Hey friends! Welcome to Girls' Night! I'm so excited about today's episode. Today we're addressing one of the most common root causes of tension and resentment in marriage. The things we're talking about in this episode are so universal and so pervasive and so toxic (when left unchecked), my friends and I have been talking about this a TON in person, and that's why I'm so glad to be talking about it here on the show. Our guest for today's episode is my new friend, Paige Connell. Paige is a working mother of four who works to highlight the everyday experiences of women balancing motherhood, careers, and relationships. Known for her candid insights on the mental load of motherhood and the challenges of creating equity at home and work, Paige's content resonates with millions. And I have a feeling you'll resonate with her as well.

Let's keep it going with part two of getting more done. First, stop relying on talent—use systems. A good system does the hard work for you so you can focus on bigger things. Second, do what excites you or leads to exciting results because energy is 85% of the job. And third, write things down and prioritize them. Simple stuff, but most people ignore it. Don't be that person. Let's get into it. Show Notes: [02:35]#4 Operating by systems and not by talent. [11:19]#5 Do things you're excited about or that produce exciting results. [17:24]#6 Write down everything you need to get done then prioritize what is the most important thing. This may be a funny or strange question to ask because we are talking about God who knows and sees all things as they truly are, and we are NOT equal with God. We can not see what God sees unless He shows us. So, of course we do not see the same thing. Some times we see ourselves more highly than we ought too (or sometimes less than we ought too). in order for us to really see what God sees we have to see ourselves through His Word. He will show us exactly how He sees us in Christ (thats one way) and what He sees of our flesh and will help us to make any neccessary changes. Are you willing to see yourself the way God see you? I am...Tune in for more.

Do you feel empty inside? Are you always striving for happiness and never seem to find it? In today's message, Pastor Ricky teaches us that those who thirst for something more can find living water in the person of Jesus Christ. Those who drink of the Lord will never thirst again. God, the author of life itself, is able to feed our hungry souls with His truth and love. Through the power of His resurrection, Christians can know without a doubt that they have eternal life with God their maker.
Where do we find life fulfilling joy? Sustained joy doesn't come from houses, careers, or earthly relationships. These things while blessings can only buy us temporary happiness. They can't sustain us in difficult seasons. In today's message, Pastor Ricky teaches us that true joy comes through a relationship with Jesus Christ. God is the one that can give us peace in the midst of the storm, love when we feel rejected or unlovable, and comfort and joy even in seasons of trial and pain.

To tolerate is to allow the existence, occurrence, or practice of something that one does not necessarily like or agree without interference. This class is about taking ownership, or taking responsibility for your circumstances, even if you are not responsible for its creation. It revolves around the whole "Work On Your Game" framework. Everything that we do here at "Work On Your Game" is centered around this concept. So today, we're just going to delve deeper. Show notes: [09:04]#1 Standards - what is okay and what is not. Courtney Carver of Be More With Less shares some lessons she's learned from wearing the same things over and over. Episode 2979: 7 Things I've Learned By Wearing The Same Things Over And Over Again by Courtney Carver of Be More With Less Courtney Carver was stopped in her tracks with a scary MS diagnosis after decades of debt, discontent, and trying to do it all. She had to slow down, prioritize her health, and figure out what was really important in her life. She discovered what mattered most by getting rid of everything that didn't matter at all. In the end it all came down to love and health. She went from a busy, overwhelmed advertising director to spending 2-3 hours every morning taking care of herself, loving her work, and being present and engaged with the people she loves. Her family changed, too. They moved from wanting bigger closets, nicer furniture, and more stuff to downsizing into a 750 sq. ft apartment with no storage. Courtney has written books, courses, and hundreds of articles to help you simplify your life and work so you can focus on what really matters. Discover how minimizing clothing choices leads to greater happiness, less concern about others' opinions, and more mental energy for creativity and important decisions. The episode illuminates how a simple wardrobe can be a gateway to a simpler, more fulfilling life. Read along with the original article(s) here: https://bemorewithless.com/wearing-the-same-things/ Quotes to ponder: "I need way less than I think to be happy. The more I had, the more I wanted. It seemed like my clothes needed more clothes. [...] When I applied this to the rest of my life, I finally realized I had enough and that I was enough." "No one cares what I'm wearing. [...] Now when I'm making decisions about how I want to live my life, or do my work, I can do what's best for me regardless of opinions that might not be supportive. I've also realized that other people's thoughts about me aren't really about me. They are about them." "Deciding what to wear requires mental energy better spent on other things. [...] Now, in curating a small capsule wardrobe, there are no daily decisions required. I get to wear my favorite things every day. I streamline other decisions too so when it comes to being creative and making the big choices, I have energy and clarity." Discover how minimizing clothing choices leads to greater happiness, less concern about others' opinions, and more mental energy for creativity and important decisions. I streamline other decisions too so when it comes to being creative and making the big choices, I have energy and clarity." They help you achieve more in less time. While variety is good, routines provide structure. Modern distractions, like smartphones, can derail routines, so mastering focus is crucial. Routines make difficult tasks seem easy, and consistency is key for professional and personal success. In a nutshell, routines are powerful for improving your life, maintaining focus, and achieving your goals. Show notes: [07:31]#1 Same things, the same way every time. Main Idea: Relationships change over time because people change over time, and it's important to learn how to discern the moments in which you need to hold on to them or let go. Everybody goes through different things in life that change how they see themselves and the world around them. These life changes affect nearly all of our relationships, especially the ones most important to us. It's in these moments that we have to learn how to accept the fact that people change and decide whether or not we should continue to foster the relationships between us. In this message, we are going to unpack the evolving nature of people and relationships so that we can better understand the moments in which people change. We're going to learn how to practically analyze these different relationships to determine how to handle them. And we're going to look at these relationship changes through a spiritual lens in order to capture the idea of hidden potential. The reason that this topic is so important is because while we all go through these kinds of changes in our relationships, we often feel confused as to what to do and we don't know when to let go or hold on. So many great and meaningful relationships are let go of that were still good, and so many sour and toxic relationships are held onto unnecessarily. — 1. They Changed [NO RELATIONSHIP IS MEANT TO STAY THE SAME FOREVER] No relationship is exactly the same over time, and they're not supposed to be. Some will develop and grow while others will become stagnant and stink. No matter the Relationship types: parental, sibling, friend, romantic, marital, spiritual, authoritative, etc. We must come to a realization that “changing” is a part of life and should be expected. If we don't adapt to the changes within the relationships we have, then we will grow increasingly disappointed and frustrated as our unrealistic expectations continue to grow farther away from reality John 13:21-25; Acts of the Apostles 9:26 — 2. Fair Expectations [COMMITMENT IS GREATER THAN COMPATIBILITY] There is just something spiritual about these specific relationships. The Bible talks so specifically to each of these roles and relationships and how to foster them. I think that it does so because of how incredibly meaningful these specific ones are to our lives. So we should learn how to accept the changes that they go through and let go of certain false expectations of them so that we can appreciate what we do have with them rather than being bitter at what we don't have with them. Ephesians 6:1-4; Ephesians 5:22-29 — 3. Be Open Minded [YOU CAN'T GRASP WHAT'S IN THE FUTURE IF YOU DON'T LET GO OF THE PAST] We must keep an open mind about the relationships we have and don't have with people. Simply put, sweet things can turn sour and sour things can turn sweet. We become so tunnel visioned with certain relationships that we forget that there are a lot of people in the world. We convince ourselves of truly silly ideas like, “I'll never find anyone like them again” when it's simply not true. You may even find someone who is even better for you!
