I've been lucky enough to cross paths with Taissa Farmiga quite a bit over the years for interviews, but a Collider Ladies Night conversation is different. Farmiga's had a one-of-a-kind journey in this industry and during our 40-minute chat, we covered as much of it as possible leading up to her latest project, the HBO series, The Gilded Age. From Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes, The Gilded Age kicks off in the United States in 1882, a time that involved a significant conflict between old money and new ways of amassing enormous fortunes. In the Upper East Side of New York City, the former group includes the Van Rhijn household, led by Christine Baranski's Agnes van Rhijn. Agnes holds tight to the past and keeps an eye out for newcomers who don't belong, like her new neighbors the Russells. That's where we meet Farmiga's character, Gladys Russell. She's the teenage daughter of George (Morgan Spector) and Bertha (Carrie Coon). At this point, Gladys should have made her society debut, but Bertha refuses to let Gladys out of lockdown until she can fill her massive ballroom for the occasion. Trouble is, given that the Russells are new to the area, Bertha is finding it rather difficult to earn a place in the local elite social circle. During our Collider Ladies Night chat, we discussed when her sister, Vera Farmiga, encouraged her to join the cast of her directorial debut, Higher Ground, what it was like joining the ensemble of American Horror Story, how she scored her role in The Gilded Age and so much more! After Kimmel detailed Murray's prior comments on joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the host asked plainly "Are you in the Ant-Man movie?" Murray dodged the subject by mentioning all the people that ARE confirmed for the movie, but that he isn't at liberty to talk about himself. On Kimmel, Murray poked fun at his past press experiences by only answering Jimmy's questions after speaking through a pair of his own translators. The convoluted conversation left Jimmy laughing throughout its entirely. When he finally answered Kimmel's question about a possible MCU appearance, Murray said "I am not at liberty to talk about it," before turning to his translators and saying "But we can talk about it when we eat dinner." Another new addition to the cast of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is Jonathan Majors, who will be playing Kang the Conqueror. Majors originally appeared in the Disney+ series Loki playing a variant of Kang that created the TVA, "He Who Remains." However, that version of Kang suffered an untimely end, raising questions about what Majors' appearance in Quantumania will entail. [7:21] Marvel Reveals Ant-Man's Official MCU Timeline https://www.instagram.com/p/CVvJXZMIRen/ Marvel Studios has shared an official graphic chronicling Ant-Man's journey through the Marvel Cinematic Universe thus far. On Instagram, the official Marvel UK account posted a timeline recounting all of Scott Lang/Ant-Man's MCU appearances in chronological order. What makes this timeline … is that it also charts Scott's size throughout each film. The timeline uses Scott's normal size as a baseline, with the line on the graph dipping every time he used the Ant-Man suit to shrink and, eventually, climbing significantly when he used the suit to grow and become Giant-Man -- a feat he first accomplished in Civil War. The line reaches its absolute lowest points whenever Scott visits the Quantum Realm, which he did in Ant-Man, Ant-Man and the Wasp and multiple times in Endgame. Meanwhile, it reaches an all-time high during his biggest foray as Giant-Man to date, which took place during Endgame's climactic final battle. His breakthrough is at 32:05 which was, ironically based on math equations, and is not e = mc^2 although that is the common vernacular. [13:05] ‘Eternals' Pulled From Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Kuwait in Apparent Ban https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/eternals-banned-saudi-arabia-qatar-kuwait-1235042241/ The all-star superhero film, which was due for release across the Gulf region on Nov. 11, is understood to have been met with a series of edit requests by the local censors, edits that THR has heard Disney was not willing to make. The news emerged on Thursday, with Eternals having quietly been removed from websites in each of those countries. In the United Arab Emirates, however, the film is still listed as among the titles coming soon. Sources suggest the decision was likely made over the inclusion of a same-sex couple in the film and the MCU's first gay superhero. In one scene, the character, Phastos (played by Brian Tyree Henry), and his on-screen husband, Ben (Haaz Sleiman), share a passionate kiss. Homosexuality is still officially illegal across the Gulf, and films containing anything related to LGBTQ issues are frequently pulled from release. Last year, the Pixar title Onward was banned across Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and Saudi Arabia over a single line referencing a lesbian relationship [16:11] Eternals Review Bomb Proves Marvel is On the Right Track https://screenrant.com/eternals-movie-review-bomb-marvel-good-future-representation/ Review bombing is the practice of a subgroup of people providing a huge number of negative reviews to a movie before it has been released in an attempt to make producers think that public opinion is against them. Of the over 400 1-star reviews, many of them reference the fact that the movie includes LGBTQ+ representation and an on-screen gay kiss. Kumail Nanjiani, who plays Kingo in Eternals, tweeted in response to the Eternals review bomb to say, “Looks like we're upsetting the right people.” Chloe Zhao has said that she is hopeful that Marvel Studios will not allow the movie to be censored for overseas audiences. By including Phastos as a gay superhero and weathering the Eternals review bomb by standing behind the film, Disney and Marvel are putting their money where their mouth is on their repeated claims to want to introduce more diverse characters. In the source material, Eleonor Bishop is Kate's long-lost mother. It was thought that she died when Kate was a child, only for it to later be revealed in Kelly Thompson and Leonardo Romero's Hawkeye run that she had survived and begun financing criminal activities. Eleonor's activities ended up bringing her into the crosshairs of Kate, as the younger Hawkeye was pursuing her longtime foe, Madame Masque, who was under Eleanor's employ. With rumors swirling that Madame Masque will be featured in Hawkeye, Farmiga's heel turn may have been hidden in plain sight. Luke and Corrye probably shouldn't have brought up one particular mini-monologue by Alec Baldwin before pressing record. The Departed feels like an NBA all-star game...except everyone is trying really hard, and the game is actually GOOD. Corrye waxes philosophical on the theme of identity, while Luke rattles off some of the more quotable lines that should be pop culture royalty by now. PLUS: research revelations that include the film's Hong Kong influence, the Xs used by Scorsese, and the criminally underrated Vera Farmiga.

The Conjuring The Devil Made Me Do It is finally hitting theaters and streaming this week. So, Adam and Thomas have their paranormal investigative gear ready for a look back at The Conjuring Universe! Then, the evil doll that no one loves gets an origin story that's actually pretty solid in Annabelle: Creation! Together, our duo answers the crucial questions. We are a bit late in the game with a podcast episode and posting on our take of Godzilla: King of the Monsters, but we still wanted to take a look and give our audience our view and thoughts on this movie. We'll dive into the Godzilla: King of the Monsters' post credit scene, the initial Godzilla: King of the Monsters box office standing, Godzilla: King of the Monsters titan list (it seemed like there were so many!), our Godzilla: King of the Monsters rating and review, and more! (Warning for Spoilers!) Godzilla: King of the Monsters Movie Cast and Brief Synopsis Synopsis: Following the events of 2014's film of Godzilla, approximately five years have passed. Monarch, the organization responsible for studying the Titans, are under pressure to start killing and destroying these Titans. That is until a scientist by the name of Dr. Emma Russell has created a machine that can help control the Titans, dubbed as the Orca. However, her actions are somewhat devious as her purpose for releasing them is to bring somewhat of a fall to man and bring balance back to Earth (with the idea of humans being a "virus" to the Earth). Her husband is roped into chasing her down to help prevent the awakening of the Titans. Along the way, the other worldly Titan King Ghidorah is awakened, but this does not bode well for the humans and Godzilla is forced to step in to help stop this powerful creature. Movie Cast: Kyle Chandler as Dr. Mark Russell Chandler plays a scientist who previously worked for the Monsterverse organization Monarch. He has become an animal communication / behavior specialist. Unfortunately, he gets roped into the film's conflict due to his ex-wife being involved in awakening the Titans. Vera Farmiga as Dr. Emma Russell The audience eventually finds out that Farmiga's character actually kind of turns out to be the main antagonist of the film. She's the one that wants to awaken the Titans that are either unhatched or in some type of stasis. To do this she needed to team up with Charles Dance's character (at the beginning it looks like Dance kidnaps Farmiga). Of course in the end, she regrets her actions, but much damage had already been done. Millie Bobby Brown as Madison Russell Brown who had previously starred in the popular series Stranger Things, plays the daughter of Chandler and Farmiga's characters. Her character seems like she is torn between which parent to follow, but is ultimately forced to follow her mother most of the film. Ken Watanabe as Dr. Ishiro Serizawa We here at Force Fed Sci-Fi are a fan of Ken Watanabe and go as far as to bring him up to legendary status, at least in our minds. In any case, Watanabe is one of the few characters that appeared in the 2014 Godzilla movie and his role is reprised in this sequel. We do enjoy his character in both films. Perhaps it's just that he plays a wise and caring character towards the Titans, but I know I had an issue with how much radiation he was exposed to as he sacrificed himself to help heal Godzilla (he should've died early on in that scene as he would not have survived that long). Charles Dance as Alan Jonah Should Dance have been made the main villain? We think so. We think Farmiga's character could have just been that classic scientist that became kidnapped and was forced to release the Titans under the force of Dance's character. However, that's not what we got, apparently it was all Emma Russell's plot. In any case, Dance did a great job and had some of the best lines and delivered them well. Godzilla: King of the Monsters Box Office Performance After being out a little over a month, Godzilla: King of the Monsters box office performance has earned $380 million over a budget of $170 to $200 million. So, the film has made up its budget and has not surpassed that much. We wouldn't call this a success at the box office, but at least it seems like it's going to make a bit...
Vegas Film Critic (Jeffrey K. Howard) reviews Godzilla: King of the Monsters.
This episode, the FMB reluctantly cover the sequel to Legendary's Godzilla 2014 at special guest, Saleem's insistence. They boys power through this episode with the energy of kids in detention, but their guest makes the proceedings considerably lighter and the hosts have fun with discussion about previous iterations of Godzilla himself and wild speculation on the what the inevitable sequel may have in store. Enjoy!
The Filmlosophers, Eddie Villanueva, Chad Riley and Spencer Williams, knock over a few buildings while saving the world with this week's review of Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019). As the third installment of Warner Bros. MonsterVerse, the film presents some of the famous kaiju's most fearsome opponents while setting up the additional mythology leading up to next year's Godzilla vs. Kong. Directed by Michael Dougherty, the film stars Kyle Chandler, Vera Farmiga, Millie Bobby Brown, Bradley Whitford, Sally Hawkins, Charles Dance, Thomas Middleditch, Aisha Hinds, O'Shea Jackson Jr., David Strathairn, Ken Watanabe, Zhang Ziyi and a bunch of monsters “as themselves.” Intrigued? Give us a listen!

The Filmlosophers, Eddie Villanueva, Chad Riley and Spencer Williams, get a bit sneaky with this week's review of Captive State (2019). Written and directed by Rupert Wyatt, the film stars John Goodman, Ashton Sanders, Jonathan Majors, Machine Gun Kelly, and Vera Farmiga. Its depiction of a world held captive by aggressive, insect-like aliens hews closely to other films within the genre while also attempting to differentiate itself as a think-piece on social stratification and themes of insurgency against an oppressive government. In a landscape full of enemies both foreign and domestic, what chance does one have to rise up and effect change? And can the audience hang in long enough to care about the outcome? Listen in to find out what we thought of the film...

Father Burke is ordered by the Vatican to uncover the mystery behind the death of a nun in a Romanian monastery. He looks to a soon-to-be nun for help on this journey as they uncover the origins of a deep rooted evil. In this week's episode, Admir and Chris delve into the 5th film in the Conjuring franchise. Although some praise is reserved for the cinematography and on-site filming, much is left to be desired from the plot, characters and attempts at horror in this phoned-in prequel.

Heath Ledger and Vera Farmiga got their big breaks in ROAR, a sexy teen riff on BRAVEHEART and HERCULES, about a gang of hot young Celts who do battle with an immortal Roman to save Ireland from oppression. Along the way they rescue banshees, kiss fire maidens, rescue Jesus Christ's personal correspondence and throw spears into heaven... for reasons. ROAR failed to take off on the Fox Network, but was it possibly... CANCELED TOO SOON? Welcome back to the Haters Cast! We know you missed your usual spoop zone time last week, so we're back in it this week to talk about all the spooky witch ghosts in The Conjuring, directed by James Wan and starring Vera Farmiga, Patrick Wilson, and Ron Livingston. We go off the rails on this one guys, as we dig in to the Avril Lavigne conspiracy, talk about Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh! for a solid 20 minutes, and we shit all over ghosts and ghost hunters.
All the news, all the TV shows -- let's just cut to the chase here... "Twin Peaks" is back and nothing else really matters. I mean, does it? Let's just get into it, shall we? NEWS: "Twin Peaks" debuted to just 506,000 live viewers when it returned on Sunday night. However, the majority of the episodes’ viewers watched the first four episodes online through the Showtime app or on Hulu, Amazon or Youtube -- bringing Showtime the biggest record weekend (and single day) in subscriber signups in the network’s history. HBO has finally confirmed there are just 13 episodes left in the "Game of Thrones" series. Originally, they left open the possibility of more episodes being developed but now it’s finalized: Season 7 will have seven episodes, Season 8 will have only 6. TJ Miller won’t return to "Silicon Valley" for Season 5 which is a damn shame HBO and Jon Stewart have scrapped their planned short-form animated news project which was originally set to premiere during the 2016 election. Saying in a joint statement, "We all thought the project had great potential but there were technical issues in terms of production and distribution that proved too difficult given the quick turnaround and topical nature of the material. We’re excited to report that we have some future projects together which you will be hearing about in the near future.” Oliver Stone is partnering with Weinstein TV to direct the entire first season of “Guantanamo” -- a that’ll focus specifically on the detainees held in one of the world's most controversial prisons, and those who defend and condemn them. No network is attached as of yet. This is Oliver Stone’s first foray into television. NBC has renewed "Trial & Error" for a second season NBC has canceled "Chicago Justice" after one season Sashir Zamata and Vanessa Bayer are leaving "SNL" Mel Rodriguez and Vera Farmiga will star in an episode of "Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams" -- Amazon’s new sci-fi anthology series from Bryan Cranston. “In the episode, a man hangs dead from a lamppost, apparently murdered and inexplicably ignored by passersby, after a politician (Farmiga) makes a shocking statement encouraging violence. When one extraordinarily average man (Rodriguez) dares to question the situation, he becomes an instant target.” Netflix has canceled "The Get Down" after one season The third and final season of Netflix’s "Bloodline" premieres this Friday. Originally, it was to be a five or six season series, but because of Florida’s decision to cut tax incentives for film and TV productions, things became way too expensive to shoot. Instead, the third and final season -- cut down from 13 episodes to 10 -- will premiere May 26 to Netflix. History Channel has ordered a new UFO-themed series from Robert Zemeckis titled, "Blue Book." The story follows a college professor recruited by the Air Force to research paranormal files from the 1950s and '60s, each episode drawing inspiration from actual files for a blend of UFO theories with authentic historical information. Disney has renewed "Andi Mack" for a second season The "Black-ish" spinoff has an official new home - Freeform and an official new name: "College-ish" Lifetime is moving forward with its Robert Durst movie, titled “The Lost Wife of Robert Durst.” David Gillies, vampy star of CW’s “The Originals” will play Durst and Katharine McPhee will play Durst’s first wife Kathie, who mysteriously vanished in 1982. While Durst is currently in jail awaiting trial for the murder of his close friend, journalist Susan Berman, the questions linger as to what really happened to Kathie.
