Let's celebrate. This is episode 100! My guest is Jonathan Sabbagh, Co-Founder of Journey Clinical and I talk about normalising Ketamine therapy for all, plus why PTSD can fire up your career - until you realize it is harmful to you. Since a few years I am following Jonathan and his wife and Co-Founder Myriam Barthe's great work around the idea to build a strong, decentralized network and offerings for KAP (Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy) to empower as much therapists as possible to execute the therapy. They did an incredible and successful job to make Ketamine therapy available and build a strong system in collaboration with therapists and doctors. In this episode is talk to Jonathan about: -how PTSD can give you a skyrocketing career, until you realiize your “energy” is trauma in disguise-how we both were very good in PTSD friendly jobs (banking & media) and left them because we realised our own PTSD -how Journey Clinical helps therapists to support their patients with ketamine therapy, (eventually psilocybin) if they are interested in trying and why normal “therapy” needs a strong transformation What Journey Clinical doesJourney Clinical is on a mission to transform the growing mental health crisis by accelerating the mainstream adoption of legal, evidence-based Psychedelic-Assisted Psychotherapy as the standard of care for mental health, starting with Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy. They have built a leading platform for Psychedelic-Assisted Psychotherapy in the US. They also recently announce a research collaboration agreement with Compass Pathways to inform the development of a scalable delivery and training model for COMP360 psilocybin treatment. Which means, together with Compass, they work on a future delivery model for psilocybin therapy. INFO@journeyclinical @Jonathansabbaghwww.https://www.journeyclinical.com/. Hosted on Acast. Bassam and Cat rekindle their Artist Forge connection and dig into his discovery of photography and spending a year mastering his skillsets in lighting, and posing, and upon his completion of that first year (2016) he exited his career as a VP in Aerospace. Bassam maintained a consultancy arm to stay connected in that industry for small and medium businesses but dove in headfirst in building his portrait business after assisting a friend on their photo shoot and discovering the joy that comes in photography. He was hooked on day one and hasnt looked back since! As things happen and unfold once a decision is made, Bassam rented a shared studio space, spent a year portfolio building, and made connections within the industry with Pratik Naik, Bella Kotak, Sue Bryce and more. Bassam and Cat recap the milestones of his career as a portrait photographer and then they go even deeper into challenges as a male boudoir photographer (challenges in marketing) and address the sales process to encourage larger sales. Bassam has consistently been selling his largest package (what a problem to have right?) but within this conversation he and Cat uncovered an area where he may have been leaving money on the proverbial table. Then you move to the second version, which having like a shadow, digital twin, which you have an image of what's happening, but you can monitor. But the truly digital twin is monitor and control." In this episode, I'm in conversation with Ammar Sabbagh who is the Vice President Industry and Partnership for Private Networks for Oil and Gas at Ericsson. 5G networks are a huge step forward for telecommunications, offering a step change performance boost over 4G. If you want to run an industrial-grade, resilient, and secure network for your digital devices, you need to be on 5G. Here are some of the key questions addressed in the episode: What is 5G, and why is it better than 4G? What is a private network? What kinds of problems does a private network solve? What kinds of innovations are enabled by 5G? What are some of the use cases that 5G unlocks? How do you deliver 5G networks where there are no towers? Ammar Sabbagh is a technology professional specializing in 5G private cellular networks, cloud, decentralized cloud, and IOT solutions for business and industry. Currently, Ammar serves as vice president of industry & partnership at Ericsson for energy and ports, where he leads business development and global partners management. Ammar holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from Portland State University and an MBA in Management, and has completed various executive leadership training courses, including Design Thinking for Innovation from the London Business School. AMMAR's QUOTABLE QUOTES With 4g, you're getting 100 megabits per second. With 5G you are getting one gigabit per second and even 20 gigabits pers second planned for next year or after. So 20 gig per user device. A single 5G radio station can connect over a million connected devices at one radio station. With WiFi 6, you can stream one gig, but the reliability of the Wi Fi is a concern, because Wi FI struggles to penetrate metallic structure [common] in the industry, for indoor. You can trust 5G for robotics, for autonomous gantry vehicles, for assets moving. With 5G we are not planning to replace any [SCADA] wiring. 5G [latency] operation, we are talking about 20 millisecond max. We are dropping it to one millisecond in the next version updates… But the requirements from our Oceaneering partner is only 100 millisecond. The first question we ask what are the use cases or application you want to use? And then it's a journey. It's like you start today with one thing, and later, you move to other applications as needed. If you have a worker with a mobile phone or connected, you know, worker, you will know exactly where they are. And you can communicate with them and support them during that session. We like to call it dynamic digital twin. We believe the 5g will be you know, hugely valuable, because you don't want to run all these cables connecting all these sensors to the main data center, you're just wirelessly spread them. And they're connected, and sit and analyze and collect all the data and take actions from there. Wind turbines are virtually autonomous. I mean, we connect them with cellular network, we have several references. With a cellular network, they connect the operator connect cameras and control functionality. And they remotely see what's happening on the outside and inside and adjust accordingly. first thing you need to connect the assets first and get the data. So that's we call it like static digital twin, and then you can use it for simulation. Then you move to the second version, which having like a shadow, digital twin, which you have an image of what's happening, but you can monitor. But the truly digital twin is monitor and control CONTACTING AMMAR ammar.sabbagh@ericsson.com
Brain Talk | Being Patient for Alzheimer's & dementia patients & caregivers
The key to understanding Alzheimer's disease could be in our genes. While the cause of Alzheimer's is still unknown, mounting research shows that carrying multiple copies of certain genes — like genetic variant ApoE4 — can significantly increase the likelihood of developing Alzheimer's. By studying genetics and gene therapy, scientists are learning more about how genes play a role in Alzheimer's disease and what can be done for prevention. Barrow Neurological Institute's neurologist, author, and Alzheimer's expert Dr. Marwan Sabbagh joins Being Patient to discuss how scientists are seeking to prevent Alzheimer's through genetic research. Sabbagh, a board-certified behavioral neurologist at Barrow's Alzheimer's and Memory Disorders Program and a professor at the institute's department of neurology, has served as the lead investigator on several prominent national Alzheimer's prevention and treatment clinical trials. In this talk, he'll speak about how genetic research, like that on the ApoE4 gene, can help us learn more about Alzheimer's and how it can be prevented. This Live Talk is sponsored by Alzheon.

To gain a deeper understanding into today's conflicts within the Middle East, our focus sharpens on two pivotal forces: Iran and Saudi Arabia, whose roles hold paramount significance in shaping the region's contemporary landscape. This week host Elisa revisits two key conversations from our archive. First, Dr. Roham Alvandi of the London School of Economics and Political Science discusses the shift in Iran's governing structures from the coup in 1953 to the revolution in 1979. Next, Ray Takeyh of the Council on Foreign Relations dives into the fall of the Pahlavi dynasty and how the 1979 Iranian Revolution marked a critical turning point in US-Iran relations. Brain Talk | Being Patient for Alzheimer's & dementia patients & caregivers
atching and accurately identifying a neurodegenerative disease like Alzheimer's or another form of dementia early can make all the difference in the world to a patient and their loved ones: An early diagnosis means more time to plan for the future, join a clinical trial testing cutting-edge disease-modifying treatments, making lifestyle changes to slow symptoms, or spending more time with loved ones. On the other hand, a misdiagnosis could mean that patients receive the wrong medications, causing harm — and unfortunately misdiagnoses are all too common when it comes to dementia. Why is this the case, and what can patients do about it? Neurologist, author, and Alzheimer's expert Dr. Marwan Sabbagh joins Being Patient Live Talks to discuss why dementias are so difficult to diagnose. Sabbagh, a board-certified behavioral neurologist at Barrow Neurological Institute's Alzheimer's and Memory Disorders Program and a professor at the institute's Department of Neurology, has served as the lead investigator on a number of prominent national Alzheimer's prevention and treatment clinical trials. In this talk, he'll speak to the factors that make dementia so difficult to diagnose accurately for experts and clinicians — as well as what patients and their families can do to advocate for an accurate diagnosis and a faster response to brain health concerns. Welcome back to The Trip Report Podcast, a production of Beckley Waves, a Psychedelic Venture Studio.Today, we're speaking with Jonathan Sabbagh, founder of Journey Clinical, a digital health tech company pioneering a collaborative care model for psychedelic-assisted therapy.Journey Clinical was founded in 2021 with the mission of creating a decentralized clinic model that would enable licensed therapists to incorporate ketamine-assisted therapy (KAT) into their practice.Jonathan and his co-founder (and wife) Miriam Barthes interviewed 600 therapists before starting Journey Clinical to understand their biggest pain points and challenges. When it came to KAT, a promising treatment for several mental health conditions, the overwhelming response from the therapists they interviewed was that it's difficult to find medical professionals with whom they can collaborate on care. After all, therapists do not prescribe medications, and most physicians do not do therapy. Thus, connecting therapists with partner prescribers was the core need, and with this insight, the Journey Clinical model was born.As many who are well-steeped in the psychedelic field are aware, KAT is a promising modality for stubborn mental health conditions, especially when paired with psychotherapeutic support. However, the majority of ketamine usage for mental health is as a standalone treatment at specialized clinics. What is missing from this brick-and-mortar care delivery environment is supportive wrap-around care. And in my opinion, this is the promise of technology-enabled support for psychedelic therapies.I have been a fan of the Journey Clinical model since I first met Jonathan and Miriam back in 2021. From the outset, it was clear they had a unique insight and mission. In this episode, we discuss:* Leaving a career in finance to study clinical psychology;* The role of psychotherapy in supporting transformational perspectives;* The importance of therapeutic alliance;* The origin story of Journey Clinical and the pivot from a service provider to a health tech company; and* The Ryan Haight Act Online Pharmacy Consumer Protection Act of 2008.I should also note that Beckley Waves is an investor in Journey Clinical.Listen to the episode on Substack, Spotify, Google or Apple.Credits:* Hosted by Zach Haigney * Produced by Zach Haigney, Erin Greenhouse, and Katelin Jabbari* Find us at thetripreport.com* Follow us on Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTubeTheme music by MANCHO Sounds, Mixed and Mastered by Rollin Weary This is a public episode. “What's past is prologue,” Shakespeare informed us. But what if the past is misunderstood? Or misrepresented? What if policy makers are making policies based on false historical narratives? In 1979, host Cliff May went to Iran to report on the revolution that was then underway. Cliff admits that he didn't know much about the country. But neither did most of his colleagues, reporters from around the world who had parachuted in to cover this big story. He was working on a documentary for PBS which had arranged for him to partner with an Iranian producer. So, at least the producer was knowledgeable, right? Well, yes and no.He was gung-ho for the revolution and an ardent admirer of its leader: the Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini. In other words, he was not a truth-seeking journalist but an enthusiastic propagandist. So, this turned out to be a challenging assignment for Cliff. All these many years later, Ray Takeyh – the Hasib J. Sabbagh senior fellow for Middle East studies at the Council on Foreign Relations – is trying to understand and reveal the truth about modern Iranian history. He's well suited to the task: He holds a doctorate in modern history from Oxford University and has served as a senior advisor on Iran at the State Department. He joins Cliff for today's discussion. Also joining: Reuel Marc Gerecht, a former Iranian-targets officer in the Central Intelligence Agency, currently a resident scholar at FDD.

6 Effective Ways of Heart Disease Prevention Anyone who wishes to optimize health by protecting the heart and brain must listen to this! Dr. Marwan Sabbagh and Joe Piscatella combine the six most effective principles for heart disease prevention. They unfold valuable heart and brain facts in their new book Strong Heart, Sharp Mind, which are equally beneficial for the prevention of Alzheimer's disease. In a way, they open hope for effective heart disease treatments, dealing with Alzheimer's, and other brain ailments with a multidisciplinary approach. What is good for your heart is good for your brain and ultimately contributes to your overall healthy lifestyle. This episode guides listeners to optimal well-being using a 6-Step Brain-Body Balance Program. In this discussion, he adds that the mechanism that underpins heart disease symptoms considerably overlaps with the symptoms of Alzheimer's. Therefore, aggressively managing the cures for one has two or more benefits. How Is Heart Disease The # 1 Cause Of Death Worldwide? Researchers agreed that cardiovascular arrest, high blood pressure, and cholesterol are risk factors for many other diseases like Alzheimer's. High blood pressure is one of the mechanisms overlapping Alzheimer's and heart disease symptoms, making it the most deadly disease of all time. Dr. Sabbagh believes aggressively managing cholesterol and high blood pressure might considerably help heart disease prevention through natural anti-inflammatory processes. He adds that saturated fats are bad for the brain, which triggers amyloid (an unhealthy protein in the brain), hindering ongoing heart disease treatment. Is High Blood Pressure A Contributor to Heart Disease? National Academy of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicines analyzed the whole shebang, including diet, cognitive stimulation, exercise, health conditions, etc. They came up with their thorough and expert analysis that blood pressure management, mental stimulation, and exercise were the only three things that showed sufficient evidence to recommend them in clinical practices. Several other health organizations are researching, concluding that high blood pressure management is the ultimate risk reduction strategy for the heart and brain. What Are Neurobics? Neurobics are brain exercises that aid in healthy mental activities and prevent severe diseases such as Alzheimer's and heart disease. Dr. Sabbagh suggests Neurobics as a way of simultaneously doing physical activity and cognitive stimulation. In the book, the author outlines the perfect Neurobics that can improve heart function and blood vessel health. Transforming The American Diet into A Healthful Way to Eat According to Berkeley Wellness Letter, Nutrition Actions, and Tufts Newsletter, modest dietary changes can help fight heart disease symptoms. Similarly, one fish meal a week, two berries a week, and two vegetables a day can reduce Alzheimer's disease risk. Managing Alzheimer's with A Good Sleep Regimen Sleep apnea is a huge risk for heart attacks as well as a considerable risk for cognitive decline. Quality sleep is the procedure by which your brain removes the amyloids. That's why Dr. Sabbagh refers to sleep as an easy fix to our mild cognitive illness. Exercise during the daytime, regular meal times, waking up, and going to bed are far more beneficial than sleeping pills. Also, there is a link between inadequate sleep quality, plaque building, and high blood pressure. How Stress Management Is Vital To Defeat Heart Diseases A person's mental health can positively or negatively impact their physical health, and the risk of heart failure may increase with high blood pressure. So, they refer to a phenomenon called 'hippie genetics,' which has secondary benefits in dealing with stress and reducing risks for heart disease. As said, you are more likely to be stress-free if you are physically active and socially connected, leading a healthy lifestyle. Keep your heart pumping and passions alive by knowing what is good for you. If you have people that support you and share the same bond, you are more likely to be mentally healthy. The people who practice cognitive stimulation are the people who exercise and eat right and ultimately lead a healthy lifestyle. However, it is more important to practice mental stimulation even if you have heart disease symptoms or Alzheimer's. The book gives you a great plan to follow that. This episode is brought to you by Athletic Greens and ButcherBox. For so long, we've been told that memory loss and dementia are just normal parts of aging. We now know it doesn't have to be that way, and that there are many measures we can proactively take to avoid cognitive decline as we age. Emerging research is helping us look at new ways to treat and even prevent devastating neurological diseases like Alzheimer's and dementia, giving people a newfound sense of hope. In today's episode, I talk with Dr. Marwan Sabbagh, Dr. Richard Isaacson, and Dr. Jay Lombard about the role of genetics in brain disorders, lifestyle habits you can start right now to reduce your risk or reverse symptoms, and why we need to look at bacteria as a cause of neurodegenerative disease. Dr. Marwan Sabbagh is a board-certified neurologist and considered one of the leading experts in Alzheimer's and dementia. He is on the editorial board for the Journal of Alzheimer's Disease and BMC Neurology and is now Editor-in-Chief of Neurology and Therapy. Dr. Sabbagh is the author of The Alzheimer's Answer: Reduce Your Risk and Keep Your Brain Healthy and The Alzheimer's Prevention Cookbook: 100 Recipes to Boost Brain Health. His latest book, Fighting for My Life: How to Thrive in the Shadow of Alzheimer's, is now available.Dr. Richard Isaacson serves as Director of the Center for Brain Health and Director of the Alzheimer's Prevention Clinic (APC) at Florida Atlantic University's Schmidt College of Medicine. He previously served as Director of the APC at the Weill Cornell Memory Disorders Program, Assistant Dean of Faculty Development, and Associate Professor of Neurology at Weill Cornell Medicine and New York-Presbyterian. He remains as Adjunct Associate Professor of Neurology in the Department of Neurology at Weill Cornell. Dr. Jay Lombard is an internationally acclaimed neurologist, author, and keynote speaker specializing in neuroimmunological conditions and medical mysteries. Dr. Lombard integrates biological, psychological, and existential components in his holistic treatment approach. Dr. Lombard's clinical experience revealed an interesting pattern: one patient with ALS also had small-intestine bacterial overgrowth, another had ulcerative colitis, yet another had Crohn's, and so on. He started seeing the connections between these bacterial imbalances and Clostridium difficile, or C. diff, and the link to neurological symptoms.
