SynopsisIn St. Petersburg on today's date in 1893, Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky conducted the first performance of his latest symphony, his Sixth. From the beginning, this symphony has been commonly known by its French subtitle, the Pathétique, a designation suggested by the composer's brother, Modest. Now, by Pathetique, Modest meant something like “passionate” or “emotional,” with overtones of “pathos” and “suffering,” but in plain old English, “pathétique” translates as “pathetic,” a word with a slew of negative connotations. The French sounds much better, thank you. Tchaikovsky had originally wanted to call it A Program Symphony with, apparently, no intention of cluing anyone in on what that program might be.In any case, nine days after he conducted the premiere, Tchaikovsky was dead. Was his death the result of a fatal glass of unboiled water recklessly drunk during the height of a cholera epidemic? Or was it a deliberate suicide to avoid the scandal of a homosexual affair becoming public? Did his Pathétique Symphony encode the answer?Speculation has raged around Tchaikovsky's last symphony ever since, surrounding this last work with what one critic has called “voluptuous gloom.”Music Played in Today's ProgramPeter Tchaikovsky (1840 – 1893) Symphony No. 6 (Pathétique) - Russian National Orchestra; Mikhail Pletnev, cond. Will God answer your prayer if you don't end with, "In Jesus' name, Amen?" Learn what praying in the name of Jesus really means. I taught this week on the call of Abraham and the development of God's missionary call through the nation of Israel as they were responsible to communicate the truth of God to the cultures around them. They were given that great commission. The great commission didn't start in Matthew 28. It started with Abraham in Genesis 12 —the first three verses there —Abraham, chosen by God to raise up a nation who would then be God's priests to the world so that they would be a blessing to all of the nations. They had a unique role in the great monotheistic religion. The Jews were supposed to reflect morality to the world. Israel was to witness to the name of God. When they talked about the name of God and witnessing to God's name, that does not mean that they were to let everybody know what they called God, "Yahweh." Their goal wasn't to cover the countryside with evangelists who just let everybody know what the right word for God was. It meant something different. ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆https://linktr.ee/jacksonlibon-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- #realtalk #face #instagram #amour #take #couple #dance #dancers #vogue #voguedqnce #garden #tiktok #psychology #beyou #near #love #foryou #money #ForYouPizza #fyp #irobot #theend #pups #TikToker #couplegoals #famille #relation #doudou #youtube #twitter #tiktokers #love #reeĺs #shorts #instagood #follow #like #ouy #oyu #babyshark #lilnasx #girl #happybirthday #movie #nbayoungboy #deviance #autotrader #trading #khan #academy #carter #carguru #ancestry #accords #abc #news #bts #cbs #huru #bluebook #socialmedia #whatsapp #music #google #photography #memes #marketing #india #followforfollowback #likeforlikes #a #insta #fashion #k #trending #digitalmarketing #covid #o #snapchat #socialmediamarketingH

You can learn to play piano even though you don't own one. What is needed is access to a practice room. There are practice rooms in colleges with music programs which may or may not be open to the public. Check it out. Learning to play in public is learned while playing piano in public. It's the best of all worlds as a music student to play (practice) with an audience nearby. One or two people do fine as your confidence builds. This soundtrack is in the Microsoft Music Library. Composer: Johannes Beethoven, Op. 13, one of 32 sonatas written by him. The pianist designates this sonata as No. 8. I strongly encourage students to buy sheet music for all 32 Beethoven Sonatas and recordings. Daniel Barenboim can be seen and heard on YouTube. Visit David Long Music's channel to hear this C Major sonata, adagio cantabile aka PATHETIQUE. Published on August 5, 2013. The posting of this soundtrack meets the requirements of Fair Use. Many of the 2022 Quarterfinalists have participated in previous competitions, but today's featured pianist, Elizaveta Kliuchereva, has a different and unique perspective. In 2017, Elizaveta served on the Junior Jury of the Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Competition in Tel Aviv. In this excerpt, you'll hear Elizaveta perform Scherzo from Symphony No. 6 “Pathetique” by Tchaikovsky arr. Feinberg. -Watch the video edition of this excerpt here.
Most Americans know Tchaikovsky as the composer of the delightful dances contained within the Nutcracker Ballet. As Fr. John Strickland shows, however, there is much more to be heard in their melodies, and little that was delightful about the emotionally agonized life behind them. Using selections from a variety of works, he explores how the romantic agony came for Tchaikovsky in his boyhood and thereafter never departed. Special attention is given to an analysis of the famous Sixth Symphony, nicknamed Pathetique. First performed just days before the composer's abrupt death, the work brings the generation of the romantics to a heart-rending and emblematic conclusion.

Sabemos que a beleza é um tema muito amplo, e pode ter inclusive uma conotação atribuída ao "gosto pessoal". To close the Pathétique sonata, Beethoven writes a fast-paced Allegro in Rondo form. The theme is like static electricity, jumping between smaller objects, and throughout the movement we are treated to various adventures in the different episodes. As always your guide Henrik Kilhamn at the piano.
Pianist Henrik Kilhamn reflects on the 2nd movement of Beethoven's famous Pathétique sonata, Op. 13. The theme in the "Adagio cantabile" is one of Beethoven's sweetest melodies, and we can enjoy just floating along those long legato lines. Introduction, Analysis (1:00) and Performance (12.50)
Beethoven took the sonata form from Mozart and Haydn and developed it in a revolutionary way, turning his sonatas into epic tales. The Pathétiqe sonata Op. 13 is a hallmark in the repertoire (Pathétiqe referring to "emotional" rather than the "pathetic"), and in this video Henrik Kilhamn goes through the first movement section by section and explains how they fit in the larger scheme of things. Beethoven faces a personal crisis. Michael explores a new theory on how Beethoven lost his hearing, and how he handled the resulting social isolation. Keyboard Sonata in g minorThis is a keyboard sonata in g minor. It follows the classical sonata form. Stylistically, it is a blend of pop, neo-romanticism, minimalism, and modernism. It tends to be a bit on the dark side, although there are plenty of spots where the light shines in.I've always greatly appreciated the keyboard sonata as a form. Growing up, I particularly enjoyed the Beethoven piano sonatas. The Eighth Piano Sonata (Opus 13) was a particular favorite of mine. This particular sonata in no way attempts to mirror that one, or even Beethoven generally. If anything, it sounds a bit like Chopin in some places, and perhaps like Rachmaninov in others. Nevertheless, my affinity for the keyboard sonata is directly attributable to the Pathetique. Some Notes on Sonata for Keyboard in g minorThis keyboard sonata is a three-movement sonata that mostly follows the classical standard sonata format. Stylistically, I would describe it as neo-romantic. It has some dissonance, some quartals, some blues harmonies, and some minimalist elements, as well. First Movement - AllegrettoThis movement is in sonata form, where the main theme is in g minor, and the counter-theme is in B Flat Major. It follows the normal trajectory of exposition - development - recapitulation. In the recapitulation, the counter-theme is restated in its original B Flat Major, rather than the native g minor.Second Movement - AdagioThis is a very slow Minuette. The form is AA'BA (where "A'" is a development section) The exposition moves directly into a development section that isn't clearly distinguished from the exposition itself. The "B" section is sharply distinct from the main theme. Where the main theme is somewhat laconic and soft, the second theme is strident and assertive. The recapitulation, rather than being a full recapitulation is more like an elaboration and completion of a previous thought.Third Movement - VivaceThe third movement is typically a rondo. In this case, I depart from the norm. This is a fantasia in the following format: ABA'CA'DEA''[CODA]. Stylistically, this movement is an example of American Populist Modernism (in the vein of Copland or Bernstein) The main theme, which is a powerful, asymmetric march-like theme, is asserted, then gives way to a second theme, then comes back and develops, then gives way to a third theme, and so on and so forth. It almost has a Pictures at an Exhibition kind of feeling, although the demarcations between the main theme and the "pictures" are less pronounced. The final section presents the main theme as a more coherent melodic arch. It is also the darkest statement of the theme. The CODA is a brief variation on the main theme; it is significantly less strident than the original theme. The piece dies with a whimper. Copyright, Philip John Cornell, 2018, some rights reserved. The conversation continues regarding Tchaikovsky's BIG SOUND and BIG TUNES, with a focus on the ballet Romeo and Juliet and the 1812 Overture (heard with a choir.) We close the talk with the great composer's final symphony, "Pathetique," and tragic, controversial death. Works for solo piano and string quartet performed by pianist Paavali Jumppanen and the Belcea Quartet.Beethoven: Piano Sonata in C minor, Op. 13, “Pathétique”Bartók: String Quartet No. 1 in A minor, Op. 7Surely the feeling of the catharsis is one of the great gifts of art. The arc from darkness towards light provides an opportunity for the listener to savor a satisfying taste of peace, and perhaps a chance for the creator to work through his or her own demons as well. Bartok’s first String Quartet was likely the product of the composer’s own grieving process, after discovering that his love for the violinist Stefi Geyer was unrequited. Bartok is often quoted as describing the first movement as a “funeral dirge,” and though the entire work has a sort of abiding angst, the propulsive final movement certainly expresses a strong will to go on. First, though, we’ll hear one of the best-known solo piano pieces of the repertoire, Beethoven’s “Pathetique” sonata. A sense of melancholy pervades the piece—which accounts for the title—but the glimmering moments of resolution, particularly in the second and third movements, are so deliciously wonderful that they make it a sort of melancholy worth savoring.
This recording is the 2nd movement of Beethoven's popular Sonata Pathetique Op. 13 No. 8. The second movement is Adagio cantabile. "Cantabile" indicates that this movement should be played like a song, or something that has a distinct melody that one could sing along with. This piece was composed in 1798 and published the following year. You can read further commentary on this piece, including a dedicatory note by visiting this page of my piano blog. This selection was recorded at my home on my studio upright piano.
