Andrew is a Sydney, Australia based photographer. He started an interview based podcast 12 years ago and now podcasting is what he spends most of his time doing, his wife runs the photography guests. In that time he has spoken to over 600 guests. He finds that the listeners get the most from listening to the average photographer working hard in their business. But he has spoken to some very famous photographers including Ben Chrisman, Gable Clintop, Gable Peterson, Sue Bryce. Andrew says he used to be part of the AIPP going to conferences and learning a lot. He was also an avid podcast listener and wondered why there weren't podcasts where you can learn the things you do at these conferences. So he set one up where you could. Sam asks about the photography industry. Andrew says its very similar the world over. You get out what you put in. You can make a great living and a great life, but you have to put in the time and work to make this happen. Sam asks time and work doing what. Andrew says everything in the business. Accounts, marketing, HR sales. Marcus says that marketing is so much more important than it ever was. Andrew says most people focus too much on getting more leads rather then working more on educating and converting those leads. So Andrew says it is important to ensure that you focus on how you convert leads into customers. Andrew says he was talking to a dog photographer who generated 150 leads at a dog show, but he is struggling to convert them. Unless he gets that proves sorted then then the show will be a waste of time. Andrew says he needs to work on a script, that doesn't sound scripted to talk through on the phone. To move them from a lead to a customer. Marcus moves onto problems photographers have. Andrew says many photographers count themselves as natural light photographers. Andrew thinks photographers using natural light only are often under skilled and lead to learn more about lighting. There is a show about lighting which you can find here. Marcus says you have so much more confidence having a full understanding of lighting. Sam asks what photographers should do to learn more about lighting. Andrew says Youtube tutorials are the simplest place to start. But then people also like teaching in person and getting some tuition from a photographer who offers training. The other thing is to simply get some lights and get out there and try them. Marcus asks about marginal gains that photographers could do in their business. Andrew says optimising your price list to allow your clients to spend more is a good thing to do. He talked to Sarah Louise Jackson a  photographer in Melbourne. Her pricing was setup to persuade customers to move up to the next level. Tony Tafe a headshot photographer in the US changed prices for headshot photographers in the US and made it easier for customers to spend more.   Sam asks if there is anything he has learnt from guests on his podcasts recently. He says he was talking to a family photographer who at the end of the season has an exhibition showing 1 shot from each photoshoot she has done. And everyone in the exhibition comes, brings their family and friends and she sells lots more photoshoots at the exhibition. He says for commercial photographers LinkedIn is very important and Jeff Brown is an expert on this, you can listen to the show with him here. Andrew says the technique Jeff uses on LinkedIn is to alternate business and personal posts. People interact with the personal post which then helps to boost his business posts. You can find Andrew and his Podcast here.

Send us a Text Message."I never thought of my work as a business. I was a freelancer..."For generations creatives were taught that you had a side gig to pay you so you can make the work you wanted to make on the side, and that simply isnt the case any longer. From educators like Cat Ford-Coates and Sue Bryce portrait photographers are learning that their work IS valuable.Jana was a street photographer for years and then in 2014 decided she wanted to learn more about studio lighting and dove into a personal project with the transgender community that, by all standards became wildly successful and her work toured for six years. It was in this space that she discovered the transformational power of portrait and never looked back. A lifelong student discovering again and again that part of the creative process is yes, about what you want to create but also what you want to share with the world. Uncovering the things in the world she didn't understand and finding answers through her camera was the way she chose to connect more deeply with the world around her.Her father greatly influenced her perspective through his writing. As a famous writer his philosophy was to create work that you want to create and shaping that work to have meaning for others, and it is this philosophy that has shaped how Jana has shown up in her multiple iterations as a professor, as a street photographer, a documentary photographer, and a portrait photographer.Jana moved on from her ten year chapter in representing the transgender community through her portrait project and was inspired to photograph women and at an exhibition, one of her clients in attendance saw her image hanging, 30x40", and began to cry. Confused, Jana asked why and if she was ok and the client's response through her tears was "You captured the woman I've always wanted to be seen as, but didn't think the world saw..." and Jana rediscovered how her work had value and impact for others, again.Photography is powerful both personally and professionally and is no longer relegated to photojournalism but for everyday people's lives. To find Jana: website: https://www.janamarcus.com/instagram: https://www.instagram.com/jmarcusphoto/Full conversation on YT here: https://youtu.be/JDHae99v4DM Are you a Photographer? In this powerful conversation, Sue Bryce and Kemi Nekvapil discuss the power of asking and the impact it can have on our lives. They explore the vulnerability of writing and speaking, the fear and importance of setting boundaries, and the reasons why women often struggle to ask for what they need and want. Kemi shares her insights from her book 'Power' and emphasizes the belief that everyone is worthy of asking. The conversation concludes with a manifesto of asking, highlighting the various areas in life where we can practice asking for more, setting boundaries, and expressing our needs and desires. Kemi shares her experience of being fostered by white families and feeling the need to be a “good black girl” in order to be accepted. This fear of asking for help or support carried into her adult life, leading to feelings of overwhelm and isolation. Kemi emphasizes the importance of vulnerability and letting others in, as well as the power of asking for help. She also highlights the impact of not asking and taking ownership of our own actions and choices. Ultimately, Kemi encourages creating a world where women can show up unapologetically and empower others. Topics Why women often struggle to ask for what they truly want and how it impacts our lives The fear of asking can stem from past experiences and the need to be accepted or approved of. Kemi shares her personal experiences being a black child being fostered by white families and how this affected her life  Vulnerability is necessary for building connections and allowing others to support us. How we can start asking for what we truly desire to make positive changes in our life By not asking for help or support, we may unintentionally take away others' agency and prevent them from stepping into their own power. Taking ownership of our actions and choices is essential for personal growth and creating positive change. Asking for what we want and need opens doors and allows us to receive what is meant for us.

Experience the raw power of vocalizing your truth, speaking it into existence, and feeling its resonance. After leaving CreativeLive, Craig has become the secret weapon behind course creators and business owners such as Sue Bryce, Susan Stripling, and Kaisa Keranen by helping them into the multi-million-dollar mark and even acquisition! Craig is also the board chair of the Seattle Entrepreneurs Organization Accelerator. I've always loved digital assets as a business model. An entrepreneur can take their expertise in an area and have the ultimately scalability with a digital product, course, etc. And Craig has perfected the model. I am excited to get into all of this with him and to share all of his wisdom and experience from his incredible entrepreneur journey. www.CraigSwanson.org Follow Craig on LinkedIn Craig started his first business after dropping out of college providing IT services to graphic design companies in Seattle. He did this for 25 years. And then he spun off an internal project which was Creative Live and built it up to massive success. He left there in 2016 and started what he does now - a small investment and incubator company with a fund that invests in and partners with a select few online creators per year to build niche platforms. He also serves his role in EO and is part of their accelerator program. Talk to us about building a digital business. What should we know? People hold their ideas so precious that they don't get them out in the market. What drives the success of a digital product is the market that has area need that your solution addresses. It's not about how good you look or how well you present it. It's about the market first. How does someone identify the market and see if there is a fit? How do you test the market? Create a digital version of something that someone is teaching in person to groups of 10-200+ and has a track record of success. If it works for small groups of people, then you can create a digital version to scale. At the 9 min mark, Craig gives an example of how they test a market with a client. It's best to just listen. Which type of product makes the best digital business? It is something that you create once and can continue to sell. A recorded video training program is the classic digital good and a good product. Additionally, digital downloads specific to industries, etc. What is the process you go through to build the business around the product? The first step is a prototype with a core test audience. (1-10 people that will buy) With your first batch, you are relying on your existing relationships/contacts. After success with the protype, you then build a strategy to get your first 100 sales using success stories from you first group and partnering to get in front of other audiences. Once you serve more than 100 people and prove the product, then you can get to paid advertising and scale. Craig will give out free content to get people into the funnel and fold. What are the best ways to market and sell a digital business? It is different for each product and different for different stages. Mediums will vary and you probably already have a medium where you get the most engagement and community. If you are starting from scratch, it is tougher. You must create an awareness and some sort of following before creating a digital product. What are some ways to build an audience from scratch? A niche email newsletter that goes out as broadly as possible. How do you grow an email list? Find a small community that you can really serve. Once you get some subscribers, ask for them to share it. Go where your market is (Facebook groups, communities, etc. that you can serve and help). Stick to a narrow niche. How do you build a personal brand the right way? The first step is to become clear who you are servicing and audience and speak to that audience. Don't approach your brand from a self-centric stance. The purpose of a personal brand is to connect with and draw in your ideal audience. Building a brand telling the stories and highlighting what those in your audience are doing to succeed is a great way to build it. There are 2 fundamental ways to build a brand: Either a student or an expert. You can position yourself as an expert learner and share what you are learning as you grow in the topic. People can follow and gain from your experience. As an expert, you can focus on delivering expertise to a community. 4 elements to scale any business? Scaling a business is when it starts to grow exponentially and can sustain that growth. The first step is to take something that is already successful with an audience and finding out why it has been so successful. Then you use the stories of success and their words to share why something is working. Next is to create a 2-step purchase process in which you have an entry level product from $10-$99 that covers the cost to acquire customers. The 4th step is to convert the customers into the larger more expensive product. Any tips on how to create the value ladder? A lot of work goes into finding the right combination of offering and price that will scale. At the 36 min mark, Craig gives an example of how they do this… “A lot of people in business become so fixated on the thing they have built that they want to sell that they stop listening to what the market is telling them that the market really wants.” You need an awareness to this. What are the traits of good, high performing businesses vs. those that underperform? The difference is in the way they think. A lot of less seasoned businesses entirely fixated on how to make the existing business model more profitable. They are looking for the magic secret that lets them grow. More mature businesses have found that they have to let go of their original offering or change it to make it the best to grow and scale per what the market wants. Smaller businesses “swell” their business instead of scaling their business. Scaling businesses tend to be simpler with a clear focus on just 1-2 products/solutions and build the machine around them to infinitely scale. At the 42 min mark, Craig and I talk about how businesses are much like life as they grow and gain experience. Don't be afraid to kill ideas and let go of legacy things in your business. From your journey, what do you feel are you most important and impactful lessons you've learned? Letting go of control and learning to trust partners. Build partnerships that work and commit to them to make them go. Have a clear mission. Co-build and co-create.   Best Quote: A lot of people in business become so fixated on the thing they have built that they want to sell that they stop listening to what the market is telling them that the market really wants   Craig's Misfit 3: Be clear on what is negotiable and non-negotiable about your brand. L et go of negotiable elements and stand firm on non-negotiable. If something is worth doing, it is worth doing poorly. You get better as you go. Sue Bryce and I are guests on John Warrillow's Built to Sell podcast! I've been a fan of John's for years, and two of his business books Built to Sell, and The Automatic Customer have been at the top of my entrepreneurial recommendation list for years. It's an entrepreneurial bucket-list moment to have been a guest on his show. This episode is a deep dive into everything we learned during a failed due diligence process for a possible acquisition of Sue Bryce Education in 2019, and then the steps we took to rebuild the SBE business using everything we learned in that process. About one hour into the interview John asks for the specific steps we took to rebuild the business to make it something we could successfully sell. Here are the four key takeaways from that part: Assign a CEO: We needed to align our management team so instead of four partners hashing out every idea, we assigned one partner, Aaron, the responsibility of being the CEO and day-to-day operator of the business No New Projects: We agree to get good at saying no. We realized we had wandered off into a variety of pet projects which sucked cash and attention out of the core business. Instead, we decided to say no to all new ideas and focus on the core business. Professionalize sales and marketing: We made some key hires in the areas of sales and marketing and built a sales process that no longer required Sue's involvement Empower a new voice: We launched a new podcast featuring success stories of photographers in their community. Sue would have been the natural choice to host the show, but we knew that would undermine the ability to sell the company so we invited one of Sue's most-trusted protege Nikki Closser to be the new voice of SBE. The changes worked. Two years after turning down a reduced initial offer, the Sue Bryce partners completed a successful acquisition of Sue Bryce Education by Emerald in 2021. --- Podcast: Built to Sell Radio with John Warrillow Episode: Sue Bryce & Craig Swanson - The 8-Figure Expert Website: https://builttosell.com/radio/

I think we've built up a little bit of a relationship here, ya think?  Not to the point where I think you can trust me, but enough to know that I'm going to tell you what you need to hear, not necessarily what you want to hear.   I think we've gotten to know each other at least that well.  So, I want to tell you something that some of you need to hear. This is not a competition.  It has never been.  It never will be.  This creative pursuit that we share is not a contest. It's not a zero-sum game where there are winners and losers.  It's just there.  It is what it is, as cliche as that saying has become lately. You're not going to be the next Joe Rogan or Roman Mars.  You're not going to be the next James Patterson or Neil Gaiman.   We're not the next Sue Bryce or Annie Leibowitz or Ansel Adams. We won't be the next Casey Neistat or Peter McKinnon.   As Brother Dave Gardner used to say, "Take that one, friends.  Weigh it."    I know how this goes because I've done it.  We see the one we like, and we want to be like them.  Sure!  But here's the thing: That's easy.  That's the cheap way, the coward's way.   That's the way of people who are in it for the likes and the LOLs and the money.   I mean, you can crank out some content, don't get me wrong.  You can crank out all kinds of content that sound like someone else, stuff that's trending, and stuff that you find on YouTube that has a bajillion views on it, so you know it's gonna work for you as well.  Do you know what you're not creating?  Anything that lets people know you YOU are. If you've listened to me for any length of time, you know a few things about me.  You know I've been married for 26 years.  You know I've got three kids.  You know my parents are gone, and I've spent a lot of time examining that relationship and realizing exactly how dysfunctional it really was.  You know I have a psycho brother.  You know I tried to be in the military when I was 18, and that ended quickly.  You know I think Pink Floyd is the greatest band ever and that Roger Waters is amazing.  You know I've spent time in radio, in call centers, and at the age of 47, stumbled into a new career path as a multimedia specialist that opened many new possibilities for me.  You know coronavirus ate my job this year, and that I've been looking for work in multimedia with not a lot of success because I need qualifications I don't have.  You know that Kim and I try to shoot photography on Saturday Mornings, and it's done more for our marriage in 25 years than anything else I could name, and you know all this because *I* told you on this show or anything connected to it.  Casey fucking Neistat didn't tell you that.  Joe fucking Rogan didn't tell you that.  I shouldn't say that, I suppose.  I actually respect Casey Neistat. Study those that have succeeded, absolutely.  Gain every bit of knowledge you can from those who have done it, absolutely.   But take that knowledge and create something that is unapologetically, unmistakably, and authentically yours.  You might not be as successful, but you'll be able to point to it later and say, I made that.  That was me.   I promise you, that is WAY more fulfilling.

BPP 128: What to Work on this Winter to be a Better Photographer by Spring

The Beginner Photography Podcast

Play Episode Listen Later Dec 24, 2018 33:26

The overarching theme this month is obviously winter. The extra time we have from not shooting out in 4 feet of snow. Now maybe you are out shooting in 4ft of snow. That’s awesome and you’re stronger than me for sure. But if you’re not shooting in 4ft of snow (like me) I don’t want you to get lazy or think that you cant do anything photography related for a whole season. If you have been listening for the past 2 weeks you will know that winter is an opportunity. And I want to help you take advantage of it! So I made a little list of things you should take care of this winter to better set yourself up for success this in 2019. 1: Your Social Media I know, I can hear the collective groans from you all. But it's not as in YOU HAVE TO DO IT to be a photographer. if photography is just a hobby and you don’t share your photos you don’t have to have a FB or instagram but there are a lot of photographers out there listening right now who use both, and they do it poorly. This tip is for them. I remember when I first made my FB and insta I didn’t post a lot. I thought I could I only post new content. I could never post the same photo twice. That’s just not the case. There are no instagram cops who will close your account if you post the same photo twice. Dont do it in a row of course but if you post the same photo once a month, no one will care as they will have forgot about it from the last time you posted it. Most photographers also forget that Social media is suppose to be social. It’s not an online classified ad. Too many photographers go on and just post sales and promotions. No one wants to ONLY be sold to. Make social media social. Tell the story of how you took a photo. Why you love shooting what you do. Ask questions. Have polls. A or B? That sort of stuff. Entertain your audience. Your photos don’t speak a thousand words and they don’t need to. People are so use to aimless scrolling, give them a reason to stop. Give them a reason to interact with your posts. the life of a photo is like 6 mins on instagram. You should be posting your work a minimum of once a day. “But I don’t have time for that!” I get it social is addicting and time consuming. I cant tell you how many times Ive needed to get on FB or Instagram to check something specific like an ad and then 20 mins later forgot why I was on there. That’s why I schedule out all of my social media. So that I don’t fall behind getting lost watching everyones stories and what not. And I can also strategically curate my brand through my captions. I use a program called Planoy which lets me schedule out my instagram posts for a whole month for free. It’s integral to sharing my message without getting too distracted and start scrolling.   And if you have a Facebook business page you have the ability schedule your posts built it! 2: Organization Next thing to work on is Organization. This can be so much more than just the photos on your computer which are everywhere and in random folders names "Untitled Folder 7" But lets talk about photos first. Use a dedicated hard drive just for work files. A 1tb hard drive can be purchased for $50. Having a fresh slate makes it easier to organize. I Have a folder called RHP for my business, then inside is folders for business or photo, in photos is engagements, weddings, portraits, and personal. Then in each of those folders its broken down by year, then in each year is a list of the clients I photographed, then inside that are folders for Raw, Selected (The photos I want to edit), and Edited the completed photos. So if Im looking for a specific engagement photo I could go RHP/Photos/Engagement/2014/Chris and Sally/Edited/ Chris and Sally Engagements 125.jpg Next place to get organized is your client management if you shoot portraits. Things like keeping track of where they are in the booking process, how they heard about you, when you want to follow up. There are tons of tools out there for track the client process. I use 17 hats which Im happy with especially for the price compared to other CRMs but in all honesty, you could track a clients process for free using a tool like Trello. Trello is an application you can use on your phone or computer that lets you create Boards, in our case "Portrait clients" and then in that board you have cards. In our case each client would have their own card. In their card you can make a checklist.Respond to email with price-list, set up a meeting, send invoice, sign contract, send welcome gift, email style guide, email day before session check in info, shoot session, back up session on 3 hard drives, import into lightroom, cull photos, edit photos, export photos, upload gallery, send client their gallery, send email for a review, send follow up questionnaire, send thank you card 1 month later, send happy anniversary card 1 year later. At any point you can see where you are in the client process. You can even assign due dates so you dont forget! again that tool is called Trello. I use and love it. It’s free, check it out. 3: Service Your Gear Next thing to take care of is service your gear. You take your car in for a tuneup, you need to take your camera gear in for a tune up too. Since you wont be shooting as much here in the winter its a perfect time to send in your gear to get serviced. Canon, nikon, fuji, and sony all have programs to do just that. You just google "Canon camera service and repair" and youll find it! Its like $100 or so and your camera will come back as good as new. Honestly. It’s amazing. 4: EDUCATE YOURSELF! Lastly is you need a plan to Educate yourself! One of my favorite ways to do that is meet with other local photographers. Thats something I going to be doing this winter for sure. Getting together with other photographers lets you meet and network with other creatives who live close to you but also lets you learn new things! I can't tell you how many smalllll tips I have learned from other photographers that I never would have found online, or even knew what to look for. It does not have to be a big deal. if there is a photographer who work you like local to you, just ask to take them out for a coffee. No pressure, you just thought it would be fun to chat with another photographer in these slow months. They might say no, don't take it personally for some its just a bad time. Plus you can always join the online community of the BPP You got into photography because you want to take beautiful photos and that will be a lifelong journey. You don't just get to a point where you take beautiful photos and you stop, you keep going. Some of the worlds best photographers still attend regular photography workshops that cost thousands of dollars. Luckily because of the internet there is a ton of great info online that you can benefit from. I made a list of the 23 photography YouTube channels you should be following which you can find in the show notes for todays episode or if you google it, and that's a great start. If you want to learn more in-depth on a single topic though, I personally love to use creative live. If you don’t know, creative live is like a live online workshop. They have quite a bit on offer for photographers. Some of their most popular courses are "The Fundamentals of photography" Conquering crappy light "Lightroom CC the complete guide" and pricing and sales for photographers. Full disclosure, I am an affiliate for creative live meaning if you make a purchase through one of my links I will receive a commission. But I believe in them 100% and I hope you know I would never recommend to you something I don't believe in. Their courses are also taught by experts like Sue Bryce, Lindsay Adler, and even our own past guest Vanessa Joy! And the best part is, ITS free to watch it live! They play a course a day online which you can watch for free! And of course they have a whole back catalog of courses which you can purchase as well. For 2019 I'm making it a goal to continue my education by purchasing 1 course a month and diving in deep to really grow my skills as a photographer and more efficiently run a business. Last year I bought a course called the personal MBA, and even though it’s a video course, I could listen to it while driving. I would highly recommend you sign up for creative live. It’s free to be a member and they send promo codes to your email all the time making their paid courses even cheaper. Sign Up For A Free Creative Live Membership Now! There are hundreds if not thousands of course on creative live which can be daunting to pick one to get started for sure. So if you have any questions or want a recommendation let me know! Just ask. A couple of years ago on a dark January day, I walked into a storefront on Kings Street in Toronto with little knowledge of how transformative the contents inside would be. It was called Body Thoughts and it was a traveling art show-experience focused on creating dialogue and expanding our knowledge of how we perceive our bodies. Run by two young women, each of whom had their own body image struggles and conversations to share, Body Thoughts ended up being one of my highlights of 2016 and an experience I haven't forgotten.  Fast-forward to today and one of the founders of Body Thoughts and the creative vision behind it, Alexa Mazzarello is on the podcast today to chat about that experience, her struggles with body image and how her perception of her body has changed since taking on photography full-time.  Alexa is an insanely talented photographer, body positive creative and a friend. It's been a year in the making bringing her on the show and I'm so happy to have her on board today! Here are some things we discussed: Alexa's journey and how she launched Body Thoughts Losing her aunt and how that changed her perception of her body The power of body positivity for men and why we must not exclude them from the conversation How Body Thoughts helped shift her perspective when it comes to health How she uses her photography to help women improve their body image  The power of photography as a form of therapy and self-improvement How her perception of body diversity has changed since becoming a photographer  The one health habit she can't live without  Mentioned in this episode: Sue Bryce (website) Join The Healthy Maven Tribe to ask guest questions and to find out who will be on the show before anyone else! http://facebook.com/groups/THMTribe Please don't forget to rate + review in iTunes if you love the podcast. Nikki Closser is a Seattle and Michigan based photographer and a new mom.  She is madly in love with her work and with her baby.  Nikki always knew she would be a working mom. She knew her passion for her work would not diminish in motherhood.  However, she didn’t expect her passion for motherhood to be so strong.  She admits that while she loves her work, motherhood is magical, and she doesn’t know why she put it off for so long.   Nikki’s work photographing women is phenomenal.  I had the immense pleasure of doing a shoot with her about a year ago and felt an immediate connection to her and everything she stands for in womanhood, entrepreneurship and motherhood (even though she was only a few months pregnant when we met).  She also might love wine as much as me – so we’re basically soul mates.    The way Nikki reaches women through photography is breathtaking.  Every woman she works with is made to feel like a true supermodel.  Nikki is kind and gentle, but assertive and confident in her work, putting women at ease the moment they enter her studio.  Doing a shoot with her is an amazing life experience I would recommend to any woman.    Listen in to hear Nikki share:   Here first Mama Bear moment – just seconds after her son was born How she and her husband envisioned and created a travel lifestyle with Van How she dives deep into work and into motherhood – but doesn’t let the two converge     What she sees through her lens as she photographs a woman Why she thinks every woman deserves a lavish photoshoot and gorgeous photos of themselves   Links Mentioned: Nikki Closser: http://nikkiclosser.com/ Sue Bryce: http://suebryce.com/ Nikki on Facebook Nikki on Instagram Book: Monique in the Mango Rains SMA Ep 54: Rebecca Michi Children’s Sleep Consultant

At the Wedding & Portrait Photography International (WPPI) conference 2012 in Las Vegas, Catherine is joined by 8 industry experts and insiders to convene on the controversial subject, "Is Technology a Menace to Photography?" The luminary-studded panel featured renowned photographers such as Pulitzer Prize winner Greg Gibson, celebrity photographer and Help-Portrait creator Jeremy Cowart, reDefine host Tamara Lackey, Fast Track Photographer educator Dane Sanders, legendary wedding photographers Cliff Mautner and Jerry Ghionis, hot emerging fashion photographer Lindsay Adler, and glamour queen Sue Bryce. They engaged in a heated discussion about topics, such as the too-easy lure of technological gimmickry to smooth over lack of artistic know-how; self-education and cultivation of a unique creative vision with responsible and mindful use of technology; so-called "naive" art; the future of point-and-shoots and DSLRs in an age of camera phones; and the relevance of professional photographers over the coming decade.
