How do you build a thriving comedy circuit in the heart of Scotland? In this episode of The Comedians Paradise, we're joined by five-time Scottish Comedian of the Year finalist, Ross Leslie. As the founder of Good Egg Comedy, Ross has become a key figure in the Scottish "Central Belt" scene. Slushies, you could be forgiven this week for thinking you've tuned in to a different podcast. One about gardening, maybe? Or perhaps you've stumbled across a punctuation pod? But it's just your usual team ranging wherever the poems might take us. Today we're discussing poems by Annie Kantar. The first, “Wolf Peach,” has us pondering folklore, the toxicity of nightshades, and dreaming of our favorite shakshuka. We draw on Dagne's well of gardening knowledge. The second poem spurs our deep regard for an overlooked punctuation mark with charm and humor. How many ways can you appreciate an apostrophe, that little curve that lets us skip syllables? Lisa cracks open her copy of Edward Hirch's The Essential Poet's Glossary to share a definition. Kathy thinks PBQ readers are similarly language-obsessed and will appreciate the extent of our punctuation celebration. We end the episode with a cliffhanger. You'll have to keep listening to hear how it all plays out. Sam signs off with a recommendation of the latest from Ben Lerner, Transcription. Join us in offering a big PBQ welcome to our newest co-op, Reese Pfunder! Thanks, as always, for listening. At the table: Dagne Forrest, Tobi Kassim, Samantha Neugebauer, Reese Pfunder, Kathleen Volk Miller, Lisa Zerkle, Lillie Volpe (sound engineer) Author Bio: Annie Kantar is the author of Means to Be Lucky (Poets & Traitors Press), translator of the Book of Job (Koren), and of Leah Goldberg's collection of poems, With This Night (University of Texas Press), which was shortlisted for the ALTA Prize. Her work has appeared in journals such as The American Literary Review, Barrow Street, Bennington Review, Birmingham Poetry Review, Cincinnati Review, Forma, Gulf Coast, Literary Imagination, On the Seawall, Painted Bride Quarterly, Poetry Daily, Poetry International, Rattle, Smartish Pace, Tikkun and Verse Daily, and anthologized in Plume Anthology (Canisy Press), The Art of Poetry (Classical Academic Press), and elsewhere. WOLF PEACH Once deemed capable of turning people into monsters, the inside of the tomato is dark, no matter how vivid, how vitamin-rich. Darkness is everywhere and they say if I open my eyes to the shadow, I'll see reality as it is. Even war has its beauty, cruelty its place; learn to live with it, don't be fooled: the Peach that bursts in its own sugars, disappearing in cobblers and pies, could beget a tomato, and has made horrors of unsuspecting gardeners. Know its fat blank face, its bloodthirst, lest you end up like the Good Egg, conjurer of casseroles for funerals and bedsides, that storybook apple of everyone's eye. All the darkness in the world surrounds her sunny inside, but she loses every time. Still the peach is a peach, and the shakshuka shakshuka Mar. 2026, after Aharon Shabtai APOSTROPHE Shape of an ear in the corner of a word, a speck frequently misplaced; signal of elision, shortcut to what's been said or couldn't have been otherwise, a desire for cadence, synonym for address (don't forget where you're headed), receptacle for a voice, oracle, or friend; informal; a way of getting to the point; a getting-of-drift, destination; a means an end a hand's c'mon, teardrop, side eye; infinite yet contained, say, if God were part person or sea; the sea; syllable skipper, well-wisher, absent entity, substitute, metonymy for knowing, a wild guess, an exclamation implicit for is and its opposite. OLD STORY What was it, the word she loved, what she called the most important thing? Incapable of saying whether it continued through th- - - or ended in a lisping omission, her grandson my grandfather the doctor learned to nod: yes, of course, it's all that matters. She had soft hands, they walked beside it: sometimes it seems no more than a surface you could walk across, but then you step in and the water drops off, deeper than you imagined. . . Whether he was talking about the lake or her old world accent, I can't say; either way, you know how it goes—soon it was too late to admit he didn't understand. Their walks followed the entire circumference, whose center was that one inscrutable truth she'd put on repeat, blurred by an inaudible h or e (or was it an i)? He was a big boy, and by the time he had to go, as faith or fate would have it, he no longer needed to know.

Keith Paul of Good Egg Dining discusses the challenges and strategies of navigating the modern hospitality landscape, particularly in the Tulsa and Oklahoma City markets. Keith shares insights on the resilience of the restaurant industry, his philosophy of hands-on coaching and management, and the necessity of prioritizing human connection over "clunky" AI and automation in service. They also examine the economic pressures facing the industry, from minimum wage hikes in California to the rising Consumer Price Index (CPI), emphasizing that slow, intentional growth and a picky hiring process are key to long-term stability.Key Takeaways Industry Resilience: Despite revenue problems and national chaos, the restaurant industry remains one of the most resilient sectors. Coaching as Management: Keith's approach to leadership involves understanding the court (the business) and coaching people rather than just managing silos. Local Market Focus: Keith emphasizes the value of a deep local presence in Tulsa and Oklahoma City, managing multiple successful concepts within a specific neighborhood. Recruiting for "Smiles": Hiring should focus on innate hospitality traits—like a genuine smile and comfort with people—rather than just technical server skills. The AI Disconnect: Many current AI and robotic solutions in restaurants are still "clunky" and risk devaluing the human experience. Picky Growth: Success often comes from having no desire for rapid, uncontrolled expansion; instead, being picky about the team and locations ensures quality. Economic Pressures: External factors like the $20 minimum wage in California and general CPI increases are creating "scary" new realities for hospitality margins. Deep Customer Conversations: Moving beyond surface-level interactions to "deeper conversations" is essential for high-value enterprise wins. High-Fidelity Service: In an era of mobile apps and digital exposure, the fastest way to lose a customer is to neglect the "human" element of the mission

Send us a textWhy do eggs that look perfect on retrieval day sometimes lead to poor embryos, failed implantation, or no pregnancy at all? If your clinic once told you your eggs “look great,” only to later say the cycle failed due to an egg issue… you're not alone. And no, your doctor didn't lie to you.In this episode of Taco Bout Fertility Tuesday, Dr. Mark Amols unpacks one of the biggest misunderstandings in IVF: the difference between how an egg looks and how an egg functions.Drawing from real-world experiences and the new research review “Unveiling the Realms of Reproduction: A Reflection of Oocyte Assessment” by Gardner et al. , Dr. Amols breaks down:• Why egg morphology (appearance) is a terrible predictor of success • What embryologists can see… and what's completely invisible • Why the true egg issues only show up later — during fertilization, cleavage, and blastocyst development • The “cohort effect”: why some cycles are full of rock-star eggs and others feel like the B-team • Why a failed cycle doesn't mean your eggs are bad or that you did anything wrong • The future of egg assessment: AI scoring, time-lapse imaging, metabolomics, autofluorescence, and moreIf you've ever wondered how “good eggs go bad,” or felt frustrated when early optimism turned into confusion, this episode gives you the clarity, science, and reassurance you've been looking for.Share this with someone going through IVF, and leave a 5-star review if this helped you. Thanks for tuning in to another episode of 'Taco Bout Fertility Tuesday' with Dr. Mark Amols. In this episode of the Cash Rich Exit Podcast, Colleen O'Connell-Campbell welcomes Joanna Track, serial entrepreneur, strategist, and founder of Good Eggs & Co. Joanna has launched and exited multiple businesses - including Sweet Spot, eLuxe, and The Bullet - and now leads Good Eggs & Co., a consultancy focused on content and context marketing. Known for her candid, no-nonsense approach, Joanna shares what she's learned about building brands with staying power, navigating exits, and avoiding common pitfalls that entrepreneurs face. Key Highlights: Redefining success in an exit: why an exit doesn't always equal success, and how legacy plays a role. From Sweet Spot to The Bullet: Joanna's journey of launching and scaling digital-first businesses in Canada, often ahead of the curve. The capital gap for women entrepreneurs: reflections on raising millions in funding and the systemic challenges women still face. Don't build on rented land: Joanna's hard-won philosophy on creating assets you own (like email lists and websites) versus relying on platforms you don't control. Content with context: why brands need to serve before they sell, focus on the long game, and create authentic, relatable voices. Personal brand vs. business brand: why people buy from people, and how leaders can use thought leadership to strengthen both. Growth mindset: why Joanna shifted from saying she wanted to keep Good Eggs small, to embracing its rapid growth trajectory. Fun, frank advice: be yourself, be authentic, and test - because the biggest risk is never putting your ideas into the world. Whether you're scaling, selling, or starting fresh, Joanna's story offers lessons in resilience, ownership, and building a brand that thrives beyond you. That dozen is not just the number of D-III players currently known to have received an invite to an NFL training camp, for sure. How big of a breakfast does it take to feed an NFL offensive lineman? What did new-old Franklin coach Mike Leonard do when he was away from coaching the Grizzlies for the past five years? And why does Illinois College coach Ray DeFrisco keep coming back, year after year? Those are some of the key questions getting asked and answered on this edition of the D3football.com Around the Nation Podcast. Plus ... This edition of the podcast is sponsored by GameStrat: The Most Reliable & Fastest In-Game Video Replay System on The Market. D-III football coaches should click here to learn more. No, seriously, that's a lot of eggs. How did Middlebury offensive lineman Thomas Perry get to where he is today, a workout legend and an All-American who got invited to the Baltimore Ravens minicamp? He also talks about his experiences with Julian Young, a linebacker at Colby who will also be going to the Ravens, plus the workout that helped start him well down the road to where he is today. At Franklin, Mike Leonard wasn't expecting to get his old office back, and that space has some new decorations that we talk about. Hear what kind of camp Leonard will be attending this offseason. And at Illinois College, the days of putting up 96 points in a game might be over, with the standout quarterback and wide receiver and the offensive coordinator all moving on, but the philosophy remains. Hear about that and the new names you'll hear this fall and more from IC coach Ray DeFrisco. Plus we talk about the NESCAC finally getting its chance to play in the playoffs -- even if it isn't until 2026. Will that attract more talented student-athletes to NESCAC schools? That's a question in our mailbag segment, and we also talk about the likelihood of radios in football helmets at the D-III level. Patrick and Greg cover it all in the latest edition of the D3football.com Around the Nation podcast.

Send us a textIf you need to tackle the chaos in your home (with some accountability), join us for Decluttering with Body Doubling HERE.ADHD Cliff's Notes:We speak with Emily King, Founder and CEO of Faye, a company that matches busy families with advisors to help manage the mental load. Emily created Faye after becoming a mother and realizing how difficult it was to keep up with her family's personal to-do's, and how little support there was for parents. Faye fills a much-needed void: providing affordable help for busy families who do not have the means to hire full-time personal assistants but benefit from fractional help—it also creates part-time gig opportunities for women to monetize a skill set they typically don't get paid for. Emily breaks down the type of work a Faye assistant can do—imagine someone who can "think like you" and act on your behalf as project manager. Here's what's on the table: Staying on top of appointments, scheduling, booking travel, coordinating activities, organizing school emails, finding and coordinating professionals like housecleaners and handymen, saving money by cancelling subscriptions you don't use, shopping around for insurance, activities, providers, etc. While Faye can help with practical solutions, the mental health component is profound: the relief of knowing someone else is carrying the burden with you can be extremely emotional. "We have been set up to fail." Modern motherhood feels like an impossible math equation. We talk about the trap of moms being expected to work full-time and juggle full schedules while also being expected to manage the mental load. We discuss the added struggles of having ADHD in addition to being a parent in this busy, digital era, including decision fatigue and executive functioning challenges. The belief that we should be able to do all of this ourselves, despite the impossible standards, is what keeps so many moms from asking for help. Emily sees a shift that is a reason for hope: more and more women are willing to say that they deserve it, they don't question it, and they are willing to outsource this type of work. Make sure you are using your energy the right way—it matters!About Emily King:Emily King is the CEO and co-founder of Faye, a service designed to help parents get more done with the help of trusted family advisors. These advisors handle everyday tasks—like scheduling appointments and organizing family travel—so moms can breathe. As a working mother herself, Emily knows firsthand how impossible the juggle can feel. Her journey to launching Faye was fueled by her own experience navigating parenthood while excelling in demanding leadership roles—like serving as VP of Growth & Digital at Blue Bottle Coffee and more than a decade across consumer tech brands like Nextdoor, Good Eggs, and LivingSocial. Creating Wealth in Real Estate Investing[00:18:33] I wouldn't even know that this is possible unless I saw somebody else doing it, and for me it started when I was playing Monopoly as a kid…this is the life lesson. You start with land, you build houses, collect rent and then you go to hotels and you just keep getting there and it was fun. The first syndication I actually invested in was with you, Annie, in the hotels…so I got to play Monopoly in real life.[00:25:51] I want to make sure I'm making money every single month, a way to have value add, like forced appreciation…all these things are in my mind as I'm going through any specific deal—could be multifamily, could be a single-family home. [00:43:06] I need to serve people and move on. It's hard for me to really drive it home that this is literally the only way that I make money anymore. It's the only thing I want to do in any business, because I make other people's lives better and I make my life better from it too. The Bright Method Podcast: Realistic Time Management for Working Women
We've talked in previous episodes about outsourcing work at home in ep. 29 (including emotional and even "moral" hangups about doing so) and, specifically, about hiring a house manager in ep. 52 with Kelly Hubbell of Sage House. Today, we're continuing this conversation with another option to help outsource more of the mental load. Emily King is the co-founder and CEO of Faye, an AI-powered platform that makes it affordable to hire a local personal assistant to help with those day-to-day, mentally exhausting tasks. Let's dig into examples of what people outsource to Faye and how it works. I have no financial affiliation with and gain no benefit from sharing about Faye. I just think it's an interesting platform that might provide you with the relief you're looking for, so wanted to make you aware of it! A bit more about Emily: Prior to entrepreneur life, Emily was the VP of Digital & Product at Blue Bottle Coffee, where she oversaw digital marketing, e-comm, and mobile, as well as physical product development: cafe drinks/culinary, merchandise, and all CPG. Prior to Blue Bottle, she led revenue operations and direct sales at Nextdoor; merchandising at Good Eggs; and e-comm and home services at LivingSocial. Emily started her career as a writer and editor at National Geographic, before discovering the exciting, fast-paced world of consumer tech. She currently lives in Ogden, UT, with her husband Patten and their 6-year-old daughter, Vivian. Learn more at https://www.findfaye.com/, and follow along on Instagram at @tryfaye.
