Just one of those lulls. Rory tells Lorelai about her debate competition this week. Lane calls Rory at the diner. Naturally, Lane can see the diner with a telescope from her room where she is stuck cuz she's grounded. They head home to watch some random British baking show called Two Fat Ladies, but they're interrupted by Paris who showed up because she thinks Rory needs more practice on the debate competition. Lorelai gets a call from Christopher. Turns out he's close by and she invites him to come to the debate competition. He says he'll be there. The next day, Rory walks by a payphone and naturally Lane calls it and asks her to pick up a new single for her. Lane is not well. It's debate time! The topic is a light one - doctor assisted suicide. They do a coin flip to decide who is pro or con. Paris picks pro. Christopher shows up….with another woman! Chilton wins. Afterwards, Lorelai and Sookie go to meet Christopher's girlfriend, Sherry. Lorelai and Rory come up with a game plan on how to handle this unexpected visit and they invite them home. Before they leave, Paris asks Rory to hang out and celebrate but she can't, which really upsets Paris if you can believe it. Sherry pulls Lorelai aside and is like you don't have to get to know me. Just because we've both had a relationship with Christopher doesn't mean we have to be friends. But she really wants to get to know Rory and asks if they can hang out tonight even though it's Friday night dinner. Lorelai is like uhhh sure. Lorelai talks to Rory and Rory says she's fine hanging out with Sherry. Lorelai asks if Christopher wants to come to dinner and he's like it's good grub, why not. They get to dinner, and when Emily hears that Rory is just having this night with Sherry, she's not thrilled and starts to interrogate Christopher about this Sherry. Then Rory bursts out that she doesn't think Emily should miss Friday night dinners unless she's sick and storms out. Lorelai goes after her and Emily says it should've been you! When Christopher finally got his life together, he should've been with you! To make matters worse, Emily blames Lorelai for everything. She says she's gonna go lay down. The next morning, Lorelai and Rory meet up at Luke's. Lorelai begs Rory for all the Sherry deets. And she gives her ALLLLL the deets including how Sherry wants kids. Lorelai asks Rory if she ever hoped that she and Christopher would get together. Rory says sure I've pictured you being with dad but I've also pictured you being with Pee-wee Herman and living in his playhouse. Before they can get back to the serious convo, Rory has to run out to watch and make sure the plan to get Lane her CD works, including Kirk stopping Mrs. Kim to talk and Michel jogging by and dropping the CD in the bag. Back at Luke's, Sherry and Christopher come by to say goodbye. Sherry leaves to say goodbye to Rory and Christopher apologizes to Lorelai for last night. Lorelai says I realized something last night - all these years, I always had you in the back of my mind. The prospect of us being together. I think I subconsciously sabotaged every relationship I've ever been in because I knew you were always there. Now that I know you're not, I can move on. Believe it or not, Christopher doesn't handle that well. He says don't put that on me. You're dumping 15 years of being unhappy on me. Don't blame me. Ohio State's quarterback competition is real, as is Austin Siereveld's surge on the offensive line.Those two things were made clear by Ryan Day on Tuesday, when he revealed that Lincoln Kienholz led Ohio State's quarterback competition entering the spring game – until Julian Sayin evened it up with his spring game performance – and that Siereveld has already earned a starting job this offseason even though Day doesn't know where he'll line up on Ohio State's offensive line yet.Day's press conference Tuesday also included excitement for the Buckeyes' recent transfer addition of North Carolina transfer defensive end Beau Atkinson, who we view as a high-quality addition that gives Ohio State the ability to deploy a deep rotation on the edge and get creative with its pass rush personnel this season.Ohio State's defensive tackle depth is a much bigger question mark, and that concern was only exacerbated by Day's acknowledgement of the reality that the Buckeyes' options to upgrade that position through the transfer portal are dwindling – though there is still one available defensive tackle, Oklahoma State's Justin Kirkland, who would be exactly what the Buckeyes need at nose tackle.Regardless of how that plays out, though, there are many reasons to feel good about the state of Day's program after the Buckeyes retained their entire scholarship roster during the spring transfer window and had 14 players selected in the 2025 NFL draft.We talked about all of those topics on the newest episode of Real Pod Wednesdays. Barbara is newly retired and really into keeping the house clean. She decides to join a Christmas committee. The meeting is supposed to start at 9:00 AM, but when she arrives, no one is there. Ten minutes later, the group leader, Cath, shows up and says, “Oh yeah, it's a flexible 9.” The rest of the committee arrives, and they're quite the characters. Barbara is clearly annoyed by this fly-by-night committee. When the opportunity arises for her to head up the committee budget, she jumps at it, but she's shocked to discover that Cath has just been keeping the receipts in a literal shoebox.We meet Barbara's son, Shane. She thinks he is lonely, so she wants to find him a date for the holidays using an app called Holiday Matchmaker, which she signs him up for without his approval. Then we meet Cath's daughter, Lauren, and wouldn't you know it, her mom also signed her up for the same dating app. They end up getting paired together.Lauren and Shane meet for coffee, but it doesn't start well. Shane overhears Lauren talking to a friend, complaining about going on a blind date her mother set her up for. However, they end up hitting it off while discussing their mothers. Shane tells Lauren he plans to sell his theater business, but he's feeling super stressed. To keep their mothers off their backs, they agree to pretend to date for the holidays.Unfortunately, both moms want to meet their children's special someone. They decide to meet at a Christmas festival, and they're both clearly disappointed that their kids ended up together. They conclude that the only logical thing to do is sabotage the relationship. So Barbara and Cath quickly devise a plan to break them up. After learning that Shane isn't very handy, Cath has an idea: invite him to help pick out a Christmas tree with her and Lauren, forcing Shane to figure out how to get the tree on the car himself. However, the plan backfires when Shane and Lauren end up failing together. When they finally get the tree home, they discover there's a rat inside. Shane is terrified of the rat, but Cath asks him to get it out, which he does, impressing Lauren. Plan failed.Next, Barbara comes up with another idea: invite Lauren to one of Shane's shows. She hopes Shane will get upset if he thinks Lauren is pushing for the relationship to work. Plus, Lauren has bad stage fright, so when Shane invites her on stage for a quirky improv Christmas Carol, Barbara is excited. To her surprise, Lauren ends up having fun and is really impressed with the show.When their plans don't work, Barbara climbs through a window to convince the volunteer playing Santa to come out after he locks himself in a room because he's scared. Cath and Barbara work together to encourage him to get out there.They realize they make a pretty good team and need to work together to break up these two lovebirds. They decide to start hanging out, acting like they love each other, and really push this “big happy family” narrative in hopes of freaking Shane and Lauren out. However, they notice that Shane and Lauren might actually be good for each other—Lauren encourages Shane to go all in on theater, and he helps her step out of her comfort zone.While on a trolley, singing Christmas carols, Shane and Lauren both admit they're actually falling for each other and agree to go to the Christmas Ball together.Barbara finds out that the relationship is fake but assumes it's one-sided to get her off Shane's back. She tells Cath, who gets really mad and advises Lauren to break things off with Shane because he's a bad guy.At the ball, everything comes to a head when Barbara and Cath confront Lauren and Shane about the fake relationship. Lauren freaks out and ends things with Shane due to all the drama. Barbara and Cath start arguing at the ball, and Barbara quits the committee.Barbara's husband, who hates being around her during this turmoil, encourages her to fix things with Cath. They make up and decide to work together to get Shane and Lauren back together. Cath shows up at Lauren's workplace to apologize for meddling, and Barbara does the same with Shane. Lauren and Shane decide to give their relationship another chance, and they kiss! The families then spend Christmas together, which seems a bit fast. They kiss some more and sing songs.

Jason and Frank are back with another fresh episode of The DFO Rundown. The guys kicked off today's show with a little bit of talk about Halloween including how they handle giving out candy at their house. They then got into some talk about a pair of teams who are continuing their hot streaks to start the year: the Calgary Flames and the Minnesota Wild.Frank admitted that he should have been higher on the Wild and listed the reasons why they will be a playoff team this season. Gregor talked about how impressive it's been that they've remained competitive even with their dead cap issues.As for the Flames, they're proving that they won't be a bottom-feeder. Frank says that they were never capable of truly bottoming out. The guys also talked about one of the best stories of the season in Justin Kirkland, or as Flames fans are calling him “Kirkland Signature”.From there, they talked about Cale Makar's start to the season and how big the gap is between the Avs defenseman and the rest of the NHL. They then talked about the Leafs' start to the year, their improved blueline, and what they're going to do with their goaltending situation.That led to Gregor's take on the Montreal Canadiens blueline. He thinks the Habs made a mistake coming into the season with as young and small of a defence as they have, he also thinks that they're playing Lane Hutson far too much. Frank disagreed with the Hutson take and explained why the hate he's been getting is very unjustified.Tyler then swung by for a fresh edition of Fill in the Blank, presented by Bet365.
