Luke and Kellan Olson discuss how the Arizona Cardinals' final 53-man roster could look and which season has been more disappointing between the 2024-25 Phoenix Suns and the 2025 Arizona Diamondbacks.
Joe Kleine played basketball at a level very few people will ever play. The 7 foot tall center from Slater Missouri was a winner at every level, from high school, to college, the Olympics, and the NBA. As sportswriter Jon Goode once wrote, Kleine was never a star, but what made Kleine great was that he accepted his role and was ready to play every night. Sometimes a large part of being a legend, is making everyone else around you better. That's exactly what made Joe Kleine the kind of teammate every player wants to have. Kleine's first season at Arkansas, he helped the Razorbacks to a 26-4 record, finish second in the Southwest Conference (SWC), and make the second round the NCAA Tournament. His junior season, Kleine helped Arkansas to a record of 25-7, another second place finish in the SWC, and a first round loss in the NCAA Tournament. The biggest victory of the season came on February 12, 1984 at the Convention Center in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, when Kleine helped the Razorbacks upset the #1 ranked North Carolina Tarheels, led by Michael Jordan, thanks to a basket by teammate Charles Balentine at the end of the game. It is considered one of the greatest victory's in Razorback basketball history. Kleine finished that game with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Kleine was selected by the Sacramento Kings with the sixth pick in the 1985 NBA Draft. Kleine went on to have a fifteen-year NBA career, playing with the Kings as well as the Boston Celtics, Phoenix Suns, Los Angeles Lakers, New Jersey Nets, Chicago Bulls, and Portland Trail Blazers. Kleine played on teams with legendary NBA players Michael Jordan, Charles Barkley, Larry Bird, Kevin McHale, Robert Parish, Scottie Pippen, and Dennis Rodman. He won an NBA championship in 1998, as a center, for a Chicago Bulls team that included Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman, and Steve Kerr.

In Episode 134, astrologers Kristina Martin and Tara Redfield dive into the cosmic blueprint of one of heavy metal music's most iconic couples: Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne. Ozzy's chart reveals a bold Sagittarius Sun and a no-nonsense Sagittarius Mercury, while a Capricorn stellium opposed by Uranus perfectly explains why he became the poster child for heavy metal—blending discipline with rebellion. His Scorpio Venus only deepened his craving for intensity. Sharon's chart, on the other hand, features a Libra stellium, highlighting her natural gifts for partnership and negotiation. Yet, a challenging Saturn-Sun conjunction shows her path hasn't been easy, and with Uranus squaring her stellium, chaos and controversy were never far away. A Moon-Mars opposition further reveals her fiery, emotionally charged temper. Together, their charts tell a compelling story: their Suns form a harmonious sextile, aligning their love for social engagements and adventure, while a Venus conjunction in Scorpio points to a deep, intuitive understanding of passion and commitment. However, a Saturn-Moon square creates clashing perspectives on stability, and Uranus-Moon contacts ensure their home life was anything but predictable. Add a tense Mars-Uranus opposition, and it's clear volatility and explosive moments were part of their journey. Tune in to hear the Venus score we give this 41-year saga—and rest in power to the Prince of Darkness. Book a Reading with us! The Culture is Iain M. Banks' sci fi masterpiece - a futuristic society where benevolent AI minds provide humans whatever life they choose. Across the nine books you explore the Culture through their interactions, conflicts, and meddling with other space-faring civilizations. When the series is at its best it's full of action and adventure, and once the dust settles you're left with some extremely interesting ideas about what it means to be happy and have agency in a utopian society.Join the Hugonauts book club on discordOr you can watch the episode on YouTube if you prefer videoAs always, no spoilers until the end when we get into the full plot explanation and discussion. Real Life Devon Gone again, off doing what families do. Probably eating responsibly and not playing Magic with middle schoolers. We'll get a full download when he returns from the wilds of familial bonding. Steven Steven melted in Palm Springs last weekend. Like, cartoon puddle of clothes and glasses melted. It hit 112°F, and not in the fun "desert dry heat" way—it was more like a hairdryer set to regret. But he survived the heat and a surprise 65th birthday party for his mother-in-law. (Note: surprise party for a 65-year-old in 112-degree weather? Bold.) To escape the heat and socializing, Steven brought along Timeline by Michael Crichton, tore through the whole thing, and now he won't stop recommending it. According to him, it's “a pleasant, rollicking adventure of death and destruction in the Middle Ages.” Classic beach read, if your beach has trebuchets. Ben Ben relived his childhood glory this week by annihilating two 12-year-olds at Magic: The Gathering. Old deck, newer rules, zero mercy. He's still basking in the smug warmth of that victory and considering building a commemorative statue of himself out of old booster packs. In nerdier news, Ben continues to experiment with Bazzite OS, a Linux distro that somehow convinced Forza Horizon 5 to run smoothly. He also tried out Wheel World, a cell-shaded, bike-themed Zelda-like that nobody asked for, but he's glad it exists. Streaming from PC to handheld? He recommends: Install Sunshine on your PC Install Moonlight on your handheld device Plug in with Ethernet if you can Pray to the latency gods It's working so far. Maybe this is the future. Maybe this is now. Future or Now Ben brought in a fascinating bit of anti-AI-fakery this week. Researchers at Cornell have developed a way to embed invisible “codes” into light, which act as hidden watermarks in videos. Basically: lighting at press conferences, buildings, or even Zoom calls could carry encrypted signals that make it easy to verify video authenticity later. It's subtle, elegant, and extremely cyberpunk. The best part? You won't notice the difference. But your editing software will. Check it out:

rWotD Episode 3015: 2005–06 Los Angeles Lakers season Welcome to random Wiki of the Day, your journey through Wikipedia's vast and varied content, one random article at a time. The random article for Tuesday, 5 August 2025, is 2005–06 Los Angeles Lakers season. The 2005–06 Los Angeles Lakers season was the 58th of the franchise in the National Basketball Association (NBA) and the 60th overall. The Lakers finished in third place of the Pacific Division and as the seventh seed of the Western Conference. The season ended with the team being eliminated in seven games against the Phoenix Suns in the First Round of the playoffs after holding a 3–1 series lead. After a year absence, the Lakers rehired Phil Jackson as their head coach. It was the final season that Kobe Bryant wore jersey number 8 before changing it to 24 the following season. Also memorable from this season was during a January 22, 2006 game vs. the Toronto Raptors where Bryant dropped a record 81 points, the 2nd highest total in NBA history behind only Wilt Chamberlain's 100-point game in 1962.After the playoffs, Bryant underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee in July. This led to him missing the 2006 FIBA World Championship. This recording reflects the Wikipedia text as of 00:10 UTC on Tuesday, 5 August 2025.For the full current version of the article, see 2005–06 Los Angeles Lakers season on Wikipedia. This podcast uses content from Wikipedia under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License.Visit our archives at wikioftheday.com and subscribe to stay updated on new episodes.Follow us on Mastodon at @wikioftheday@masto.ai.Also check out Curmudgeon's Corner, a current events podcast.Until next time, I'm long-form Gregory.

It's been quite a while since we've sat down for an episode of the Roar Deal in full doom & gloom mode, but Saturday's crisis in Carrara has us not too far from that ballpark. It was our heaviest defeat since the 2022 Prelim Final loss to a red-hot Geelong side, and also our heaviest home & away defeat we've had since 2018. It's also put Dom in a real mood this week on the podcast, with Mike doing his best to lift Dom out of the slump ahead of a season-shaping game against Collingwood this Saturday. Also this week:-Why Dom feels so much resentment to Damien Hardwick-Is Murray Davis a senior coach in waiting?-The worst footy-related birthday celebration of all timeAnd much more!

0:00 ... Show Open ... Ross welcomes the panel and makes his dedication of show #166 to Jonathan Kuminga and Russell Westbrook who both shot just 66% from the free throw line last season. Bruce registers his disappointment with Ross's choice and suggests someone else. 1:54 ... The Charlotte Hornets are the NBA Summer League Champions ... Rookie Kon Knueppel led the way for the Hornets and we all learned the proper pronounciation of his first and last name. The future looks promising for the Hornets after a string of losing seasons, but health will be a huge issue for the "Bugs." 7:53 ... Bruce wants to give some love to Bronny James, who looked like a different player in the Summer League and could be poised to do well this season. 9:04 .... The WNBA All Star Weekend made all kinds of news, especially with their warmup T-Shirts that said "Pay Us What You Owe Us." The crew examines why the players in the "W" deserve more money and make suggestions on who should pay it. 13:09 ... As for the WNBA All Star game itself ..... it was a big bummer ... Rookie All-Star Paige Bueckers and ABC's Elle Duncan both trashed it on the air for the lack of defense and effort .... OUCH. 15:29 ... Bradley Beal certainly got paid and also got a ticket out of Phoenix to Los Angeles. His departure from the Valley leaves lots of wreckage behind as the Suns will need to stretch $97 million of his salary over the next 5 seasons, causing a major financial hurdle for a team that needs more talent. As for the Clippers, they have a lot of old dudes and are a textbook example of a "Win Now" team. And with the addition of 40 year old Chris Paul, the clock is definitely ticking on the veteran team's "window." 22:00 ... With all the old guys on the Clippers, the crew suggests sponsors whose logos can appear on the uniform jerseys of the team. Everyone took a shot and Ross's choice of "Depends" adult diapers was the clear winner among the crew. 23:40 ... 35 year old Damian Lillard is returning to the Portland Trailblazers and with the recent acquisition of another 35 year old guard, Jrue Holiday, the 48 Minutes crew is scratching their collective heads as to what the strategy of the team will be. Does it mean that Scoot Henderson is on shaky ground with the Blazers? 28:56 ... Ross leads a discussion on Giannis and whether any of these moves might make him appreciate being in Milwaukee. 31:42 ... Former Celtic Marcus Smart will soon join the Lakers after being bought out by the Wizards. Bruce and many other Celtics fans are all "up in their feelings" over this move. 35:05 ... Victor Wembanyama has been cleared to play again after suffering from blood clots in his shoulder last season. These are exciting times in San Antonio with Wemby joining Stephon Castle and Dylan Harper on a team that will be a "League Pass Obsession." 37:53 ... The New Orleans Pelicans are looking like a hot mess tossed into a dumpster fire. They've spent the entire off season making one questionable move after another. Over the weekend, their top rookie Derik Queen suffered a wrist injury that will sideline him for three months. New boss Joe Dumars is off to a "bumpy" start to say the least. 42:35 ...
