Today's conversation will change your thoughts about time—our most precious and often overlooked currency. Returning to the show is Heather Chauvin, a dynamic speaker, coach, and author whose wisdom on time management is nothing short of transformative. Heather's journey began in a crucible of crisis—a stage-four cancer diagnosis. Still, from that challenging moment, she built a revolutionary approach to owning and investing time to live richly and intentionally. In this episode, Heather and I dive into her signature concept of "energetic time management," where time isn't just about productivity or calendars; it's about aligning your energy, values, and desires to create a life that feels as good as it looks. She shares the origin of this system, the profound realizations she had while juggling motherhood and a career, and why most of us are in what she calls "time debt." Heather explains how to break free, set boundaries, and treat time like money—because every moment matters. We'll also talk about practical strategies: building a dream calendar and redefining your relationship with time. Also: Why outsourcing isn't a luxury—it's a necessity for creating space to thrive. This week, we're talking to IL Belize Correspondent, Shane Kenny, and his wife, Heather, about their decision to up sticks from their home in Atlanta and move to the Caribbean nation of Belize. With two sons at high school, and established careers in the States, there were plenty of reasons why Shane and Heather shouldn't have taken the plunge, but fortune favors the brave, and it wasn't long before they turned their dream of owning a beachside hospitality business became a reality. Adventurous? For sure. Hard work? Definitely. And that's before they got hit with a pandemic lockdown in their first year of trading…. Shane and Heather were definitely not the first couple who looked around themselves one day and thought, "Let's give it all up and go run a bar in the Caribbean." But there's a big difference between dreaming it and doing it. Now, after lots of learning-on-the-job and hard work, they've made their Belize dream come true.It didn't happen right away. In fact, their search for the perfect opportunity started in an entirely different Caribbean nation—the Dominican Republic. But in the end, it was the practical details of Belize—no currency fluctuations, a more recognizable legal structure, and above all, the fact that the official language is English—that won out. Combing the coastline in search of the ideal spot, it was almost entirely by luck that they hit upon an abandoned beach club with an almost empty pool…and realized that they'd hit pay dirt."That's kind of the story of how we ended up here and how we ended up with what's now called Placencia Beach Club," explains Shane. "And so what we do is, we are a bar and a restaurant, but we're on the beach, and we have a pool as well, so we call it a beach club because people come not just to eat or drink, but they come kind of spend the day and relax. And so they'll hang out in the pool or on the beach or in the water."Now, with the business ticking along, and all the hassles of relocation behind them, there's time to reflect: "Life is simpler," says Heather. "Not every aspect of life is easier, but it's so much simpler and a lot less stressful from outside influences."Join host, Jim Santos, as he meets Shane and Heather Kenny in the latest episode of Bigger, Better World.Read Heather's full article in the August issue of the International Living Magazine: We Turned an Abandoned Pool into a Booming Beach ClubIf you're enjoying the podcast, we would really appreciate it if you could leave us a review on your favorite podcast platform: https://lovethepodcast.com/internationalliving.Facebook | Instagram | Twitter | YouTube

Shame is what keeps us afraid and hiding around our body image issues. When we're embarrassed, we will do anything to cover our shame. Sometimes it seems like the easiest route to covering our shame would be to "get" the body/outside appearance that we want so we will be safe from condemnation or the opinions of others. But, shame is deeper than our skin. What often happens is that we may have a successful physical transformation, but the shame remains. Then it feels even more hopeless because what was supposed to take our shame away didn't work. The only one who can take away our shame is Jesus. No matter how much you've been bullied by yourself or others for your body – no matter how much shame you feel about your body or your eating disorder or anything in your past – Jesus is the only one who can take away the shame. Verse and Action Step related to Praying for Protection from Shame About Body Image Verse of the Day: Romans 10:11 – Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame. Action: Share with a friend (a trusted friend, your husband, a mentor--must be someone you can trust) what you've been struggling with and how you've felt shame. You don't have to share details. Only share what you want. If you don't have anyone to share with - drop me an email at Heather @ compared to who (dot) me. Want more of Heather's story? Read Heather's book, Compared to Who? Christian Body Image Coach, Heather Creekmore, has never worked with a client who didn't have a soundtrack of lies that she listened to regularly. Lies rage and tell these women they are lazy, ugly, not good enough, or should feel ashamed. Today we talk about the lies -- how easy they are to listen to and how important it is to block them out after you identify them. Most of us will say things to ourselves that we would never say out loud to someone else. One challenge for many of us is we gaslight ourselves into believing the lies. We've heard these lies for so long that we don't challenge them anymore, they've become part of our identity. They become truths that we've just come to accept about ourselves. But they are not the truth. They are lies! Today in our Tune Into Him Body Image Prayer series, we talk about the first step in identifying the lies and we pray for protection from the bombardment of lies that the enemy sends. Verse and Action Step related to Praying for Protection from Fear Around Body Image Verse of the Day: John 8:44 reveals Satan's character as a liar- the father of lies. We don't have to listen to Satan or his lies. "You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies." Action: Start a lies list – what are the lies you hear about your body, your worth, your eating? Write them down -this helps you see clearly that they are lies. Want more of Heather's story? How is it that the richest and most powerful country in the world can't provide even the most basic of human needs for its citizens? What has been holding America back when much poorer countries are able to provide a more stable social safety net? Heather McGhee, one of our most thoughtful economic and policy thinkers has a new book out explaining that racism -- specifically the fear by white Americans that any gains by Black Americans come at their expense -- has reliably turned the majority of white Americans AGAINST government programs that would help all Americans for fear that it would be beneficial to people of color. She joins Michael to discuss what we can do to overcome this decades-long propaganda campaign that has afflicted white America, and how the idea of a "solidarity dividend" can unite a multi-racial, cross-class coalition to take on concentrated wealth and power and build a better country. In this three-part podcast miniseries, Tom "Attorney Dad" Frizzell plays host and invites his daughter Heather to share what she learned in her Master's program in International Studies at the University of Washington. She discusses how writing her academic thesis on Dzhokhar "Jahar" Tsarnaev's case helped her better understand not just the Boston Marathon bombing, but the War on Terror, American foreign policy, and systemic discrimination against Muslims. In the final installment, she wraps up her discussion of the "micro": how the mainstream media coverage of Jahar's case fanned the flames of misinformation, which aided prosecutors in their bid to sentence him to death in 2015. Topics covered include bias from journalists, particularly from disgraced Boston Globe columnist Kevin Cullen and in the controversial July 2013 Rolling Stone article "Jahar's World;" understanding Jahar's so-called "jihadist rhetoric" as an invention of Western law enforcement; solving the riddle of the boat note, the most damning piece of evidence used against Jahar at trial; why his legal team leaned into Orientalist stereotypes to defend him; how national American politics influenced the Obama administration's stance on pursuing the death penalty for Jahar; the dubious nature of "terrorism experts" and their use by the government at trial; the dangers inherent to private intelligence firms; a hot take on "jihadists" in general, and more. She discusses colonialism’s legacy in modern geo-politics, definitions of Orientalism and Islamophobia, Orientalist perceptions of the Russian-Chechen conflict, the flawed definition of “terrorism,” how the policies of America’s War on Terror were specifically crafted to oppress Muslims, and more.Read Heather’s thesis here: https://usvtsarnaev.org/2019/10/29/regimes-of-truth-why-everything-known-about-the-boston-marathon-bombing-is-wrong/http://twitter.com/USvTsarnaevhttp://facebook.com/USvTsarnaevhttp://usvtsarnaev.org

It's Time to Sell Podcast: Strategies for 21st Century Selling
“At the end of the day, we all want to be and feel perfect, but we don’t want to buy perfect – unless we’re buying a Mercedes.” Today’s guest is Digital Marketing Sales Expert, Heather Havenwood. Heather mentors coaches, experts, & service providers how to get media exposure to make more money. As a sales and marketing expert, she helps entrepreneurs define the messaging, the marketing, the positioning, the packaging, & the media that is best for their business & life. Read Heather’s FULL Bio http://sexybossinc.com/sexy-boss-about/ In this episode, we talk about her transition from being an employee to an entrepreneur, the two things that people buy, the two things entrepreneurs should focus on first before doing content marketing or Facebook ads, moving the free line, and empathy and being authentic. I enjoyed every minute of our conversation and I hope you do too. Click that play button to listen! Learning By Doing I learned by doing; I didn’t really have a sales process. It wasn’t until years later that I started in the information marketing business and the seminar business, where I was traveling around the country doing 40-50 events every year, that I had to learn a process. In that sales environment, I'm sitting in front of a room of strangers, and I had 90 minutes to get $3,000 out of their pockets. And if I didn’t get that money, we’re eating ramen noodles tonight. If we got that money, we’re eating Ruth’s Chris Steak. That was the choice I had. “That’s when I started to learn direct response copy, know, like and trust, connection, and how do you move someone in from the fence to closing the deal – all those little nuances got really fine-tuned there.” Two Things That People Buy “There are only two things that people buy: hope and confidence. It’s hope and confidence.” If you think about it, you’re sitting in a room, we say whatever we say, they give us three grand, and they walk out with a piece of paper, and they walk out with the potential in making money. It’s the exact, same sales process that every university on the planet sells to the kids. “If you go to our university, the potential of you coming out with a job, potentially, maybe, at $75,000/year, is higher than if you go to that university.” Right? At the end of the day, a piece of paper. Message, Market, Media I work on three things with my clients: message, market, media. The first thing is that message, which is all the sales side. And then who’s the market? Is the message and market matching? Where are they? Is it on Facebook ads? Maybe it’s not. Maybe it’s on a thing called a phone call. Don’t go crazy on me, but it could be on LinkedIn; it could not be. It could be at trade shows; it could not be. “Before we ever get to where they are, you’ve got to make sure of the message and market. I work on those first two, and sometimes we’re on those for a long time because they’re not matching.” I can work on those for a while, until we get to the media buying. You can’t really get to media buying, which is all that is – the funnel-making, the Facebook ads, the email marketing, podcast – all those things are media. All those are media; all those are tools. Email marketing, podcasting, Facebook ads, YouTube ads – those are tools. But if you don’t have the message and market right, step 1 and 2, it doesn’t matter how much money you throw at it. It just doesn’t matter. I work a lot on the first two, and then when they’re ready, I allow them to go to media buying. Empathy “At the end of the day, we all want to be and feel perfect, but we don’t want to buy perfect – unless we’re buying a Mercedes.” If we’re hiring a coach or a consultant, we want to know that they’re going to give us the results, but we also want to know that they can understand our struggles and our concerns. In our Halloween episode, we read the tea leaves of three movies about crews of witches supporting each other, fighting demonic men, and (in one case) sucking the lifeblood from small children. And while "Practical Magic," "Hocus Pocus" and "The Witches of Eastwick" might appear to cry out for a #CovenGoals celebration of witchy power, these movies are a pretty wild broom-ride of giant performances, confounding gender politics, and having no idea what magic is. This week, we're thrilled to be joined by Syfy Wire writer Heather Mason to discuss Sandra Bullock's rom-com plot stuck in the middle of “Practical Magic” and whether “Hocus Pocus” is suitable for kids. Heather Mac Donald joins Brian Anderson to discuss the state of policing today, the “Ferguson Effect,” former FBI director James Comey’s defense of proactive policing, and the recent protests against conservative speakers on college campuses. Since the fatal shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri on August 9, 2014, public discussion about police and the criminal justice system has reached a fever pitch: activists claim that policing is inherently racist and discriminatory, while supporters say that public pressure has caused officers to disengage from proactive policing. President Trump’s promise to restore “law and order” in American cities upset many progressives, but with violent crime on the rise in cities across the country since 2014, Trump was right to raise the issue. Read Heather’s piece in the Spring 2017 issue of City Journal, “How Trump Can Help the Cops.” Heather Mac Donald is the Thomas W. Smith Fellow at the Manhattan Institute and a contributing editor of City Journal. She is a recipient of the 2005 Bradley Prize. Mac Donald’s work at City Journal has covered a range of topics including higher education, immigration, policing, homelessness and homeless advocacy, criminal-justice reform, and race relations. Her writing has appeared in the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post, the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, The New Republic, and The New Criterion. Mac Donald's newest book, The War on Cops (2016), warns that raced-based attacks on the criminal-justice system are eroding the authority of law and putting lives at risk.
