the World Health Organisation. In Australia, for adults with sepsis admitted to the intensive care unit, the in-hospital mortality is estimated as 18–27%. Early recognition of sepsis, prompt administration of antibiotics and resuscitation with intravenous fluids for those with features of hypoperfusion or shock are the mainstays of initial treatment. Emergency departments often being the first point of contact for patients presenting with sepsis, are required to prioritise sepsis as a medical emergency. The “Sepsis Kills” program implemented across the nation aims to reduce unwarranted clinical practice variation in management of sepsis.   In a recent Australian based study conducted across four emergency departments in Western Sydney Local Health District, among 7533 patients with suspected infection, a reduction in risk of in-hospital mortality was observed for each 1000 mL increase in intravenous fluids administered in patients with septic shock or admitted to ICU. However, despite evidence showing mortality benefits, not all aspects of sepsis care have been given the needed attention. In the same setting, out of 4146 patients with sepsis, 45% of them did not receive intravenous fluids in the emergency departments within the first 24 hours. Younger patients with greater severity of illness and presented to smaller hospitals were more likely to receive fluids.    The unanswered questions regarding the facilitators and barriers influencing intravenous fluid administration in sepsis are being explored using qualitative methods. Several emergency physicians and nurses have provided insight into aspects that influence their ability to provide appropriate fluid resuscitation such as constantly overcrowded emergency departments with chronic staff shortages of skilled health professional, failure to recognise sepsis early, the complexity of the presentations and lack of resources. Awareness of these challenges among stakeholders is the need of the hour. Leaving no one behind and not disregarding the critical aspects of sepsis care are crucial. Recognition of these factors and sustainable interventions are necessary to improve clinical outcomes for patients.   For more head to our podcast page #CodaPodcast

Dr. Steve Gladis is an executive coach, author, speaker, and professor at George Mason University. He's published 26 books on leadership and thinks a lot about culture and the elements of a great leader. He's also a former faculty member at the University of Virginia, served as an FBI special agent, and was a decorated officer in the US Marine Corps. He has a company, Steve Gladis Leadership Partners, that donates a significant portion of corporate profits back to the community. Steve is a giver, somebody who really cares about society and humanity.     Steve had a number of amazing insights during our conversation. Some of them include: “The best partner I've ever had, and I've had her for over 50 years, is my wife” (6:15). “We all need our yin to our yang” (6:50). “I never send anything out unless someone else has looked at it” (7:00). “You should be looking for people not like you because they bring the other piece of the puzzle together” (9:10). “The key is to have a mechanism in place before you get in trouble, not when you get in trouble” (12:15). “The best gift that anybody could give anybody else would be get yourself an executive coach in the beginning who can help you work together in this partnership” (13:15). “I write every day” (22:00). “In a way, {dyslexia] is the best thing that ever happened to me… It's given me this creative workaround mentality… it's taught me how to be resilient” (26:10). “If you're always the smartest guy in the room, you're in the wrong room” (27:50). “Anything can be an opportunity” (31:30). “[The biggest mistakes leaders make] is not telling or showing people how much they care” (33:40). “Trust is at the center of all relationships” (34:00). “Head, heart, and hands is compassion… it's an active thing” (40:20). “You can tell when somebody really cares about you” (40:50). “If you like what you're doing, you're making a decent living at it, and you're having fun at it, why wouldn't you want to keep doing it?” (47:50). “Some of the most miserable people I know are some of the richest people I know” (48:00). “You can't hit a target you can't see” (51:15). “Until people know what they want, it's really hard to get them to where they want to go” (52:10). “Teams head towards entropy all the time” (54:40). “Nothing stays level, especially in the relationship world” (55:00). “Stuff happens. You have to be ready for that” (1:02:45). “Experiments fail.
