The statistical probability that you'll love Netflix's new rom-com, Love at First Sight, is off the charts! Based on Jennifer E. Smith's 2011 novel, The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight, directed by Vanessa Caswill and adapted for the screen by Katie Lovejoy, Love at First Sight tells the story of Hadley and Oliver, a couple who fall in love on their flight to London, but lose each other at customs. Surrounded by chaos, the odds of them finding each other again are slim to none...that is, until fate intervenes. Love At First Sight is a return to romcoms at their finest…amazing chemistry between Haley Lu Richardson and Ben Hardy + instantly iconic scenes + an incredible screenplay + a killer soundtrack = romcom gold! I'm not a snob when to comes to romantic tropes. I don't discriminate: the more outlandish the better, and I love them all. Every beat might be as familiar as the back of my hand, but my attitude is: bring it on again. It's even better when there are little refreshing updates to beloved romcom plots, like in the new Netflix movie Love at First Sight. This unimaginative title promises the most smarmy movie experience ever, but it turns out to be a tender, warmhearted, romantic story about different kinds of love, fate, and the bravery it takes to embrace it all. (I tried to make this episode spoiler-free, but if you're good at picking up clues, you might want to watch the movie first).https://www.confessionsofaclosetromantic.comFor once a really good trailer that communicates the fun and irresistible romance of this movie but doesn't hint at the emotional plot points at the center of the story. Gold stars all around. And for those who appreciate a really good spoiler synopsis (whoops, Oliver didn't miss his flight, Hadley joined him on his —insert googly heart eyes here in place of my brain). The script is co-written by Jennifer E. Smith, based on her YA romance The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight. The entire cast is delightful.I certainly don't agree with all opinions in this movie review, but one thing I do agree with: Haley Lu Richardson needs to star in more romcoms."Do people really meet and in moments simply know they're meant to be? New evidence suggests: Yes, they do." In which the Monsters join me in reviewing LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT (2023) currently streaming on Netflix. With a screenplay by Katie Lovejoy, based off the novel, "The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight" by Jennifer E. Smith, this film is directed by Vanessa Caswill. The film follows the story of Hadley (Haley Lu Richardson) and Oliver (Ben Hardy), who meet after she's missed her initial flight to London to go and attend her Dad's second wedding to a woman she's never met. They strike up conversation over phone chargers and then move onto getting dinner together at the airport lounge. By some stroke of fate, they wind up sitting together on the plane and by the time it's taken them to arrive at Heathrow, they've started to develop strong feelings. Is it love at first sight? Watch the film and find out. The film clocks in at 1 h 30 m and is rated PG-13. Please note there are SPOILERS in this review. But we hope you like it at least a little because today we're doing trains! For this steam-powered episode, we read "Field Notes on Love" by Jennifer E. Smith, and "Blowing Off Steam" by Joy Lynn Fielding. We're back with another episode with Jaime and Erin, our favorite twinnies from Fiction Fare. Have a listen and leave us comment to let us know which books made your list! Podcast Notes We talk about our favorite Fall Reads. We point out that Jaime never follows the rules always reads books way ahead of time. We laugh about the fact that Meg is the only one who has read a particular fantasy series. Because dragons. We are (not really) shocked by one of the books on Erin's Fall List. We lament about the lack of resolution we get when reading all of Jennifer E. Smith's books. There might be a mention of a secret word. We list our most anticipated Winter 2016 reads. We give you one of our #bookgoals. Be sure you're following us on Twitter: Swoony Boys Podcast Fiction Fare And on Instagram: Swoony Boys Podcast Fiction Fare Thanks for listening, everyone! Let us know what you think!
