Josh Sigurdson talks with Mark Gonzales about the launch of the CBDC (Central Bank Digital Currency) in the European Union as Christine Lagarde announces the launch will come by October at the latest. We have warned for over a decade of this incoming threat which has come more and more near with every month. Now, with this announcement, we can expect the United States and Canada to follow suit soon going into next year. While it has been said that The Federal Reserve will not be releasing a CBDC under Trump, it seems obvious that this kind of launch would actually be done by the Treasury. Trump has pushed forward proposals for heavily centralized "stable coins" as the dollar quickly lost its standing as the world reserve currency. The Digital Euro will bring in digital ID and social credits at a time with already existing emergency orders, a banking crisis, war and food shortages. This is being done exactly as planned. The United Nations Pact For The Future which was signed onto by 193 countries includes restricting your bank account if you say negative things about the government as well as bringing in carbon credit scores. This agenda has already been heavily adopted in the shift into net zero. It isn't a coincidence that this coincides with a CBDC launch. There ARE ways to avoid this inevitable shift into CBDCs but it comes down to all of you watching or reading to take those steps mentioned in the video. Stay tuned for more from WAM! Payments no longer stop at national borders, and neither does Nieuwe Knikkers ("New Marbles"). In this special international episode, we dive into the evolving landscape of payments in Europe. A few years ago, the call for a more European-focused payment infrastructure led to the emergence of initiatives like the European Payments Initiative (EPI) and the Digital Euro. These projects aim to create payment solutions in Europe, by Europe. Significant progress has been made, and now, more than ever, the timing seems right for these European solutions to gain traction. The importance of this topic was underscored at the Dutch Payments Association's Annual Conference, which focused entirely on European payments. Key players, including representatives from EPI, the Dutch National Bank, the SEPA scheme, and European policymakers, joined forces to discuss the future. But it wasn't just about industry experts—perspectives from merchants and consumers also took center stage, with contributions from EuroCommerce and the Dutch Consumer Association. At Nieuwe Knikkers, we firmly believe that end-user adoption is critical to the success of any new payment solution. That's why we invited Atze Faas, Payments Adviser at EuroCommerce, and Olof King, a board member at BEUC - The European Consumer Organization and a representative of the Dutch Consumer Association, to share their insights. Together, we explore the challenges posed by the dominance of card schemes and U.S. big tech companies in Europe. Atze and Olof express their concerns about this dependency and highlight the need for a more autonomous and inclusive European payment ecosystem. Key factors for success, they argue, include broad accessibility, competitive pricing, and a strong narrative that resonates with end users. A well-designed collaborative business model could be the foundation for these new payment methods to thrive. With these considerations in mind, our guests see great potential in the latest payment initiatives. Could this be the start of a new era for payments in Europe? This episode is brought to you in collaboration with the Dutch Payments Association and made possible by Endava, experts in software engineering for the digital age. More information about the annual conference of the Dutch Payments Association.

Guest post by Maggie Herbert is a big fan of tech and someone who's really into investing in cryptocurrencies. Over the past ten years, cryptocurrency has swept the financial world off its feet, and there are no indicators that this trend will slow down. With the explosive growth of Bitcoin and the introduction of several altcoins, the world of digital currencies is always changing. Looking into the crystal ball of the future, what can we anticipate for the year 2024 and the years beyond? This essay will examine the fascinating prospects that the bitcoin industry has to offer. What could cryptocurrency offer in 2024 The Power Source of Cryptocurrency The underlying technology of cryptocurrencies, blockchain technology, will keep developing. It has already been used in a number of sectors, including supply chain management and healthcare. More cutting-edge applications of blockchain are expected in the upcoming years, including enhancing governance transparency, protecting personal information, and transforming the gaming sector with blockchain-based assets. The Emergence of CBDCs, or Central Bank Digital Currencies Globally, central banks are experimenting with virtual currencies of their own. Leading the way are the Digital Euro of the European Central Bank and the Digital Yuan of China. The goal of these CBDCs is to preserve government oversight and regulation while offering the advantages of cryptocurrencies, such as quick transactions and lower fraud. This may give the cryptocurrency space more acceptance and validity. Digital Money and Property From Virtual Currency to Physical Assets Beyond digital assets, cryptocurrency is starting to leave its effect in the real estate sector. Cryptocurrencies allow buyers to buy real estate in a variety of global locales. Blockchain technology guarantees safe, transparent transactions, which has the ability to completely transform the real estate industry and increase its accessibility to a worldwide clientele. How NFTs Affect Things The newest thing in town is Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs), which stand for distinct digital assets that might range from virtual real estate to digital art. NFTs could start to appear in even more facets of our life in 2024 and beyond, such as concert tickets and educational credentials. Our creativity is the only restriction on their possible applications. Tighter Regulation Monitoring Innovation and Security in Balance Regulators will probably intervene as the bitcoin industry expands to safeguard investors and maintain market stability. It's critical to strike the correct balance between security and creativity. Anticipate more nations to formally codify their tax laws and regulations pertaining to cryptocurrencies, since this would lend further credibility to the sector. Safeguarding Your Assets with a Crypto Wallet App Before entering the realm of digital currency, one must have a crypto wallet app. To manage, store, and exchange your cryptocurrency holdings, these applications offer a safe environment. You may take advantage of mobile payments and access your assets from any location with a crypto wallet app. To safeguard your assets, make sure you use trustworthy wallet software. The Rise of Decentralized Finance (DeFi) Bank-Free Banking In the realm of cryptocurrencies, Decentralized Finance, or DeFi, has gained popularity for providing a variety of financial services outside of conventional banking establishments, including lending, borrowing, and trading. DeFi platforms have the potential to become strong substitutes for traditional banks for a large number of individuals. The Compatibility of Blockchains Shattering Obstacles Future developments should see a rise in blockchain interoperability, allowing for smooth asset transfers and cross-chain capabilities. As a result, there will be more flexibility and efficiency, which will make it simpler for people to explore the complicated world of cryptocurrencies. The Crypto Revolution in Green Climat...

Paul Smyth joins me as a guest co-host this week, and he is a specialist executive recruiter and executive coach within the fintech industry. As a founder of two startups, Paul has a unique view on the startup ecosystem. Paul and I met back in 2017, shortly before I photo-bombed his stand at a fintech event in Dublin, and we've collaborated quite a bit since then. He and his business partner and life partner, Laura Smyth, from Top Tier Recruitment, were the original sponsors of MoneyNeverSleeps back in 2018. Since then, Paul Smyth has also launched the Possible Coaching business, which counts me as one of their proud customers. I was so happy with the outcome of Paul's coaching of me that I asked him to coach the founders that we bring through the Techstars Web3 accelerator. As one of the many hats he wears, Paul Smyth is a fantastic Coach-in-Residence for Techstars, helping startup founders find their way to positive outcomes. In this Money Talks segment, Paul Smyth and I kick things off with a look at the recent "State of European Tech 2023" report produced by Atomico, the on-traditional European Venture Capital firm. We then get into some of the key issues at play with the proposed Digital Euro and how Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) adoption may be impacted by the context of privacy in personal financial transactions. This leads us to a rundown on SocGen's new stablecoin listed on the Bitstamp exchange, and we finish with a big question on what matters more in startup success: great founders or great markets. The digital euro has entered a two-year preparation phase which will lay the foundations for potentially issuing the digital euro across Europe. According to a new survey conducted by management and technology consultancy BearingPoint in seven countries across Europe, 40% of respondents in Ireland have not heard of the digital euro, a planned digital version of physical euro bank notes and coins. So, whilst knowledge of the digital euro is relatively widespread across Europe, in Ireland, further communication and education is required to ensure acceptance of the digital euro as a supplement to cash. According to official communications of the European Central Bank, the digital euro is not intended to replace cash but to complement it, which is also reflected in the survey results. On average, around 26% of respondents expect the digital euro to be used as a supplement to existing payment methods. Information on the digital euro is most pronounced in Austria, with only 27% of respondents having not heard of it. High awareness in Austria could be due to the intensive political discussion on the digital euro there. On the other hand, 43% of respondents in France had not heard of the digital euro. In the countries with the highest cash use, Austria and Germany, the expectation is that the digital euro will be used less frequently than cash. In Finland, the country with the lowest cash use, the digital euro is expected to be used more frequently than cash. Of the respondents aware of the digital euro, across all age groups, Irish respondents are the most likely to believe that it will replace cash. Expectations of the critical characteristics of the digital euro are consistent across countries, these being: fast, secure, and accepted everywhere, closely followed by availability at all times. Anonymity as a characteristic was by far the least important. Respondents said their preferred use of the digital euro would be for online shopping, with one in two in Ireland saying they would use it there. In all countries surveyed, the digital euro would also be used frequently in daily shopping, such as at the supermarket. The criteria of free to use and accepted everywhere 24/7 (online and offline) would encourage respondents to use the digital euro the most. Trust in data security is seen as a more important criterion for usage than a great user experience. Results of the survey show that the personal bank receives the highest trust for digital euro transaction data. With an average of 4% across all countries, very few respondents would want to entrust their transaction data to technology companies such as Apple, Google, or Amazon. Christian Bruck, Partner and Payments Expert at BearingPoint: "Cash is by far the most popular payment method in Europe. It is so high partly due to the fact that in uncertain times, cash is perceived as particularly familiar and secure. Cash remains highly valued, reflected in the strong majority favouring cash in the next five to ten years. It is interesting to note that, despite the differences in today's use of cash, an average of one in five people would use the digital euro several times a week. This underlines the potential of the digital euro. Gillian O'Sullivan, Partner and Ireland Country Lead at BearingPoint: "Although knowledge of the digital euro is now relatively widespread across Europe, Ireland is lagging with 40% of respondents in Ireland never having heard of it. The findings of our survey highlight that further communication and education is required in Ireland to ensure acceptance of the digital euro as a supplement to cash. In Germany (71%) and Austria (79%), cash use is significantly higher than in other European countries. Respondents from Switzerland (63%), Ireland (61%), the Netherlands (57%), and France (55%) also show a relatively high level of cash use but are well behind Germany and Austria. Finland has a significantly lower cash usage pattern at 43%. The popularity of cash is al...

Will we soon pay with a digital euro? Would it replace cash? And who is it for? Although no decision has been made on issuance, we are preparing for a possible digital euro. This is fuelling a lot of interest − and quite a few misconceptions. Join our host Stefania Secola and her guest Evelien Witlox, head of the ECB's digital euro project, as they set the record straight by busting some myths on the topic. The views expressed are those of the speakers and not necessarily those of the European Central Bank. Published on 24 October 2023 and recorded on 19 October 2023. In this episode: 00:20 – Digitalisation in payments The world is becoming increasingly digital, and the way we pay is no exception. To ensure our euro is future-proof, the ECB has decided to proceed with a digital euro preparation phase. 01:28 – The project moves ahead What does the decision to move to the next phase mean? Will we soon be able to pay with a digital euro? 04:01 – The need for a digital euro I can already pay digitally with my bank card, my phone or even my watch. What's the difference between doing this and paying with a digital euro? 06:25 – Digital euro and cash What about euro cash? Will a digital euro replace banknotes and coins? 09:35 – Who will use it? Is a digital euro only for young people in big cities? Will it exclude people who don't have a phone? 10:34 – Data and the digital euro Will the ECB collect personal data when you pay with the digital euro and if so, for what purpose? 12:51 – The project team Who's involved in the digital euro project? Is the ECB doing all this alone? 15:20 – Our guest's hot tip Additional material: Press release: Eurosystem proceeds to next phase of digital euro project https://www.ecb.europa.eu/press/pr/date/2023/html/ecb.pr231018~111a014ae7.en.html Digital euro hub page https://www.ecb.europa.eu/paym/digital_euro/html/index.en.html Webpage: Why do we need a digital euro https://www.ecb.europa.eu/paym/digital_euro/why-we-need-it/html/index.en.html The ECB Podcast: A digital euro: what, why, when? The European Union is considering whether to introduce the digital euro by 2026. It would work rather like Bitcoin, but without fees. And it would only be used for smaller payments. How would it work and what would it mean for cash?
In dieser Episode diskutieren Peter Frey und Christina Cassala über die rechtlichen Hintergründe des Digitalen Euro, Pläne für die Akzeptanz und Konsequenzen für Kreditkartenunternehmen und Verbraucher.

In this second half of this Palisades interview Tom Luongo and Vince Lanci continue to discuss topics related to gold, western foreign policy, LIBOR, and more. Vince explains the importance of setting up a gold-convertible exchange and how the supply and demand of gold is moving east. He also explains how the West is combatting this by forcing pricing in dollars, while Saudi Arabia and other BRICs are pricing in Brent. They discuss in depth the factors at play in the war of currencies and sanctions from a geopolitical perspective, and Luongo says the dumbest thing Trump ever did was putting shock and awe sanctions on Iran. They also discuss the free market, the MI6, and the US's weak ground game in Russia. The conversation then turns to the future of global currencies in light of the BRICS+ meeting in August. Tom believes it is an incremental shift and not any major change, and is more worried about something like a false flag that would put the world beyond a point of no return. Vince wants to talk about the note about the German central bank needing a bailout, and Tom believes Europe marking their gold to market is a negotiation or bluff. Tom then introduces the concept of SOFR and how the SOFR futures market went ballistic three months later and killed off the euro dollar futures in just about a year. He also finds it interesting that the SOFR futures indicates that the Federal Reserve is not likely to pivot before the end of the year. Vince argues that some form of inflation must happen in order for the private insurance and pension systems to be fixed. Lastly, Vince says prepare for the worst but notes that things will probably play out slowly. On paper, the EU's proposal to pursue a design for a digital euro should be viewed favorably by the bloc's banks, because the model targets retail consumers, intermediated by banks and payment-service providers. This should allay the banks' fear of being sidelined by the digital-euro ecosystem. However, the problem may now lie with convincing consumers of the attractiveness of a digital currency.

As cryptocurrencies have grown in popularity and people use cash less and less, central banks have been put on the defensive. Their solution to stay relevant and maintain control? A central bank digital currency. Institutions such as the European Central Bank see it as their way to leap into the digital age. But as the ECB is pushing forward with its agenda, it's facing criticism from the very people and banks who would help keep it alive. What's up love doves! I wanted to post this recent Barbarian Yak Fest w/ Dr. Sylvie, because a) it's a fun chat and b) this is some important info. We're back baby! Dr. Sylvie returns with a vengeance and delivers two peak Sylvie rants in this Yak Fest for the ages. Ides of Marchitation kaw! Then we get to squeezing the juicy juice. We dive into an absolutely insane video of EU Central Bank head harpy Christine Lagarde fielding a prank call by a skilled imitator pretending to be President Zelenskyy. As she believes she is talking to a fellow predator elite, her forthrightness is staggering. She proceeds to spill the beans about their plans for a digital Euro, and divulges why it's a done deal, and that they'll be instituting the new paradigm in October. Makes you wonder what the hell else is planned for October...Lagarde clip starts at 54 min. America's midterm elections were yesterday. It wasn't the huge win for Republicans that many were predicting, although many races are still undeclared. What did we learn about America? How does this fit with biblical prophecy and God's plan for the nation? China uses strict authoritarian measures against its people within its own borders. But a new report shows that it has established “overseas police stations” in 54 foreign nations, in which they are cracking down on dissent far outside Chinese territory. Europe is moving away from cash and toward a digital euro. The centralization of power over buying and selling and commerce points to an important biblical prophecy.
