Not only did I have the honor of competing against Rachel Morrision Casias at Masters Worlds 2022, but I also had the pleasure of having her as a guest on my podcast. We could have talked for hours. She is so down to earth and absolutely hilarious!! Rachel is a second degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt and, along with her husband Ray Casias, owner of Tennessee Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. She is currently ranked #1 Master 3 Female Black Belt by IBJJF, and is a multiple-time Masters Worlds and Pan Ams Champ. Of course we talked a lot about jiu-jitsu, but Rachel also opened up about her diagnosis of Young-Onset Alzeheimers, which she received two years ago at the age of 41. In this episode, Rachel talks about how her life has changed, what she does to stay healthy, and what her future looks like – all with the most amazing and positive mindset. This episode is a must listen! To follow Rachel and her journey find her on FB @RachelMorrisonCasias and to learn how to train with her visit the school's website at www.tbjja.com.

Jordan Rabé trains at Autore Jiu-Jitsu and received his purple belt from André Galvão before moving to Los Angles. Jordan recently took third place at Masters Worlds in the Flyweight division. Jordan started wrestling in high school because he saw it was the best thing to translate into MMA. After high school, Jordan would go to college and wrestle for a short time before finding BJJ. As a white belt, Jordan admits that he had the typical wrestling midset of 110% in practice. After a couple of months of training, Jordan competed in his first competition has been steadily competing ever since. When Jordan first started competing, he admits he would try to find any reason not to compete. He would get into his head and cast a shadow over his potential. After years of working on his mental health through yoga, marijuana, and being more spiritual, he became more confident in his abilities. Jordan is a very relaxed and down-to-earth person, but you couldn't tell if all you saw was his highlight reels on social media. The explosiveness he gained from wrestling is visible in how he moves, attacks, and counters his opponents. Jordan gives excellent advice on competing, cutting weight, if you should or should not cut weight, mindset, perspective on his role as a purple belt, and much more. Jordan's whole persona drives home his advice to white belts of "have fun." If you aren't having fun, then why do the gentle art? For episode 31, Michelle and Nadya are joined by none other than Sa'idah Durkee aka The Ginja Ninja herself. Sa'idah is a highly accomplished purple belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu who has won Pans in both Gi and No Gi, a Masters Worlds, as well as a bronze in a Worlds Gi and a silver at a Worlds No Gi. Life has taken Ginja Ninja on a wild ride, from New Mexico to growing up in Egypt where she did high level gymnastics and later transitioned to Taekwondo. Upon the family's return to the US, Sa'idah unfortunately had to give up martial arts because she could not find a school that took the sport seriously enough. After graduating college, Sa'idah was dealt another heavy hand: a diagnosis of Rheumatoid Arthritis which incapacitated her for quiet sometime, making even the most mundane tasks painful let alone competitive athletics....until she found Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. It was the first sport In a long time that did not cause her immense physical pain and truly fulfilled her competitive soul. Krash is about to go on a two week hiatus up to Quincy, California for the High Sierra Music Festival, so we thought we would sqeak one more podcast in before he leaves. While not as wild as last weeks episode, there was plenty of beer flowing and a bunch of giggles again. We talked on a few different disc golf subjects including the Masters Worlds where our man Kenny Lee is trying to defend his title. The Masters Worlds is at Smuggler's Notch in Vermont this year, and it is such a gorgeous venue. Also on were a couple guests, Mark joined once again, as did Johnny 5x in part 2, and we had a new guest on, our good friend and next door neighbor Michael Wallace aka Wallifer aka Wally. It was a fun conversation that touched on disc golf but also had a lot of goofy moments that weren't exactly planned. Check out the shenanigans in the shop with Krash, DC and Double A. Stay tuned for part 2, coming soon. Check out our websites OTBdiscs.com and Windjammers.club
It’s time to look back at the Ledgestone Insurance Open on this week’s episode of PDGA Radio.
