Min 23.
[Editor's Note: The following contains spoilers for Yellowjackets, Season 3, Episode 4, "12 Angry Girls and 1 Drunk Travis."]Tawny Cypress is an absolute powerhouse on Yellowjackets. In fact, Cypress was so immediately captivating in the hit Showtime and Paramount+ series that I frequently caught myself wondering, how have we not been getting a steady stream of Tawny content for years now? Cypress' first main role on a TV series was playing Simone Deveaux in Heroes, but that run only lasted one season. After that, it was Unforgettable on CBS, but Cypress jumped into that one when the show was already in its second season. Next up was a main role in The Blacklist: Redemption, but again, that foundation had already been built pror to Cypress' involvement because, of course, it was a The Blacklist spin-off. Cypress needed more, and she deserved more. In fact, she wished for just that. “I want a really good show. I want the best job I've ever had, and I want it to be good, and I want it to last.” That wish was granted. It was Yellowjackets.Cypress stars as the present day version of Taissa Turner, played in the 90s by past Ladies Night guest Jasmin Savoy Brown. At the start of the series, Cypress' Taissa is running to become a New Jersey state senator. However, when her past in the wilderness catches up with her, Taissa starts to unravel, threatening her chances of winning the election. Shocking many, including herself, Tai wins the race, but at that point it's too late. The wilderness has firmly dug its claws back into the surviving Yellowjackets, reuniting Taissa with Van (Lauren Ambrose), and then bringing the whole (?) group back together at Lottie's (Simone Kessell) compound to sort through the wealth of complications the 1996 plane crash left them with as adults. Their get-together concludes with an especially twisted hunt, one that results in Natalie's (Juliette Lewis) demise. When Season 3 kicks off, forget politics. Taissa has narrowed her focus to one thing and one thing only, keeping Van alive - even if she has to turn to the wilderness to do so.With Yellowjackets Season 3, Episodes 1-4 now available to stream on Paramount+, Cypress swung by the Collider Ladies Night studio to discuss her journey to Yellowjackets, and offer some insight into the most powerful and cryptic moments of Season 3 thus far. Showtime's Yellowjackets is really two shows in one. One is about a group of '90s teenage plane crash survivors, and the other follows them now. The trick is finding that balance between the actors playing the same characters. “Casting just did an excellent job. They found people with similar essences,” says Jasmin Savoy Brown, who plays the younger version of Taissa. “If anyone has a harder job, it's [Tawny Cypress, who plays Taissa's older self], because technically, she has to play to who her younger person is, me.” Brown admits it's “intimidating” to have the modern-day characters played by greats like Cypress, Christina Ricci, Juliette Lewis and Melanie Lynskey. “All of them make it so easy. There's no one that's snobby or diva or rude.” And Brown, who can also be seen in the upcoming Scream 7—“I'm really honored to be playing the first out queer character in that franchise's history”—is most aware how special this moment is. “I'm really grateful, I get to work with people who've been doing this for a long time, and all of them happen to be really kind.” See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Jasmin Savoy Brown's been racking up impressive film and television credits for quite some time, but she skyrocketed to the top of the Collider Ladies Night guest bucket list in January 2022 courtesy of Scream.Yes, there are many pre-Scream titles of Brown's I'd highly recommend — The Leftovers, Laggies, and Sound of Violence being major standouts — but Brown carries one particular scene in Scream that quickly became a favorite scene of the franchise, and of all-time — the scene in which Mindy explains the rules of the new movie. It's brilliant writing, but it's also dialogue that only works in the hands of the most adept performer, someone who's able to play into the comedic meta nature of the franchise while also respecting the fact that the series has amassed a slew of diehard fans. “To some people, the original is their favorite thing in the world, the movie that made them love horror, that mom or dad showed them when they were 10 that bonded them together.” That right there is me, and Brown delivers that dialogue in a way that's both playful and reverential, and also sparks a feeling that very few scenes achieve; it suddenly feels like the whole world's melted away and Mindy is talking directly to you.Brown cemented her place on the Collider Ladies Night guest bucket list even further with Yellowjackets. In an ensemble packed with top-notch talent, Brown shines via Taissa's determination and tenacity, and also the infectious love and warmth between her and Van (Liv Hewson). As things get darker (and colder) in Season 2, Brown soars while exploring the physical and emotional complexity of Tai's situation, how it's impacting her relationship with Van, her place in the group, and the person she's becoming.Want yet another reason Brown's a must-have guest on Collider Ladies Night? Since skyrocketing in Hollywood via Scream and Yellowjackets, she's using her ever-growing reach and platform to encourage positive representation. Brown's a true force in this business, and one that's changing it for the better, making her the ideal Collider Ladies Night guest. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Continuing their discussion on climate change, the Honest Scientists discuss public denial and resistance to climate science. They highlight how climate change affects their lives and relates to their research. Finally, they present some solutions to the climate crisis, focusing on actions everyone can take. We are Honest Scientists, Lauren, Taissa, Ivan, and Ronny, graduate science students at the University of Nevada Reno, and this is our podcast on Biodiversity Loss. E198: mailto:needssomeintroduction@gmail.com After brief praise for Netflix's new road rage black comedy, Beef... In the past, everyone has indigestion, except for Ben, he only has regrets. In the present, Shauna is barely able to restrain her itchy trigger finger. Lottie may win over Natalie, yet. Misty has a new partner in crime(solving). Taissa has a face to face... with herself and decides to make a trip down memory lane rather than stay by her wife's side.
My guest co-host this week is one of my favorite Yellowjackets collaborators and fellow Yellowjackets podcaster, Justin from Out of the Woods Podcast. Look for his show on your favorite podcast app and thank me later! Shauna is basically a kicked puppy dog in the absolute most masterful way (Give Sophie her Emmy already!), Taissa is freaking the eff out, there's boy poop (It's definitely boy poop) in the pee bucket, and Matt is a douche who probably would've worn Zubaz back in the day. And Justin makes the most horrifying observation about the relevence of the movie Titanic within the Yellowjackets universe. Do NOT make Lottie assume her ultimate form! To learn more about us, our research, and our interests and experiences with the natural world, tune in to our pilot discussion on Climate Change. We conducted research and presented that research in roundtable discussions recorded for podcast and radio distribution. We found that excessive consumption (food and other resources) was the main driver of 5 causes of Biodiversity Loss: climate change, pollution, invasive species, development, and overharvesting resources. This week on Doomcoming, Yellowjackets gives us a lake baptism, some sexting, and a helping of very confusing birthday and graduation math — amongst other things (like learning Adult Nat actually *always* wears casual fishnets and that all version of Taissa are eating dirt). This time on Damn Fine TV… The Yellowjackets say goodbye to their friend and hello to some fresh digs. Only issue - it's potentially haunted?! How much more can our gals handle at this point? Shauna escalates things with Adam begging the question once again is Adam hotter than Jeff? Nat and Misty bond over the musical soundtrack for Cats and Taissa struggles to balance home/life as her opponent takes a real “bite” into the competition. All this and more in our coverage for Yellowjackets episode 3, “The Dollhouse” with special guest Coral from Wholesome Peaks. Some questions for you; Was Flex always hot? Why was Adam really at the hotel? Would you have left the plane in search of higher ground? And perhaps as equally important - what's in the woods and is it the person with no eyes?? *This episode is available in video format on Spotify and Patreon. Following up on the previous series where pterosaurs dominated, we had to sneak in a bit more of them here. Dave has always had an aversion to the toothy ornithocheirids as while so many of them turn up in 3D (unlike pretty much all other pterosaurs) they also have a horrific taxonomic history and they are a nightmare to deal with. Happily, Taissa Rodrigues is here to talk all about them and she has done more than anyone else to sort out these species and their relationships in recent years as well as working on their biology and that of other pterosaurs in her native Brazil. We also get onto the tricky subject of fossil laws, poaching, exports and differing rules and histories around the world and the damage it can do to research. Join us if you'd like to see this and similar bonus content! Thanks so much to our new members, and a special thanks to our new honorary Antler Queen, Phoenix! In this episode we unpack lots of theories on Shauna's baby. Did it survive? Did it grow up to be a killing machine that will hunt Jeff down? Did the baby grow up to be Javi? (No, you sicko!) We have another deep dive for you, and this one focuses on the complex and enigmatic Taissa Turner, played by Jasmin Savoy-Brown (teen) and Tawny Cypress (adult). As the Yellowjackets' star player, Taissa has a competitive edge that sometimes pushes her over the line. Now, 25 years later, her political ambitions threaten to derail the survivors' pact of secrecy.
