Welcome to the What's Next! Podcast with Tiffani Bova. This week I'm reflecting on a conversation with Heather Monahan that I think is valuable to everyone, no exceptions! Heather is a best-selling author, keynote speaker, entrepreneur, and founder of Boss In Heels. As a Chief Revenue Officer in Media, Heather Monahan is a Glass Ceiling Award winner, named one of the most Influential Women in Radio in 2017, and Thrive Global named her a Limit Breaking Female Founder in 2018. Heather is a confidence expert and her book Confidence Creator shot to #1 on Amazon's Business Biographies and Business Motivation list the first week it debuted on Amazon, and her show “Creating Confidence with Heather Monahan” can be found on Apple podcasts. THIS EPISODE IS PERFECT FOR… anyone who wants to reach his or her full potential and needs that important confidence boost! TODAY'S MAIN MESSAGE… take ownership of your mental platform and be intentional about the tape you run repeatedly in your head. Confidence is the key to unlocking your full potential, and that confident mindset starts with you. It starts by developing that confidence skill through discipline and frequency. When that confidence muscle is strong, scary does not mean freeze, it means go faster. So, take action! Major action is the catalyst that accelerates the confidence growth cycle. There are many paths to confidence, but not all the steps along those paths are created equal, and the bigger the risk, the bigger the confidence reward. Stop letting self-limiting beliefs and fear tell you you're stuck. No excuses. Just take action! WHAT I LOVE MOST… Heather has no shortage of passion for building confidence, taking risks, “firing your villains,” and making the big decisions that will lead you where you need to be and doing what you love! A lot has happened these past couple of years – both globally and on a personal level. Despite all the change and disruption, I have learned to remain more calm and in control. I have learned that success is not necessarily found in some big, monumental event. However it is often the result of the small, incremental habits and decisions we make on a daily basis.Having a solid and consistent routine is something which is really important to me. No matter how disruptive a given situation may be, having a series of predictable steps I follow each morning means that I am in a better headspace to tackle whatever challenges are thrown at me throughout the day. It also results in me taking a more proactive, rather than reactive approach to my day.Aside from having a consistent morning and evening routine, there are a few practices and small changes I've put in place which have positively impacted my life.In this episode, you'll learn:· How to start living and being in the present moment· The benefits of breath work and cold water therapy· Learning to listen and lean into your intuition· The importance of doing passionate work and how to find your passion· Self-care techniquesIf you enjoy this episode and learning about small changes which have positively impacted my life, please take a moment to subscribe, rate and review the Boss in Heels Podcast on Apple Podcasts! Please also recommend the podcast to a friend, family member, colleague or someone in your network who you know would benefit from listening to these episodes. Criticism is something we have all experienced in our lives at one point or another. I know I certainly have. We can be criticised for just about anything – from the relationship we are in, to the friendships we keep, to the clothes we wear, the colour or style of our hair, the work that we do, for speaking up about something we feel passionate about…the list goes on.Aristotle once said “There is only one way to avoid criticism. Do nothing, say nothing, and be nothing.” I would be inclined to take this a step further and say you will even be criticised for doing nothing. So if we are going to be criticised irrespective of what we do (or don't do), we may as well do what we want.In this solo episode, you'll learn:· The importance of recognising that you are not alone, and some of the greatest change makers of our time who refused to let criticism kill their dreams· Strategies on how to respond and deal with criticism· How to stay focused on your mission and calling· Ways I've personally dealt with criticism· The power of living life for yourself, and not for othersIf you enjoy this episode and learning about strategies to keep criticism from killing your dreams, please take a moment to subscribe, rate and review the Boss in Heels Podcast on Apple Podcasts! Please also recommend the podcast to a friend, family member, colleague or someone in your network who you know would benefit from listening to these episodes. Growing up, I suffered from extreme shyness and a real lack of confidence. I know what it feels like to have a voice but to be too afraid to use it for fear of being judged or not being ‘good enough.' Whether we choose to admit it to ourselves or not, we all have limiting beliefs – that tiny voice in our head that tells us that we can't do something, and that we shouldn't dare to try.Through going on my own personal development journey and having a powerful and inspiring ‘why,' I have found myself in many situations where I've had to face my fears. Feeling the fear and doing it anyway is no longer the exception, but the norm. I've also learned through my own experience that being confident is not something that we are necessarily born with, and it certainly a skill that can be learned.Building confidence has enabled me to achieve many things – be a more effective leader, communicator, get more promotional opportunities, earn more money, attract a different calibre of people into my life, make a meaningful impact… the list goes on. There are a multitude of reasons why building on your confidence is a worthy pursuit. In this episode, you'll learn:5 key strategies I've tried and tested within my own life to help elevate and boost my confidence. Why confidence comes from following through and doing the things you say you're going to do.Why you should spend time, money and resources on investing in yourself and building your confidence. The importance of power dressing. How to face your fears. If you enjoy this episode, please remember to subscribe, rate and review The Boss in Heels Podcasts! Please also be sure to check out and subscribe to my new YouTube channel, Boss in Heels TV!
After embarking on a life-long personal development journey which I started a few years ago, I quickly recognised that in order to get good answers, you have to ask good questions. Not only are there questions that we should ask others, however there are questions we must ask ourselves. There are questions that we only ourselves can know the answer.Sometimes, these questions may be straight-forward and seemingly simple. At other times, these questions may bring up feelings of discomfort - an overwhelming sense of reality (or denial) which we weren't quite ready for.Whatever may be the case, I've learned that in order to grow as a human being, to become the best version of myself, to live on-purpose and to achieve some of my wildest dreams, I have to be willing to ask myself some though questions. In this solo episode, I share three of the biggest life-changing questions I've ever asked myself. I cover:The importance of finding out your life's purpose, even if it does feel overwhelming at first. Why chasing legacy, contribution and impact can be more meaningful than chasing money.Creating a narrative and story-telling.How to design a life, and begin to envisage your life without limitations.Building your 10 year plan for a remarkable life.If you enjoy this episode, please remember to subscribe, rate and review the Boss in Heels Podcast! Please also recommend the podcast to a friend, family member, colleague or someone in your network who you know would benefit from listening to these episodes. Every once in a while, I like to take some time out to reflect and consider life lessons that I've learned. Even amongst some of the most difficult situations and experiences, there is always a lesson to be learned. In this solo podcast episode, I share key insights on some of the biggest life lessons I've learned.
