In the canon of Final Destination imitators, Whistle is a gift. Corin Hardy's ode to teen slashers is a nifty blend of "artifact horror" and young-adult perspectives. There are many films based on the inability to cheat Death, but writer Owen Egerton finds a unique twist to keep us hooked. It's a cozy late-night programmer that fits alongside other Shudder titles like Clown in a Cornfield, one that's respectful of its audience yet focused on easy-breezy genre entertainment. Hardy keeps it simple and aims to put a smile on horror fans' faces, which is just fine in our book.

Love is very much in the air on the Empire Podcast this week, as Chris Hewitt, Helen O'Hara, James Dyer, and Becky Darke cram themselves into the podbooth and get all misty-eyed over Jason Voorhees, the masked maniac from the Friday The 13th movies, just in time for his birthday. But Valentine's Day also looms large this weekend, so the podteam answer a listener question about the worst choices made in rom-coms. The answers will shock you. Elsewhere, our intrepid quartet discuss the week's movie news, including the shock news that Mike Flanagan has decided to adapt a Stephen King story, and review Emerald Fennell's Wuthering Heights, Bart Layton's Crime 101, Corin Hardy's Whistle, and Hasan Hadi's The President's Cake. And Helen sits down on Zoom with Emerald Fennell to ask her all about her adaptation of the classic novel. [45:29 - 1:02:11 approx] Enjoy!
Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip!This week Pip is joined by film-maker and director CORIN HARDY!Corin's new film 'Whistle' aptly drops on Friday 13th, which will surely be on the radar of the horror heads among you but if not, it might form part of your forthcoming movie schedule after listening to this one... Corin's served many years in the game, from time spent in set design and then onto stop motion, which led onto over 50 music videos which further led to working in a more cinematic capacity. It's been a hugely creative path, all underpinned by music which also forms a huge link in the chain (as you'll hear from the mutual interest in Operation Ivy and Rancid), and as with all Distraction Pieces the chat reins are loosened and conversation wanders into all sorts of awesome ground. Crucially though - you'll hear a ton about Whistle (without hearing the whistle itself - thankfully? - which is present throughout the chat), and the process of bringing it to the screen. We're thrilled to be adding the delightful Sophie Nélisse to the list of YELLOWJACKETS stars we've spoken with on the show; you'll recognize her as young Shauna Shipman from that series (or perhaps from her role in the beyond-buzzy HEATED RIVALRY). Now she's starring in the fun and freaky cursed-object horror movie WHISTLE, out in theaters this weekend (February 6, 2026). Now 25, Sophie's been acting since she was 11, and all that has taught her a thing or two about her emotions -- naming them, trying to control them, and knowing when they just can't be reined in. We are talking about all of that through the lens of Pixar's INSIDE OUT 2 on today's show! Then, speaking of emotions, Jordan has one quick thing about the transcendent Catherine O'Hara. Feeling Seen is hosted by Jordan Crucchiola and is a production Maximum Fun.Need more Feeling Seen? Keep up with the show on Instagram and Bluesky.

In this celebratory 200th episode of Bloodhaus, hosts Joshua Conkel and Drusilla reflect on their journey through arthouse horror films. They delve into the thematic exploration of nuns in cinema, focusing on Paul Verhoeven's 'Benedetta' before switching to discuss the low brow effort that is 'The Nun'. Benedetta is a 2021 biographical psychological drama film co-written and directed by Paul Verhoeven, starring Virginie Efira as Benedetta Carlini, a nun in the 17th century who joins an Italian convent while a young child and later has a lesbian love affair with another nun, while seeing religious visions.[4][5]The Nun is a 2018 American gothic supernatural horror film directed by Corin Hardy and written by Gary Dauberman, from a story by Dauberman and James Wan. It serves as a spiritual spin-off to The Conjuring 2 and is the fifth installment in The Conjuring shared universe. The film stars Taissa Farmiga, Demián Bichir and Jonas Bloquet, with Bonnie Aarons reprising her role as the Demon Nun, an incarnation of Valak, from The Conjuring 2. The plot follows a Roman Catholic priest and a nun in her novitiate as they uncover an unholy secret in 1952 Romania. If you're a fan of genre, there was no better place to be at San Diego Comic-Con 2025 than in Ballroom 20 on Thursday night for the Collider Ladies Night After Dark panel. Ladies Night joined forces with the IFC Entertainment Group to celebrate two titles gearing up for their Shudder debut, and to unveil first looks at three upcoming theatrical releases. Even better? It all happened with five big-screen powerhouses - Dafne Keen, Sophie Nélisse, Alexandra Shipp, Katie Douglas and Hassie Harrison. In true Collider Ladies Night fashion, the group began by pinpointing pivotal early career experiences that helped pave the way to their latest projects. After that, Douglas and Harrison revisited their time on the Clown in a Cornfield and Dangerous Animals sets, respectively, and then Keen, Nélisse and Shipp debuted the very first footage for their upcoming films. For Keen and Nélisse, that meant celebrating the world premiere of the teaser trailer for their new horror film, Whistle. Directed by Corin Hardy, Whistle puts the focus on a group of friends who happen upon an ancient Aztec death whistle. When someone blows the whistle or hears its sound, the countdown begins. Their future deaths start coming for them. From there, Shipp put the spotlight on Violent Ends, a revenge thriller that poses the question, “If you lost the most dear thing to you, what the fuck would you do to the people who took it from you?” Collider Ladies Night After Dark had the privilege of showing off one of Shipp's most breathtaking moments in the movie before turning towards another upcoming release, Forbidden Fruits. In that one, Shipp stars opposite Lili Reinhardt, Victoria Pedretti and Lola Tung as a group of women who “work at a Free People-esque mall shop,” and also practice witchcraft. Hosted on Acast. We talk to Corin Hardy – Award Winning Filmmaker, Writer and Director known for The Hallow, The Nun and Gangs of London along with creating epic music videos for the likes of Keane, The Prodigy and Biffy Clyro. Our conversation traces Corin's earliest introductions into filmmaking and the gateway of 80s Horror and VHS tapes which allowed his young imagination to run wild. Along with a love of the macabre, Corin and his brother Robin shared a mutual love of Rock and Roll which has followed them both since the big haired days of the 1980s and still provides an inspirational soundtrack to everything he does to this day. This is a more than fitting way to see out 2022 on this podcast.Presented in association with Affinity Photo - The hottest photo editing software on iPad, Mac & PChttps://affinity.serif.com/photoIntro Music by Johnny Monacohttps://www.johnnymonaco.com/ Incidental Music by Night Fires Please visit The Straight To Video Patreon Page to find out how you can help grow this show. https://patreon.com/stvpod
Dan and Conrad venture into the deep dark woods of Ireland and explore Corin Hardy's The Hallow (2015), where British conservationist Adam and his wife Claire come under attack from ancient faerie folk, parasitic fungus and – worst of all – unpleasant monosyllabic locals. It's a love letter to the director's favourite genre icons and delightfully practical in its execution, and was largely overlooked in the folk horror booms of the 2010s. But crucially, is it any good? Find out! Follow us on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram Support us on Patreon to nominate future films and access exclusive bonus content

Sam. Fucking. Raimi. I think I can stop there. No? OK then, onward we go! For this episode I'm continuing my interviews with amazing talent publishing books though Cemetery Dance Publications. Ian Rogers joins me to talk about his soon-to-be-released collection of 22 horror stories, “Every House Is Haunted.” Perhaps the biggest news is that the book was optioned by Sam Raimi and a feature film of one of the stories, “The House on Ashley Avenue,” is currently in development at Netflix. Script by Jason Pagan and Andrew Deutschman, directed by Corin Hardy, helmer of “The Nun” and “Gangs of London.” We talk all about this, how Ian met Sam Raimi and what the process has been like. Next, we dive into the book itself, of which the stories include: A mysterious double murder draws the attention of an insurance company with a special interest in the paranormal. A honeymoon cabin with an unspeakable appetite finally meets its match. A suburban home is transformed into the hunting ground for a new breed of spider. A nightmarish jazz club at the crossroads of reality plays host to those who can break a deal with the devil...for a price. Ian talks about where the ideas came from, which story was the first to be published, and some of his favorites, as well as whether anything was changed from when they were first written.

For this first episode of the NEW season of the pod, Georgie sat down with Director Corin Hardy to talk about his work directing the new series of 'Gangs of London'. The series will be available to watch on Sky Atlantic and NOW from 20th October. Georgie was lucky enough to sneak a preview and let me tell you....you're in for a TREAT. And a lot of gore. Speaking of gore, Georgie asks Corin more about his work in the world of horror and what it is about this genre that fascinates people when it's very, well.....scary. Georgie asks Corin whether Halloween is his favourite time of the year (it is), Corin talks about his annual 'Horror-thon' and Georgie finds out what Corin enjoys watching when he's not working.
We celebrated Two hundred episodes of the podcast with an ALL DAY live event at Kings Place in London, featuring ten hours of content that all culminated in this big 200th show. We kick off with Corin Hardy and Orli Shuka talking us through an explosive action clip from Gangs of London series 2, followed by a chat with Matt Berry, who joined us to celebrate ten years of Toast Of London. Plus we got into Game Of Thrones prequel House Of The Dragon on Sky, and bickered about She-Hulk on Disney+. And of course James couldn't let this milestone event go past without crowbarring the final season of See into the mix as well. There was chaos, there was carnage, there were audience questions, and returning Pilot legend Terri White was on hand to call James a bellend. What more could you possibly ask?
Listener-request month marches on through a dense woods as we check out The Hallow (2015). Irish folklore and killer fungus come together to terrorize a young family from first-time director Corin Hardy. And now our third time covering Michael Smiley, a guy we didn't even know existed a year ago. What a trip.
