2023 marks the 100th Anniversary of the Walt Disney Company, and part of that celebration is a touring exhibit that displays many items from the archives that made its way to Chicago this month. It's housed at the 35,000 square foot Exhibition Hub Art Center that will open to the public on Saturday, November 18th - also a special date as it marks the first appearance of Mickey Mouse in Steamboat Willie, back in 1928. Dr. David Beer, professor of political science at Malone University, gave an overview of the first day, which featured such players as Bill Taylor, Jim Jordan, among others. He also touched on Deval Patrick entering the race on the Democratic side. 6:51 - What about the legal implications of impeachment? Dean Carro, president of the Akron Bar Association, joined the program to discuss those ramifications and what it means to the political and legal structure. 14:49 - Let’s go back in time to the second-to-last time a president faced impeachment hearings. Former CEO of Oracle, MARK HURD loved tennis. In High School, Hurd battled it out with top-ten pros on the public courts in Miami Beach. In college, he played #1 at Baylor University. And while Chief Executive at Oracle, he helped forge one of the most significant relationships in the history of tennis between a corporation and the sport.  We interviewed Mark this year at The BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells, but we had some technical difficulties and the interview was cut short so we tabled it, hoping to get a better, more thorough one, down the road. Unfortunately, we never got that chance. Mark passed away last week at the age of 62. The Ray Horner Show and WAKR (1590 AM, 93.5 FM) pay tribute to those who not only fought on the beaches of Normandy, but also anyone who has served in the armed forces. This week, Team Mousetalgia offers some Expo prep as we welcome Kevin Kern from the Walt Disney Archives to the show to discuss the Archives exhibit at this year's D23 Expo, and what you can expect to see at the exhibit. Kern also talks about his role at the archives, as well as his work helping to develop the presentations to occur on the Archives stage at the D23 Expo. Next, we welcome author and historian J.B. Kaufman back to the show to talk about Walt Disney Records/Fairfax Classics' latest project, "The Silly Symphony Collection," an 8-hour-long collection of soundtracks from all 75 Silly Symphony shorts presented on 16 vinyl LPs. Kaufman gives us some insight into the original cartoons that Walt Disney produced from 1929-'39, and explains the importance of this period of work from Walt and his animation studio. The set will be available for preorder beginning at the D23 Expo, and there will be a live concert performance of some of the works offered at the Expo as well.
