I said program 341, but this is 442 of the Sunday show. For this program, I got to hearing something in one of the tracks in automation on my server and thought, "Hmm, I should spotlight it." It's always a good day when we get a new mix from Paul Asbury Seaman. Not only because it will be a well thought out collection of tunes but also because that collection is different than what I crank out every week. So it's a nice change of pace and good exposure to new artists and styles. Here is what Paul says about this new mix: “Seventh entry in my ‘Mystical Ambience' series, I think this is one of my most spiritual mixes to date. There's a lot to be sorrowful about these days. We need solace and, just as important, the courage—and grace— to have hope. The program begins with Ladd Allen Doane's sweet sequencer pattern juxtaposed with slightly dissonant base chords, emphasizing the tension between what we long for and what we actually see and experience. The rest of the set settles into a contemplative tone suitable for meditation and going-to-sleep music. Recently I was re-listening to Scott Lawlor's ‘Seven Last Words' album (2019) and, while I didn't end up using it here (too long), ‘The Third Word' from that album was so achingly beautiful it prompted me to get moving on this mix. Thank you to Seb Taylor for his new Kaya Project album, from which this mix takes its title. (Cover image: ‘Stellar Sorrow' by haidermah, Pixabay.com.)" Thanks, Paul, for another excellent musical journey. Cheers! AT THE NADIR OF WINTER, the time of deepest cold and lowest natural activity, the sound of the resonant percussion family of instruments takes on an uncanny appeal. The metallophones—bells, bowls, gongs, chimes, and cymbals—speak eloquently in the chilled, quiet air. Bells have been with us for over four thousand years. Besides everyday functions like sounding the time, they've played an essential role in religious ceremonies around the world. For hundreds of years, Christian churches used them for both. More recently, metallic and quartz crystal bells, bowls, and gongs have become central to Sound Healing and group meditation practices, as well as personal rituals. Simple, relatively inexpensive, powerful tools for creating sacred space, bells are adapting to the changes in religion and personal spirituality. On this transmission of HEARTS of SPACE, a meditative journey for resonant percussion, on a program called WINTERTONES 3. Music is by SHAWN FEENEY, SCOTT LAWLOR, TRYSHE DHEVNEY, 33 BOWLS, and featuring veteran San Francisco bell ringer KARMA MOFFETT. The transition from 'electric' to 'electronic' was one of the great technical achievements of the 20th century. Electronic engineering emerged out of the telephone, radio, film and television industries, and military communication and weapon systems during World War II. The earliest devices for creating electronic music actually date from the end of the 19th century. By the 1920s and 30s we had compact, playable electronic instruments like the Russian Theremin, the French Ondes Martenot, and the German Trautonium. Development of recording technology led to experimentation with record players and tape recorders to manipulate sound and create new kinds of music. Electronic music expanded exponentially in the 1960s and 70s with the arrival of practical electronic synthesizers, fueling an era of explosive creativity. Today electronic music extends from mainstream dance music to experimental noise, with literally thousands of sub-genres, and an unlimited palette of sounds and creative possibilities. On this transmission of Hearts of Space, a journey in the infinite tone-worlds of electronic space, on a program called ELECTRONIC DIMENSIONS. Music is by FOURTH DIMENSION, BLUETECH, ESKOSTATIC, BETWEEN INTERVAL, SCOTT LAWLOR, and ALPHA WAVE MOVEMENT. [ view program page ] [ view Flickr image gallery ] [ play 30 second MP3 promo ]

BELLS, BOWLS, and GONGS — charter members of the struck idiophone family of resonant percussion. BELLS originated in Neolithic China in the 3rd millennium BC. They were made of bronze, glass, ceramic, or minerals like quartz with a crystalline molecular structure. When formed into a circular cup shape and struck, bells produce a pitched tone and harmonics, which fade away slowly. Mechanical resonance gives bells their characteristic ringing sound. GONGS are another member of the resonant percussion family from East and Southeast Asia. Suspended gongs are flat circles that produce clouds of sound without a central pitch; bossed gongs have a raised center, and are tuned to produce pitched tones. BOWLS or more accurately bowl gongs, are both; they start as a flat circle like a gong, and are then bent into a bowl shape like a bell. They also produce a pitched tone and are often called singing bowls. So much for the physics — the real mystery is the metaphysics. For millennia, these simple instruments have been used for ritual and ceremony, religious services, meditation and contemplative experience. Today there's a quiet boom in subtle, psychoactive sound, with hundreds of dedicated artists creating "deep listening" concerts, "sound baths," and recordings. On this transmission of Hearts of Space, the wintry tones of bells, bowls and gongs, on a program called MYSTIC METALS 2. Music is by JARGUNA, HANS CHRISTIAN, KARMA MOFFET, SATORIO, SHAWN FEENEY, SCOTT LAWLOR, and THE LOVELY MOON. [ view playlist ] [ view Flickr image gallery ] [ play 30 second MP3 promo ]

Scott Lawlor reached out to me to start a conversation, and after hearing his story, I was anxious to get his story on the podcast. He is part of numerous collaborations, does live performances (including his "isolation concerts" during this COVID lockdown) - but my bell was rung when he mentioned that he'd done around 250 releases. 250 releases! I had to learn more... It turns out that Scott's work is really flow-oriented, and that he is able to drop into 'recording mode' really quickly. He also really enjoys long-form recording, so much of his work greatly exceeds the EP/LP-length work we've come to understand. He also fluidly moves from genre to genre, one day working on New Age piano pieces, the next day doing experimental noise pieces. Talking with Scott about his recording efficiency, style morphing and music-life balance opened some real perceptual doors for me. Check out his work here - https://scottlawlor.bandcamp.com/music - as well as on many netlabels. You can also check out his Isolation Sets on his YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgabrCpbhSheucDCf3V3Q1g Enjoy! Scott Lawlor is an ambient artist who has been recording since 2013. His music has been described as celestial, evocative, and penetrating. After the tragic loss of his brother in 2017, he needed an exploratory way to move through the grief. As a result, his music subtly changed and became more heart-centered, exploring the emotions of love and loss as well as the profound connection between our world and that of the spirit. Welcome to broadcast 204 of the Independent artist show. My name is Jared Rimer, and we've got a packed show for you. Studio4632, a net label on Bandcamp, recently lost their founder Candy L. In her memory, the community recently released an album entitled A Last Sunset- A Celebration of Candy Lozier- Volume 1. We're also going to play an album entitled Scenes From A Forest which was done by Cousin Silas with her. Also, in the forgotten category, Scott Lawlor released a hidden gem that he found and released this year. A Process of Transformation is in between two albums, and the album is three tracks long. "Scott Lawlor returns to eM with a deeply personal album about love and loss. The work herein is Scott at his absolute finest, and is best described by the artist himself. "The idea that something is dying needs to be investigated to see what it is. It is not we who are really dying but only the false self that is experiencing the end of its illusory view of life — our personal, homemade self, which has been the object of our efforts and is secretly present in virtually all of our good deeds." This is only a portion of the notations themselves. Click on the link where you can read, and buy this album. Included is also a PDF file with pictures and notes within it as well. We're also going to have some other music by a wide range of artists as well. The Last Sunset album is 3 hours alone, so there is no way we're going to feature every track. Here is the Email I received through Scott Lawlor. "Hi friends and fans. Please forgive the above average communications lately but I wanted to bring an album to your attention, one that I have a track on, but, more importantly than that, a collection of tracks that honors the memory of Candy Lozier who passed on from this world in September. As a lot of you know, she was a great supporter of the music community, owner of studio4632.bandcamp.com and a terrific composer and improviser in her own right." There are 296 releases on this label, check them out and support the work of this label. Underneath that, is the link which we've linked above. We can't forget Keith Hinton who submitted two tracks to us as well. We sent him everything we've got, and he has been in communication with the network by Twitter direct message. Thanks Keith for the music, and for communicating with us. I hope you'll enjoy today's program and thanks so much for listening! For the playlist, go to our blog as posting it here will cut it quite close to character limits. I'll also have them on this blog which is my personal blog as well. Thanks for listening!

In this episode of The TruthSeekah Podcast TruthSeekah is joined by musician Scott Lawlor who speaks about the power of music and his fascinations with NDEs (Near Death Experiences). I received an email from Scott Lawlor after he heard my interview with Nancy Rynes about her near-death experience. He sent me the email and asked if I was looking for any guest and if so he would love to come on. I checked out his music and loved what he was bringing to the table so we booked it. Scott put out a album dedicated to Nancy's story entitled Soul Journey. At time we book the interview I did not know that he was blind until he came on for the episode. I asked Scott a question that he says is a huge misconception about blind people. I asked him if being blind does it increase his other five senses? I've heard many people say that if you are blind then your sense of sound would be so much greater than those who have all their senses. When I ask Scott this, his answer was no, it's the same as everyone else's. Many people who were listening live in the chat could not believe it because they had seen those documentaries and heard about that is well. Someone in the chat said that maybe he does have an increase in those senses and just doesn't know it because it comes natural to him and that very well could be. Many people with spiritual abilities are able to see into the spirit with the use of their imagination early on don't feel like they have something special just because it comes very natural to them almost as second nature. I really enjoy Scott's music and as a musician myself got to ask him some questions about composing as well.
