You've heard the guys talk about 'con-artists' and 'clever criminals' before, but do some ne'er-do-wells take their exploits to a new, 'sophisticated', level? On the latest episode of 4Thirty, Ben and Pat skirt the law as they perpetrate yet another discussion centered on the world of crime, this time targeting 'sophisticated' criminals operating way ahead of their time. The guys also break down their latest dose of news headlines this week, while also sharing a few stories and making some wildly inaccurate NFL predictions in the process. Was an IBM copy machine reconfigured into one of the most sophisticated amateur bombs ever created? Did a 'cryptobro' swindle away billions from the rich and famous? Is Ancient Egypt the scene of the crime for the greatest grave robberies in human history? Did the infamous Sandworms of the 'Dune' novels once actually crawl our planet? For answers to these questions and many more, please give our latest episode of 4Thirty in the Morning a listen!
Mongolian Death Worm. Enough said, right? So come, sit a spell.
Immediately following Hollywood's Biggest Night, Andrew & special guest David Long aka The Duke of Bettingham get into everything about the 97th Academy Awards including Anora's historic wins, Conan O'Brien's hosting, Sandworms, and much, much more!

Solar Probe, Beach Waves, UFOs, Extrinsic memory, Sand Worms, and crossed eyes.
In the small, isolated Nevada town of Perfection, two aimless handymen Val (Kevin Bacon) and Earl (Fred Ward) were just minding their own business working their latest gig when they suddenly discover strange things occurring....including the inexplicable death of some one who has hidden way up on a light pole in the middle of nowhere. What were they afraid of....something on the ground....or underground perhaps? :o Well as it turns out, this town has been invaded by large, strange creatures travelling underground....and what results is a wild adventure which might be described as "Jaws on Land." Ron Underwood (City Slickers, Heart and Souls) directed this now beloved cult classic which first under-performed in theaters back in 1990 but has since spawned several sequels and even a TV spin-off. It also starred Michael Gross, Reba McEntire, Finn Carter, Victor Wong, and....some very nasty sand-worms?Host & Editor: Geoff GershonProducer: Marlene GershonSend us a texthttps://livingforthecinema.com/Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/Living-for-the-Cinema-Podcast-101167838847578Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/livingforthecinema/Letterboxd:https://letterboxd.com/Living4Cinema/

Say his name three times and he will appear. With his unruly green hair, pinstripe suit and unusual mannerisms, the malicious spirit became a film icon. But before the dark comedy premiered the studio and half of the cast weren't exactly convinced that audiences would be willing to take the wild ride about a bio-exorcist. The original script was vastly different, offering a darker and more deadly take before humor was eventually (and successfully) sprinkled in during production. The unique blend of absurdity and alarm proved to be the perfect mix, with this 80s Flick becoming a surprise hit at the box office, spawning a hit animated series, winning an Oscar, and becoming a Broadway musical. So take a trip with us back to Winter River Connecticut, grab your copy of the “Handbook for the Recently Deceased”, and watch out for the Sandworms as Tim Williams and guest co-hosts Laramy Wells & Bethany Wells discuss “Beetlejuice” from 1988 on this episode of the 80s Flick Flashback Podcast. Here are some additional behind-the-scenes trivia we were unable to cover in this episode: Tom Duffield said "The scene with Alec Baldwin, where Geena's standing with his head in her hand, he was just kneeling behind a black show card that was cut around his chin. Look closely, it's all done on camera. It was real quick cut, but that's all it was." The epilogue featuring Beetlejuice and the witch doctor was added during post-production. Another version of the ending showed Beetlejuice in the waiting room with the barber who welcomed Adam at the beginning of the movie (supposedly after he had died), and the barber's rambling drove Beetlejuice crazy. As few mortals can consume media at Tod's pace this week the Regular Joes take a SPOILER FREE pass at two recent film that two of the three have seen. First is Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire the newest entry in the recently resuscitated 1980's franchise. Next is Dune Part II, the somewhat more honestly titled, follow up to Dune (2021). But first, they address the alien in the room. Three Body Problem, the novel by Chinese author, Liu Cixin, was considered by many to be unadaptable for film or TV. Despite this, there are actually two adaptations, a Chinese made version, Three Body (2023), spanning 30 episodes that you can stream on Peacock, and the far more approachable 8 episode version that is at the top of the Netflix charts this week. Created in part by David Benioff and D. B. Weiss, the duo behind Game of Thrones (for better or worse) this epic story may prove every bit as challenging to scale down to the small screen … but, three episodes in, it's pretty good. There's also the usual Random Topics and yet another round of What's in the Box. Thanks for listening!
This week, we finally discuss the release and reception of Dune: Part Two, directed by Denis Villeneuve. After a delayed release and somewhat botched streaming strategy with the last film, Warner Bros. gave the sci-fi epic another chance to spice up the box office. But does Dune: Part Two fulfill the prophecy of that last film and Frank Herbert's 1965 novel? Dune: Part Two opened in theaters on March 1. It was directed by Denis Villeneuve, who co-wrote the screenplay with Jon Spaights. The film stars Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Dave Bautista, Stellan Skarsgård, Charlotte Rampling, and Javier Bardem, Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, Christopher Walken, Léa Seydoux, and Souheila Yacoub. We watched DUNE: PART TWO, so we have to talk about it! Also, we've decided to take an unedited approach to the show. If you like it, let us know. If you hate it, let us know! What we're geeking this week PlayStation Portal Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core Delicious in Dungeon (Netflix) AI-Generated Show Summary The episode begins with host Dave Clements greeting the audience and joking about a beeping noise that startled him. His co-host, David Hunt, chimes in, albeit a bit awkwardly, realizing the limitations of podcasting—namely, that the audience can't respond to his queries. Dave Clements is going through the keto diet again and is struggling with cravings, particularly when seeing foods he can't have because of his diet. David Hunt sympathizes, noting how difficult it is to diet with children at home who aren't following the same eating plan. The conversation shifts to what the hosts have been up to. David Hunt shares his experience playing Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core and talks about his new PlayStation Portal, which allows him to play when the TV is occupied by his child. Dave has returned to rotating streaming services, settling on Netflix with ads to save some money. He mentions a new anime he's watching, "Delicious in Dungeon," which combines elements of Dungeons and Dragons and food—a recommendation he makes despite the challenge of starting keto. Their talk turns toward Netflix streaming, with Dave Clements expressing his frustration over rewatching shows when his preference leans toward new content. The two friends joke about their partners rewatching their favorite shows on streaming services. The conversation then leads into the main topic of the episode: a review of Denis Villeneuve's Dune films. Both hosts disclose their lack of exposure to the Dune universe before the recent films. Dave attempted to watch the 1984 version by David Lynch but couldn't get into it. David Hunt hadn't seen the earlier film, mini-series, or read the book, and his knowledge was primarily through secondary sources like the Sci-Fi Christian podcast. Approaching Villeneuve's "Dune Part One," both hosts were excited. David Hunt hadn't seen it in theaters due to life getting in the way but caught up on the first film right before the second one was released. Dave watched Dune as soon as it came out on HBO Max, but it took a few tries to get through it without falling asleep. Dave discusses the grand visuals and designs of the movie and the use of practical effects. David Hunt expresses that watching the second movie helped him better appreciate the first one, as they should be watched as a single entity. Both hosts find the movie visually stunning and well-acted but admit the storyline was dense and at times hard to follow. Turning the discussion to "Dune Part Two," Dave says he enjoyed Paul's character more this time because of his character arc. However, he struggled with understanding some of Paul's motivations and actions. He appreciated Zendaya's character and was impressed by a big twist in the film involving Paul's mother. Dave mentions being impressed by the sandworms, sharing a piece of trivia about the failed attempt to utilize practical effects for a riding scene ultimately generated digitally. He's intrigued by the larger universe and is open to exploring more of it. Before closing the episode, the hosts invite their audience to send feedback and content suggestions. They address that previous episodes can be found on the podcast website and hint at re-releasing earlier content. The hosts express their love for engaging with their listeners and mention potential future series on other movie franchises. The episode ends with the hosts bidding farewell until the next episode.

The Dune books by Frank Herbert are widely said to be impossible to make into movies or shows. However, a few have tried and the latest is director Denis Villeneuve with, first, his Dune Part One film in 2021 and now Dune Part Two. Overwhelmingly, the consensus is that Villeneuve succeeded beautifully with his first Dune film in introducing movie audiences to the world of Dune. Now we get his Part Two which continues the story of Paul Atreides, who is royalty, but also could be the most powerful being in the entire universe someday. What will he do with this power? Will he engage in good to help out the people of the universe or will his power end up killing billions of people? Dune is also about Paul's alliance with the people of the planet Arrakis, known as the Fremen. We also see his battle against his enemies, the Harkonnens and the Emperor. Is Dune Part Two entertaining as it tells this complex, twisted tale? Check out this show to find out. Dune Part Two stars Timothee Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin, Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, Dave Bautista, Christopher Walken, Lea Seydoux, Stellan Skarsgard and Charlotte Rampling.
