The book  Is a The girls' guide to giving the cosmetics industry a makeover.Lead in lipstick? 1,4 dioxane in baby soap? Coal tar in shampoo? How is this possible?Simple. The $35 billion cosmetics industry is so powerful that they've kept themselves unregulated for decades. Not one cosmetic product has to be approved by the US Food and Drug Administration before hitting the market. Incredible? Consider this: The European Union has banned more than 1,100 chemicals from cosmetics. The United States has banned just 10.Only 11% of chemicals used in cosmetics in the US have been assessed for health and safety – leaving a staggering 89% with unknown or undisclosed effects.More than 70% of all personal care products may contain phthalates, which are linked to birth defects and infertility. Many baby soaps are contaminated with the cancer-causing chemical 1,4 dioxane. It's not just women who are affected by this chemists' brew. But there's nothing acceptable about daily multiple exposures to carcinogenic chemicals-from products that are supposed to make us feel healthy and beautiful. Not Just a Pretty Face delves deeply into the dark side of the beauty industry and looks to hopeful solutions for a healthier future. The Shift To Freedom
Developing Your Confidence and Clarity with with Erin Falter

The Shift To Freedom

Developing #confidence and #clarity requires a lot of #innerwork and dedication. It's easy to get caught up in your #ambition and constantly be looking ahead to the next project, especially as a high achiever. Learning to accept yourself, as is, in the moment is key for achieving greater freedom. Today Erin Falter, creator of WORKWORK, marketing director at Tydo, and founder at Pink Skies talks with host Ben Easter about what she has learned about developing confidence and clarity from her own coaching and personal development journey.Erin is a busy, high-achieving entrepreneur, yet in spite of her accomplishments, she was still struggling with inner confidence and clarity. Often she was saying yes to requests that were outside of alignment with her values instead of being comfortable saying no. Instead of focusing fully on her current project, she was distracted by looking to the horizon, certain that her next project would be the one that finally made her feel happy and successful. Through her work with Ben, Erin learned how to take a step back and really listen to her inner self for guidance through practices like meditation and #journaling. She learned that she was still operating from a place of limiting beliefs that were no longer applicable. Realizing that those beliefs were no longer effective was a large part of being able to switch her mindset. If you are struggling to develop confidence and clarity, take time to sort out your inner thoughts and overall mindset. Learn to make decisions from a place of true alignment with your inner values rather than out of urgency or scarcity.Quotes“Anything that's asking you for your time or your energy doesn't [mean]... that you have to give to it.” (12:12-12:19 | Erin)“At some point you really do need to shift that mentality from yes to everything to no to everything and then having the discernment to say yes when it makes sense for you.” (14:21-14:30 | Erin) “We're always on the leading edge of creation and our reality, so the horizon will always stay on the horizon. And there will always be a distance between."“It's really important to take that time to look within and really question your thoughts, make sure you're thinking about things from the right perspective.” (23:51-23:56 | Erin)“Journaling, I think, is such an incredible tool and power.” (28:41-28:46 | Erin)“Sometimes people think you work through it and you're done. But it's not usually how it works as a human.” (32:03-32:09 | Erin)LinksConnect with Erin Falter:Newsletter: https://w0rkw0rk.substack.com/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/erin-falter-4b454728/Instagram: @erinfalterTwitter: @erinfalterConnect with Ben:Website: https://lucidshiftcoaching.com/Lucid Shift Coaching IG: https://www.instagram.com/lucid_shift_coaching/Project Candlelight: https://airtable.com/shr5p0P2793RtRk2kPodcast production and show notes provided by HiveCast.fm Hosted on Acast. Blige (The Umbrella Academy), Devon Bostick (Diary of a Wimpy Kid), Marcia Gay Harden (Mystic River, Pollock), Michael McKean (Better Call Saul, This Is Spinal Tap), Lewis Pullman (Bad Times at the El Royale), Evan Ross Cameron (The United States vs. Billie Holiday), Odeya Rush (Goosebumps, Lady Bird), Rosa Salazar (Alita: Battle Angel) and Henry Winkler (Barry). Writer and Director Kelly Oxford joins us for a lively conversation on making the jump from novelist / essayist to filmmaker and the role that media and storytelling can play in addressing our nation's persistent and growing mental health challenges. PINK SKIES AHEAD, written and directed by New York Times best-selling author Kelly Oxford, will premiere, commercial-free broadcast on Saturday, May 8 at 9:00PM ET/PT on MTV with a simulcast on Pop TV.

(RELEASED ORIGINALLY ON 28.09.20) In 2016, Peggy's mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, and in that afternoon her husband lost his job as a stockbroker. They sold their home and drove across the country moving in with her parents to be caregivers to her mother. After her mother passed away in July 2019, she began writing a memoir of her journey as her caregiver. Searching for podcasts on Alzheimer’s, she recognised a void in addressing the honest and heartbreaking struggle of the caregiver. With the lingering pandemic as a motivator, she decided to podcast her stories as she felt they needed to be told now.   The fast-growing podcast has touched people across the world. Peggy’s podcast "Life In The A-Zone" is devoted to helping caregivers, friends, and family heal and recuperate from the Alzheimer’s experience or the “A-Zone” as she named it. Using her own life experiences as anecdotes, Peggy hopes that listeners will consider her podcast as a source of strength and hope.  She highlighted the message from these stories is not only applicable to Alzheimer’s but to anyone who has watched their loved ones slip away slowly from a life-threatening disease.   Hear Peggy's amazing story (This excerpt was taken from "Life In The A-Zone" Podcast - Pink Cloud Moments) Please reach out to Peggy for interviews, quotes and feedback about Life In the A-Zone podcast during November for Alzheimer’s Awareness Month in the United States. The doctors predicted an 80% chance I would never see again, but I changed the way I was living and through sheer willpower beat the odds.During this time I couldn't read or write. Two things that I had been turning to for comfort since I was a small child. With the sheer amount of stress I was under, this was devastating. My wife took me by the arm, lead me into the local library, and read out titles of audiobooks to me. I chose the audiobook versions of books I had loved such as the Disc World series, Name of the Wind, Harry Potter and more. They brought my favorite stories to life in ways I never thought possible, and helped me through the darkest time of my life.Once my vision recovered, I maintained a love for audiobooks. I decided I would turn my focus from being a writer to becoming a narrator. I devised Tall Tale TV as a way to help out all the amazing authors in the writing communities I had come to love before my ordeal.I created Tall Tale TV to help aspiring authors by providing them with a promotional audiobook video. A way to showcase their skills with the written word. They say the strongest form of advertisement is word of mouth, so I provide a video to a platform of readers to help get people talking. A luxury department store in the United Kingdom recently launched a line of chocolate bars with peculiar names. Fortnum & Mason's new line of sweet treats, called Chocolate Library, is composed of 21 unusually named chocolates. Some of the strange monikers include “Pilots Fly in Pink Skies,” “Goodnight, My Bittersweet Beloved,” and “The Icebreaker.” Each bar costs up to £6.95 or around $9, and the complete set costs £140 or about $184. Sophie Young, one of Fortnum & Mason's purchasing officers, revealed that the chocolates' names were intentional. In keeping with the Chocolate Library theme, the chocolate bars' names and the packaging were designed to resemble a book collection. The company's objective is to show consumers that chocolate and literature have something in common—both are sweet and mysterious. Fortnum & Mason also came up with a corresponding short story for some of the chocolate bars to ensure that consumers will have a special experience in buying the products. In addition, Young said that the names were created to highlight the ingredients used in each bar. The name “Pilots Fly in Pink Skies” was inspired by the ingredients white chocolate, strawberry, and black pepper, while the one named “Goodnight, My Bittersweet Beloved” is made with sugar-free dark chocolate. Following the launch, the chocolate bars have received a lot of attention online. Some netizens were concerned, saying that the creator of the chocolates' names could be going through a problem. On the other hand, others commented that the names were a stroke of genius. One expressed interest in buying the entire set because of the chocolates' compelling names and creative design.

This month, I felt a sudden shock of inspiration and this podcast seemed to appear instantly out of thin air! EPISODE #70 of Random Old Records started like many past ones have, with a song that I couldn't get out of my head.In this case, it was the first track off the classic 1997 album by The Promise Ring, Nothing Feels Good. "Is This Thing On?" lit a spark in me that led to a set of incredible late '90s post-hardcore emo-punk-pop from Jets To Brazil, Superchunk, and others. From there, the episode flows into a bunch of recent jams from One Eleven Heavy, Shannon and the Clams, Exploded View, Mountain Movers, Dreamend, and so much more. If you like raw post-punk, rootsy guitars, and/or dreamy drones, there's something for you here, plus you'll get wild excerpts from the 1960 sci-fi classic Amazing Transparent Man!Don't forget to SUBSCRIBE to Random Old Records via iTunes, Google Play, or RSS. If you like the show, please rate it and write a review! More classic episodes from the past ten years are being added to the feed as well, so check those out as well. You can also go the traditional route and stream or download the new episode below. Watch this space in about a month for the next episode of Random Old Records.
