David Booth is the founder and chairman of Dimensional Fund Advisors, one of the most influential investment firms in the world, managing more than $1 trillion in assets. Earlier in his career, David helped develop one of the world's first index funds and spent decades applying academic financial research—including ideas developed by his mentor, Nobel laureate Eugene Fama—to real-world investing. David is also a proud University of Kansas alum, earning degrees in economics and business from KU before earning his MBA from the University of Chicago. And his philanthropy has been extraordinary: the University of Chicago's Booth School of Business bears his name, as does David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium. In 2010, David and his wife Suzanne purchased James Naismith's original rules of basketball for $4.3 million and brought them home to KU—the story featured in my favorite documentary of all time ESPN's 30 for 30: There's No Place Like Home. In 2025, David made an additional $300 million gift to Kansas Athletics, continuing his remarkable support of KU. And most recently David wrote a book titled, Stay Calm: Learn to Embrace Uncertainty in Investing and Life. In this episode we discuss the following: When David found $15,000 in cash in his late parents' safe-deposit box, he wondered what it might have become had they invested it in the public markets instead. He calculated that if his father had invested the money after returning from World War II and simply earned the market return, it would have grown to more than $1 million over the next 40 years. That's the magic of compounding, and I love David's bigger point that our lives compound as well, from the things we learn, to the decisions we make, and the relationships we build. I love David's explanation for why he's optimistic about markets: people want to make their lives better. When something goes wrong, people adapt. They solve problems. They invent things. Companies find new ways to serve customers. And over time, that human ingenuity gets reflected in the market. As a stressed-out PhD student at the University of Chicago, David visited his grandparents, who lived in a tiny home that didn't even have indoor plumbing. Yet he looked around at his family laughing and enjoying themselves and thought: Maybe they've figured out something about life that I haven't. That realization helped him choose the career path that fit what he actually valued. Invest early, stay invested, and make sure you're invested in the right things.

Tim Kurkjian begins the show with a heartfelt message for the legendary Karl Ravech. Tim’s longtime teammate at ESPN recently called his final game for the network, fittingly, at the Little League World Series. We know Karl will be picking up a new gig soon, and of course, we have a feeling he’ll be joining us as a guest again very soon! Pete Crow-Armstrong just did something no Cub has ever done at his age, while Chris Sale continues to show us that age is truly just a number! The Angels continue to struggle when holding a lead, and honestly, it’s getting a little sad. Plus, Buck Martinez gets honored by the Blue Jays, and Tim follows it up with one of the funniest stories you’ll hear. Plus Greg Maddux baffled us ALL! George Lombard is struggling a bit at shortstop for the Yankees — no pressure, right? And Drake Baldwin hitting bombs to start a game has officially become a Quirkjian. On This Date in Baseball History, we talk about Bob Gibson, including a hilarious Johnny Bench story about him, as well as Rico Carty. Cole Hamels and Jonathan Papelbon also get some mentions along the way. We dive into the Wheel of Kurkjian and need your suggestions! Head over to our website and send them our way. We also talk Wrigley Field, bullpen catchers, and one legendary manager. Of course, Team Tim wraps things up today. The wait is over — BYU Football game week is officially here. KSL Sports BYU Insider Mitch Harper opens today's show buzzing with energy as No. 14 BYU enters the final countdown to Saturday's season opener against Utah Tech at LaVell Edwards Stadium (6 p.m. MT, ESPN+). After a 12-2 campaign in 2025, this is one of the most anticipated season openers in BYU's modern era, and Mitch sets the table for what's ahead. First up, Kalani Sitake revealed the 2026 Team Leadership Council on Monday morning — a 20-member group voted on by the players, featuring eight captains and 12 co-captains. Returning as captains for the second straight year are running back LJ Martin and defensive tackle Keanu Tanuvasa. Joining them on offense are sophomore quarterback Bear Bachmeier, senior center Bruce Mitchell, and Oregon transfer tight end Roger Saleapaga II. The defensive captain group rounds out with linebacker Isaiah Glasker, Cal transfer linebacker Cade Uluave, and cornerback Evan Johnson. The transfers earning captain nods before playing a single snap as Cougars is a notable storyline, and Mitch breaks down what it says about the locker room culture. The 12 co-captains include repeat selections Raider Damuni and Andrew Gentry, plus standouts like Walker Lyons, Jojo Phillips, Bodie Schoonover, Therrian Alexander III, Hunter Clegg, and kicker Matthias Dunn. Mitch also makes the case to get an invite to Influencer Night in 2027 at LaVell Edwards Stadium. The uniform combo for week one also dropped Monday, and BYU is going with an all-royal-blue helmet, royal-blue jersey, and white pants for the opener — the first time this combination has been worn in the Big 12 era. BYU also shifted to a weekly uniform reveal approach this season instead of releasing all 12 combos before kickoff. A new Entrata sponsorship patch will also make its debut on the jerseys. To close out the show, Mitch runs through the Cougar Stock Exchange — who's trending up and who's trending down heading into the opener. Is Rashee Rice being drafted too aggressively with the Kansas City Chiefs potentially shifting toward a more run-heavy offense? Is Malik Nabers actually undervalued after his ADP fell amid injury concerns? And can Davante Adams continue producing as a fantasy WR2, or are age, touchdown regression, and changes to the Rams offense pointing toward a decline? Welsh, Fitzy, and Pat work through the FantasyPros Expert Consensus Rankings and identify the wide receivers they believe fantasy managers should be moving up, and down, their 2026 draft boards! College football is officially back, and Week 0 gave us plenty to chew on before the season really gets rolling. We start with North Carolina getting some revenge on TCU in Ireland, then turn to Virginia's emphatic win over NC State and a huge opening performance from Beau Pribula. How much should we believe after one game, and which results actually changed the way we see these teams? From there, we work through USC's somewhat misleading final score against San Jose State, Florida State's uneven opener against New Mexico State and a late-night Memphis-UNLV game that may have made the Group of Six playoff race a little more interesting. We also discuss Stanford's dramatic finish against Hawaii and the very different FBS welcome parties for North Dakota State and Sacramento State. Plus, the return of college football meant the debut of some noticeable changes to the TV experience. We review ESPN's post-BottomLine world, the new on-screen indicator showing which announcer is speaking, a pronunciation controversy involving Beau Pribula and one moment of sweet Eastern Pennsylvania vindication. Both Craig and Charlie covered the match and we debate what's going wrong for Roberto de Zerbi.Next to another side who have had a stuttering start, Liverpool, after their 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest. How worrying have their first two performances been, why is Florian Wirtz struggling and could Bradley Barcola be the player they need?Switching sports to cricket, we then discuss England's dominant display against Pakistan with broadcaster Adam Collins, as Dan Lawrence impressed for the home side at Lord's.Finally, returning to football, we discuss Everton and bring you some breaking news about the proposed sale of teenage midfielder Harrison Armstrong.
The same player isn't the same value on every platform. ESPN, Yahoo and Sleeper all price players differently, which means the guy you're reaching for in one league is a bargain in another. Kendall Valenzuela and Peter Overzet go position by position and platform by platform to find the biggest gaps between where each site's ADP has a player and where Kendall actually ranks him. Every value comes with the exact math: the positional ADP, Kendall's positional rank, the difference, and how many spots of overall value you're capturing. At quarterback it's Justin Herbert on ESPN, going as the QB14 at pick 106 despite ranking as a top-10 quarterback — a twenty-spot overall gap. Brock Purdy is the Yahoo answer, Trevor Lawrence the Sleeper one, and Caleb Williams and Joe Burrow show up in the top-five value lists too. Running back gets interesting because Kenneth Walker is the answer on both ESPN and Yahoo, but at meaningfully different prices, while Sleeper's ADP creates a much bigger opening on Rhamondre Stevenson. At receiver it's three different names entirely: Mike Evans on ESPN, Garrett Wilson on Yahoo, and Chris Godwin on Sleeper. Tight end is where it gets strange. Dalton Kincaid on ESPN and Mark Andrews on Yahoo are both positional values that come with negative overall value — meaning you're getting a good tight end at a bad total price, which is a trap worth understanding before you take one. Sleeper is the only platform where the math works cleanly. Each position also gets the full top-five value board for that platform, so you're not just walking away with one name. Find out which site you're drafting on and draft accordingly.
