The year was 1985, Freddy Mercury was bringing down the house at Wembley, Rocky Balboa won the Cold War by defeating Ivan Drago, and the Nintendo Entertainment System was release in the United States. It took the country by storm on the overall clad back of an Italian plumber named Mario. Nintendo ruled the home video game market until 1989 when a new player joined the game. The Sega Genesis' step onto the scene wasn't a home run right away. Sega decided to bring in a legend of the toy industry, a man named Tom Kalinske. This guy had his hands all over your childhood (not in the bad way) . Flintstone Vitamins? He created them. Barbie? He's the reason she's around today. Matchbox Cars? Who amongst us hasn't smashed one with a hammer when they no longer rolled properly. Tom and his team decided the only way to fight Nintendo's death grip on the market was to appeal to an older more mature and rebellious audience, teenagers. Sega became MTV to Nintendo's Disney Channel. Their battle took place in the stores, at the conventions, and on your TV. It had everything, corporate sabotage, defection to the competition, Joey Lawrence, Japanese rent-by-the-hour hotels, and a Hedgehog with attitude who's still doing his thing today. Valuable Antique Detector - Find Values for Your Collectibles
Over the last few years, the matchbox has been the most popular collectible die-cast car. But this wasn't always the case though. Now that matchbox is resurfacing again; collectors are delighted to see this trend continue. This trend started with the Matchbox cars from Lesney, and they are returning to take over again. Some of them, especially if you enjoy restorations, are still very affordable – similar to Hot Wheels. Others, however, like any collecting hobby, go beyond the standard. Besides, because of the large number of matchbox cars available, it is hard to find the right one with a better worth. But do not worry because we are here to help. This article will reveal the 11 most valuable Matchbox cars worth a fortune. (11-05-2020) - For most of us, our first cars came in a box, or bubble wrap in the form of Matchbox, Corgi, Tootsietoy or Hot Wheels. Jim Gallegos has over 200,000 toy vehicles that he actually built a cottage for all of them in his backyard! How big of a Matchbox guy is Jim? Mattel actually turned his personal cars into MATCHBOX CARS! (which were available at Target!). TALKING ABOUT CARS WITH RANDY KERDOON is owned by Kerdoon and his TOO TIRED GUYS PRODUCTIONS. all rights reserved. Check out the video version on our "Too Tired Guys/Talking About Cars" Youtube page.
In this episode of Memory Jogger, Jason and Wyatt use the randomizer to choose from a group of topics and see how much they can remember (without any prior show notes.) After sharing their experiences, they can then cheat if necessary by using the Google machine to find anything they might have missed from their memories. The topic chosen by the randomizer during this episode is Matchbox Cars! First, the duo come up with early memories of collecting toy cars. Then, they talk about the different types of cars, playsets, and where they played with them. The conversation turns to how are parents afforded some of our more expensive toys and then "losing" toys during movies and donating to needy families. Did we jog any memories or experiences with Hot Wheel, Match box or Micro Machine cars that you have collected over the years? Tell us your jogged memories either by commenting to our show notes on Rediscoverthe80s.com, tweet us @RD80s and @infamouswb or better yet Leave us a VOICEMAIL and we'll respond to it on our next episode → https://telb.ee/rd80s

If you missed it is episode 5 and you can find it here https://youtu.be/G3w91fDCE7Y In this video I am going to continue with the history of Tesla Inc. and review the Tesla Semi models made by Matchbox. Founded in July 2003 as Tesla Motors, the company's name is a tribute to inventor and electrical engineer Nikola Tesla. Elon Musk, who contributed most of the funding in the early days, has served as CEO since 2008. According to Musk, the purpose of Tesla is to help expedite the move to sustainable transport and energy obtained through electric vehicles and solar power. I assume most of you are familiar with the Tesla cars, having seen one on the road or on YouTube. However, we have only seen the Tesla Semi in pictures and on YouTube. Maybe if you live in the Fremont California area you might have caught a glimpse of the red Tesla Semi running down the road with a flatbed loaded with concrete blocks. However, this unit is only for real world testing and not in commercial transport at the time of this video. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/logan-skeele/message

The Matchbox and Hotwheels cases continue to reveal, among many treasures, some awesome superhero cars (and cars based on other “good ole” famous franchises) from Corgi Juniors! These finds, of course, lead to a lot of Superhero talk and an “Index Card” game for Tom and Julee to guess each other’s favorite superhero. Julee and Tom inevitably get a bit slap-happy (by the time they VROOOM to end of the car journey) when they unearth a bunch of “dink” plastic and wooden cars that SHOULD be easy “biffs” -- unfortunately the cars start to coalesce into a collection of some significance forcing a battle for the pressure to Keep! Oh yeah: and they find a GoBot!!! Now in their forties, Julee and Tom Antonellis are reconnecting as brother and sister in THE MOST distant a socially-distant podcast can be in the United States. While recording on each coast (and seeing each other over FaceTime) all the way from Los Angeles (Tom) to Boston (Julee), they start unearthing the core lessons, laughs and connections of their childhood. Plus, Julee has to fight her fear of cobwebs while Tom enjoys the comfort of his office -- yet he CAN'T touch his beloved toys like she can. As their Instagram bio indicates -- @backthroughthebasementpod -- you can follow them there to see pictures of everything they unearth -- Tom & Julee (actors, comics, voiceover artists & siblings), children of the 80s, must go through all their toys and belongings in their parents’ basement. Tom and Julee start off getting excited about potential future Playdates, sharing memories of community pools and Water Country before they crack into a surprise gift!! Thank you, Secret Santa! Don’t worry they DO get to old toys when they go Back Through “Door Number 1”. Harkening back to the Game Show which concluded in an arc of episodes from Season 2, “Door Number 1” was comprised of boxes and one of them contained cases of Tom and Julee’s vintage Matchbox and Hotwheels cars! Wow did those cases yield wonderful treasures!! “Buckle up” and enjoy the “ride”! Hobbies come in all shapes and sizes. My guest today, Dave Espino, just so happens to restore vintage matchbox cars. Since this is something I didn't even know was a thing, I just had to talk to him about it. I think that sometimes in business we forget to just have a little fun in life and unplug from the work that we're doing. I also believe this is crucial to our mental health. Finding a hobby that we are passionate about and taking time to just disconnect and relax is so important. Listen along as Dave describes his hobby and I hope you will find it as fascinating as I did.
