Send us a text On this episode, we go back to the NFL, where one of the biggest stories off the field is Jon Gruden's ongoing lawsuit against the NFL and Roger Goodell, where he alleges that the NFL and Goodell “engaged in a malicious and orchestrated campaign to destroy the career and reputation of Jon Gruden.” To break down the big new developments in the case and what might happen next (and the reaction from within the league), I'm joined by Jon Gruden's lawyer, Adam Hosmer-Henner, and Don Van Natta, the investigative reporter for ESPN who has been covering and uncovering this case since day 1. Thank you for listening! For the latest in sports law news and analysis, you can follow Gabe Feldman on twitter @sportslawguy .
Recorded: February 9, 2024 | On this episode of Best of the Bus, the boys sat down with the leader at ESPN — the man who put the entire network on his back — Stephen A. Smith. Stephen chopped it up with the boys about his start in broadcasting and how he grew comfortable critiquing professional players. He shared insight into his relationships with athletes and the challenges those have brought over the years. Stephen A also explained why he knows he’ll remain number one at ESPN, even with the addition of The Pat McAfee Show. It was an episode full of great conversation, unique perspective, and a real look into the life of Stephen A. Smith. Enjoy, fellas.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Andy and Brendan! went LIVE on YouTube for this Friday episode to kick off the post-Ryder Cup weekend. We've received word that the "Lotte at Lottie's" challenge is off to a roaring start, with two listeners finding each other at the bar on Wednesday watching tape delayed coverage of an LPGA event from across the world. As you could probably guess, most of this episode focuses on the continued fallout from the Ryder Cup crowd fiasco and Don Rea's various responses. Andy and Brendan dig into the Don's LinkedIn post responding to criticism, something he's experienced since his days as a Minor League Baseball umpire. "New level, new devil" has now become a staple in the podcast's vocabulary as well. Andy got duped by a photoshop of Rea's potential resignation being discussed on ESPN's "First Take," but Brendan can't imagine a golf world without Don moving forward. Elsewhere in the crowd discourse, PGA of America CEO Derek Sprague spoke to The Athletic about "not hearing" what happened from his luxury box on Saturday. Matt Fitzpatrick and Tyrrell Hatton spoke out prior to the Dunhill, unsatisfied with Don's trophy presentation and ensuing apology. In non-crowd Ryder Cup cleanup, Furyk & Friends has become a bevy of content! AssCap Jim Furyk was unhappy about the green speeds being off at Bethpage and wonders if that was to blame for Team USA's poor putting performance. Stewart Cink also revealed that he interviewed for the 2025 captaincy, only to get ghosted by "special agent" John Wood afterward. Moving on from the Ryder Cup, LIV has reported its financial losses and the numbers have Andy and Brendan wondering where the league goes from here. Things wrap with Golf Advice, including Andy's passionate defense of poker chip ball markers.
Over his illustrious career, he's worked for the Dallas Morning News, Newsday, Sports Illustrated and ESPN and others. Maisel is also the author of "American Coach: The Triumph and Tragedy of Notre Dame Legend Frank Leahy," which was released on Sept. 16.The book explores the often forgotten legacy of Leahy, who led the Fighting Irish to six undefeated seasons and four national championships in an 11-season span.Still, he lacks the recognition of the Notre Dame championship-winning coaches who came before and after him, like Knute Rockne and Ara Parseghian. The conversation spent a great deal of our time exploring Leahy's life and career. The podcast also delves into what it took to conduct research for the book, the access Notre Dame provided, and how that process has changed his perception of Notre Dame. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. See pcm.adswizz.com for information about our collection and use of personal data for advertising.
Time for Sports Graffiti! Mason and Andy are joined by a Special Guest, President of the LA Kings, Luc Robitaille! The LA Kings drop the puck on Tuesday for the start of the regular season! #craftbeer #disneyplus #jimmykimmel After putting Jimmy Kimmel on ice, viewers put their money where their morals were, unsubscribing en masse from Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN streaming platforms. It turns out, these soulless conglomerations of content can be swayed by public pressure (read: losing millions in a single day) and have swiftly brough back Kimmel's late night show like nothing ever happened. Speaking of the trifecta of Disney properties, ESPN has embarked on their maiden voyage with the WWE --- unfortunately, the show itself left fans feeling "meh."
