VERSONO Medical Ltd is delighted to announce that it has been named Dragons' Den winner of the CX Innovation Prize at the international CX Symposium in London last week. The competition was between nine companies from the US, Germany, Israel, Singapore and Ireland, all of which have developed innovative technologies in the field of vascular and endovascular treatment. The US/Galway-based firm faced off in a Dragons' Den-style event in which VERSONO Medical CEO Finbar Dolan presented on the company's plans for its revolutionary FastWire Technology Platform, including its progress on enabling the endovascular treatment of chronic complex total occlusions (CTOs), and the latest developments in its FREEFLOW pivotal study. VERSONO was judged the winner by a panel of Dragons including Robert Mitchell, General Manager of global healthcare company Organon; Prof. Frans Moll, vascular surgeon; Prof. Tilo Kolbel, Director of the German Aortic Centre in Hamburg; Jeffrey B. Jump, founder of Casper-Medical; and Charles Taylor, CEO of Veryan Medical. The event was chaired by Baron Stephen Greenhalgh. FastWire is a truly disruptive technology designed to quickly access previously untreatable complex blockages in arteries, increasing success rates and reducing risk of amputations via endovascular techniques. It uses a novel proprietary ultrasonic technology developed and patented by the company to cross through severe, complex blockages in patient's arteries, above, and below, the knee with Critical Limb Threatening Ischemia (CLTI). The technology has huge potential application in endovascular procedures. VERSONO Medical is in the process of completing the FREEFLOW pivotal study for its FastWire System. Designed to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of the FastWire device through the FDA-approved Investigational Device Exemption (IDE) study, FREEFLOW is being performed in three centres the Vascular Institute of the Midwest (VIM) in Davenport, Iowa; the Cardiovascular Institute of the South (CIS) in Houma, Louisiana; and the Vascular Institute of Chattanooga (VIC) in Tennessee. Subject to the successful completion of the study, the company will seek US market approval to launch FastWire. The Charing Cross (CX) Symposium took place from April 23-25th at the ExcCeL in London. The event brings together world-leading experts in the treatment of vascular and endovascular disease to discuss the challenges and emerging trends in the field. Hosted every three years, the CX Symposium is a prestige event which holds education, innovation and evidence as core values. VERSONO CEO Finbar Dolan says: "It's an honour to win the Dragons Den innovation prize at the CX Symposium in London. This is one of the prestige events in the field of vascular and endovascular treatment and we are thrilled to be selected as the standout candidates in a highly competitive group of companies developing innovative technologies." "The Adventures of Philip Marlowe" was a hardboiled detective radio series based on Raymond Chandler's iconic private eye. Unlike many other detective shows of the era, it was known for its serious tone, with fewer lighthearted moments. The show premiered on NBC in June 1947 as a summer replacement for Bob Hope, titled "The New Adventures of Philip Marlowe," starring Van Heflin. The first episode adapted Chandler's short story "Red Wind," and the NBC run concluded in September 1947.In 1948, the series moved to CBS and was renamed "The Adventures of Philip Marlowe," with Gerald Mohr taking on the lead role. This CBS version also began with a different adaptation of "Red Wind." By 1949, it had become the most popular radio program. The CBS series aired for 114 episodes, from September 1948 to September 1950.From July to September 1951, the show briefly returned as a summer replacement for "Hopalong Cassidy," with Mohr reprising his role, except for one episode in 1950 featuring William Conrad.A notable episode, "The Birds on the Wing" (November 26, 1949), famously broke the fourth wall at both the beginning and end. Marlowe mentions reading Chandler's latest novel, "The Little Sister," and in the conclusion, Gracie Allen asks Marlowe to find a radio show for her husband, George Burns.Lyn Murray composed the program's music. The theme used in the first two NBC episodes, where Marlowe narrates the opening of Chandler's "Red Wind," later became a prominent motif in Murray's score for Alfred Hitchcock's "To Catch a Thief" (1954).Despite its popularity, "The Adventures of Philip Marlowe" lacked consistent sponsorship, with only brief periods supported by Ford Motor Company and Wrigley's Gum in 1950.Raymond Chandler had minimal involvement with the radio series, content with the weekly royalties for his character's use and expressing moderate satisfaction with Gerald Mohr's portrayal of Marlowe. The first NBC episode's script was by Milton Geiger, which Chandler found "thoroughly flat." The CBS version, produced and directed by Norman Macdonnell, was better received. The writing team for the CBS series included Gene Levitt, Robert Mitchell, Mel Dinelli, and Kathleen Hite, with music by Richard Aurandt and Roy Rowan as the announcer. The cast alongside Gerald Mohr featured actors such as Jeff Corey, Howard McNear, Parley Baer, Lawrence Dobkin, Virginia Gregg, Gloria Blondell, and Lou Krugman.

In this episode, Dr. Fred Johnson sits down with Colonel Bob Mitchell, a retired Army leader to discuss the leadership principles that have guided him. Colonel Mitchell reflects on how his leadership development began in high school under the mentorship of his football coach, who helped him realize his leadership potential early on. This foundation carried him through his 30-year military career, including commanding medevac units in Iraq, where he led over 1,000 soldiers and managed complex, high-risk operations. Key takeaways from the conversation: Leadership Beyond Titles: Mitchell emphasizes that leadership isn't about rank or position. It's about influence and helping others succeed, a principle he lived out in his career and continues to pursue, even while working toward his Ph.D. in Global Leadership. Building Trust: Successful leaders must empower their teams by establishing a clear vision, providing support, and letting go of control to allow their people to execute high-stakes missions effectively. Personal Sacrifice: Colonel Mitchell discusses the personal toll of leadership in combat, sharing how his focus on his troops often meant placing their needs above his own and his family's. Loving Your People: Mitchell explains how elite leaders care deeply about their teams, visiting soldiers at forward operating bases to check on their well-being, not just their performance. This personal connection is crucial for enduring the relentless demands of leadership. Stay tuned for Part 2, where Bob delves deeper into the leadership lessons that transcend the battlefield and can be applied to any high-stakes environment!  ►►Register for our next Think Tank: https://www.initiativeone.com/events   InitiativeOne: Leadership Institute Eliminate Drama, Improve Decision-Making, and Win as a Team. Be Honest with Dr Yana Date: 07.19.24 Ep. 34 Topic: In a RELATIONSHIP with a PREDATOR: Warning Signs Guest: Robert Mitchell Bio: Robert Mitchell M.A. lives in New York City. He received his B.A. in Religious Studies from Syracuse University in 1991 where he was initiated into Theta Chi Beta, the National Religious Studies Honors Society. At Syracuse he had the good fortune of studying with Dr. David Miller, whose expertise was Carl Jung's psychological theories regarding religious experience. Robert's specific focus was the manner that the western mystery schools influenced Jung's psychology of religious experience. Jung saw Astrology and Alchemy as the esoteric religions of antiquity. Of Astrology he once said, “It contains everything that I have found in my psychology, and I've yet to find if my psychology has anything to offer her older sister.” Jung's belief that all psychological struggles were at their core, religious in nature, was an organizing principle for Robert's studies, and for his present work. During his time at Syracuse, Robert attended his first ten day Vipassana meditation retreat and began his meditation practice. It's a practice that has continued to this day. Robert received his M.A. in Counseling Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco in 1994. While earning his Masters Degree, he acquired over two thousand hours in training as a psychotherapist, before deciding his future did not lie in conventional models of psychotherapy. At CIIS, he studied Transpersonal Models of consciousness with psychedelic pioneers Ralph Metzner, Stan Grof, and Michael Harner. At the same time, personal computers had made it possible for him to assemble astrology charts, and he found that as soon as he could print them, he could interpret them. Over the past 30 years he has worked with thousands of people from all walks of life, in several healing modalities. Originally, he used Astrology as a tool to demonstrate the identifiable structures in his client's consciousness which shaped their experiences. Over time, he has become more interested in identifying the organizing intelligence behind each person's circumstances, so that an ongoing dialogue could be created between his clients and that intelligence. Psychedelics when used properly, can be a catalyzing agency in promoting this dialogue. It is Robert's belief that a relationship with the numinous is an important aspect of the mental and physical health of each person, and the places where that experience is inhibited, is where personal difficulties, suffering and illness(both physical and emotional) emerge. His works aspires to inspire direct communication between his clients, and the invested intelligence that shapes their life. Once this relationship is established, it can continue on its own and be restorative, inspiring, practical, and directive.

You can do more with less.” On this episode of Be a Marketer, Robert and host Dave Charest, Director of Small Business Success at Constant Contact, talked about how small businesses and their marketers can get started with AI. Meet Today's Guest: Robert Mitchell of WSI World☕ What he does: Robert is the Chief AI Officer at WSI World, a digital marketing agency network. After more than 20 years in franchise development, Robert dove into the world of AI. Today, he helps WSI serve as an AI consultancy for its franchise owners — and helps franchise owners become the de facto AI consultants for their clients.

Welcome to Episode #127 of the Blue-in-Green:PODCAST which this week sees Imran connect with DJ, producer, Simon S. As founder of Futuristica Music, Simon S has always strived for the label to showcase an exemplary perspective on progressive and innovative new sounds from various quarts of the contemporary soul music landscape. Just from a quick assessment of the label's recent releases, there's the neo-soul sounds of the sensational Georgie Sweet, the hip-hop inspired aesthetic of vocalist LaNote, the soulful electronica of As Valet's 'Virgo Stellar' project and of course the always exceptional releases of Deborah Jordan, most recently via her phenomenal pairing with K15 for 'HUMAN'. The Simon S helmed Jazz Chronicles and Peter Franks projects afford the DJ and producer the opportunity to nurture his affections for a series of interwoven jazz-meets-hip-hop narratives with The Peter Franks Group in particular forging ahead with a creative path born of samples-based compositions fused with lush live instrumentation. And forging "ahead" in this instance is the key term. While the initial Peter Franks release in 2018 sought to pay loving tribute to influences and inspirations via a series of exquisite, nostalgia-driven compositions in 'Days Past', 2023's 'Days Ahead' - as the title suggests - is an infinitely more assertive and confident record. Its commitment to creating its own identity is very much an ideal that gives focus to the album and unifies much of its context. With Simon S/Peter Franks credited for the album's production along with drums, samples, bass, keys and percussion, the 'Days Ahead' table is set for an exalted line-up of contributors including Amanda Whiting, Nat Birchall, Robert Mitchell and Marc Rapson among others. We were fortunate to catch up with Simon to discuss the making of the new record, the collaborators involved and discuss some upcoming Futuristica info for the year. www.blueingreenradio.com www.blueingreenradio.com/p/listenlive.html TuneIn: bit.ly/2LBK0BD The Blue-in-Green:PODCAST runs in conjunction with the online radio station, Blue-in-Green:RADIO which celebrates 21st century soul, jazz, funk, Latin & hip-hop music. Over the last half century, "smartness"—the drive for ubiquitous computing—has become a mandate: a new mode of managing and governing politics, economics, and the environment. Smart phones. Smart cars. Smart homes. Smart cities. The imperative to make our world ever smarter in the face of increasingly complex challenges raises several questions: What is this "smartness mandate"? How has it emerged, and what does it say about our evolving way of understanding—and managing—reality? How have we come to see the planet and its denizens first and foremost as data-collecting instruments?  In The Smartness Mandate (MIT Press, 2023), Orit Halpern and Robert Mitchell radically suggest that "smartness" is not primarily a technology, but rather an epistemology. Through this lens, they offer a critical exploration of the practices, technologies, and subjects that such an understanding relies upon—above all, artificial intelligence and machine learning.  Orit Halpern is Lighthouse Professor and Chair of Digital Cultures and Societal Change at Technische Universität Dresden. Tune in every Tuesday night for Vintage Classic Radio's Tuesday Night Detectives, as we present a double bill of the best old-time radio detective serials from the 1930s to the 1960s The Adventures of Philip Marlowe - Trouble is My Business First up tonight is "Trouble is My Business", a radio play that aired back in August 5, 1947, as an episode of "The Adventures of Philip Marlowe" series. The show starred Van Heflin as the iconic private detective Philip Marlowe, and it was written by Robert Mitchell, based on a short story by Raymond Chandler. The plot of the play revolves around Marlowe being hired by a wealthy man named Ralph Bright to locate his missing wife, Crystal Kingsley. As he delves deeper into the case, Marlowe uncovers a complex web of lies, murder, and blackmail, involving a diverse cast of characters. Apart from Van Heflin as Philip Marlowe, the radio play featured a talented ensemble cast that included Lurene Tuttle as Crystal Kingsley, Lou Merrill as Ralph Bright, and Georgia Ellis as Mrs. Bright. Van Heflin was a highly respected actor with an illustrious career in both stage and film. He won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the 1942 movie "Johnny Eager" and was later nominated for Best Actor for his performance in "The Yearling" (1946). Heflin's portrayal of Philip Marlowe was widely praised by audiences and critics, and he went on to reprise the character in several more radio adaptations of Chandler's stories Boston Blackie - The Jonathan Diamond (a.k.a "The Rockwell Diamond) The second half of this week's Tuesday Night Detectives double bill ends with "The Jonathan Diamond" (also known as "The Rockwell Diamond") -- an episode from the Boston Blackie radio show that aired on June 23rd, 1944, on NBC. The episode revolves around Boston Blackie, a reformed thief turned detective, and his efforts to track down a stolen diamond. Blackie is hired by a wealthy businessman named Jonathan Rockwell to find his missing diamond. Blackie's investigation leads him to a gang of jewel thieves, who are also after the same diamond. Blackie must outwit the criminals and recover the diamond before it's too late. The episode was part of the long-running Boston Blackie radio series, which aired from 1944 to 1950. Cast: Chester Morris as Boston Blackie Jan Miner as Mary Wesley Tony Barrett as Inspector Faraday Maurice Tarplin as Jonathan Rockwell Winifred Lenihan as Ellen Rockwell Bernard Lenrow as Eddie Myers Ed Begley as Arthur Manleder Arthur Peterson as Police Sergeant Mandel Kramer as Jimmy, Rockwell's butler The Boston Blackie radio series was based on a popular series of detective novels by Jack Boyle. The character of Boston Blackie first appeared in a short story by Boyle in 1914, and he went on to feature in several more stories and novels. The character was later adapted for film, television, and radio, becoming a beloved figure in the world of detective fiction.

Robert Mitchell had been sizing up new venture opportunities for PayPal for roughly 3 years when the door to an operations role swung open. Impressed by his financial modeling know-how, Mitchell tells us, PayPal's credit bosses “handpicked” him to create a framework for launching and monitoring new credit offerings. For Mitchell, there was no turning back. “They just told me that I was a smart guy and that I could figure things out,” recalls Mitchell, who adds that the fact that the new position was in Brussels didn't even give him pause. From the start, Mitchell viewed the position as a critical career rung that would allow him to climb above his financial modeling stints. “I was the guy who could whiteboard an idea or financial model, present it, size it, and do anything that you wanted to it,” continues Mitchell, who observes that prior to the Brussels post he had mostly been an “individual contributor” and not someone who empowered teams. “The role really taught me how to think through processes end-to-end and how to launch a program while working with and leading different operational teams,” explains Mitchell, who credits his previous experience with having helped to put in motion a critical career pivot.   “When I came back, I was able to serve in a controllership role that would have typically gone to someone with more of a traditional auditing background,” comments Mitchell, who notes that he had “raised his hand” and begun speaking with PayPal's chief accounting officer about potential positions before arriving back in the States. Moreover, Mitchell tells us that it was roughly at about this time that he began to think about different experience gaps on his CFO resume and the types of roles that could help him to fill them. Says Mitchell: “I had some work ahead of me, but the path was now visible.” –Jack Sweeney

We aired the individual quarter-hour shows earlier in April, but for your listening pleasure, here's the entire five episode series that aired from April 1 to April 5, 1942. Here's what David Golden had to say about the series:The Living God. April 01, 1942. Program ##1. The National Council Of Catholic Men syndication. A roving radio interviewer decides to interview Jesus Christ! He asks people in the street, "Who is Jesus of Nazareth?" Through the magic of radio, the reporter is taken back 1900 years to the city of Jerusalem in 33 BC. He watches the scene as Jesus drives the money-changers from the Temple and then interviews Jesus! The program was produced with the "help of professional Hollywood actors" and "The Radio Players Of Loyala University of Los Angeles." An ingenious radio play. Martin Worth (producer); William Gargan; Robert Mitchell ("special musical scoring"); Una O'Connor ; Pedro De Cordoba ; St. Brendan Boys Choir; Peter Millard (writer); Suzanne Millard (writer);. 14:55. Audio Condition: Excellent. "Interestingly enough, this is the only information I can find about the series online at all.
