Things are finally getting back on track after a little battery incident that caused last week's small issue. Now we've got the crew together to dive right down some rabbit holes of life. Nate has a date with himself to go see the Abyss which is being re-released today. We dive into a little sports and the fun that comes with being a UCLA alumnus. We do somehow avoid the talks about the collapse of democracy but we'll be sure to get to that next week. Be safe out there folks and talk to you next week.

Tomorrow, October 27th 2023, marks a momentous occasion in pop music history. Sort of. 25 years ago on that date, the initial American compilation record of Now! That's What I Call Music made its way onto retail shelves. Some 87 volumes later (and with a 25th anniversary tracklist reveal tomorrow to boot)… Now! That's What I Call Country, Christmas, Motown, Dance, fill-in-the-blank Genre releases as well…it's snapshot of modern American music history. Sherman and Ski simply cannot, nay, WILL NOT, let this phenomenon go unnoticed. Ergo, this episode is dedicated to a track by track review of the original compact disc, the one that started it all. It peaked at #10 on the album Billboard charts, and went platinum (as did the 28 volumes that came afterwards). But to paraphrase Stefan from SNL, this collection really DID have everything…Janet Jackson, Marcy Playground, Fastball, Aqua, Lenny Kravitz, Tonic, Backstreet Boys, Radiohead, Cherry Poppin' Daddies, Hanson, All Saints…it was so NOW, then. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Now_That%27s_What_I_Call_Music!_(original_U.S._album) As regular listeners know, a chatfest about this type of sonic overload could stretch on for hours and hours. Therefore - Sherman and Ski have timed each other's commentary on this episode, limiting ourselves to a 90 second review of each track, and then pick our two tracks that we felt represented this unique moment in time (and our favorites). We hope you enjoy this trip down 90's Nostalgia Lane as much as we did recording it – take a listen to see our hot takes, and who we both picked as our essential tracks from this seminal compilation that has changed music distribution for the last 25 years!

Our beloved listener, today is a very special episode of Superlatively Yes as Tanya, and I reminisce about childhood memories. Tanya shares her empties and faves, but apparently, I am in a super nostalgic mood, and everything she mentions reminds me of a story! I'm a little bit country, and she's a little bit rock n roll, and we laugh at the similarities and extreme differences of our growing up years. Big names such as Bill Cosby, Scottie Pippen, Frank Broyles, and even Morgan Freeman appear in this episode. Where were you the night Elvis died? Hop on our Superlatively Yes Facebook page and tell us! Tanya was still a baby, but I remember it so well, even today. Enjoy this throwback episode, and then share some of your memories with us. Having been all but shut down in the early 2010s, this is a bit of a trip down Nostalgia Lane for both Paul and Wayne, as they relive the glory days of the action heavy '90s, throw in some solid comedies from a tad earlier, and even get a bit mysterious and spooky in the 2000s. The guys kick off this week’s variety box episode with David reading some hilariously awful Laffy Taffy jokes. If that isn’t the indicator for a great episode, what is?! Trev briefly discusses his newest milestone in his streaming adventure with his new setup. The boys take a stroll down Nostalgia Lane with talks of screen peeking in local multiplayer games like Goldeneye and Halo, and how they’ve grown into mature gamers that don’t spend inordinate amounts of time in the starting area. Cam asks the men about artists they’re looking forward to listening to, and somehow Em catches a stray. They cap things off with talks of public bathrooms being scary and J. Cole hype!

I’m Present-Focused by nature so it was different to allow myself to slip into Past-Focused mode and just stay there. If these concepts are foreign to you, never fear, check out previous episodes because I go into more details! I’ve just been in a state where I just haven’t wanted to do real-time reflection. It can actually get a bit exhausting when you’re constantly asking yourself, “What does this meaaaaaaan?” Sometimes it doesn’t mean anything at all.”P.S. You’re doing great!Support the show (http://bit.ly/SelfCareDiaryTipJar)

Listener beware, you’re in for a… *checks notes* trip to the intersection of Nostalgia Lane and Formative Genre Programming Boulevard. It’s the spookiest night of the year, with all the little ghosts and goblins performing tricks and collecting treats, but instead of watching in wistful remembrance of youth, The BOP Crew is celebrating Halloween by… well, talking in wistful remembrance of youth! We’re digging up the most underrated, but arguably, most important bones of the genre, and assembling a Frankensteinian canon of influential children’s horror media. We’ve got Cowardly Dogs, Midnight Societies, Goosebumps, and Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark sitting in our lab, not only waiting to give you back some old nightmares, but holding the key to what makes this stuff the very heart of horror, and essential to growing up. We all owe Ernest a life debt, is what I mean. Come little children, let me take thee away, by downloading the episode now!
