Monday afternoon means another episode of the Real Life podcast is set and ready to kick off your week. On today's episode, the guys discussed Tyler's Uber issue, travel stories from Montreal and Boston, and whatever random topics came to mind as they were recording. The guys started the Monday episode of Real Life by discussing why Tyler and Baggedmilk were the only ones who showed up for the Monday podcast. After starting the show by wondering where everyone was, Jay and Wanye wandered into the studio after the recording had already started, which derailed the conversation but also made it better.Changing gears, Tyler told a story about getting scammed by an Uber in Montreal after pre-booking a ride to the airport. As you'll hear, this was one of the most confusing Uber situations ever. While the car was in motion on the way to the airport, the driver tried to hustle Tyler out of some cash instead of taking him where he needed to be for the pre-negotiated fare. No matter how you look at the situation, it seems like Tyler got ripped off in what can only be described as a very odd situation. From there, Tyler told a few stories about his time in Montreal and Boston, which he described as one of the coolest sports experiences he's had with The Nation Network so far. He talked about the Canada vs. USA final, driving to Boston through a snowstorm, and took listeners behind the scenes on what it was like to put on live shows from the event. If you thought it was going to be one of those situations where everything ran smoothly, you will be pleasantly surprised at how things tend to go sideways. Finally, the guys wrapped up the podcast with an array of topics, including everyone's excitement for the Olympics, how great it was that Connor McDavid got his signature moment with Team Canada, and why Tyler needs to watch the movie Armageddon. As always, the Monday episode of Real Life was all over the map and wasn't able to stick on a single topic for very long.

Coming up this Saturday on Finding Your Bliss, we have a show devoted to musical theatre and a beyond gifted composer and theatre creator, that many are comparing to Stephen Sondheim. Celebrity Interviewer and Bliss Coach Judy Librach is joined by the masterful and uber talented Andrew Seok. Andrew Seok began his career as a Musical Theatre Singer & Composer, moved onto Vocal Coach, then Singer / Songwriter, Record Producer, TV / Film Composer, Theatre Creator, and Filmmaker. After the success of his first musical, “ECHOES”, Andrew went on to produce and direct its feature film version, which screened at The Reelworld Film Festival, The Montreal World Film Festival, and Fort Meyers Film Festival. He is currently in the final stages of post production for his second musical film “What Am I Without You?”, and has written and directed the musical short film, “Because of You”, as well as the dance short film, “Everything” where the entire story is told through music and contemporary dance. In addition, Andrew created the short musical documentary, “Birth of a Song”. On top of all of this, in 2019, Andrew wrote the Toronto Fringe Festival hit, UNRAVELLED as his second live stage musical project, and followed that up with his critically acclaimed mega musical, “The Man With The Golden Heart” in 2023. Most recently, in 2024, Andrew premiered, “Rosamund – A New Musical”, a reimagining of Sleeping Beauty, with the entire run selling out in a matter of days. Each night of the 11 night run not only had a sold out crowd, but was accompanied by very exuberant and lengthy standing ovations. The show was a runaway hit! Everything Seok does is marked by a stroke of genius. He is a man of many talents; a modern-day media renaissance man! As a Juno nominated music producer, he has written and produced music for worldwide campaigns for Nike, Coca-Cola, Samsung, Visa, Dove, X-Box, The Super Bowl, BMW, Dragonball Z, as well as numerous TV series such as: “Playmakers” (ESPN), “Global Morning Show”, “Canada's Worst Driver”, numerous shows on the Discovery Channel, and “Addicted To Plastic” (Netflix). He has worked for Feist, Chantal Kreviazuk, Raine Maida (Our Lady Peace), Jully Black, Jeff Healey, and Stephen Flaherty & Lynn Ahrens (Ragtime, Anastasia). Among his recent projects, Andrew has written a short musical film “90 Days” – a love story during Covid times, and his upcoming feature-length musical film “Where Do We Go From Here?”, which delves into the intricacies of modern relationships. Andrew is also currently the artistic director of Eclipse Theatre Company in Toronto. Our interview was fascinating, fun and a wonderful glimpse into the magnificent artistry of this great talent. We all have darker parts of ourselves, whether they're pieces of the past, or pieces that are showing up in the present, or even both at the same time. What Chloe Morgan and I discuss in today's episode is how we can meet these parts of ourselves with love to really become our whole, best selves. Rather than abandoning these pieces, or shutting them behind closed doors, we can meet them with understanding, acceptance, then love, to integrate them into who we are now. To show these pieces the love they've always wanted, so all of our parts can thrive as our best self. Tune into the episode as we dig into all of this for our Embrace Your Unapologetic Authenticiy Mini Series going on all this week, and stay on the look for our full Unapologetic Stories episode coming out on September 12th! Chantal Kreviazuk is a Canadian singer, songwriter, composer, and pianist—her voice is the soundtrack of all Kate's Canadian's teenage angst. She has had an incredible career with a passion for helping others. Among many things, she's a powerful advocate for destigmatizing mental illness—a cause near and dear to her heart after her brother struggled to get adequate care for nearly 20 years. She's said, “When a family member is sick, the whole family is sick.” She offers such wisdom for people who struggle with a hurting family member, or their own mental health, or for their marriages that are sometimes not as easy as we had hoped. In this conversation, Kate and Chantal discuss: Setting necessary boundaries in complicated families The ups and downs of a marriage and the unexpected gifts that only reveal themselves when you commit to staying in it for the long haul A trick to starting a hard day Watch clips from this conversation, read the full transcript, and access discussion questions by clicking here or visiting katebowler.com/podcasts. It's a journey that has helped them to find better lines of communication within their marriage and also with their kids. They also talk about the changing landscape of music and social media and how more than ever audiences want a glimpse behind the songs and into the lives of the artist...and what that means for a couple who have very different feelings on that topic. Canadian singer, songwriter, composer, and pianist, Chantal Kreviazuk was born in Winnipeg. She played music from a young age before signing with Columbia Records in the 1990s. Her debut studio album, Under These Rocks and Stones, was first released in Canada in 1996 and saw commercial success before being issued in the United States the following year to critical praise. Kreviazuk released two more studio albums with the Columbia la-bel, Colour Moving and Still (1999) and What If It All Means Some-thing (2002), both of which brought moderate commercial success world-wide. She signed with Sony BMG for her fourth album, Ghost Stories (2006), which reached number two on the Canadian Albums Chart. Since 2003, Kreviazuk has co-written and composed numerous songs for other artists as well as film soundtracks and has appeared in several Canadian independent and short films. Her fifth album, Plain Jane, was re-leased by Canadian independent label MapleMusic Recordings in 2009. Her most recent albums, Hard Sail and Get To You, were released by Warner Music Canada in 2016 and 2020, respectively. She also re-leased a Christmas album in 2019, called Christmas Is A Way Of Life, My Dear. From the beginning of her career to 2016, Kreviazuk was the 51st best-selling Canadian artist in Canada. Kreviazuk met Raine Maida, the lead singer of Our Lady Peace, at a Pearl Jam concert in Toronto in 1996. They married in December 1999, and have three sons, born January 2004, June 2005, and June 2008. In honour of their tenth wedding anniversary, Kreviazuk and Maida renewed their wed-ding vows in Costa Rica in November 2009. The family lives in Toronto and also has a home in the USA. Kreviazuk and Maida appeared in the 2019 documentary film I'm Going to Break Your Heart, which detailed both their collaboration on the al-bum Moon vs. Sun, their first album recorded jointly as a duo, and the conflicts and tensions that had arisen in their marriage after 19 years. Kreviazuk is a member of the Canadian charity Artists Against Racism and is also intimately involved with War Child and other charities. Janette caught-up with her on the red carpet at 10th Annual Vaughan International Film Festival (VFF) Gala Awards (where she was the featured entertainer) to talk about her three-time Juno Award winner and collaborations with several other musicians, including Drake, Pitbull, Christina Aguilera, Carrie Underwood, Kendrick Lamar and Pink, how she sees VFF helping young artists, and what more she'd like to see for Metis & Ukrainian artists. Yesterday a client and I decided that Dawsons Creek should be a musical genre! We worked on the song "Feels Like Home" By Chantal Kreviazuk which is featured in the show and the first of many DC vocal breakdowns that I plan on sharing here! In this episode I look at how to warm up to sing the song, ways to build the higher notes and really relax your genuine sound to sing this song the best way for your instrument. Let me know if there are other songs you'd like me to break down for you! To get some singing straws as mentioned in this episode, check out this link To listen to the original song, click here.
The second-to-last set of 5 songs joins the Lilith fray by zig-zagging all over the map: Ani DiFranco, India.Arie, Natalie Imbruglia, Aimee Mann, and Chantal Kreviazuk take us from a soggy subbasement of the Brill Building, to the desert, to the diner for a celery soda, to the valley of the shadow of WTF. That's where the doctors with butterfly nets found us; where did the Top 35 rankings find YOU? Grab a copy of the CanCon statute and a vegan crunch wrap, because we're almost done with the Lilith Fair 40. Our intro is by Laura Barger and Jack Baldelli, and our outro is by Peggy Lee. I'm sure Neil Young will be just fine now that he's parted ways with Spotify. In fact, based on the way musicians, writers and producers get paid through the streaming service, Neil's Spotify revenues probably didn't amount to much in the grand scheme of his Rock and Roll Hall of Fame career income. I recently had the chance to talk to Juno Award winner Chantal Kreviazuk about the state of the industry and she bluntly says she can't make a living simply selling her recorded music.

We had the pleasure of interviewing Chantal Kreviazuk of Moon Vs Sun over Zoom video! Husband and wife duo Moon Vs Sun, who are GRAMMY® Award-winning singer, songwriter, and artist Chantal Kreviazuk and Our Lady Peace frontman, Raine Maida, has released “I’m Going To Break Your Heart,” their brand new album and documentary of the same name. “This project is about how we came together and continue to grow together – through challenges and all, we are committed to cracking the love code. Even with that said, we know that no matter how much we love each other or how well we’ve learned how to love each other, one of us will inevitably die before the other and will leave the other with a broken heart, thus the title ‘I’m Going to Break Your Heart,’” said Chantal Kreviazuk. Chantal Kreviazuk and Raine Maida have left an indelible mark on popular culture. Raine founded and fronts platinum-selling alternative rock stalwarts Our Lady Peace and has garnered four Juno Awards. Meanwhile, Chantal has received a GRAMMY® Award and three Juno Awards and released eight critically acclaimed solo albums. Behind the scenes, Chantal has worked with acts like Kendrick Lamar and Drake, while together the couple has penned hits for everyone from Kelly Clarkson to Carrie Underwood. In recognition of their contributions to charity and the arts, Raine and Chantal were both appointed to the Order of Canada in 2014. The documentary, I’m Going to Break Your Heart, captures the raw and wrenching journey these renowned singer-songwriters took to find their way back to each other. Filmed on France’s isolated but romantic Saint Pierre et Miquelon island in the dead of winter, the documentary immerses viewers in their musical relationship, even as it exposes long-standing wounds and unresolved heartache. Ultimately, I’m Going to Break Your Heart is the true story of rediscovering love through creativity, in which music plays the lead role. We want to hear from you! We’re retracing her country/gospel routes and dissecting the making of her first seminal album Let Go. We’re also rehashing her musically beneficial but personally detrimental relationship with W&S mainstays Chantal Kreviazuk and Raine Maida.
