Spider-man-less Movies No More This week on the podcast, Brian and Darryl are reviewing the penultimate episode of Dune: Prophecy, and the 2024 films Trap, Carry-On, Kraven The Hunter. Episode Index Intro: 0:07 Dunc Prophecy: 5:30 Trap: 17:56 Carry-On: 29:07 Kraven The Hunter: 42:00 Dune: Prophecy (HBO Max) Out of 5 Never Cross the Bloodlines Darryl: 4.22/5 Brian: 4/5 Summary In the penultimate episode of “Dune: Prophecy,” titled “In Blood, Truth,” the narrative intensifies as intricate alliances and hidden agendas come to the forefront. Emperor Corrino establishes a new elite security regiment led by Desmond, reflecting the Emperor's covert subservience to Desmond's manipulations. Francesca, a member of the Bene Gesserit and former confidante of the Emperor, returns with the aim of influencing him while positioning her son, Constantine, in a place of power. Tula reveals that Lila, resurrected from death, now hosts the spirit of her grandmother, Raquella, who is engaged in scientific pursuits. Desmond's crackdown on rebels and the revelation of his mixed Atreides and Harkonnen lineage further complicate the power dynamics. As he incites Natalya's call to eradicate the Bene Gesserit, the episode underscores a world where the distinction between good and evil is increasingly ambiguous. The finale is poised to unravel more complexities, reinforcing themes of loyalty, deception, and the strategic maneuvers of the Bene Gesserit. Trap (2024) Out of 10 Sometimes You Just Have to Make a Movie Staring Your Daughter Darryl: 5.25/10 Brian: 6.2/10 Summary Directed by M. Night Shyamalan, “Trap” is a psychological thriller that follows Cooper (Josh Hartnett), a father who takes his teenage daughter to a pop concert featuring her favorite artist, Lady Raven. Unbeknownst to his daughter, Cooper leads a double life as a serial killer known as “The Butcher.” The concert becomes a high-stakes setting as law enforcement closes in, creating a tense atmosphere where Cooper must navigate his dual identities. Carry-On (2024) Out of 10 Someone Really Wants to be Die Hard 2 Darryl: 6.55/10 Brian: 5.5/10 Summary “Carry-On,” directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, is a suspenseful action thriller set during the holiday season. The film stars Taron Egerton as Ethan Kopek, a TSA agent at LAX airport. On Christmas Eve, Ethan is coerced by a mysterious traveler (Jason Bateman) into allowing a dangerous package through security, under threats to his loved ones. The narrative unfolds within the confines of the airport, blending high tension with action as Ethan grapples with moral dilemmas and imminent threats. Kraven the Hunter (2024) Out of 10 Why Did Rhino Have Ears Darryl: 5.77/10 Brian: 6.43/10 Summary “Kraven the Hunter” is an action-packed origin story from Sony's Spider-Man Universe. Aaron Taylor-Johnson portrays Sergei Kravinoff, known as Kraven, who embarks on a path of vengeance influenced by his complex relationship with his ruthless father, Nikolai Kravinoff (Russell Crowe). The film delves into Kraven's transformation into one of the world's most formidable hunters, exploring themes of family dynamics and the consequences of a life driven by vengeance. Crossing your legs at the knee is a very common pose people adopt when sitting down; many of us do it automatically. This position is elegant and sexy, and often associated with being ''feminine'' and ''ladylike.'' We've gotten used to crossing our legs without thinking, but not too many of us know that it can have some serious consequences for our health and bodies. Bright Side decided to share some valuable information about this posture with you, so that you'll be well informed and know how to prevent circulation problems with one simple move. Other videos you might like: 1-Minute Exercises to Improve Posture and Reduce Back Pain • 1-Minute Exercises to Improve Posture... 7 Exercises to Relieve Back Pain In 10 Minutes • 7 Exercises to Relieve Back Pain In 1... 10 Natural Ways to Get Rid of Varicose Veins and Increase Blood Flow • 10 Natural Ways to Get Rid of Varicos... TIMESTAMPS: Palsy 0:31 Increased blood pressure 0:50 Pelvic imbalance 1:33 Varicose veins 1:48 Neck pain 2:15 SUMMARY: Maintaining a particular posture for hours can lead to a condition called peroneal nerve paralysis or palsy. This can also happen if you sit in the same position for prolonged periods of time. In 2010, various studies proved that when you sit with your legs crossed for a long time, the blood pressure in your body increases. When you put one knee over the other, it sends blood from the legs up to the chest, resulting in a larger quantity of blood being pumped out of the heart. Prolonged leg-crossing eventually makes the inner thigh muscle shorter and the outer thigh muscle longer, and puts your joints at risk of moving out of place. Remember this can lead to pelvic imbalance! When your legs are crossed, the pressure on your veins increases and impedes your blood flow, causing the vessels to narrow and allowing the backflow of blood. This can cause pooling of blood in the legs and make your veins swell. A study found that sitting with the legs crossed for longer than three hours per day may develop a lower back, stooped posture, neck pain, and discomfort in your hips. Banned Books Conversations: Where Radical Readers Discuss Prohibited Prose - Join Tonya Todd and her guests every day this week as they celebrate banned books! Banned books are works that have been removed from a library shelf or school curriculum. Over the course of Banned Books Week, this series will cover seven different books, the reasons they were banned, and the value in reading them. Host: Tonya Todd (@MsTonyaTodd & http://mstonyatodd.com)Video producer: JP ButlerAudio producer: Ria CarroganGraphics: Mike Burton Episode summary: Tonya hosted a discussion with Lisa Rayne, Gregory Kompes, and Heather Young. The conversation centered around the book 'Nineteen Minutes' by Jodi Picoult. The participants expressed their views on the importance of free access to literature, particularly in educational and public settings. Concerns were raised about the increasing polarization in society and the silencing of opposing viewpoints. Guest panelists: Lisa Rayne: Teacher, writer, and former lawyer, Princeton alum. Sosheslays.com and their newest podcast So She Slays Presents The Hangover, unfiltered and unapologetic discussions about our adult struggles, dating, pop culture, and social faux pas, and hopefully, you will have a good laugh. Gregory doesn't usually like to read about violence himself and he expected the ban to be due to violence and bullying content, or even that it could be a template for a student bent on revenge. He was surprised to learn that the ban was due to a one-page sex scene. Lisa expressed her passion for literature and the importance of free access to it, particularly in educational and public settings. She is confounded by people's unwillingness to face reality and have good conversations about issues, especially when those conversations may save student lives. She also expressed her objections to certain classic literary works due to their portrayal of racism and the white savior complex. Tonya brought up an article/interview from the author Jodi Picoult, who says that she thinks often her books are banned just because others of her books are banned or because one person objects to something—like one mention of genitalia and then others jump on the band wagon but they don't actually read the book. The banning snowballs into something big based on nothing. Heather shared her love for reading that developed after discovering the ability to visualize stories. She mentioned that by not having these conversations about difficult or painful subjects we are missing the chance to help kids think through grey areas. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/comics-in-motion-podcast/message

During a recent Instagram Live chat, New York Congresswoman and “Squad” member Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez explained why she and her colleagues refused to “Force the Vote” when Democrats took control of the House in 2021, unlike what the Freedom Caucus did earlier this month. Her response was enlightening, underscoring how AOC has become a complete Democratic Party insider and wholly abandoned the “bring the ruckus” persona that helped sweep her into office as an ostensible threat to the Democratic Party power structure. Jimmy breaks down all the ways AOC unwittingly acknowledges she has betrayed her supporters and become just another lying politician. Plus a segment on astrophysicist Neil DeGrasse Tyson embarrassing himself on a podcast with his ignorance about COVID vaccine efficacy. Also featuring Stef Zamorano, Steve Kirsch and Mike MacRae! And phone calls from Kevin Spacey and the duo of Joe Biden and Andrew Cuomo!

Talk about 90's stereotypes and whatever rules to life. Of course, the kid doesn't have parents - it's 1993! Of course the cops cave to his demands to be a cop despite being 10 - it's 1993! Of course, Burt Reynolds drives over everyone's yards without consequences - its 1993! Pop Rocks for a drug prop? You betcha its 1993! Its a weird mix of Robocop, Kindergarten Cop and then a ton of crap that people thought worked in 1993 but in the end its just painfully boring and when its not, its painfully uncomfortable. This is a don't.

Tom Williams (of the New Socialist) and Hazel Potter join us to look at the significant part cricket has played in shaping England, its myths, and the class system; in the establishment and maintenance of British colonies; and in struggles for liberation. If there’s one thing you never want to do it’s cross a mob boss. Joe talks to us about what happened to the acting boss of the Bonanno Crime Family, Carmine Galante, when he decided to defy The Commission. Leo learns a lesson of his own when Joe let’s him in on what makes a good deep cover agent, and why he probably wouldn't make the cut. What happens when two FBI agents walk into a Russian dacha? ... This is episode 7 of Garner's Greek Mythology. Apollo was the god of prophesy and healing. Known as the sun-god, he founded the famous temple in Delphi from which the Pythia issued warnings and prophesies for more than 1200 years.Apollo also established centers for healing throughout Greece. Yet like his sister Artemis, he was a god of contradictions. For instance, if infuriated he could spread plague with a single arrow. In this episode we travel through Greece and then into Rome. The son of Zeus, we see him honored by the common Greek, then saluted by Roman emperors and legendary generals. Narrated by mythologist and best-selling author, Patrick Garner, Garner's Greek Mythology is unlike any other Greek history series. This series views these divine beings as if they were anything but mythical...If you love these podcasts, you'll also enjoy new stories about the gods in Garner's novel Homo Divinitas, now available as an audio book on Amazon.com and Audible.com.Join us as our adventures continue! Today's Quote is from Christopher Columbus You can never cross the ocean until you have the courage to lose sight of the shore. –Christopher Columbus Christopher Columbus was an explorer. Columbus had dreams. We are often explorers in our own lives. We often have to make the proverbial journey across an ocean. We have to do something we have never done before. Maybe even something no one has done before. That's a scary thought. Letting go of our past, getting out of our comfort zone can be frightening. But, like Columbus and other explorers before and after him, we must have the courage to lose sight of the shore if we are to cross the oceans before us. It is possible to leave the shore, to leave your comfort zone and it's also possible to cross the oceans in our mind. We can achieve the goals and dreams we have before us. You don't need courage to cross the ocean, just to leave the shore and then to lose sight of it. Once we do that, the other side is easy to see. Go Out Today and Let Go of the Shore! Be Courageous! Cross Your Oceans. Hi Goal Getting Quote of the Day listeners. I just want to let you know that we will not be doing a Quote of the Day episode on Wednesdays going forward.
